Find Santa and take a picture with him and tag Birch Hill on Facebook and be entered into a drawing to win a free lift ticket to Birch Hill for this 2013-14 season. Santa will visit kid’s ski school and also be in the Lodge for a time to hand out candy and take pictures with kids.

Gingerbread House Making December 6, 2013 Time: 5pm – 7pm It’s that time of year again when visions of candy canes and sugar plums dance in our heads! That can only mean one thing; it’s time to make Gingerbread houses for all of Fort Wainwright to see. Come by the LFCAC to put a Gingerbread house together with our staff. A display case will also be made available if you would like to share your creation with the community. Child, Youth & School Services provides limited child care for FAME programs. Child care is provided on site at Melaven Gym. When: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost: $35 per child per month Registration for the upcoming month’s sessions opens the 20th of each month. Children must be pre-registered at Parent Central Services, Bldg. 1049, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. AFC Benefits for families of Deployed Soldiers, Wounded Warriors, or Fallen Soldiers may be used to pay for this care. Baby Signs: Sign, Sing, and Play Classes

Thursdays, 0900-0930 at LFCAC Hands on Parent and Child classes that are designed to improve communication with young children. Families will learn signs through song and play–keeping it fun for everyone! This basic signing series of 12 classes will be offered on a rotating basis and is appropriate for families with children 9 months to 5 years of age. No cost to attend. Apprenticeship Program

Positions with ACS, SKIES, and CYSS now available! The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program provides 15-18 year-old youth with meaningful, professionally managed career-exploration opportunities in Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) operations. The program is open to dependents of active duty, DoD Civilian, and retired military personnel. • Candidates must be 15–18 years of age • Must be registered with Child, Youth & School Services (CYS Services) • Must have and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better • Chosen participants are required to work 15 hours/week for 12 weeks • Additional options and requirements may be offered during the Summer Term • Apprentices may complete up to 2 terms/year for 3 consecutive years For more information, call the MWR Partnership Specialist at 361-9897.
