Another Awesome Event
Before we get started here, I would like to take a few minutes to touch on our biggest event of the year, our annual banquet. Preparations, planning and putting those plans into action takes on a huge undertaking as each season there is a time frame that has to be met with no exceptions. This year was no exception but thankfully FTR had our one and only Darlene Riggs at the helm and with her group of ladies behind the scene, it was another stellar event. So, a Big Thank You to all of you that volunteered and helped with all that goes on before, during
and after the banquet, FTR is blessed to have all of you and we can’t thank you enough. Also, a big Thank You to Moose Racing, FMF, Engine Ice, Seat Concepts and HBD Graphics for your continued support. Scott Dawson and crew at Eastcoast Screenprinting knocked it out of the park once again with the awesome awards , along with Central Florida Powersports, TFracing and the Batchie family for adding to the special night for our members. Special Thanks to Randy Hawkins and Zach Osborne for helping out with the awards presentation along with some of our own members gracing the stage while
acknowledging our winners with some awesome interviews, Thanks guys.
As the start of the season is just weeks away with two enduros coming up pretty fast, we also might see a few more additions to our schedule as a couple clubs have made some inquiries with new properties. Stay tuned and watch the schedule as they get the go ahead, we will add those additional events as they are confirmed.
Thanks for listening

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
When you are reading this, we all will be heavy into the hurricane season. After last year, I know all of us are praying and hoping for no storms hitting Florida. I continue to pray for those in the Fort Myers area.
In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus compares accepting his love, his words, his promises to a couple of carpen-
“These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.
and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards.” His words are true and can be counted on for a new and fulfilling life here and hereafter. In Revelation 3:20, Jesus said, "Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I'll come right in and sit down to supper with you.”
“But if you just use my words in Bible study and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach. When a storm rolled in
If you place your faith and believe in Him, He will change your life forever!!!

Subject: FTR Pit-Riding Rule Enforcement for Coming Season
The Board of Directors of FTR has decided that Pit Riding has become out of control, despite repeated warnings. The existing rules are being ignored, but starting IMMEDIATELY, all Pit Riding rules will be strictly enforced. Penalties will be issued, and no warnings will be given. Please see this link for the complete Pit Riding Rules, per FTR rulebook:
Some Key Points to remember:
• Unlicensed persons (includes anyone under 16) may NOT operate ANY motor vehicle at the event – EXCEPT their own race bike traveling to and from their competition event (including practice), AND they MUST be accompanied by a licensed person.
• Use of “one-wheels” and other motorized scooters and pit bikes by unlicensed persons, or anyone under 16, is NOT allowed. The only motorized vehicles which can be operated by someone under 16 are electric bikes WITH PEDAL-ASSIST.
• Speed limit for ALL vehicles (includes golf carts, competition bikes, and bicycles) is “FIRSTGEAR WALKING SPEED”.
• ALL vehicles (including bicycles) MUST have a Headlight after dark.
• PENALTIES may include required Disqualification which cannot be dropped for season points.

YOUR MOVE
Words: Matt Daugherty
Hello FTR Family,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 racing season. This month, I would like to speak with you about an often neglected anatomical structure that can be the source of some shoulder pain and laxity: the glenoid (shoulder) labrum. The shoulder's labrum is a full circle of fibrocartilage, similar in design to the meniscus in your knee. Which means it is made up of dense collagen tissue, which is remarkably resilient. The labrum is anchored down to the outer articular margin of your shoulder blade, called the glenoid rim. The rim is the outer edge of the glenoid fossa or socket part of your shoulder, with the head of your upper arm bone comprising the ball (see picture).
Photo Reference: The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons 2023. https://orthoinfo.aaos.org/ en/diseases--conditions/shoulderjoint-tear-glenoid-labrum-tear/
The labrum has multiple roles, but perhaps its primary function is to keep the ball of your humerus (upper arm bone) supported in a deeper socket to improve stability
and cushion the joint. We know that when the labrum is injured, there are significant changes to the stability of the shoulder joint. There are two main mechanisms of injury for the glenoid: traumatic and degenerative. As off-road racers, we are much more likely to have a traumatic tear of the labrum, usually when we extend our arms out to catch ourselves when we fall. It takes much force, so traumatic labral damage is generally due to shoulder dislocation.
There are multiple surgical grades of labral injuries, but they all fall within two categories. Damage to the lower portion of the labrum is called a Bankart lesion, and an injury to the upper part of the labrum is a superior labrum anterior to posterior (SLAP) lesion. Both are managed similarly, with some minor differences in rehabilitation.1,2 A thorough physical examination by a PT can help diagnose a labral lesion. For example, joint mobility testing for the shoulder, palpable
tenderness on the groove of your biceps tendon at your shoulder, and several special tests are a solid cluster of examination findings for a labral lesion.3 The special tests are designed to stress different portions of the labrum to determine if the tissue is compromised. Some of the special tests have positive findings similar to a meniscus injury, such as a sensation of clicking, popping, and joint pain. The latter are symptoms you can observe in yourself if you have had a traumatic shoulder injury.
Additionally, be on the lookout for a lack of shoulder rotation inward on the traumatic side, where you seem to hit a mechanical barrier and also unwillingness to move your shoulder into specific ranges of motion due to apprehension or fear. If your shoulder is unstable and has dislocated more than once, surgical repair is likely the best long-term option to create stability and prevent future dislocation.1,4,5 However, surgery is not necessary for all individuals, and a full course of physical therapy is recommended in most situations.1,6 Rehabilitation works; the success rates are lower compared to a combination of surgery and rehabilitation for traumatic tears after a dislocation. I have had several patients manage their labral tears conservatively with success. It depends on the injury's extent, the shoulder's instability, and the patient's goals.
Before acting on any information in this article, I highly recommend you consult a physical therapist or
physician for a general health and physical activity readiness screening. If you are experiencing pain while riding, it is always beneficial to have a complete evaluation by a physical therapist or physician. If you have any questions or comments, please email me at contact@ motopt.com, or call 904-395-5379. Let's IMPROVE YOUR MOVE so you can ride pain-free with MotoPT.
