how much room do we really need as we don’t want to have someone park you with a parking stick like at the Mini’os as those who have been there know what I am referring to. Another unsolved opportunity is our pit riding as this also can be easily handled by our membership. I think we all know what is right and wrong when it comes to allowing our family members, friends and children to traverse to and from in the camping areas and the property in general. We have pit riding rules in our rule book and it can be found online, no excuses. There’s probably going to be some examples made this season, so don’t be one of those guys, educate your family and friends. Looking forward to seeing the FTR family as I should be back in the saddle with light duty restrictions, whatever or however that applies to riding my dirt bike I don’t know but will find out. Thanks for listening, Randy

CHAPLAIN’s CORNER Words: Jim Edleston
and sinned, separating them from the perfect and Holy God. God told Satan, you will wound his heel(the nails in Jesus’ feet) but he will crush your head (Satan will be defeated, once and fall all). Starting Line to Checkered Flag… “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Last month I talked about Purpose, Plan and Program showing how Jesus completed our restoration to God by paying our price on the cross and then showing us the promise of life eternal by being raised from the dead. A point to consider is that God had his perfect Plan laid out for his Purpose of bringing us back to Him from the very beginning. In Genesis 3:15, Adam and Eve had earlier that day, given in to temptation and stopped trusting God. They listened to the serpent (Satan)
Established 1971
In the book of Isaiah Chapters 2 and 3, God told the prophet, “everyone was appalled. He didn’t even look human-a ruined face, disfigured beyond recognition” Jesus was whipped and struck so much before getting on the cross, he was not even recognizable. The people asked, “who would have thought God’s saving power would look like this?” But the fact is, it was our pains he carried, our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us. He took our shame, our guilt, our anxieties and fears, and took them with Him to the cross. By dying and paying our price, we who believe in him, are free of our sins. In God’s eyes, the debt is paid in full by Jesus.

“Through his bruises we get healed…. (God’s) plan was that He give himself as an offering for sin so that He’d see life (our lives) come from it-life, life and more life! Isaiah finishes the chapter by writing, “Through what He experienced, my righteous One, my Servant, will make many righteous ones(you and me). I present all this because the book of Isaiah was written 800 years before Jesus was born. God’s Purpose-to restore us to Him, His Plan- Send his Son to pay our price. His Program- “declare with your mouth, ”Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved!!!!” (Romans 10:9). Blessings on and off the road, Jim and Betty Edleston CMA

There are multiple stretching tactics, from static stretching to utilizing your neurological system in proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching, which can help you stretch further in less time. How does this information help you this season? Well. Pre-race, you should focus on mobility exercises where you are dynamically moving with very short if any, periods of pause. You want to stimulate blood flow, improve the viscosity of your soft tissues by raising their temperature, and lubricate your joints. Arm circles, leg swings, squats, ankle pumps, wrist circles. Once you get warmth and blood flow into the area, this is the best time to stretch with prolonged holds statically. I will go into greater depth next month with details on how long you should hold a static stretch. And the rationale behind my static stretching advice.

Remembering Jerrad Huprich Words: Laura Fong-Yee Photos: Jamey Perdue Jerrad Huprich won the Senior C championship last season. He unexpectedly passed away in a tragic accident a couple weeks after winning the championship. I’m writing this because I truly want as many people as possible to know how great of a human being he was. I only got to know the last 2-3 years through Levic Allen (Master A and medic on the safety team). We hung out at the races and rode Croom together a couple times a month. He then became my neighbor a year ago and would ride his Honda Grom by my house sometimes. He is a United States Air Force Veteran that did tours in Kuwait. After the Air Force he joined the fire department as a firefighter/paramedic. Proud to serve his country and help others. Jerrad was always full of positive energy, the kind that everyone wants in their circle to hype them up. He had a way of making friends everywhere. A story told to us by Josh Smith was one time at Croom, Jerrad went to use the bathroom and he comes back with two guys and says these guys are riding with us. We all know the bathrooms are only two stalls at Croom. He was also a very loyal friend. We had made plans in April to ride but he had to cancel on me to buy a toy hauler in Georgia. So we made plans to ride Spyder MX the next week. Well he rode Croom the day before and he hit a tree and hurt
Established 1971
his ribs. I thought he was going to cancel riding Spyder with me to rest and heal up for the last hare scramble of the season. He felt bad for canceling on me once already that he toughed out the pain and rode the track with me anyways. He was also very determined to win the Senior C championship that he wanted to train as much as he could. He went the extra mile for his friends. I let him borrow my toy hauler before he got his and he bought me a set of wheel chocks because he did not approve of my scrap 2x4s. He borrowed my lawn mower when he first moved to my neighborhood and sharpened my blades even though I told him I just buy new ones every year. He borrowed my Baja No Pinch tool and bought me a valve core remover. He liked to add his “Hup touch” wherever he could. He battled Cory Dady all season last year for the Senior C championship. Jerrad wrote that Cory is a great competitor. He won the championship in a Hollywood ending style, making the pass for the lead in the last few seconds of the race. Unfortunately my bike had a mechanical issue that left me stuck on the trail and I did not get to see him cross the finish line. This is what Jerrad posted on his instagram about that race, “What an amazing weekend and
FLORIDA TRAIL RIDERS
the best race of the season! Finished with a WIN by half a second! P1 of 32. Landed me the overall “W” for the season!!!!! The season win was down to me and a buddy, a solid racer who was only 1 point behind me for the season. I had a terrible start (bike didn’t immediately fire), which made for a rough first lap, but I had Josh Smith with the lap board keeping me in the game by lying to me and telling me I was closer to the leader than I really was. I caught him in the last few miles of the last lap and those few miles of him on my tail was INSANE! Completely dangerous! Lol Most fun I’ve ever had! Josh made me push harder.” Like many of us in this sport we have some degree of OCD and/or ADD. Jerrad had it the most in our group. His tools were meticulously placed in a special order with equal spacing (as you can see in the photo of his shop). He always seemed to be the last one to arrive for our Croom ride days, even when he lived the closest to Croom out of all of us. Then he always took the longest to unload and gear up. He was always full of shenanigans that made you laugh and shake your head while doing a facepalm. This season a few of us, including myself, changed our race number to 169 to honor Jerrad Huprich. Ride in Paradise champ!

One of a Kind: Chuck Argentine Words; Randy Faul
I had the privilege and honor of attending a Celebration of Life for a true friend and one of our long time FTR members recently, Chuck Argentine. Chuck and his son Joey have been involved with FTR for many years and Chuck was always one to be remembered. He had a way to walk into a group of people and leave a footprint in your heart and memory. So many times the FTR family would wait and see what Chuck would bring to the races for entertainment like the double decker bicycle that everyone always wondered how he got on it! Riding his XR Honda sitting on it backwards on the course raised a lot of eyebrows, but that was Chuck and everyone knew it was okay, until he fell.
Established 1971
Although there were many friends and family there outside of the racing family to honor him, there was a tremendous amount of FTR friends there, in fact there were enough there to fill the starting line at an FTR race. There were many stories and memories shared that afternoon as life is meant to be a celebration and we certainly celebrated Chuck’s life as that was what he would have wanted us to do. What he left behind was not to be engraved in stone monuments but what was woven into the lives of his friends and he sure did an outstanding job of doing that.
