Apprenticeship Program provides 15-18 year-old youth with meaningful, professionally managed career-exploration opportunities in Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) operations. 10/13 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Fee: $75/person Stiles Creek is an easy to moderate trail-15 miles with a Park Service cabin located about midway. We provide transportation, snow machine and helmet.

CHENA HOT SPRINGS HIKE AND SOAK

10/13 Fee: $20 Depart ORC at 8 a.m. Must be at least 18 years of age to enter the rock pool.

Brisk weather, bright colors, beautiful views and a relaxing soak make this trip a classic. We will hike nearby in the Chena State Recreation Area and then head to the hot springs afterwards. Bring good hiking shoes, water and lunch as well as swimsuit and towel for the hot springs.

ALASKA RANGE HIKE/SNOWSHOE 10/20 Fee: $20 Depart ORC at 7 a.m. We head down to the Alaska Range to explore one of the many mountain gorges that course

out of the tall peaks. Depending on snow, we will either hike or snowshoe. Bring warm clothes, sturdy boots, water and lunch.

WINTER ADVENTURE CLINIC 10/27, 1 p.m. No cost Swing by the ORC for this clinic where we will discuss ideas for winter activities of all types, and how to do them safely. Get familiar with all the great things to do in Fairbanks over the winter.

Spend an early winter afternoon with us for lunch and a soak at Chena Hot Springs. Nothing beats a full stomach and a hot soak to start this winter off right. Your pool pass and lunch are included in the cost.

CROSS COUNTRY SKI WAXING CLINIC 11/10 1300, No cost Learn the fine art of waxing your skis for the varied winter temperatures of the Fairbanks region. You can bring your own skis or use our skis.

SNOW MACHINE SAFETY COURSE

11/17 0900, 1300 Ages: 18+ No cost This course was created to promote Snow machine Safety and responsibility while out on the trail. Participants will be issued a Snow machine Safety Card at the conclusion of the course. This course is required to rent snowmachines from the Outdoor Recreation Center.

CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRIP

11/17 0800–1600 $15/person Glide and head out to some of the local ski trails for a fun day exploring the boreal forest by ski. No experience needed! Bring water, lunch, and warm active-wear. We provide transportation and equipment.

STILES CREEK SNOW MACHINE TRIP

11/24 0800–1700 $75/person Go on a snow machine run to Stiles Creek. Transportation, snow machine and helmet provided. Bring your lunch, snacks, drinks and cold weather clothing. If the temperature drops below -10 degrees we will try to postpone to a warmer date.

FAMILY SNOW MACHINE RUN

11/23 1300–1500 Ages: 18+ $25/driver, passengers (free) Join our staff for a family outing on the local trails of Fort Wainwright. Be sure to bring your camera, warm coat, gloves, boots, daypack with bungee cord, snacks and drinks. We will provide snow machine and helmets.

FULL MOON SKI

11/26 1800 $10/person Experience the glowing white world of Fairbanks night under the full moon and ski on some of the local trails. No experience needed. Equipment is provided. Don’t forget to bring water and warm clothing.
