Family Rock Climbing
6/1. 0900-1700 Fee: $15/person Grab the kids and head out of town for an exciting day: rock-climbing and enjoying the great outdoors. No previous experience necessary. We provide the know-how and all the equipment to get you up and climbing in no time. Don’t forget to bring a lunch, snacks and a drink!
ATV Safety Course
6/2, 1300 Fee: No cost This ATV Safety Institute course is provided to promote safe and responsible use of ATV’s. Be sure to bring gloves and a good pair of over the ankle boots. Tennis shoes are not allowed! This course is required for any of the ATV programs running this summer.
Boater Safety Course
6/1 & 6/15 0900-1200; 1300-1600 Fee: No cost For non-motorized boats: This safety class can be done online at www.boatus.org/onlinecourse. default.asp. Print and bring your certificate to the ORC for your Boater Safety Card to rent non-motorized boats. For motorized boats: Bring your certificate from the online course and attend the second session, a hands-on portion on the river. This class is conducted rain or shine so be sure to bring a raincoat. A Boater Safety Card is issued at the completion of the course and is valid for four years. Everyone renting a watercraft from the Outdoor Recreation Center is required to have a Boater Safety Card issued from the ORC on Ft. Wainwright. There are no exceptions!
AK Range Hike
6/2, 0800 Fee: $15/person This day hike will take us into the high country in the mountains where we will see glaciers, soaring mountains and amazing vistas. Pack some water, snacks, and lunch.

Stiles Creek ATV Run
6/8, 0800 Fee: $75/person This is an all day ATV run to Stiles Creek in the Chena River State Recreation Area. Transportation, ATV, goggles and helmet will be provided. Bring your lunch, snacks, drinks, gloves and daypack with bungee cord to strap to ATV. Gloves and over the ankle boots are required. Departs the ORC at 8:30 a.m. Completion of the ATV Safety Course is required prior to the departure date!
Local Fishing
6/9, 0900 Fee: $25 (Adult) $10 (Youth 15 & under) Experience some of the local fishing in the Fairbanks vicinity. We provide transportation there and back, fishing rods and tackle. You are free to bring your own fishing gear if you prefer. Please bring your snacks and lunch. An Alaska State Fishing License is required!
Intro to Skeet Shooting 6/6 & 6/20; 1800-2000 6/14,1300-1600 Fee: $15/person Go over the basics of skeet shooting at the Fischer Skeet Range. Instruction, firearms, ammunition and one round of clays are included with this program. Get out for an enjoyable time at the range!
Intermediate Rock Climbing
6/8, 23; 0800 Fee: $15/person This trip will focus on slightly harder difficulty routes around the Fairbanks area. Our guides will also provide instruction for improved climbing movement and techniques. Equipment is provided. Please bring water, lunch and active clothing.
Mastadon Dome Hike
6/9, 0800 Fee: $15/person This hike takes us out among untracked hills where we will explore tundra slopes, wildlife
and rock outcroppings. A great day trip. Don’t forget your camera on this one!
Women in the Wilderness: Chena River Kayak 6/15, 1000-1600 Fee: $10/person Ladies, spend the day paddling down the scenic Chena River in our very comfortable inflatable kayaks. No experience necessary. Equipment and instruction are provided. Don’t forget to bring a lunch/snacks and a drink!
The Chena to Pikes for Lunch
6/16, 1100-1400 Fee: $10/person Spend a relaxing riverboat ride to Pikes Landing followed by lunch on the deck. We will depart the Glass Park boat launch at 11 a.m. Participants need to bring funds for their own meal.
Women in the Wilderness: Indoor Rock Climbing 6/17, 1800-2000 Fee: $5/person This is the perfect time to learn something new or to get back in climbing shape. No previous experience necessary. Don’t forget to bring a snack and a drink!
Gulkana River Float Trip
6/21-22 & 6/23-24 Departs: 0900 Fee: $200/person This two day float will bring you on a wilderness trip into the backcountry of the Gulkana River drainage. The Gulkana is home to quite a variety of fish and wildlife. We provide staff, rafts, life vest, tents, food for the float and transportation back to the campground. Meet us at Sourdough Campground boat launch by 8:30 a.m. June 21 or June 23.

Later we will cook dinner over the fire, have storytelling and of course… make S’mores! If you don’t have your own camping equipment don’t worry. We have everything you will need to make it a great experience.
College Glacier Overnight
6/29-30, 0800 Fee: $70/person This is a trip you do not want to miss! We will hike into the beautiful College Glacier and spend the night camping at its base. We will also venture onto the surface of the glacier where we can peer into crevasses and deep glacial holes. We provide transportation, food and most camping equipment.
Family Kayak
6/29, 1500-1800 Fee: $10/person Summer is here! Now is the time to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather while it lasts. Spend an afternoon kayaking down the lovely Chena River. No experience necessary. Equipment is provided. All you need to bring is a snack and something to drink. We also recommend wearing shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.

Baby Signs: Sign, Sing, and Play Classes
Mondays, 0900-0930 at LFCAC Hands on Parent and Child classes that are designed to improve communication with young children. Families will learn signs through song and play–keeping it fun for everyone! This basic signing series of six classes will be offered on a rotating basis and is appropriate for families with children 9 months to 5 years of age. No cost to attend. Parent kits available for purchase.

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Cost: $28 per child per month July registration opens June 20th Children must be pre-registered at Parent Central Services, Bldg. 1049, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pre-registration begins the 20th of the month for the next month’s sessions.
