Boater Safety June 2, 16, 30 1300 Fee: No cost Learn the basics of Alaska boating. A Boater Safety Card is issued at the completion of the course and is valid for four years. Card is required to rent watercraft from the ORC.

Quartz Creek ATV Day Trip June 9 0800 Fee: $75 Venture out to the White Mountains. ATV’s, helmets, and transportation are provided. Bring a lunch, goggles, gloves, over the ankle boots, drink and snacks for the trail, daypack with bungee cord to strap to the ATV. An ATV Safety Course is required prior to the departure date. College Glacier Overnight Hike June 23-24 0700 Fee: $50 Surround yourself with the awesome power of Alaska’s mountains camping overnight at the foot of College Glacier. Transportation, backpacks, camping gear and food are provided.

> Hired! Apprenticeship Program < It’s not too late to be HIRED! this summer! The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program provides 15-18 year-old youth with meaningful, professionally managed career-exploration opportunities in Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) operations. The program is open to dependents of active duty, DOD civilian, and retired military personnel. • Candidates must be 15 – 18 years of age • Must be registered with Child, Youth & School Services (CYS Services) • Must have and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better • Chosen participants are required to work 15 hours per week for 12 weeks • Additional options and requirements may be offered during the Summer Term • Apprentices may complete up to 2 terms per year for 3 consecutive years

UAF Tour June 6, 1–5 p.m. Youth Center Join us for a guided walking tour of UAF. The tour will let you see the whole campus in action. Tour classrooms, the Student Rec Complex, science buildings, West Ridge and the Wood Center. Talk to students, staff and faculty about life at UAF. We will meet up at the Youth Center, then take a bus to UAF and back. You must be registered with CYSS submit a signed permission slip to ride the bus.

June 4-June 8: Alaskan Adventures with Outdoor Recreation Center Participants will experience outdoor activities under the sun! Learn how to navigate the land, kayak and canoe the rivers, and much more to create memories of summer living in Alaska! “Action Shots” photo and video exhibit on Friday for family and friends.

June 11-June 15: The Artist Within Participants will get creative with tye-dye,

jewelry making, mosaicwork, stained glass, and more! Take a field trip to see artists in action! On Friday, youth will showcase their creativity with a fashion show and art gallery for families and friends.

June 18-June 22: Robots Rock!— Lego Mindstorm robotics

June 25-June 29: Get Up and Move Participants will get out and move under the Alaskan sun! Bike, swim, rock climb, and experience a hike like no other up Angel Rocks. End the week with a family bike trip and picnic at ODR’s Glass Park!

Participants will use Lego Mindstorm robotics to build robots and complete a mission. Families can attend a Friday night showdown between teams!

June 25 – June 29 The sport focus will be Cycling. The field trips for the week will be Creamer’s Field Hiking, Pioneer Park, Boating, & Glow Putt. Kindergartners will be going to Denali School Playground for outdoor activities and Swimming at Hamme Pool.

General Camp Information Open to registered children in grades K-5. Camp drop offs begin at 6 a.m. and field trips run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. with ALL DAY field trips running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Building activities will focus on Olympics. Breakfast, lunch, and snack will be provided. Field trips are subject to change due to weather, availability, age appropriateness, and staffing.
