Las Jornadas Micológicas se clausuraron con la siembra de ejemplares inoculados para la producción de ‘criadas’ FMHOY - Fuerteventura

los cultivos micológicos en Fuerteventura y especialmente asociados a la ‘criada’. Siempre, relacionado con el proyecto de cooperación europea ‘MICODES’, en el que participan entidades de la Sierra del Segura, junto con otras comarcas como la Sierra de Alcaráz y Campo de Montiel), Serranía de Cuenca, Noroeste Murciano, Altiplano de Granada, comarca de Guadíx y la isla de Fuerteventura. GDR Maxorata dispone de unos 2.000 ejemplares de plantas inoculadas con esporas para la producción de criadas, cuya reproducción con fines comerciales será objeto ahora de un estudio experimental que tiene como base la Granja Agrícola y Experimental de Pozo Negro, aunque también se apoyará en cultivos realizados en otras zonas de la isla con diferentes características climáticas y edafológicas.

Las I Jornadas Micológicas de Fuerteventura se clausuraron el pasado junio tras el recorrido por diversas fincas de la Isla en las que de forma experimental se sembraron turmeros cuyas raíces estaban inoculadas previamente con esporas de ‘criadas’, un hongo que de forma natural vive en las raíces de estos vegetales y, tras las lluvias de invierno, crece hasta convertirse en las ‘criadas’, también conocidas como ‘trufas del desierto’, muy apreciadas en Fuerteventura. Unas 80 personas llegadas de Extremadura, Castilla La Mancha, Murcia, Andalucía y Canarias han participado en estas Jornadas Micológicas de Fuerteventura, que bajo la organización de la asociación de desarrollo rural GDR Maxorata, se plantearon con el objetivo de estudiar y difundir las posibilidades de

Die ersten mykologischen Tage von Fuerteventura endeten im Juni nach einem Rundgang über mehrere Bauernhöfe der Insel, wo auf experimentelle Weise die ersten Turmeros gepflanzt wurden, deren Wurzeln vorher mit Sporen von Wüstentrüffeln inokuliert worden waren. Dieser Pilz lebt auf natürliche Weise in den Wurzeln dieser Pflanzen und nach dem Winterregen wächst er und wird zum Wüstentrüffel, welcher auf Fuerteventura sehr geschätzt wird. Ungefähr 80 Personen sind aus Extremadura, Castilla La Mancha, Murcia, Andalusien und von den Kanaren gekommen, um an diesen mykologischen Tagen von Fuerteventura teilzunehmen, die von dem Verband für ländliche Entwicklung GDR Maxorata organisiert wurden, um zu untersuchen, ob auf Fuerteventura mykologische Züchtungen möglich sind und um diese zu verbreiten. Dabei standen die Wüstentrüffel im Mittelpunkt. Dies geschah in Zusammenarbeit mit dem europäischen Projekt ‘MICODES’, an dem Organismen aus der Sierra del Segura und anderen Landstriche wie Sierra de Alcaráz und Campo de Montiel), Serranía de Cuenca, Nordosten von Murcia, Hochebene von Granada, Guadíx und die Insel Fuerteventura beteiligt sind. Der GDR Maxorata verfügt über ungefähr 2.000 Exemplare von Pflanzen für die Zucht von Wüstentrüffeln, die mit Sporen inokuliert wurden. Nun wird auf dem experimentellen Bauernhof von Pozo Negro eine experimentelle Untersuchung über die Zucht dieser Pilze für den Verkauf durchgeführt, aber es werden auch Züchtungen in anderen Gegenden mit anderen klimatischen und bodenkundlichen Voraussetzungen der Insel unterstützt.

The Mycology Open Days ended with the planting of inoculated samples for the production of “criadas” FMHOY - Fuerteventura The First Mycology Open Days of Fuerteventura ended in June after a visit in various farms of the island where turmeros (Helianthemum canariense) had been experimentally planted and whose roots had previously been inoculated with “Criadas” spores, a fungus that naturally lives in the roots of those plants and that during the winter rain grows into the “Criadas”, also known as “desert truffles”, a delicacy in Fuerteventura. Las Salinas de Isla de Lobos se convierten en un nuevo atractivo turístico para el islote FMHOY - Fuerteventura La Isla de Lobos cuenta con un nuevo atractivo turístico para los cientos de turistas que se acercan cada día a visitar el Parque Natural de este Islote. La Consejería de Medio Ambiente del Cabildo ha llevado a cabo un proyecto que se ha desarrollado durante los últimos seis meses con el objetivo de recuperar Las Salinas, tres antiguos hornos de cal y hasta seis aljibes distribuidos a lo largo del recorrido de Isla de Lobos. El proyecto se suma una serie de acciones que se han venido desarrollando en el Islote en los últimos tiempos para mejorar sus dotaciones, como han sido la entrada en funcionamiento del Centro de Interpretación, la señalización de los senderos, la reforma del Faro de Martiño, la instalación de paneles informativos, el desarrollo de diferentes campañas de limpieza o la mejora del muelle principal”. La superficie que ocupan las salinas rehabilitadas alcanzan los 5.800 m.², de los que 1.900 m.² corresponden a los tajos y 3.900 a los cocederos. Las otras estructuras tradicionales recuperadas son los hornos de Las Lagunitas y La Galera, que son caleras (funcionaban a leña o aulaga), y el horno de la Atalaya Grande, que es un horno de cal industrial (funcionamiento a carbón), además de los aljibes de Las Lagunitas, la Hoya del Cagadero, Aljibe del faro, Aljibe de Los Librantes y Aljibe del Marrajo.

Un molino de Chicago para bombear el agua salada Las Salinas del Carmen se encuentran situadas por encima del nivel del mar, por lo que, para alimentar los cocederos, es necesario un sistema que permita bombear el agua salada. Esta antigua estructura contaba con un pozo y un molino de viento estilo ‘Chicago’ destinado a esta tarea, que están siendo rehabilitados en el marco de este proyecto. El pozo se encuentra excavado en las cercanías de la costa por debajo del nivel de la marea, lo que permite la filtración del agua desde el mar y que la acción del molino de viento bombee el agua hasta los cocederos. Las salinas, una vez restauradas, estarán listas para funcionar, de manera que cuando finalice el proyecto se estudiará la posibilidad de ponerlas en funcionamiento como demostración o atractivo para los visitantes, que en todo momento podrán recorrer el complejo mediante una serie de pasarelas que se están instalando. Datos de Isla de Lobos El islote de lobos, situado en el Estrecho de La Bocaina (entre Lanzarote y Fuerteventura) ocupa 467,9 has. de superficie y tiene 13,7 Km. de perímetro. Su interés está reconocido al formar parte de la Reserva de la Biosfera a nivel internacional, mientras que a nivel comunitario forma parte de la Red Natura 2000 y está declarada zona ZEPA y zona ZEC. A nivel nacional está declarada en su totalidad como Parque Natural. Entre todos sus valores aparecen los de carácter ambiental (saladares, jable de los hornitos, tabaibales del malpaís, vegetación halófila en sus costas y hoyas salitrosas); de biodiversidad, con endemismos únicos como la siempreviva de Lobos (Limonium ovalifolium ssp canariensis) y aves marinas como el águila pescadora (Pandion haliaetus) y migratorias; geológicos (hornitos freatomagmáticos); etnográficos (salinas, hornos de cal, Faro de Martiño); y paleontológicos (yacimientos de los periodos Jandiense y Erbanense).

FMHOY - Fuerteventura Isla de Lobos now has a new tourism attraction for the hundreds of tourists who travel there daily to visit the Islet’s Natural Park. The Cabildo’s Environment Council carried out a project that was developed over the past six months in order to restore the Salt Marshes, as well as three lime ovens and six water reserves all along the coastline of Isla de Lobos. The project completes a series of actions that have been developed on the Islet lately in order to improve the facilities, such as the creation of the Centro de Interpretación, the signposting of the tracks, the refurbishment of the Martiño Lighthouse, the creation of information signs, the development of various cleaning campaigns or the improvements on the main harbour. The surface occupied by the rehabilitated Salt Marshes represents 5.800 m2. The other traditional structures that have been renovated are the lime oven of Las Lagunitas and La Galera and the oven of la Atalaya Grande, which is an industrial lime oven (that used to be fuelled with coal), as well as the wells of Las Lagunitas, la Hoya del Cagadero, Aljibe del faro, Aljibe de Los Librantes and Aljibe del Marrajo. A Chicago Windmill to pump the salt water Salinas del Carmen are situated above sea level, which means that a pumping system is required to get the salt water to the salt marshes. This old structure used to have a well and a Chicago style windmill for that very purpose; those are now being renovated within this project. The well is being excavated close to the coast below the tide level, which means that the sea water will filter into the well and the windmill will pump that water into the salt marshes. Once they are restored, the salt marshes will be ready to be used, and the possibility of putting them into action will be studied to turn them into a demonstration or attraction for tourists, who at any time will be able to walk around the facilities thanks to gangways that are being built. Information on Isla de Lobos The islet of Lobos, situated in the Strait of La Bocaina (between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura) occupies 467,9 hectares and has a perimeter of 13,7 km. Its interest is recognised on international level for being part of the Biosphere Reserve while on European level it is part of the 2000 Nature Network and is already declared as a Special Protection Area and Special Area of Conservation. At national level it is declared in its totality as Natural Park.

Amongst its assets there are the environmental ones (salt marshes, jable de los hornitos, tabaibales del malpaís, halophil vegetation on its coasts and salt pits); biodiversity assets with unique endemic species such as the siempreviva de Lobos (Limonium ovalifolium ssp canariensis) and marine birds such as

the Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) and migrating birds; geological assets (phreatomagmatic ovens), ethnographic assets (salt marshes, lime ovens, Martiño’s Lighthouse), and Paleontology assets (sites of Jandiense and Erbanense periods).

Die Salinen Salinas der Insel de Lobos werden zu einer neuen Touristenattraktion Das Eiland Lobos verfügt über eine neue Touristenattraktion für die Hunderten von Touristen, die tagtäglich den Nationalpark dieses Eilandes besuchen. Das Amt für Umwelt des Cabildo hat während der letzten sechs Monate ein Projekt durchgeführt, um die Salinen, drei alte Kalköfen und bis zu sechs Brunnen, die auf dem Eiland verteilt sind, wieder in Betrieb zu nehmen. Das Projekt gehört zu einer Reihe von Eingriffen, die in der letzten Zeit auf dem Eiland durchgeführt worden sind: Dazu gehören die Inbetriebnahme des Fremdenverkehrszentrums, die Ausschilderung der Wanderwege, die Restaurierung des Leuchtturms Faro de Martiño, das Aufstellen von Informationsschildern, die Durchführung verschiedener Reinigungskampagnen und die Verbesserung des Hauptanlegestegs”. Die Fläche der restaurierten Salinen beträgt 5.800 m², von denen 1.900 m² aus Hängen bestehen und 3.900 aus Becken. Weitere restaurierte traditionelle Strukturen sind die Öfen von Las Lagunitas und La Galera, die Kalkbrenner (sie funktionierten mit Holz oder Ginster) und der Ofen von Atalaya Grande, ein industrieller Kalkofen, (der mit Kohle funktioniert), dazu kommen die Brunnen von Las Lagunitas, la Hoya del Cagadero, Aljibe del Faro, Aljibe de Los Librantes und Aljibe del Marrajo. Eine Chicago-Mühle um Salzwasser zu pumpen Die Saline „Las Salinas del Carmen“ liegt über dem Meeresspiegel, deshalb wird ein neues Pumpsystem für Salzwasser benötigt um die Becken zu versorgen. Diese alte Struktur verfügte über einen Brunnen und über eine Chicago-Windmühle für diesen Zweck, die

gerade im Rahmen des Projektes restauriert werden. Der Brunnen ist in der Nähe der Küste und liegt unter dem Meeresspiegel, wodurch die Filtrierung von Meereswasser ermöglicht wird. Die Windmühle pumpt das Wasser zu den Becken. Sobald die Salinen restauriert sind, können sie wieder in Betrieb genommen werden. Daher wird nach Abschluss dieses Projektes untersucht, ob man sie in Betrieb nehmen und als Touristenattraktion verwenden kann. Die Besucher können auf Laufstegen gehen, die zurzeit installiert werden. Angaben über das Eiland Lobos Das Eiland Lobos liegt im Estrecho de La Bocaina (zwischen Lanzarote und Fuerteventura), hat eine Fläche von 467,9 ha. Und einen Durchmesser von 13,7 km. Da es zum Biosphärenreservat gehört, besteht auf internationaler Ebene Interesse daran. Außerdem gehört es auf nationaler Ebene zu dem Red Natura 2000 und wurde zur ZEPA-Zone und ZEC-Zone erklärt. Das gesamte Eiland ist ein spanischer Nationalpark. Zu den natürlichen Werten des Eilandes gehören die Landschaft (Salzsteppen, Jable de los Hornitos, Tabaibales der Vulkanlandschaft, halophile Vegetation an den Küsten und slapeterhaltige Gruben), die Artenvielfalt mit einzigartigen endemischen Arten wie der Immortelle von Lobos (Limonium ovalifolium ssp canariensis) Seevögeln wie dem Fischadler (Pandion haliaetus) und Zugvögeln, geologische (phreatomagmatischen Ablagerungen), ethnographische (Salinen, Kalköfen) und paläontologische Werte (Fundstätten der Jandiense- und Erbanense-Periode).

“Los agricultores ecológicos están entusiasmados con el nuevo compost” FMHOY - Fuerteventura Cada vez somos todos más conscientes de la importancia que tienen los residuos que producimos diariamente en nuestras casas y en general en la sociedad a la que pertenecemos. El problema a futuro de tantas toneladas de basura, tiene que ser enfrentado con decisión por las autoridades de cada país y colaborado con responsabilidad por todos los habitantes de este planeta al que tanto estamos maltratando. Para obtener mayor información sobre el tema, nos hemos reunido con el Consejero de Residuos del Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Luciano Barrio, para que nos informe ampliamente sobre la nueva maquinaria para la elaboración de compost ecológico, lo cual es un nuevo avance y un tema de singular importancia. ¿Qué beneficios aportarán a la isla estas maquinarias, y cuando estarán ya en marcha? Llevamos más de dos años con este proyecto que por fin se ha materializado ahora con la compra de una bio-trituradora y una volteadora, que nos permitirán elaborar el compost en las instalaciones del complejo Zurita. Ambas maquinarias suponen una inversión de cerca de 200.000 € con la que esperamos proporcionar un servicio que permita a los agricultores de la isla adquirir un compost de gran calidad a precios asequibles. Se han habilitado 100.000 m2 de terreno para la instalación de esta planta. Ya nos hemos puesto en contacto con las asociaciones de agricultores ecológicos y están entusiasmados. Esperamos que en un máximo de tres meses ya tengamos el primer compost preparado. ¿Qué tipo de residuos sirve para producir el compost en esta maquinaria? Todos los residuos orgánicos procedentes de restos de poda, limpieza de jardinería o distintos tipos de maderas. Además esta bio-trituradora es de alta tecnología y ha sido especialmente adaptada a las características y necesidades de nuestras instalaciones, por la empresa suministradora. También permite la posibilidad de adaptar el tamaño triturado a las necesidades de cada ocasión.

¿Qué se hacía anteriormente con los residuos que se van a convertir en compost a partir de ahora? Todo se compactaba y se enterraba para que se pudriera, ya que nada puede ser quemado para no contaminar el medio ambiente. Hay una pregunta en la mente de muchas personas que es ¿hasta qué punto la labor de reciclado tiene al final una eficacia o se almacena sin mayor beneficio? Los envases ligeros y todo lo que corresponde al contenedor amarillo, se recicla, y va a una planta de transferencia donde se separan previamente los distintos envases y, posteriormente, se envían a la Península para su reciclado. En cuanto al vidrio una vez descargado en la planta de Zurita, se prepara para enviarlo a Las Palmas, donde hay un una planta de reciclado para vidrio. El papel y cartón se empaca e igualmente va para la Península.

En Canarias, sólo el vidrio y a futuro los residuos de los aparatos eléctricos y electrónicos (RAEE), pues ya se ha comenzado a construir una nueva planta en Tenerife y esperamos que pronto haya en el archipiélago una planta recicladora de papel y cartón. ¿Es suficientemente grande el complejo de Zurita, para tanto residuo? La planta de Zurita tenía 256.000 m2 y ya resultaba pequeña, pero el Gobierno de Canarias ha expropiado 226.000 m2 más, que dentro de poco formaran parte del Complejo Medioambiental de Zurita. Esperamos poder crear un nuevo vaso para vertidos, ampliar las oficinas, y hacer un aula de interpretación para los muchos visitantes que recibimos, todo ello una vez que ya este urbanizado el terreno. ¿Esto indica que reciben visitantes en el complejo? Sí, hay muchas escuelas y diferentes colectivos que nos visitan y esperamos que, sobre todo para la gente joven, esto sea un aliciente para motivarla a reciclar sus residuos. Desde aquí invito a quien desee conocer la planta de Zurita, para que nos visiten y vean que sí se recicla y que la labor de separar residuos tiene un valor. También hay acuerdos con empresas autorizadas que reciclan algunas materias para su procesado posterior, como es el caso de la chatarra o el aceite usado tanto industrial como de cocina. ¿De qué otras actividades se ocupan en esta Conserjería? Nuestra labor aquí, abarca todo lo relacionado con agua y residuos, también el control de los puntos limpios. En la actualidad tenemos tres en la isla: Centro, norte y sur. Nos gustaría saber algo más sobre Ud. como persona a cargo de esta Conserjería. Desde siempre he estado, de una u otra forma, relacionado con la política. Primero en Asamblea Majorera y posteriormente en Coalición Canaria, además soy el vicepresidente del Consejo Político Local de La Oliva y también miembro del Consejo Político Insular. Tomé posesión del cargo el 30 de octubre del año pasado, y aunque este trabajo era algo muy nuevo para mí, con el apoyo del grupo de gobierno y los empleados de esta Consejería me he ido poniendo al día.

QUIÉN ES QUIÉN EN LA ISLA / WHO’S WHO IN THE ISLAND? / WER IST WER AUF DER INSEL? Luciano Barrio Umpiérrez – Beauftragter für Müll des Cabildo

“Die ökologischen Landwirte sind von dem neuen Kompost begeistert” FMHOY - Fuerteventura Uns wird immer bewusster, dass der Müll sehr wichtig ist, den wir tagtäglich zuhause und in unserer Gesellschaft erzeugen. Das Problem, dass es in Zukunft unzählige Tonnen Müll geben wird, muss in jedem Land von den Politikern gelöst werden, und alle Bürger dieses Planeten, der von uns so schlecht behandelt wird, müssen sich daran beteiligen. Um mehr über dieses Thema zu erfahren, haben wir uns mit dem Beauftragten für Müll des Cabildo von Fuerteventura, Luciano Barrio, unterhalten. Wir wollten von ihm ganz genau über die neuen Maschinen für die Erzeugung von ökologischem Kompost informiert werden. Dies ist ein großer Fortschritt und ein sehr wichtiges Thema. Welche Vorteile haben diese Maschinen für die Insel und wann werden sie in Betrieb genommen? Wir arbeiten seit mehr als zwei Jahren an diesem Projekt, und endlich wurde es durch den Kauf eines Bio- Müllzerkleinerers und eines Wenders verwirklicht, mit denen wir nun in der Anlage von Zurita Kompost herstellen können. In die beiden Maschinen wurden ungefähr 200.000€ investiert, und wir hoffen, den Landwirten der Insel einen hervorragenden Kompost zu einem erschwinglichen Preis verkaufen zu können. Für diese Anlage wurde ein über 100.000 m2 großes Gelände hergerichtet. Wir haben uns schon mit den ökologischen Landwirtschaftsverbänden in Verbindung gesetzt, und die sind total begeistert. Wir rechnen damit, dass der erste Kompost in spätestens drei Monaten fertig ist. Aus welcher Art von Abfall wird mit diesen Maschinen Kompost hergestellt? Aus allen organischen Abfällen, die beim Beschneiden von Bäumen und bei der Gartenarbeit entstehen und aus Holz. Dies ist ein Hightech- Bio-Müllzerkleinerer, der von der Lieferfirma an die besonderen Eigenschaften und Bedürfnisse unserer Anlage angepasst wurde. Außerdem kann man ihn je nach Bedarf verstellen. Was machte man früher mit den Abfällen, die von nun an für Kompost verwendet werden? Da man sie nicht verbrennen konnte, wurden sie komprimiert und eingegraben, um die Umwelt nicht zu verschmutzen. Viele Leute fragen sich, wie effizient das Recyceln wirklich ist? Leichte Verpackungen und alles, was in den gelben Müllcontainer kommt, wird recycelt und kommt in eine Transferanlage: Dort werden die verschieden Verpackungen zuerst getrennt und sortiert, und dann werden sie aufs spanische Festland geschickt, wo recycelt wird. Das Glas, das in der Anlage von Zurita ankommt, wird vorbehandelt und nach Las Palmas geschickt, wo es eine Anlage für die Wiederverwertung von Glas gibt. Papier und Pappe werdenauch aufs spanische Festland geschickt.

Auf den Kanaren wird nur Glas recycelt, und in Zukunft sollen elektrische und elektronische Geräte auch hier recycelt werden. Zurzeit wird eine neue Anlage auf Teneriffa gebaut und wir hoffen, dass es bald in unserem Archipel eine Anlage für Papier und Pappe geben wird. Ist die Müllhalde von Zurita groß genug für so viel Müll? Die Anlage von Zurita war 256.000 m2 groß, und das war zu klein, aber die Regierung der Kanaren hat weitere 226.000 m2 enteignet, die bald zur Anlage von Zurita gehören werden. Wir hoffen, dass wir bald einen neuen Container für Abfall anschaffen, die Büros vergrößern und einen Saal für unsere Besucher einrichten können. Heißt das, dass man die Anlage besichtigen kann? Ja, uns besuchen viele Schulen und verschiedene Gruppen und wir hoffen, dass dadurch vor allem die jungen Leute zur Mülltrennung motiviert werden. Ich nutze die Gelegenheit, um all diejenigen, die die Anlage von Zurita kennenlernen möchten, einzuladen uns zu besuchen und sich anzuschauen, wie Mülltrennung funktioniert. Es gibt auch Abkommen mit autorisierten Unternehmen, die einige Materialien recyceln, die spätere wieder verwertet werden: Zum Beispiel Schrott sowie Haushalts- und Industriemüll. Womit beschäftigt sich Ihr Amt sonst noch? Unsere Arbeit hier hat mit Wasser und Müll zu tun, dazu gehört auch die Kontrolle Müllzentralen, von denen wir zurzeit drei auf der Insel haben: eine im Zentrum, eine im Norden und eine im Süden. Wir würden gerne mehr über Sie, die Person, die dieses Amt leitet, erfahren. Auf irgendeine Weise hatte ich immer mit Politik

zu tun. Zuerst war ich bei Asamblea Majorera und dann kam ich zu Coalición Canaria, außerdem bin ich stellvertretender Vorsitzende des örtlichen politischen Rates von La Oliva und Mitglied des politischen Rates der Insel. Ich habe mein Amt am 30. Oktober des vergangenen Jahres angetreten, und obwohl diese Arbeit neu für mich ist, schaffte ich es dank der Unterstützung der Regierungsfraktion und der Angestellten des Amtes, mich einzuarbeiten.

“Ecological farmers are enthusiastic about the new compost” FMHOY - Fuerteventura We are more and more conscious of the impact of the waste we produce daily in our homes and in general in our society. The long term problem of such a large amount of waste has to be faced by each country’s authorities; all of us around the world have to collaborate and be responsible towards this earth that we are handling so roughly. To obtain more information about this subject, we met the Cabildo’s Waste Management Councillor in Fuerteventura, Luciano Barrio, so that he could give us ample information about the new equipment that makes ecological compost, which is a great and very important step forward. What kind of advantages will this equipment bring to the island and when will it start being used? We have been preparing this Project for over two years which has finally materialised with the purchase of a bio-chipper shredder and a compost turner that will allow us to make compost within our installations in the Zurita plant. Both machines represent an investment of almost 200.000 € thanks to which we hope to provide a service that will bring the island’s farmers good quality compost at reasonable prices. 100.000 m2 of land have been converted for the installation of this equipment. We have already contacted ecological farmers’ associations who are enthusiastic. We hope to have the first compost ready within the next three months. What type of waste is used to produce compost with this equipment? All organic waste that comes from pruning, garden centre cleaning and various types of wood. Furthermore this bio-shredder is quite high-tech

and was especially adapted to the characteristics and necessities of our installations. It also allows us to adapt the shedding size according to requirements. What used to happen with the waste that will now be converted into compost? Everything used to be compacted and buried so that it could rot as nothing can be burned in order not to pollute the environment. Many people are wondering if recycling really makes a difference or if waste is just stored somewhere and nothing is done with it. Light containers and everything that goes in yellow containers is recycled and goes to a treatment plant where containers are divided. They are later sent to Mainland Spain for recycling. As for the glass, once

it gets to the Zurita plant, it is prepared to be sent to Las Palmas where there is a glass recycling plant. Paper and card board is also packed and sent to Mainland Spain. In the Canaries, we currently recycle glass. In the future we will recycle electrical and electronic appliances wastes (the plant is being built in Tenerife) and we hope to soon have a paper and card board recycling plant in the Archipelago also. Is the Zurita plant large enough for so much waste? The Zurita plant used to represent 256.000 m2 which was too small, but the Canarian Government has acquired another 226.000 m2 which will soon be part of the Environmental Zurita Complex. After the land has been urbanised, we hope to be able to create another container for liquid waste, increase the office space and create a reception area for the numerous visitors we receive. Does this mean that you get visitors at the plant? Yes, many schools and various associations visit the plant and we hope that this will motivate people, especially young people, to recycle their waste. We welcome anyone who wishes to find out more about the Zurita recycling plant, they can come along and see for themselves that we do recycle and that it is worth separating waste. We also have agreements with authorised businesses that recycle some material to be processed later, such as scrap metal or used oil, both industrial and kitchen oil. What other activities does this council take care of? Here our work takes care of everything related to water and waste, as well as the control of “puntos limpios” (public areas with recycling containers). At present we have three on the island: centre, north and south. We would like to find out more about you, as the person in charge of this Council. I have always been involved with politics in one way or another. First in the Asamblea Majorera and later with Coalición Canaria, I am also the vice-president of the Local Political Council of La Oliva and member of the Island’s Political Council. I took this position on 30th October last year and although this kind of work was quite new for me, thanks to the support of the government and the Council employees, I have been getting up to speed with it.

Fuerteventura: destino turístico entre los canarios Las Islas Canarias son destino vacacional por excelencia para el turismo nacional e internacional gracias, entre otras muchas virtudes, a sus inigualables parajes, a sus hermosas playas y a su clima privilegiado. Sin embargo, este verano la Consejería de Turismo del Gobierno de Fuerteventura ha puesto en marcha una campaña de promoción turística dirigida a los habitantes de las islas. Su finalidad es impulsar el turismo interinsular para lograr que los canarios apuesten por pasar el verano en el archipiélago. La campaña está estructurada en dos partes diferenciadas. Por un lado, una primera parte genérica, común a las siete islas, que se rodó en localizaciones de todo el archipiélago canario para que los habitantes de las islas afortunadas se queden en su comunidad autónoma para disfrutar del verano. Por otro lado, una segunda parte centrada en cada una de las islas, con anuncios propios, para potenciar los viajes y las visitas del resto de los canarios. FUERTEVENTURA En el caso de la isla de Fuerteventura, la campaña, promovida por la Consejería de Turismo del Cabildo en colaboración con el Gobierno de Canarias, tiene como eje principal las playas. De hecho, los anuncios promocionales, que han sido distribuidos en prensa, televisión y medios digitales, representan diversas situaciones en tres localizaciones principales: la playa de Sotavento, las dunas de Corralejo y el muelle pesquero de El Cotillo. La consejera de Turismo del Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Águeda Montelongo, ha valorado positivamente esta iniciativa, ya que “el turismo dentro de las propias islas es muy interesante en la medida que tiene un elevado gasto medio diario y se trata de escapadas breves, por lo que son una forma de turismo distinta a la tradicional, pero, su vez, un complemento perfecto”. However this summer the Tourism Council of Fuerteventura’s Cabildo as initiated a tourism promotional campaign aimed at the islands’ habitants. Its objective is to boost inter-island tourism and to get Canarians to spend the summer in the Canary Islands.

FUERTEVENTURA As for Fuerteventura, the campaign, promoted by the Cabildo’s Tourism Council in collaboration with the Canarian Government, is mainly based on beaches. “Pretendemos que los niños no olviden sus raíces” FMHOY - Fuerteventura

Nos hemos desplazado hasta Betancuria, para que Domingo Castellanos director de la escuela rural Alcaldesa Amparo Torres Beltrán nos explique como funciona esta escuela. ¿Cuánto tiempo lleva como director en esta escuela? Ya son catorce años, aunque nací en Gran Canaria, hace más de 30 años que cogí la maleta y me vine a Fuerteventura. Aunque he enseñado en todo tipo de centros, prefiero las escuelas rurales, donde la relación con los niños y las familias es más directa. Háblenos de esta escuela de Betancuria… Es una escuela rural unitaria donde, además de las labores propias escolares durante todo el curso, realizamos otras tareas relacionas con el trabajo de un huerto ecológico. Preparamos en el vivero las semillas y luego la tierra para su sembrado posterior recolección. En este trabajo también se involucran

los padres y los abuelos, dándonos opiniones, ayudándonos a preparar la tierra, etc. ¿Con qué intención llevan a cabo estas actividades? Pretendemos que los niños no olviden sus raíces, ya que Betancuria ha sido siempre una localidad inminentemente agrícola y ganadera. Queremos recuperar los cultivos tradicionales y queremos que los niños aprendan a cultivar para que puedan tener en su casa su propio huertito. Imaginamos que cuidar de una planta o de un animalito genera un sentimiento de responsabilidad en los niños… Efectivamente fomenta la responsabilidad en su personalidad, pero además sirve para que tomen conciencia de que detrás de cualquier producto que compras fácilmente en un supermercado, hay

un largo, lento y arduo trabajo. Es un esfuerzo del agricultor que deben valorar. ¿Cómo nace la idea de crear estos huertos escolares? Nosotros pertenecemos a un colectivo de escuelas rurales y de ahí surgió esta idea. Somos varias escuelas las que desde hace ya diez años llevamos este proyecto adelante. Algunas lo hacen en un pequeño espacio del jardín, en nuestro caso el abuelo de un alumno nos cedió una gavia, con los cual el cultivo es aún más igual al que sus padres y abuelos tuvieron. ¿Qué hacen con los productos de la cosecha? Cuando la producción es poca, unas veces la repartimos entre los niños o la sorteamos, a veces la venden en su propia casa y ellos llevan las cuentas de sus ventas. Pero otras veces, como por ejemplo hicimos el Día de Canarias, montamos un mercadillo en la plaza y ellos se encargan y se emocionan con el ritmo de las ventas. ¡De hecho fue todo un éxito! El dinero lo usamos para pagar las deudas y comprar más semillas y luego con el sobrante hacemos alguna excursión lúdica, como ir al Baku, etc. La lección: “trabajo, cosecha, dinero, disfrute”, es en si misma una buena lección, que quizás sería una buena idea incorporarla en otras escuelas... Las escuelas que no son unitarias normalmente no se lo plantean. ¿Qué es una escuela unitaria? Somos escuelas unitarias las que tenemos menos de cuatro aulas. Existe una tendencia a hacer desaparecer las escuelas rurales y nosotros luchamos por su subsistencia. El desplazar a los niños de sus ambiente haciéndolos que pasen un largo tiempo en carretera, no sólo es agotador y aburrido para ellos sino que además conlleva mucho riesgo. Aquí damos enseñanza a niños de tres a doce años, y cuando nos hablan de la dificultad que entraña enseñar a niños de dos o tres cursos en una misma aula, se olvidan que, aunque sean niños de un solo curso, el ritmo de atención y aprendizaje también difiere unos de otros, con lo que igualmente hay que prestarles una atención y enseñanza especializada dentro de una sola aula. Nosotros tenemos a favor que estas pequeñas escuelas rurales no tienen muchos niños que atender con lo que la atención personaliza es mas fácil. Para estos trabajos de huertos, ¿reciben alguna ayuda de los centros oficiales? Sí, los ayuntamientos cooperan con espacio o

preparando la gavia si esta en mal estado, a veces con materiales o semillas y a través de la Consejería hemos recibido alguna ayuda para estos huertos ecológicos. ¿Qué otras actividades hacen en esta escuela? Tenemos una biblioteca para niños y padres, con la intención de motivar la lectura tanto en los niños como en el resto de su familia, que ha sido muy bien acogida. Los padres solicitan los libros a través de sus hijos e intentamos que dediquen un tiempo junto a la lectura de sus respectivos libros. También nos cuidamos de nuestro propio jardín que antes lo hacía el Ayuntamiento; salvo la poda, todo lo además, riego por goteo, plantar, abono, limpieza etc., lo hacen los niños. Otro proyecto en marcha desde hace diez años es el reciclaje. Nuestros niños reciclan y separan en la escuela los distintos residuos, que antes teníamos que desplazar hasta un punto limpio. Ahora ya es más fácil, gracias a los contenedores que tenemos para cada material. Muchos de ellos motivaran a sus padres para que reciclen... Esa es la idea. También tenemos un encuentro mensual con las otras escuelas rurales, para ajustar actividades comunes, como pueden ser carnavales, navidad, etc., y así hacer que se relacionen entre ellos, dado que al estar estos pueblitos algo alejados entre sí, no hay tanta comunicación para los niños. Y nuestro proyecto estrella, es el viaje que realizamos cada año a una isla del archipiélago. Lo hacemos con las otras escuelas rurales que pertenecen al grupo Antigua – Betancuria. Preparamos el viaje en clase, para que no sea sólo un paseo, sino un aprendizaje, activo y cultural. Visitamos los lugares que hemos preparado en la escuela y también la idea es conocer sus costumbres, gastronomía, etc. También aprenden a usar los distintos transportes públicos y a convivir con otros niños. Este año la emoción ha sido usar el tranvía, ya que fuimos a Tenerife. ¿Y van con todos los niños? Sí, desde los más pequeños hasta los mayores. Los padres colaboran muy bien en estos viajes. Pues les felicitamos y deseamos que sirva de ejemplo esta labor y que pueda verse reflejada en otros centros de enseñanza independientemente del tamaño.

Wir sind nach Betancuria gefahren, um uns von Domingo Castellanos, dem Schulleiter der Dorfschule Alcaldesa Amparo Torres Beltrán, erklären zu lassen wie diese Schule funktioniert. Wie lange sind Sie schon Schulleiter an dieser Schule? Schon seit vierzehn Jahren. Ich wurde zwar auf Gran Canaria geboren, aber ich packte schon vor mehr als 30 Jahren meinen Koffer und kam nach Fuerteventura. Obwohl ich in jeder Art von Schulen unterrichtet habe, bevorzuge ich die Dorfschulen, wo man einen engeren Kontakt zu den Kindern und deren Familie hat. Erzählen Sie uns etwas von dieser Schule in Betancuria…

Es ist eine ländliche Zwergschule, in der wir neben der normalen Lehrtätigkeit das ganze Schuljahr über auch Arbeiten im ökologischen Obst- und Gemüsegarten durchführen. Wir bereiten zuerst die Samen im Gewächshaus vor und dann richten wir das Gelände her, um zu säen und später zu ernten. An dieser Arbeit werden auch die Eltern und Großeltern beteiligt, indem sie ihre Erfahrungen einbringen und uns dabei helfen, das Gelände herzurichten. Was wird mit diesen Aktivitäten bezweckt? Wir möchten, dass die Kinder ihre Wurzeln nicht vergessen, da die Landwirtschaft und die Viehzucht in Betancuria immer eine große Bedeutung hatten. Wir möchten die traditionellen Kulturpflanzen wieder einführen. Die Kinder sollen lernen diese anzubauen, damit sie sich zuhause ihren eigenen Obst- und Gemüsegarten herrichten können. Wir vermuten, dass Kinder lernen, Verantwortung zu übernehmen, indem sie sich um eine Pflanze oder ein kleines Tier kümmern… Das stimmt. Die Verantwortung ist gut für die Entwicklung ihrer Persönlichkeit, außerdem führt diese Tätigkeit dazu, dass sich die Kinder darüber bewusst werden, dass hinter jedem Produkt, das man im Supermarkt kaufen kann, ein langer und langsamer Arbeitsprozess steht. Sie sollen die Arbeit des Landwirts schätzen lernen. Wie entstand die Idee, diese Schulgärten zu gründen? Diese Idee entstand in der Gruppe der Dorfschulen, zu der wir gehören. Dieses Projekt wird von mehreren

Schulen schon seit zehn Jahren durchgeführt. Einige tun es in ihrem kleinen Garten, wir dagegen bekamen eine Gavia von dem Großvater eines Schülers, wodurch unsere Landwirtschaft noch mehr der der Eltern und Großeltern ähnelt. Was machen Sie mit der Ernte? Wenn es wenig ist, verteilen wir sie unter den Kindern oder verlosen sie, manchmal verkaufen die Kinder die Produkte auch an ihre Familien. Manchmal veranstalten wir auch einen kleinen Markt auf dem Dorfplatz, und die Kinder sind für den Verkauf zuständig, was sie begeistert. Das haben wir zum Beispiel am Tag der Kanaren gemacht. Es war ein großer Erfolg! Wir verwenden das Geld, um Schulden zu bezahlen und um mehr Samen zu kaufen. Mit dem was übrig bleibt machen wir einen Ausflug, wir besuchen zum Beispiel den Baku usw. Die Unterrichtseinheit: “Arbeit, Saat, Geld, freu dich darüber” ist an sich schon gut und vielleicht wäre es eine gute Idee, sie auch an anderen Schulen einzuführen... Normalerweise kommen nur Zwergschulen auf die Idee. Was ist eine Zwergschule? Grundschulen mit weniger als vier Klassenzimmern sind Zwergschulen. Viele Dorfschulen werden aufgegeben und wir kämpfen dafür, dass sie bleiben. Wenn die Kinder viel Zeit auf die Fahrt zu einer entfernten Schule verlieren, ist dies nicht nur langweilig und anstrengend für sie, sondern auch gefährlich. Hier unterrichten wir 3- bis 12-jährige Kinder und wenn darüber gesprochen wird, wie schwierig es ist, Kinder mit einem Altersunterschied von zwei bis drei Jahren in einem Klassenzimmer zu unterrichten, wird vergessen, dass auch in einer altershomogenen Klasse die Kinder nicht alle gleich schnell lernen. Der Vorteil der ländlichen Schulen ist, dass sie nicht viele Schüler haben, wodurch es leichter ist, sich um alle zu kümmern. Bekommen Sie offizielle Unterstützung für diese landwirtschaftliche Arbeit? Ja, die Gemeinden unterstützen uns, indem sie uns das Gelände zur Verfügung stellen oder eine Gavia herrichten, und manchmal geben sie uns Material oder Samen. Wir haben auch schon Hilfen der

Gemeinden für die ökologischen Obst- und Gemüsegärten bekommen. Was für Aktivitäten gibt es in Ihrer Schule noch? Wir haben eine Bibliothek für Kinder und Eltern, um sowohl die Kinder als auch die übrige Familie zum Lesen anzuregen. Es besteht eine große Nachfrage, die Eltern lassen sich von ihren Kindern die Bücher mitbringen, und wir versuchen zu erreichen, dass die Familien Zeit miteinander verbringen, in der jeder in seinem Buch ließt. Wir kümmern uns auch um unseren eigenen Schulgarten, das tat früher die Gemeinde. Wir machen alles außer dem Beschneiden der Bäume; die Kinder bewässern, pflanzen, düngen, machen sauber usw. Außerdem recyceln wir seit zehn Jahren. Unsere Kinder recyceln und machen Mülltrennung in der Schule. Vorher mussten wir den Abfall wegbringen, jetzt ist es leichter, da wir hier verschiedene Müllcontainer haben. Bestimmt bringen viele der Kinder ihre Eltern zum Recyceln... Darum geht es. Wir treffen uns auch einmal im Monat mit den anderen Dorfschulen, um gemeinsame Aktivitäten wie Fasching, Weihnachtsfeiern usw. zu planen. So fördern wir auch die Kontakte, denn da diese Orte weit von einander entfernt liegen, haben die Kinder nicht viel Gelegenheit sich zu treffen. Unser schönstes Projekt ist eine Reise, die wir jedes Jahr auf eine andere Insel des Archipels machen. Wir machen das zusammen mit mehreren Dorfschulen der Gruppe Antigua – Betancuria. Wir bereiten die Reise im Unterricht vor, damit die Kinder auf der Reise auch etwas lernen und sich an Aktivitäten beteiligen. Wir besuchen die Orte, die wir im Unterricht behandelt haben, außerdem sollen die Kinder die Bräuche und die Gastronomie dieser Orte kennenlernen. Dieses Jahr waren wir in Teneriffa, und es war ein großes Erlebnis, mit der Straßenbahn zu fahren. Kommen alle Kinder mit? Ja alle, von den kleinsten bis zu den größten. Auch die Eltern kollaborieren bei diesen Reisen. Wir beglückwünschen Sie und wünschen uns, dass ihre Arbeit ein Beispiel für andere Schulen jeder Größe wird.

“Our objective is for children not to forget their roots” FMHOY - Fuerteventura We have travelled to Betancuria to meet Domingo Castellanos who will explain to us how Alcaldesa Amparo Torres Beltrán rural school works. How long have you been the director of this school? It has already been fourteen years. I was born in Gran Canaria but I packed by bags over 30 years ago and moved to Fuerteventura. I have taught in all kinds of schools but I prefer rural schools where the relationship with children and families is more direct. Tell us more about this school in Betancuria… It is a one-room school where in addition to the year long actual school tasks, we carry out other tasks related to an ecological orchard. We prepare the seeds in the nursery and later get the soil ready for sowing. Parents and grand-parents also have an input by giving their opinions, helping to prepare the soil, etc. What is the purpose of those activities? Our objective is for children not to forget about their roots. Betancuria has always been an agricultural and livestock farming community and we aim to bring back traditional farming and get children to learn to cultivate so that they can have their own little garden at home. We guess that taking care of a plant or an animal makes children become more responsible… That is true, it develops responsibility in their personality, but it also makes them realise that behind any type of product they purchase in supermarkets, there is a long, slow and hard work. They have to be aware of the amount of work carried out by farmers. How did you get the idea of creating those school orchards? We belong to an association of rural schools and this is where the idea stemmed from. We are a few schools to have adhered to this project over the past ten years. Some do it in a small area of a garden, in our case the grand-father of one of the school children gave us a “gavia” (plot surrounded by walls of earth), which means that the farming is even more similar to that of their parents and grand-parents. What do you do with the products harvested? When the harvest is small, we share it amongst school children or we draw, sometimes they sell it from their own home and bring back the profits from their sale. But sometimes, as we did on Día de Canarias, we create a little market stall on the main square and children do the selling and get excited as the products get sold. It was actually a real success!

The money was used to pay debts and purchase more seeds and later with the excess we paid for some days out like going to the Baku water-park, etc. The lesson: “Work, Harvest, Earn, Enjoy” is a good lesson in itself, maybe other schools should do the same ... Schools that are not one-room schools don’t tend to go for it. What is a one-room school? Those are schools that have less than four classrooms. Rural schools are disappearing and we are fighting for their survival. Taking children away from their environment, making them spend a long time travelling is tiring and boring for them and it can also be dangerous. Here we teach children who are between three and twelve years old and when people talk about the difficulties of teaching to children from two or three different levels in one classroom, they forget that although children are in the same grade, the attention level and learning rhythm varies from one child to another and therefore there should be specialised attention and teaching within one classroom. We have the advantage that those small schools have reduced amounts of school children and it is easier to provide personalised attention. For this type of work in the orchard, do you get any type of help from the authorities? Yes, Ayuntamientos cooperate with space or by preparing the “gavias” if they are in poor condition, sometime with equipment or seeds and the Council

has given us some help also. What other activities are there in this school? We have a library for children and parents, this is to promote reading for both children and their families, which got a good response. Parents ask for books via their children and we try to get them to share some reading time together. We also take care of our own garden that used to be cared for by the Ayuntamiento; apart from pruning children do everything else: irrigation system, planting, fertiliser, cleaning, etc. Another project that has been in place for the past ten years is recycling. Children recycle and separate waste in the school which we used to have to take to a “punto limpio”. Now it is easier thanks to the containers that we have for each type of waste. A lot of them should be able to motivate their parents to recycle too... This is the objective. We also have a monthly meeting with other rural schools to update common projects such as Carnivals, Christmas, etc. and this helps children to keep in touch with others as those villages are quite isolated which makes it difficult for communication. And our main project is the trip that we make each year to one of the islands of the archipelago. We do it with other rural schools that belong to the Antigua – Betancuria group. We prepare the trip during classes, so that it is not just a vacation, but an active and cultural training. We visit sites that we studied in class and we find out about customs, gastronomy, etc. Children also learn how to use different public transports and how to cohabitate with other children. This year the exciting part was using the tramway when we went to Tenerife. Do all children get to go? Yes, from the youngest ones to the eldest ones. Parents also collaborate very well during those trips. Well we congratulate you and hope this can be used as an example for other independent schools of that size.

“Dedicarme de forma profesional a la música es mi mayor satisfacción” FMHOY - Fuerteventura Esta joven mujer que a pesar de parecer casi adolescente, cuenta con una carrera musical muy dilatada, alterna su ocupación de madre y esposa con su trabajo de profesora de canto en la escuela musical Pentagrama de Puerto del Rosario. Comenzó su andadura musical a los tres años dando clases de canto en la escuela en la que su madre ejercía de profesora de folclore en Las Palmas. Continuó cantando en diferentes rondallas, hasta que con solo 6 años comenzó como solista, en La Isleta que es su pueblo natal, y fue así como la solicitaron para actuar en Tenderete, programa muy conocido de folclore canario en televisión. También fue una de las niñas que nos entusiasmaron en el programa televisivo “Menudas Estrellas” de Antena 3, con sus imitaciones de Paloma San Basilio con solo 10 años, puesto que también comenzó a cantar música ligera desde los siete.

el año pasado, y volveré a actuar participar este mes de julio. También he cantado junto con Domingo “El Colorao” en eventos del ayuntamiento o del Cabildo y, a veces al solicitar desde aquí solistas a otras islas para ciertas actividades folclóricas, les recuerdan que aunque soy de Las Palmas vivo aquí, ya que me casé con un majorero. Sí por cierto, después de tanto moverte y conocer gente te atrapó un majorero... Sí..., y me siento muy bien, aunque sólo venía de vacaciones y ya llevo cinco años en Fuerteventura. A veces añoro mi playa de Las Canteras, pero tengo que reconocer que es una gran calidad de vida la que he conseguido aquí, sobre todo pensando en mis hijas. ¿Crees que alguna de tus niñas ha heredado tu voz? Sí, pienso que la mayor, aunque sólo tiene tres años, parece que ya despunta.

Háblanos de tus comienzos... Tuve el privilegio de tener como profesora de canto a Beatriz Alonso, que es profesora de profesores y de las mejores de las islas. Estuve en la filarmónica y también en el coro de Voces Blancas de Telde, pero saber aplicar la técnica en lo que tú cantas, en cualquier estilo, es algo que aprendí con ella. ¿En qué otros programas has actuado? En Veo-Veo nacional, y Veo-Veo internacional, con niños de todo el mundo, y también en La Bodega de Julián. Estos programas, junto con Menudas Estrellas me permitieron cantar con Paloma San Basilio en el carnaval de Las Palmas y también he actuado junto con el trío mexicano Los Panchos y en programas como Sabor a Ti. ¿Actuar en televisión desde tan pequeña, te ha dejado bonitos recuerdos o ha sido agotador? Fue una experiencia maravillosa que me ha dejado una bonita huella. Gane en Veo-Veo varios premios entre ellos el premio a mejor voz de Gran Canaria y también el premio Hispamusic que me permitió grabar, con otros niños ganadores, un disco. ¿Poder dedicarte de forma profesional a la música es una satisfacción para ti? Sí, es lo que me gusta y aunque siempre sigo aprendiendo, me encanta poder trasmitir a otros mis conocimientos y mis clases, tanto a niños como adultos, llenan esa parte de mi vocación. Es por esto que en los cursos de verano, que comienzan ahora en julio además de canto, voy a impartir clases de interpretación para los niños. ¿Aparte de dar clases en Puerto del Rosario, sigues cantando de manera habitual? Sí, por ejemplo, el año pasado me presenté al primer encuentro de cantantes solistas, que se realizó en Teror, para las fiestas de la Virgen del Pino en septiembre. Se presentan rondallas y solistas de todas las islas y se eligen a los dos mejores solistas de cada una y yo estuve entre ellos. Este año, vuelvo a presentarme, aunque suelo ir de forma habitual a los encuentros de solitas que se realizan en todas las islas. Dentro de los distintos tipos de cantos folclóricos, ¿cuál es el que más te gusta o con el que mejor te sientes? Aquí, les llamamos “las tres Marías”, isas, folías y malagueñas, que son las más habituales, aunque en cada isla se cantan con un estilo diferente. Pero sobre todo lo que más me emociona son los “arrorrós”, que son canciones de cuna. Tuve el privilegio de cantar uno en La Bodega de Julián con mi hija mayor que entonces era bebe, en brazos. ¿Qué más cosas has realizado dentro del campo de la música? También he actuado como protagonista en musi-

Conejo estofado con aceitunas INGREDIENTES para 2 personas: 1/2 conejo 10 dientes de ajo 1 tomate 4 cebolletas 1 vaso de vino blanco 1 vaso de caldo 1 rama de romero 1 ramita de tomillo 1 puñado de aceitunas negras Harina Sal 5-6 granos de pimienta negra 3/4 de vaso de aceite de oliva virene extra PREPARACIÓN: Se trocea el conejo. Se salpimenta, se pasa por harina y se fríe en aceite bien caliente. En cuanto se le de la vuelta, se incorporan los dientes de ajo con la piel. En cuanto cojan color, se añade el vino blanco, el tomate despepitado y troceado, las cebolletas en trozos grandes, el romero y el tomillo. Se deja evaporar un poco el vino y se le añade el caldo, las aceitunas y los granos de pimienta. Se termina de hacer en el horno unos 30-35 minutos.

“Für mich ist es eine große Freude, mich der Musik widmen zu können” FMHOY - Fuerteventura

Diese Frau hat eine sehr umfangreiche musikalische Karriere hinter sich, obwohl sie fast wie eine Jugendliche wirkt. Sie verbindet ihre Tätigkeit als Mutter und Ehefrau mit ihrer Arbeit als Lehrerin an der Musikschule Pentagrama in Puerto del Rosario. Sie hat ihren musikalischen Werdegang als Dreijährige begonnen. Damals nahm sie Unterricht in Las Palmas in der Schule, in der ihre Mutter Folklore unterrichtete. Sie sang in mehreren Rondallas Musikgruppen), und als 6-Jährige- begann sie als Solistin in ihrem Heimatort La Isleta. Daraufhin wurde sie eingeladen, in dem sehr bekannten Folkloreprogramm des kanarischen Fernsehens Tenderete aufzutreten. Außerdem gehörte sie zu den Mädchen, die uns in dem Fernsehprogramm “Menudas Estrellas”, das von de Antena 3 ausgestrahlt wurde, begeisterten. Dort imitierte sie als 10-Jährige Paloma San Basilio. Sie hatte als 7-Jährige begonnen, Schlager zu singen. Erzählen Sie uns bitte etwas darüber, wie Sie angefangen haben? Ich hatte das Glück, Beatriz Alonso als Gesangslehrerin zu haben, die eine großartige Lehrerin ist und zu den besten der Inseln gehört. Ich war im Philharmonieorchester und auch im Coro de Voces Blancas in Telde, aber bei ihr habe ich gelernt, Techniken anzuwenden und alle Stile singen zu können. In welchen Programmen sind Sie sonst noch aufgetreten? Ich bin mit Kindern aus der ganzen Welt in VeoVeo nacional und Veo-Veo internacional aufgetreten, außerdem habe ich auch in La Bodega de Julián gesungen. Diese Programme und Menudas Estrellas ermöglichten es mir, zusammen mit Paloma San Basilio beim Karneval von Las Palmas zu singen. Außerdem bin ich mit dem mexikanischen Trio Los Panchos und in Programmen wie Sabor a Ti aufgetreten. Haben Sie schöne Erinnerungen daran, dass Sie von klein auf im Fernsehen aufgetreten sind, oder war das sehr anstrengend? Es war eine wunderbare Erfahrung, die mich geprägt hat. Ich habe verschiedene Preise in Veo-Veo gewonnen, unter anderen den für die beste Stimme von Gran Canaria und auch den Premio Hispamusic, der es mir ermöglichte, zusammen mit weiteren preisgekrönten Kindern ein Platte aufzunehmen. Ist es für Sie eine Genugtuung, dass Sie sich der Musik auf professioneller Ebene widmen können? Ja, ich mach das gerne, und obwohl ich immer noch

dabei bin zu lernen, bin ich davon begeistert, dass ich mein Wissen weitergeben kann. Diese Berufung befriedige ich durch meinen Unterricht für Kinder und Erwachsene. Deshalb werde ich im Rahmen der Sommerkurse

im Juli neben dem Gesangsunterricht auch Interpretationsunterricht für Kinder geben. Singen Sie noch regelmäßig oder geben Sie nur Gesangsunterricht in Puerto del Rosario? Ja, zum Beispiel im vergangenen Jahr habe ich am ersten Treffen für Solosänger teilgenommen, das im September in Teror im Rahmen des Festes der Virgen del Pino stattfand. Dort treten Rondallas und Solisten aller Inseln auf. Es werden die zwei besten Solisten jeder Insel gewählt, und ich gehörte dazu. Dieses Jahr mache ich wieder mit, und auch sonst fahre ich regelmäßig zu den Solistentreffen auf allen Inseln. Welchen Folklorestil singen Sie am liebsten? Hier nennen wir diese Gesänge “die drei Marias”, Isas, Folías und Malagueñas. Es sind die üblichsten, aber auf jeder Insel werden sie anders gesungen. Aber am meisten bewegen mich die Wiegenlieder, die “Arrorrós” genannt werden. Ich hatte das Privileg, eines dieser Wiegenlieder in La Bodega de Julián zu singen. Dabei hatte ich meine älteste Tochter, die damals ein Baby war, im Arm. Was haben Sie sonst noch im Bereich der Musik gemacht? Ich bin in Las Palmas auch in Musicals für Kinder aufgetreten, außerdem habe ich als 13-Jährige eine Platte mit Schlagern aufgenommen. Das war eine tolle Erfahrung. Ich habe mit den Schlagern auch an Festivals des Archipels teilgenommen und mehrere Preise gewonnen. Und auf Fuerteventura? Ich bin mehrmals im Fernsehen aufgetreten und habe im vergangenen Jahr den Wettbewerb des Centro Comercial Atlántico in El Castillo gewonnen. Ich werde auch im Juli wieder mitmachen. Außerdem bin ich zusammen mit Domingo “El Colorao” bei Veranstaltungen der Gemeinde und des Cabildo aufgetreten. Manchmal, wenn hier Solisten von anderen Inseln für gewisse Folkloreveranstaltungen gesucht werden, wird daran erinnert, dass ich aus Las Palmas bin und hier lebe, weil ich mit einem Einheimischen verheiratet bin. Nachdem Sie so viel gereist sind hat einer von der Insel Sie in die Falle gelockt. Die Männer aus Fuerteventura sind gefährlich...! Ja... und ich fühle mich hier wohl. Früher kam ich nur im Urlaub hierher, und nun lebe ich schon fünf Jahre auf Fuerteventura. Manchmal vermisse ich meinen Strand von Las Canteras, aber ich muss zugeben, dass ich hier eine hervorragende Lebensqualität habe, vor allem wenn ich an meine Töchter denke. Glauben Sie dass eine Ihrer Töchter ihre Stimme geerbt hat? Ja, ich glaube die Älteste, obwohl sie erst drei Jahre alt ist, beginnt sie schon sich hervor zu tun. Belen wir wünschen Ihnen, dass Sie weiterhin so viel Erfolg haben wie bis jetzt und dass die Leute ihre wunderschöne Stimme genießen können.

“Dedicating myself professionally to music is my greatest satisfaction” FMHOY - Fuerteventura This young woman, who almost looks like a teenager, actually has a long musical career behind her and alternates between her role as a mother and wife with her career as singing teacher in the Pentagrama musical school in Puerto del Rosario. She started her musical path at three years of age singing in the school where her mother used to teach folklore in Las Palmas. She continued singing in various groups until she started as a soloist at the age of six in La Isleta which was her home town and this is when she was asked to sing in Tenderete a very well known Canarian folklore television programme. She was also one of the children who amazed us in the television programme “Menudas Estrellas” on Antena 3, with her imitations of Paloma San Basilio at the young age of 10, and had started singing popular music from the age of seven. Tell us about the beginning of your career? I had the privilege of having Beatriz Alonso as singing teacher who teaches teachers and is one of the best in the archipelago. I sang in the philharmonic and also in the “Voces Blancas” choir in Telde, but to know how to apply technique when you sing whichever style of music is what I learned with her. Which other programmes did you participate in? I participated in Veo-Veo and Veo-Veo internacional, with “niños de todo el mundo” (children from all over the world) and also in La Bodgea de Julián. Those programmes, together with Menudas Estrellas allowed me to sing with Paloma San Basilio during Las Palmas Carnival and I also sang with the Mexican trio Los Panchos in programmes such as Sabor a Ti. Being on television from such a young age left you good memories or was it exhausting? It was a wonderful experience which was very positive for me. In Veo-Veo I won various awards of which the award for best voice in Gran Canaria and also the Hispamusic award that allowed me to make a record with the other winners. Dedicating yourself professionally to music is a satisfaction for you?

Un look de verano... ¿Te atreves? El verano ya está aquí, y junto con él llegan las nuevas tendencias y la moda más alegre. Saleire Peluquería nos recomienda un “look” tarde-noche para estar radiante después de un día de playa. Es muy fácil. ¿Te atreves? Primero aplica espuma fijadora y seca tu cabello utilizando el difusor, si lo haces con la cabeza hacia abajo conseguirás un mayor volumen. A continuación, debes crepar (cardar) toda la raíz del cabello. Luego, peinas superficialmente respetando el volumen que hemos logrado puliendo todo el crepado. Ahora recoge toda la melena en la zona de la nuca con una coleta elástica. El siguiente paso es crepar todo el pelo de la coleta quitando el efecto de la espuma, desenfadando la melena alcanzando un gran volumen. ¿Divertido, verdad? Esconde la coleta elástica enrollando un fino mechón de pelo al rededor de ella. Si lo que quieres es un “look” de noche coloca sobre la coleta un broche de strass. Pero si lo que buscas es que todos se fijen en tí, decora tu moño con una bonita flor. Es fácil y muy divertido, ¡atrévete!

Yes, this is what I like and although I keep on learning, I love being able to transmit my knowledge to others, both children and adults, this fulfils this side of my vocation. This is the reason why, during the summer courses which is starting in July, in addition to singing, I will teach children interpretation. Apart from teaching in Puerto del Rosario, do you still sing? Yes I do, for example last year I participated in the first encounter of soloists singers which took place in Teror for the celebrations of Virgen del Pino in September. Groups and soloists came from all the islands

and the two best soloists of each group were chosen and I was one of them. This year I will participate again although I regularly go to soloist encounters all over the islands. Amongst the different types of folkloric songs, which one do you prefer and which one do you feel closest to? Here we call them “las tres Marías”, isas, folías and malagueñas which are the most common ones although they are sung in different manners on each island. But above all, those that I am most moved about are the “arrorrós” which are lullabies. I had the privilege of singing one in La Bodega de Julián with my eldest daughter in my arms who was a baby at the time. What else have you achieved in the music field? I also acted as a protagonist in children’s musicals in Las Palmas and I made a record when I was 13. It was a great experience. I also participated and won various awards in festivals in the archipelago singing popular music. And in Fuerteventura? I appeared various times on television and won the competition in the Atlantico Commercial Centre in El Castillo last year where I will participate again this July. I have also sung with Domingo “El Colorao” in events organised by the Ayuntamiento or the Cabildo and sometimes when they ask soloists from other islands to come for folkloric events, I remind them that I am from Las Palmas although I live here because I married a Majorero. Yes of course, alter moving around so much and knowing so many people, you ended up marrying a Majorero! Yes I did! And I feel really good here although I only used to come here on holidays and I have now been living in Fuerteventura for five years. Sometimes I miss my beach of Las Canteras but I have to admit that the quality of life here is great and my daughters are my main concern. Do you think one of your daughters might have inherited your voice? Yes, I think my eldest has, although she is only three but she seems to be standing out already. Belén, we wish you to continue with your successful career and collecting awards as you have been doing, letting others enjoy the beautiful instrument that is your voice.

Las Islas Canarias cuentan con 37 Banderas Azules FMHOY - Fuerteventura

La distinción certifica que playas y puertos cumplen criterios como la accesibilidad, la información ambiental, la sostenibilidad o la calidad de las aguas. Las Islas Canarias afrontan el verano 2010 con 37 Banderas Azules ondeando en numerosas playas (34) y puertos deportivos (3) del archipiélago. A nivel nacional, España puede presumir este año de haber sido merecedora de 605 Banderas Azules repartidas entre 521 playas y 84 puertos. 1 de cada 6 playas han logrado este certificado de calidad y sitúan a España como el país del hemisferio norte con más distintivos. Sin embargo, aunque 1 de cada 6 distinciones de todo el mundo sea para nuestro país, solo un 16% de todo el litoral español están bajo Bandera Azul. Respecto a 2009, este año las costas españolas han conseguido 34 galardones más (28 de playas y 6 de puertos), pese a que los criterios de concesión se han endurecido considerablemente. El archipiélago canario, por su parte, ha sumado dos Banderas Azules a las del año pasado. PLAYAS DE FUERTEVENTURA La isla de Fuerteventura ha obtenido este galardón para Gran Tarajal, Costa Calma, Solana Matorral, Butihondo, Grandes Playas, La Concha y Blanca. De estas playas, la de La Concha, en el Cotillo, puede lucir con orgullo, por primera vez, una Bandera Azul. En el sur de la isla, el municipio de Pájara mantiene las banderas logradas en 2009. QUÉ ES UNA BANDERA AZUL La Bandera Azul es un reconocimiento a las playas y a los puertos deportivos sostenibles aceptado y respetado a nivel mundial. Esta bandera certifica unas correctas condiciones sanitarias, de seguridad, de higiene, de accesibilidad, de información, de salvamento y de atención a personas discapacitadas.Una garantía de un nuevo modelo de turismo que, más allá de sol y playa, ofrece calidad, respeto al medio ambiente y accesibilidad, entre otros valores. De este modo, se trabaja por la mejora y conservación del litoral, uno de los grandes activos del turismo, para potenciar el equilibrio medioambiental. La Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor (AEDAC), con el patrocinio de la Comisión Europea, es la responsable de entregar estos galardones en España. En el año 1985, la Fundación para la Educación Ambiental (FEE) creó, en Francia, el Programa Bandera Azul. Tres años más tarde, con motivo de la celebración en 1987 del Año Europeo del Medio Ambiente, el programa se extendió a toda la Comunidad Europea.

Die kanarischen Inseln verfügen über 37 Blaue Fahnen FMHOY - Fuerteventura

Mit dieser Auszeichnung wird bescheinigt dass Strände und Häfen Kriterien wie Zugänglichkeit, Umweltinformation, Nachhaltigkeit und Wasserqualität erfüllen. Die kanarischen Inseln beginnen den Sommer 2010 mit 37 blauen Fahnen, die an verschiedenen Stränden (34) und Sporthäfen (3) des Archipels wehen. Spanien kann sich auf internationaler Ebene 605 blauer Fahnen rühmen, welche an 521 Stränden und in 84 Häfen wehen. Einer von sechs Stränden schaffte es, diese Qualitätsbescheinigung zu erhalten, wodurch Spanien auf der nördlichen Halbkugel zu dem Land mit den meisten blauen Fahnen wird. Obwohl jede 6. dieser Auszeichnungen an unser Land geht, verfügt nur 16% der spanischen Küste über eine blaue Fahne. Dieses Jahr haben die spanischen Küsten 34 Auszeichnungen mehr erhalten als im Jahr 2009 (28 Strände und 6 Häfen), obwohl die Kriterien deutlich strenger geworden sind. Der kanarische Archipel hat zwei blaue Fahnen mehr bekommen als im vergangenen Jahr. STRÄNDE VON FUERTEVENTURA Die Insel Fuerteventura hat diese Auszeichnung für Gran Tarajal, Costa Calma, Solana Matorral, Butihondo, Grandes Playas, La Concha und Blanc erhalten.

Unter diesen Stränden kann der von La Concha in El Cotillo stolz darauf sein, dass er zum ersten Mal mit der blauen Fahne ausgezeichnet wurde.

Im Süden der Insel behält die Gemeinde Pájara weiterhin die Fahnen, mit denen sie 2009 ausgezeichnet worden ist. WAS IST EINE BLAUE FAHNE? Die blaue Fahne ist eine international gültige Anerkennung für nachhaltige Strände und Sporthäfen. Mit dieser Fahne werden korrekte Bedingungen bescheinigt, welche die sanitären Anlagen, die Hygiene, die Zugänglichkeit, die Information, den Rettungsdienst und die Betreuung für Behinderte betreffen. Eine Garantie für ein neues Tourismusmodel, das außer Sonne und Strand unter anderem auch Respekt für die Umwelt und Zugänglichkeit bietet. Auf diese Weise wird an der Verbesserung und am Erhalt der Küste gearbeitet, welche zu den bedeutenden Aktiva des Tourismus gehört, um das natürliche Gleichgewicht zu stärken. Der Verband für Umwelterziehung und Verbraucher (AEDAC) ist unter Schirmherrschaft der europäischen Kommission dafür verantwortlich, diese Preise in Spanien zu vergeben. 1985 schuf der Verband für Umwelterziehung (FEE) in Frankreich das Programm der blauen Fahnen. 1987, drei Jahre später, wurde das Programm zum Anlass des europäischen Jahres der Umwelt auf die gesamte Europäische Gemeinschaft ausgedehnt.

The Canary Islands receive 37 Blue Flags This award confirms that beaches and harbours comply with criteria such as accessibility, environmental information, sustainable development or water quality. The Canary Islands are starting the summer 2010

season with 37 Blue Flags fluttering on many beaches (34) and leisure harbours (3) of the archipelago. On a national level, Spain can proudly show off for being awarded 605 Blue Flags this year amongst 521 beaches and 84 harbours. 1 in every 6 beaches has

been awarded this quality certificate which puts Spain in the leader’s position with the most awards in the northern hemisphere. However, although one in every six awards worldwide went to Spain, it means that only 16% of the entire Spanish coastline has been awarded the Blue Flag. Comparing with 2009, this year Spanish coasts have received 34 more awards this year (28 for beaches and 6 for harbours), despite the selection criteria that has considerably been toughened. The Canaries Archipelago as a whole has been awarded two Flags more than last year. BEACHES IN FUERTEVENTURA The Island of Fuerteventura has obtained this award for Gran Tarajal, Costa Calma, Solana Matorral, Butihondo, Grandes Playas, La Concha and Blanca. Out of those beaches, the beaches of La Concha and el Cotillo can proudly show off their very first Blue Flag. In the south of the island, the municipality of Pájara has maintained all the flags awarded in 2009. WHAT IS A BLUE FLAG The Blue flag is an award for recognised sustainable beaches and leisure harbours worldwide. This flag certifies appropriate sanitary conditions, safety, hygiene, accessibility, information, rescue and attention to disabled people. This is a guarantee for a new type of tourism which, apart from sun and beaches, offers values of quality, respect of the environment and accessibility, to name a few. Therefore, work is being carried out to enhance and preserve the coastline, which is a great asset for tourism, in order to improve the environment balance. The Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor – AEDAC – (Environmental Education and Consumer Association), sponsored by the European Commission, is responsible for handing out those awards in Spain. In 1985, the Environmental Foundation (FEE) created in France the Blue Flag Programme. Three years later, seizing the opportunity of the 1987 European Environment Year celebration, the programme was extended to the whole European Community.

Comidas ligeras para combatir el calor FMHOY - Fuerteventura El clima condiciona las necesidades del organismo y, con la subida de las temperaturas, los platos frescos y ligeros se convierten en protagonistas. El verano está cada vez más cerca y el ascenso de las temperaturas exige un cambio en la alimentación para adaptarse a las nuevas circunstancias y a las necesidades nutritivas del organismo. En primer lugar, el calor va unido a la deshidratación, por lo que la dieta debe tener un alto contenido de agua y de fibra para que el cuerpo esté siempre lo suficientemente nutrido e hidratado. De este modo, no solo el cuerpo sino también la piel, afectada por el efecto de los rayos del sol, estarán en buen estado. Con el avance de la primavera, los guisos van dejando paso a comidas con un proceso de cocción más corto. El cuerpo necesita menos calorías que en épocas frías, por lo que se debe recurrir a platos como las ensaladas, las sopas frías o las frutas, entre otros. Comidas refrescantes y ligeras que, aunque sacian el hambre, no resultan pesadas a la hora de hacer la digestión. Además, las frutas y verduras se convierten en auténticos protagonistas, ya que tienen un alto contenido en agua, vitaminas, fibra y otros nutrientes. LOS LÍQUIDOS La ingesta continua de líquidos es necesaria para combatir el calor, por lo que se recomienda beber unos dos litros diarios aproximadamente. En este caso, la bebida más recomendable siempre es el agua, que puede combinarse con otras como los zumos de frutas, que aportan vitaminas y minerales, pero pocas calorías. Otras opciones son los sorbetes o las sopas frías. Sin embargo, se desaconseja el consumo de bebidas industriales, ya que tienen un alto contenido en azúcares que, en lugar de calmar la sed, la generan.

FRUTAS Y VERDURAS DE TEMPORADA Utilizar en la cocina las verduras y las frutas de temporada es una elección muy acertada. El calabacín, la cebolla, la berenjena, la zanahoria, el pepino o el tomate, son solo algunas de las verduras que se encuentran en la frutería durante esta época. Respecto a las frutas, la variedad es enorme, con opciones como las fresas, las ciruelas, el melocotón, el melón o la sandía. Una fruta fresca es un buen postre, pero también un excelente tentempié. Saciantes, diuréticas y ricas en agua, las frutas típicas del verano son perfectas para compensar la transpiración corporal y el calor exterior. Respecto a cómo cocinarlas, las posibilidades son muy amplias. Hervidas, a la plancha, al horno,…

Pero también crudas. Si se elige esta última opción, el organismo podrá aprovechar todos sus nutrientes y vitaminas. CONSERVAR LOS ALIMENTOS Si las altas temperaturas son determinantes en los cambios de los hábitos de alimentación, también lo son a la hora de tomar medidas para conservar los alimentos. El calor es un enemigo que se convierte en la causa de numerosos problemas estomacales. Las frutas y verduras que se comen crudas se deben lavar con mucho esmero para evitar problemas típicos como la gastroenteritis. Por otra parte, se recomienda consumir los alimentos lo antes posible y mantenerlos en el frigorífico, nunca a temperatura ambiente.

Liquids It is necessary to continuously drink liquids in order to combat the heat , approximately two litres a day. In this instance, it is recommended to drink water

mainly, which can also be combined with other drinks such as fruit juices, that provide vitamins and minerals, but very few calories. Other options are sorbets or cold soups. Leichte Nahrung gegen die Hitze FMHOY - Fuerteventura Die Bedürfnisse des Organismus sind vom Klima abhängig. Wenn die Temperaturen steigen, sollte man leichte frische Speisen essen. Der Sommer rückt immer näher und mit den steigenden Temperaturen wird es notwendig, unsere Ernährung an die neuen Umstände und Bedürfnisse des Organismus anzupassen. Wenn es heiß ist, besteht die Gefahr der Dehydratation, deshalb sollte unsere Nahrung einen hohen Gehalt an Wasser und Fasern haben, damit der Körper immer ausreichend genährt und mit Feuchtigkeit versorgt wird wird. Auf diese Weise bleibt der Zustand unseres Körpers und der Haut, für die die Sonnenstrahlen schädlich sind, gut. Es ist Frühling und wir sollten die Eintöpfe durch leichtere Nahrung ersetzen. Der Körper braucht weniger Kalorien, als wenn es kalt ist, deshalb sind Gerichte wie Salate, kalte Suppen und Obst ideal. Wir brauchen erfrischendes und leichtes Essen, das zwar satt macht, aber trotzdem nicht schwer zu verdauen ist. Außerdem sind Obst und Gemüse sehr wichtig, weil sie viel Wasser, Vitamine, Fasern und andere Nährstoffe enthalten. FLÜSSIGKEITEN Um die Hitze zu bekämpfen, muss man ständig Flüssigkeiten aufnehmen, deshalb wird empfohlen, ungefähr zwei Liter pro Tag zu trinken. Am besten ist Wasser, aber man kann es mit anderen Getränken wie Fruchtsäften kombinieren, die wenige Kalorien haben und durch die unser Organismus Vitamine und Mineralstoffe bekommt. Eine weitere Möglichkeit bieten kalte Sorbets.

Von Industriegetränken wird jedoch abgeraten, da sie einen hohen Zuckergehalt haben und außerdem den Durst nicht stillen, sondern noch durstiger machen. OBST UND GEMÜSE DER SAISON Man sollte in der Küche Obst und Gemüse der Saison verwenden. Zucchini, Zwiebeln, Auberginen, Karotten, Paprika und Tomaten gehören zu den Gemüsesorten, die man in dieser Jahreszeit in den Gemüsegeschäften bekommt. Außerdem gibt es zahlreiche Obstsorten, wie Erdbeeren, Pflaumen, Pfirsiche, Melonen und Wassermelonen. Obst ist ein guter Nachtisch, aber auch ein ausgezeichneter Imbiss. Es macht satt, ist diuretisch und besteht zum großen Teil aus Wasser. Die typischen Sommerfrüchte sind ideal gegen Schweiß und äußere Hitze. Es gibt zahlreiche Möglichkeiten Gemüse zuzube-

reiten: Man kann es kochen, in der Pfanne braten und im Ofen backen,… und man kann es auch roh verzehren. Wenn Sie sich für die letztere Möglichkeit entscheiden, kann Ihr Organismus am besten von allen Nährstoffen und Vitaminen profitieren. NAHRUNGSMITTEL AUFBEWAHREN Wenn hohe Temperaturen der Anlass für die Veränderung der Ernährungsgewohnheiten sind, sollten wir außerdem darauf achten, dass wir die Lebensmittel richtig aufbewahren. Die Hitze ist ein Feind, der für zahlreiche Magenprobleme verantwortlich ist. Obst und Gemüse, das roh verzehrt wird, muss sehr gründlich gewaschen werden, um typische Probleme wie Gastroenteritis zu verhindern. Iniciación al 4x4 Extremo FMHOY - Fuerteventura El primer paso para iniciarse en este deporte consiste en disponer de un vehículo 4x4. Si su intención es participar en pequeños eventos con un nivel de preparación mínima, podrá hacerlo con cualquier vehículo 4x4, con el único requisito de contar con unos neumáticos adecuados. Si su intención es ir mejorando el vehículo progresivamente y participar en pruebas locales y nacionales, recomendamos adquirir un 4x4 que cuente con ejes rígidos delantero y trasero. El siguiente paso sería inscribirse en algún club que organice excursiones de práctica e iniciación. De esta forma se va adquiriendo habilidad y sirve de entrenamiento para acceder a niveles más exigentes en este deporte. NIVELES DE PREPARACION Existen cuatro niveles de preparación del vehículo: 1. Vehículos de serie 2. Vehículos de serie mejorado 3. Vehículos preparados 4. Prototipos Las tres primeras categorías suelen ser homologadas para circular por carretera. Los prototipos tienen que ser trasladados en remolque o camión grúa. En los vehículos de serie es aconsejable una preparación mínima, montando unos neumáticos adecuados. Los vehículos de serie mejorados incorporan en su preparación neumáticos adecuados y suspensiones más firmes, logrando una elevación del chasis de entre 3 y 6 centímetros respecto del suelo, con las consiguientes mejoras de los ángulos de ataque, ventral y de salida en las maniobras 4x4. Los vehículos preparados incorporan, desde la base de un vehículo de serie, los siguientes elementos: - Ssuspensiones mucho más firmes - Elevación del chasis entre 5 y 10 centímetros respecto del suelo - Neumáticos grandes y preparados para el 4x4 - Palieres, homocinéticas y grupos de ejes reforzados Aparte de esta preparación clásica, también hay pilotos que equipan a sus vehículos con sistemas de bloqueo de los diferenciales delantero y trasero. En cuanto a los prototipos, la principal característica es que se construyen utilizando piezas y elementos de diversos fabricantes, buscando la combinación adecuada para optimizar el rendimiento del vehículo en general, o bien un rendimiento adaptado a la competición en la que se va a participar. No son vehículos homologados para circular por carretera. Así, un prototipo suele incorporar: - Motores de mayor potencia que el original del vehículo base

- Ejes diferenciales con pórtico reforzado, o bien ejes especiales de competición - Cajas de cambios y transfers reforzados - Elementos de seguridad conforme a la normativa UE para competiciones: barras antivuelco, etc. Para recibir asesoramiento a la hora de realizar la preparación de los vehículos, y que la preparación resulte homologable, lo mejor es contactar con clubes que estén registrados. PARTICIPACION EN EVENTOS Y COMPETICIONES En el nivel más básico, en las Islas Canarias se celebran varios EVENTOS TRIAL al año, destinados a vehículos de serie mejorados. Consisten en pruebas sencillas, con el objeto de no dañar el vehículo. Dentro de las competiciones de mayor envergadura, se distinguen tres modalidades: 1. TRIAL 4X4: en ellas participan vehículos mejorados, vehículos preparados y prototipos en el mismo circuito

2. 4X4 EXTREMO: en ellas sólo se permite la participación de vehículos preparados y prototipos. En las pruebas se establecen dos categorías, atendiendo al tamaño de los neumáticos que montan los vehículos: hasta 95 cm de diámetro y superiores a 95 cm de diámetro. Se utilizan elementos de ayuda y seguridad a las maniobras de superación de obstáculos, tales como winchers, anclas, gatos, planchas, etc. 3. 4X4 EXTREMO COMBINADAS: en estas competiciones se combinan pruebas de trial, pruebas de 4x4 extremo y rutómetros. Estos últimos son pruebas de navegación por pista de tierra. Otro tipo de eventos fuera de las clasificaciones anteriores son las competiciones de NAVEGACION Y LOCALIZACION DE WAYPOINTS, que se organizan para todo tipo de vehículos, sin exclusiones por categorías. Esto se debe a que en estas competiciones lo importante es la habilidad del equipo para navegar y localizar el mayor número de waypoints (hitos, testigos o balizas de un punto de la ruta) en un tiempo limitado. Este último tipo de competiciones tienen amplia difusión en el continente africano.

Wenn Sie beabsichtigen, an nicht sehr bedeutenden Events teilzunehmen, wo man keine große Ausbildung braucht, können Sie dies mit jedem 4x4Wagen tun, die einzige Bedingung ist, dass das Auto die erforderlichen Reifen hat. Wenn Sie jedoch beabsichtigen, ihre Auto nach und nach zu verbessern und an örtlichen und nationalen Wettkämpfen teilzunehmen, empfehlen wir Ihnen, einen 4x4-Wagen zu erwerben der vorne und hinten über Starrachsen verfügt. Die modifizierten Serienmodelle verfügen über angemessene Reifen und festere Aufhängungen mit einer Anhebung des Chassis um 3 bis 6 Zentimeter über den Boden. Dadurch werden bei den 4x4-Manövern die Angriffswinkel von unten und von hinten verbessert. Die präparierten Fahrzeuge sind Serienmodelle, die unter anderem über folgende Funktionen verfügen: - wesentlich festere Federungen - Anhebung des Fahrgestells um 5 bis 10 Zentimeter über den Boden - große Reifen, die für 4x4-Wagen geeignet sind - verstärkte Achsschenkel, Gelenke und Achsgruppen Außer der klassischen Präparierung gibt es auch Piloten, die ihre Fahrzeuge mit einem Blockierungssystem für die vorderen und hinteren Differenziale ausstatten. Die Prototypen zeichnen sich vor allem dadurch aus, dass sie aus Teilen verschiedener Hersteller hergestellt werden, wobei durch eine richtige Kombination die Leistung des Fahrzeug optimiert werden oder an einen bestimmten Wettkampf angepasst werden soll, an dem das Auto teilnehmen wird. Diese Autos dürfen nicht auf Autostraßen fahren.

Ein Prototyp verfügt normalerweise über: - stärkere Motoren als das originale Basismodell - stärkere Achsen mit verstärktem Rahmen oder besondere Wettkampfachsen - verstärkten Schutz für Getriebe und Transfers - Sicherheitsausrüstung, die den EU-Vorschriften für Wettkämpfe entspricht: Überrollbügel usw.

Bei den Manövern, bei denen Hindernisse überwunden werden müssen, werden Hilfs- und Sicherheitsmittel wie Winchers, Anker, Buchsen, Platten usw. verwendet. 3. KOMBINIERTE 4X4-EXTREMSPORTWETTKÄMPFE: Bei diesen Wettkämpfen werden Trial-Prüfungen, 4x4 Extremsport-Prüfungen und Wettkämpfe auf Feldwegen kombiniert. Initiation to Extreme 4x4 FMHOY - Fuerteventura The first step to get initiated in this sport consists in having a 4x4 vehicle. If you intend in participating in small events with a minimum amount of preparation, you can do it with any type of 4x4, the only required element is adequate tyres. If you intend to improve the vehicle progressively and participate in local and national events, we recommend that you acquire a 4x4 that has rigid front and back axels. The next step is to register in any club that organises practise or initiation excursions. This way you can acquire experience and it can be your training to access higher levels in this sport. LEVELS OF PREPARATION There are four levels of preparation of the vehicle: 1. Standard vehicles 2. Improved standard vehicles 3. Prepared vehicles 4. Prototypes The first three categories tend to be homologated for road use. The prototypes have to be transported on trailers or crane trucks. For standard vehicles a minimum preparation is recommended by fitting adequate tyres. The improved standard vehicles have been fitted with adequate tyres and harder suspensions and can reach a chassis elevation of 3 to 6 centimetres depending on the ground, those will bring improvements of the attack, body and exit angles manoeuvres of the 4x4. The prepared vehicles have been fitted with the following elements during conception: - Much harder suspension - Chassis elevation between 5 and 10 centimetres depending on the ground. - Large tyres prepared for 4x4 vehicles - Reinforced suspension parts and axels Apart from this classical preparation, some pilots equip their vehicles with blocking systems of the front and back differentials. As for prototypes, the main characteristics is that they are built with parts and elements from various manufacturers, in the search for the adequate combination in order to optimise the vehicles performance in general, or a performance adapted to the competitions it will participate in.

Those are not homologated vehicles for road use. This is because in those types of challenges what matters is the ability of the team to pilot and find the largest amount of waypoints (markers on some points along the route) over a timed period. This type of challenge is quite popular on the African continent.

FMHOY - Fuerteventura El motocross o MX es posiblemente una de las variantes más espectaculares del motociclismo deportivo. Una prueba de destreza, reflejos y velocidad sobre un circuito off-road lleno de obstáculos y saltos que, en caso de celebrarse en un estadio, adquiere la denominación de Supercross o SX. Muchos jóvenes pilotos inician su andadura sobre dos ruedas en esta disciplina. El Campeonato de Canarias de MX dispone de categorías de iniciación en la que con una moto pequeña, ilusión y un buen equipamiento de seguridad (casco, botas, guantes y unas protecciones adecuadas) niños de menos de diez años se van formando poco a

poco. Kawasaki dispone de un escalonado perfecto en su gama para motocross, partiendo por la KX 65 y siguiendo por la KX 85 hasta llegar a la reina, la KX 450 tras pasar por las 125 y 250 cc. Motos Futura, concesionario oficial Kawasaki situado en la calle Palmera Canaria 48-50 de Puerto del Rosario, ha apoyado activamente desde su fundación el deporte del motocross, una disciplina a la que sigue vinculada todavía hoy. Los primeros movimientos de tierra con maquinaria pesada, se iniciaron en mayo, ejecutándose la obra en los próximos seis meses, lo que permitirá disfrutar del primer Centro Municipal de la Juventud en Antigua a finales de este mismo año.

El Centro dispondrá de una superficie de 144,65 metros cuadrados distribuidos en una sala polivalente, una sala de lectura, oficina de administración, sala de reunión, y dos aseos. Una ancha pasarela adoquinada permitirá el acceso desde la Carretera del Valle a la terraza delantera, que hará las funciones de entrada principal. La finalidad de construir un Centro Municipal de la Juventud, el primero en el municipio, es apoyar a la juventud que desde hace años demanda tener un local de encuentro donde desarrollar actividades, talleres, y servir como lugar de reunión que propicie la creación y consolidación de asociaciones y colectivos juveniles en el municipio, así como fomentar el asociacionismo entre los jóvenes. Desde la concejalía de Juventud, se vienen manteniendo encuentros con los jóvenes, y asociaciones juveniles, para que sean sus propuestas las que marquen la línea de trabajo.

Work starts on Antigua’s Youth Centre

The digging part of the building work started with heavy machinery in May and completion is expected within six months which means that the first Municipal Youth Centre in Antigua will be operative by the end of this year. The Centre will consist of 144,65 square metres distributed between a multipurpose room, offices, a meeting room and two toilets. A wide paved gangway will provide access from Carretera del Valle to the front terrace which will be used as main entrance. The objective of the creation of a Municipal Youth Centre, the first in the municipality, is to give support to young people who have been asking for premises where they can develop activities, workshops and organise meeting for the creation of associations in the municipality as well as promoting associations

Im Mai begannen die Arbeiten mit schweren Maschinen. Die Bauarbeiten werden sechs Monate dauern, so dass Antigua am Ende des Jahres über ein Jugendzentrum verfügen wird. Das Zentrum wird eine Fläche von 144,65 Quadratmetern haben, die folgendermaßen unterteilt wird: es wird einen Mehrzwecksaal, einen Leseraum, ein Büro für die Verwaltung und zwei Bäder geben. Man gelangt über einen breiten gepflasterten Weg von der Carretera del Valle zu der vorderen Terrasse, welche als Haupteingang genutzt wird. Mit dem Bau des ersten Jugendzentrums der Gemeinde wird beabsichtigt, die Jugendlichen zu unterstützen, die vor 2 Jahren ein Zentrum beantragt haben, wo sie Aktivitäten durchführen und Kurse organisieren können und das gleichzeitig als Treffpunkt dient, wo Vereine und Gruppen von Jugendlichen gegründet werden und sich treffen können. Außerdem soll dadurch das Vereinswesen unter den Jugendlichen gefördert werden. Das Amt für Jugend trifft sich regelmäßig mit den Jugendlichen, damit deren Vorschläge bei der Ausführung des Projektes maßgebend sind.

Taller de Orientación Socio Laboral para mujeres inmigrantes

Dentro del Programa de actividades relacionadas con la mujer que el Ayuntamiento de Antigua viene desarrollando desde marzo, la Concejalía de Servicios Sociales organizó el Taller de Orientación Socio Laboral para Mujeres Inmigrantes, cuyo objetivo era dotar de los recursos, asesoramiento y orientación necesaria a estas mujeres para abrirse camino en los distintos ámbitos de la sociedad y en el mercado laboral. Con este fin, el Ayuntamiento puso en marcha un Taller Socio Laboral de Mujeres Inmigrantes que constó de cuatro sesiones formativas y de asesoramiento, celebradas los lunes y miércoles en el Centro de Mayores de Antigua. Los tutoriales fueron impartidos por una profesional del Departamento de Servicios Sociales que aporta técnicas de búsqueda de empleo, ayuda a redactar una carta de presentación, elaborar un currículo vitae, o encarar una entrevista personal aplicando técnicas escénicas de situaciones a las que estas mujeres podrían enfrentarse el día de mañana. Durante el Taller también se les facilitó información de las opciones laborales que disponen en el municipio de Antigua u otros de la Isla, así como de los organismos en los que pueden apuntarse a bolsas de empleo o cursos de formación, y una introducción básica de cómo buscar esta información empleando internet. El Taller dirigido expresamente a mujeres inmigrantes pretendió apoyar un sector social, cuyo perfil se caracteriza por la dificultad de introducirse en el mercado laboral ante una baja formación, y presentar fuertes ataduras familiares que por cultura o tradición dificultan su inserción laboral y social.

Social and Labour Orientation Workshop for immigrant women

Within the activities Programme related to women

that the Ayuntamiento of Antigua has been developing since March, the Social Services Council organised a Social and Labour Orientation Workshop for Immigrant Women whose objective is to bring the required resources, advice and orientation to those women to help them on their way to society and the work market. To that effect, the Ayuntamiento created a Social and Labour Workshop for Immigrant Women that consists of four training sessions and advice on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Elders’ Centre of Antigua. The lessons were given by a professional from the Social Services’ Department who explained techniques of job search, help to write a presentation letter, elaboration of a CV, or how to face a personal interview by applying techniques according to different situations those women can be faced with later. During those sessions at the workshop, information was handed out on the job opportunities of Antigua’s municipality or other municipalities on the island, as well as details on the organisations where one can register as job seeker or to request training courses and an introduction on how to find that information on the internet. The Workshop aimed exclusively at Immigrant Women intends to bring support to a social sector, that is characterised by a difficulty of entering the job market because of low education levels and because of cultural or traditional family ties that hinder their introduction to society and a working life.

Orientierungskurs für Immigrantinnen

Das Amt für Soziales organisierte im Rahmen des Frauenprogramms, das die Gemeinde seit März veranstaltet, einen Kurs zur sozialen und beruflichen Orientierung für Immigrantinnen, durch den die Frauen die notwendigen Mittel, Beratung und Orientierung erhalten sollten, um ihren Platz in den verschiedenen Bereichen der Gesellschaft und auf dem Arbeitsmarkt zu finden. Zu diesem Zweck entwarf die Gemeinde einen sozialen und beruflichen Orientierungskurs für Immigrantinnen, der aus vier Unterrichtseinheiten besteht, wo die Immigrantinnen informiert und beraten werden. Diese Kurse finden montags und mittwochs im Seniorenzentrum von Antigua statt. Das Lernprogramm wurde von einer Expertin des Departements für Soziales unterrichtet, es geht um Techniken bei der Arbeitssuche, Hilfe beim Verfassen eines Vorstellungsbriefes, wie man einen Lebenslauf erstellt oder mit szenischen Techniken ein persönliches Vorstellungsgespräch mit Situationen vorbereitet, denen sich diese Frauen in Zukunft stellen müssen. Während des Kurses wurden die Immigrantinnen über ihre Möglichkeiten auf dem Arbeitsmarkt der Gemeinde Antigua und anderen Gemeinden der Insel informiert und erfahren, wie sie sich bei Stellenbörsen und Ausbildungskursen anmelden können. Sie wurden auch darüber informiert, wie sie Arbeit im Internet suchen können. Mit diesem Kurs, der ausdrücklich auf Immigrantinnen zugeschnitten wurde, wurde auch beabsichtigt, diese soziale Gruppe zu unterstützen, die Schwierigkeiten hat, sich auf dem Arbeitsmarkt zurecht zu finden, da sie über keine gute Ausbildung verfügt und stark von der eigenen Familie eingeschränkt wird, deren Tradition und Kultur ihre Eingliederung in den Arbeitsmarkt erschweren.

Romería de Toto

El pueblo de Toto, en el municipio majorero de Pájara, celebró, después de más de quince años sin hacerlo, su tradicional romería, en honor a San Antonio de Padua. La comitiva romera partió desde el Caserío de Tetui, para discurrir por el barranco para luego recalar en la plaza del pueblo, adjunta a la Iglesia, donde se realizó una ofrenda de los frutos de la tierra al santo. Más tarde, le tocó el turno al tradicional tenderete canario, acompañado por buena parte de las rondallas de la isla de Fuerteventura. A medianoche, Toto se encendió con las hogueras en honor a San Antonio de Padua, y tras la quema de fuegos de artificio se dio paso a una verbena de amanecida con el Grupo Bomba y Güira Latina. A las seis de la mañana del domingo sonaron en Toto los tambores y la percusión de la batucada Crazy Drummers. Por la tarde, solemne función religiosa, seguida de procesión de la imagen del santo por las calles del pueblo; y más tarde, encuentro folclórico. A las 22.00 horas del domingo, Toto acogió la actuación del afamado Grupo Trío Chapas.

Procession in Toto

The village of Toto, in the municipality of Pájara, celebrated, after a fifteen year break, its traditional procession in honour of San Antonio de Padua. The procession started in the hamlet of Tetui and carried on along the barrancos until the village’s square by the church, where offerings were left for the saint. Later, it was the turn of the traditional Canarian stall procession that was accompanied by most of the island’s choirs. At midnight in Toto, bonfires were lighted up in honour of San Antonio de Padua, and after the bonfires and fireworks it was then the turn of the day breaking dances animated by Grupo Bomba y Güira Latina. At six in the morning on Sunday the drums and percussions of the Crazy Drummers group were pounding in Toto. In the afternoon, a religious mass took place and was followed by a procession of the saint’s image in the village streets, the day then ended with folkloric animations. At 10 p.m. on Sunday, Toto then hosted an animation from the well known Grupo Trío Chapas.

Das Dorf Toto, das zu der Gemeinde von Pájara Fuerteventura gehört, feierte zum ersten Mal seit mehr als fünfzehn Jahren die traditionelle Wallfahrt zu Ehren des heiligen Antonius von Padua. Die Wallfahrt begann im Caserío de Tetui und zog dann durch das ganze Dorf bis zum Hauptplatz neben der Kirche, wo dem Heiligen einheimische Früchte geopfert wurden. Danach kam ein typischer kanarischer Tenderete, der von einem großen Teil der Rondallas (Musikgruppen) der Insel Fuerteventura begleitet wurde. Um Mitternacht wurden in Toto die Lagerfeuer zu Ehren des heiligen Antonius von Padua angezündet. Nach einem Feuerwerk gab es eine Tanzveranstaltung mit den Gruppen Bomba und Güira Latina. In Toto hörte man um sechs Uhr morgens die Trom-

meln und Schlaginstrumente der Crazy Drummers. Am darauffolgenden Nachmittag fand eine feierliche Messe statt. Danach wurde die Heiligenstatue in einer Prozession durch die Straßen des Ortes getragen, und anschließend gab es eine Folklore-Vorführung. Am Sonntag um 22.00 Uhr fand in Toto ein Konzert der berühmten Gruppe Trío Chapas statt.

El Ayuntamiento mejora las instalaciones del Centro de Mayores

El Ayuntamiento procede a mejorar las instalaciones del Centro de Mayores de Pájara casco, y a soterrar parte del cableado de Telefónica en la zona del Morro del Calvario. En el Centro de Mayores de Pájara casco, sito en la Plaza de la Constitución, se ha procedido a retirar una vieja techumbre de fibra para instalar una más segura y moderna, y que propicie no sólo una mayor iluminación, sino también una mejor ventilación del inmueble, al dotarlo de seis nuevas ventanas. En cuanto a la actuación que se realiza en el Morro del Calvario, también en Pájara casco, se busca minimizar el impacto visual que produce el cableado, a través del entubado subterráneo de los mismos. Este tipo de intervenciones se ejecuta con personal, maquinaria y materiales del Ayuntamiento, en un esfuerzo por contener el gasto, rentabilizar las existencias y trabajar con criterio.

The Ayuntamiento improves the Elder’s Centre

The Ayuntamiento is carrying out refurbishments in the Elder’s Centre in Pájara and the burying of telephone cables in the area of Morro del Calvario. In Pájara’s Elder’s Centre, situated on Plaza de la Constitución, the old fibre roof structure has been replaced by a more stable and modern one which will allow more light in and a better ventilation of the building thanks to six new windows. As for the work carried out in Morro del Calvario in Pájara, it aims at minimising the visual impact of cables by burying them. Those interventions are being carried out by the Ayuntamiento’s staff in order to reduce costs, get a return on the equipment.

Die Gemeinde verbessert die Installationen des Seniorenzentrums der Innenstadt von Pájara und gräbt einen Teil der Telefonleitungen von Telefónica in der Gegend von Morro del Calvario ein. Im Seniorenzentrum der Innenstadt von Pájara, das seinen Standort an der Plaza de la Constitución hat, wurde ein altes Dach aus Fasern durch ein neueres und sichereres ersetzt. Außerdem wurden sechs neue Fenster eingebaut, so dass das Gebäude nicht nur besser beleuchtet sondern auch besser gelüftet werden kann. Bei den Arbeiten in Morro del Calvario, auch in Pájara, bemüht man sich, die visuellen Beeinträchtigungen, die von den Leitungen ausgehen, zu reduzieren,

in dem die letzteren eingegraben werden. Diese Arbeiten werden von Angestellten der Gemeinde durchgeführt, welche auch die Maschinen und das Material zur Verfügung stellt, um die Ausgaben niedrig zu halten, den Bestand zu nutzen und nach Kriterien zu arbeiten.

Pájara celebró los días mundiales del Medio Ambiente y los Océanos

Numerosos actos acogió el municipio para celebrar los días mundiales del Medio Ambiente y los Océanos. La mayoría de la actividad estuvo especialmente destinada a los escolares de la localidad, que disfrutaron de talleres, excursiones, charlas, exposiciones y hasta de la recreación de cómo debemos actuar para salvar a un delfín que ha quedado varado en la playa.

Más de medio centenar de alumnos y alumnas de primero de Primaria, de entre 6 y 8 años de edad, recibieron clases sobre la vida de los cetáceos y cachalotes; iniciativa que se ofreció en el Saladar de Jandía, frente al esqueleto del cachalote allí expuesto. La conservación de los océanos, los espacios naturales y la fragilidad del medio ambiente fueron otros asuntos tratados ante los escolares por los técnicos del departamento de Medio Ambiente del Ayuntamiento. La confección de un mural temático sobre el medio ambiente y los océanos fue otra de las propuestas de la concejalía de Medio Ambiente para nuestros escolares, así mismo los talleres de reciclaje, sobre la vida de las tortugas y sobre los delfines gozaron de una grata acogida entre los niños y niñas de la localidad.

Pájara celebrates the World Environment and Oceans Days

Many events were organised in the municipality for the celebration of the World Environment and Oceans Days. Most activities were directly aimed at the areas schoolchildren who enjoyed workshops, chats, exhibitions and demonstrations on how to act in order to save a beached dolphin. Over fifty schoolchildren from 1st year of Primaria, aged between 6 and 8 years old, attended a class on the life of cetaceans and sperm whales; this initiative took place at Jandía’s salt marsh in from of the sperm whale skeleton that is exhibited there. Preservation of oceans and natural spaces and the fragility of the environment were some of the subjects that were presented to schoolchildren by technicians from the Ayuntamiento’s Environment Department. The creation of a mural about the environment and the oceans was another activity proposed to schoolchildren by the Environment Council. Workshops on recycling, life of turtles and dolphins got the enthusiasm from schoolchildren.

Pájara veranstaltete die Welttage für Umwelt und Ozeane

Die Mehrzahl der Aktivitäten waren für die Schüler des Ortes bestimmt, welche an Kursen, Ausflügen teilnahmen und Ausstellungen besuchten. Sie lernten sogar wie man einen gestrandeten Delphin rettet. Mehr als fünfzig 6- bis 8-jährige Grundschüler bekamen Unterricht über das Leben der Wale und Pottwale. Diese Initiative fand im Saladar von Jandía vor dem dort ausgestellten Skelett eines Pottwals statt. Zu den weiteren Themen, über die die Schüler von Technikern des Departements für Umwelt der Gemeinde unterrichtet wurden, gehörten der Erhalt der Ozeane und der Natur sowie die Verletzbarkeit der Umwelt. Zu dem Angebot für unsere Schüler, das bei den Jungen und Mädchen des Ortes sehr gut ankam, gehörten außerdem ein Wandbild zum Thema Umwelt und Ozeane sowie Kurse über Recycling, Schildkröten und Delphine.

Kurse für die Vorbeugung von Haushaltsunfällen in Pájara, La Lajita, Costa Calma und Morro Jable

Die Gemeinde bot zwischen dem 10. und dem 16. Juni in mehreren Orten der Gegend verschiedene Kurse zur Vorbeugung von Haushaltsunfällen an. Diese Initiative begann am 10. Juni im Kulturzentrum der Innenstadt von Pájara. Die Lehrerinnen waren Lucía Quinteiro Roa und Rosa Delia Navarro Alonso, zwei Expertinnen der Krankenpflege, die im kanarischen Gesundheitsdienst, welcher an dem Projekt beteiligt ist, arbeiten. Am 14. Juni fand der Kurs zur Vorbeugung von Haushaltsunfällen in der Schule von Costa Calma statt, da wir viel Zeit zuhause verbringen und daher gegen Risiken vorbeugen müssen. Im Seniorenzentrum in La Lajita fand der Kurs am Dienstag den 15. Juni statt, im Jugendzentrum von Morro Jable dagegen am 16. Juni.

NUEVA CITA CON EL MERCADO ARTESANAL DE TETIR

El Ayuntamiento ofreció, del 10 al 16 de junio varios talleres de prevención de accidentes domésticos en varios enclaves de la localidad. El jueves 10 de junio, en el Centro Cultural de Pájara casco dio comienzo esta iniciativa, que fue impartida por Lucía Quinteiro Roa y Rosa Delia Navarro Alonso, profesionales de la enfermería que trabajan para el Servicio Canario de Salud, entidad que colabora en esta propuesta. El lunes, 14 de junio, el taller de Prevención de Accidentes domésticos se impartió en el Colegio de Costa Calma con la premisa de que en el hogar es donde pasamos muchas de las horas de nuestra vida, por lo que hay que prevenir para evitar riesgos. El taller llegó al Centro de Mayores de La Lajita el martes15 de junio, mientras que en la Casa de la Juventud de Morro Jable lo hizo el miércoles 16 de junio.

The Ayuntamiento organised between 10th and 16th June various Workshops on domestic accident prevention in various sites in the area. On Thursday 10th June, in Pájara’s Cultural Centre, this initiative was animated by Lucía Quinteiro Roa and Rosa Delia Navarro Alonso, nurses for the Canarian Health Services, the entity that is collaborating in this initiative. El Mercado Artesanal de Tetir, bajo su nueva forma de convocatoria trimestral, retomó su actividad el pasado domingo 13 de junio bajo la organización de la Concejalía de Turismo del Ayuntamiento de Puerto del Rosario y la colaboración del Cabildo majorero, la Agrupación Folclórica de Tetir y los artesanos participantes en la actividad. Durante toda la mañana hubo además ambientación musical, paseos en camello, animación infantil, degustación de productos artesanos, etc. Las próximas citas con el Mercado Artesanal de Tetir serán el 12 de septiembre y 12 de diciembre.

The return of Tetir’s handcraft market

Tetir’s Handcraft Market returned on Sunday 13th June under its new format for this trimester and was organised by the Tourism Council of Puerto del Rosario’s Ayuntamiento and the collaboration of the island’s Cabildo, Tetir’s Folkloric Association and the handcraft makers participating. The whole morning was animated with music, camel rides, children’s entertainment, local products

tastings, etc. The future dates for Tetir’s Handcraft Market are 12th September and 12th December.

NEUER TERMIN AM KUNSTWERKERMARKT IN TETIR

Am 13 Juni gab es in Tetir wieder den Kunstwerkermarkt, der nun alle drei Monate stattfindet. Dieser Markt wird vom Amt für Kultur der Gemeinde von Puerto del Rosario unter Mitarbeit des Cabildo von Fuerteventura, der Floklore-Gruppe von Tetir und den beteiligten Kunsthandwerkern organisiert. Den ganzen Vormittag gab es außerdem Musik, Kamelreiten, Animation für Kinder, man konnte manuell hergestellte Lebensmittel probieren usw. Die nächsten Termine für den Kunsthandwerksmarkt in Tetir sind der 12. September und der 12. Dezember.

SE CLAUSURA LA V EDICIÓN DEL PROGRAMA DE SENDERISMO “ALLANANDO EL CAMINO”

El pasado mes de junio, en los salones del Albergue de Tefía, se clausuraba la quinta edición del Programa de senderismo para mayores “Allanando el camino”. Unas 140 personas mayores participaron en las distintas salidas de campo en esta edición que en su mayoría estuvieron presentes en el acto de clausura, donde se proyectó un DVD resumen con las mejores instantáneas y experiencias vividas durante las rutas celebradas. La jornada culminó con un baile y almuerzo en las propias instalaciones del Albergue de Tefía. Según el equipo del Centro Municipal de Servicios Sociales, organizador y dinamizador de la iniciativa, las expectativas más optimistas volvieron a superarse en esta edición, manteniendo la participación del año anterior. La incorporación de las visitas culturales, los nuevos itinerarios adaptados y sobre todo los beneficios que ha reportado a los participantes las salidas al campo en compañía de sus semejantes, han disparado el interés por la iniciativa, según confirman el equipo profesional encargado del proyecto. Para llevar a cabo este proyecto se ha contado con la colaboración de las Consejerías de Medioambiente e Infraestructuras, de la Red de Museos y de Juventud del Cabildo de Fuerteventura, además del voluntariado de Cruz Roja que ha prestado un servicio preventivo en todas las salidas de campo.

END OF THE FIFTH EDITION OF THE HIKING PROGRAMME CALLED “ALLANANDO EL CAMINO”

The end of the fifth Edition of the hiking programme for the elderly called “Allanando el camino” was celebrated in June in the Albergue de Tefía. Around 140 elderly people who participated in various walks in the countryside during this edition were present at the closing event where a DVD relating the best views and experiences of those hikes was shown. The event was closed with a dance and lunch in the Albergue de Tefía. According to the Social Services’ Municipal Centre’s team who organised and promoted this initiative, the most optimistic expectations were surpassed during this edition and participants were as numerous as last year. The incorporation of cultural visits, new adequate itineraries and the benefits reported by the participants during those hikes in the countryside have boosted the interest for this initiative.

ABSCHLUSS DES V. WANDERPROGRAMMS “ALLANANDO EL CAMINO”

Die Abschlussveranstaltung des fünften Wanderprogramms für Senioren “Allanando el camino” fand im Juni in den Räumlichkeiten des Albergue (Herberge) von Tefía statt. Dieses Mal haben ungefähr 140 Senioren an verschiedenen Ausflügen teilgenommen, von denen die Mehrzahl zu der Abschlussveranstaltung kam. Bei dieser Veranstaltung wurde eine DVD mit den besten Schnappschüssen und Aufnahmen der Erfahrungen, die die Teilnehmer während der Wanderungen machten, vorgeführt. Die Veranstaltung endete mit Tanz und einem Mittagessen im Albergue von Tefía. Nach Angaben der Mitarbeiter des Gemeindezentrums für Soziales, welches diese Initiative organisiert und dynamisiert hat, wurden auch dieses Mal wunderbare Erfahrungen gemacht, und es gab genauso viele Teilnehmer wie letztes Jahr. Es kamen kulturelle Ausflüge und die neuen angepassten Wege dazu, für die Teilnehmer sind jedoch nach Angaben der Fachleute, die für dieses Projekt zuständig sind, die Ausflüge aufs Land in Gesellschaft das wichtigste. Dieses Projekt wurde von den Ämtern für Umwelt und Infrastrukturen, dem Museumsnetz und dem Amt für Jugend des Cabildo de Fuerteventura organisiert. Außerdem hat das rote Kreuz bei allen Ausflügen Vorbeugungsmaßnahmen getroffen.

ACTIVADO EL SERVICIO DE VIGILANCIA DE PLAYAS

En cuando a recursos técnicos cabe destacar la disposición de una moto acuática, 1 vehículo 4x4 de coordinación entre otros. El servicio de vigilancia de Playas cuenta también con 3 sillas de vigilancia, 1 puestos de primeros auxilios, los soportes de señalética del estado del mar y demás complementos que integran una prestación profesional. Este servicio de Vigilancia de playas será presentado oficialmente con todos sus efectivos y medios a principios de julio próximo, aprovechando el izado de la Bandera Azul en la Playa por segundo año consecutivo.

BEACH SECURITY PATROL NOW IN OPERATION

The Council for beaches of Puerto del Rosario’s Ayuntamiento has announced that from the early morning of 15th June the Beach Security Patrol started operating in Playa Blanca. This service is being provided by a recognised and trusted entity: VALORA SOCORRISMO, an institution that benefited from the Ayuntamiento’s trust. Marcial Morales, mayor of the capital declared that “another effort has been made by providing a service with guarantees on the beach that will be extended until 15th October between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday to Sunday. And within the series of improvements carried out every year on the beach of Playa Blanca, we have an urban beach with environmental qualities, sanitary services, seasonal services and safety for users of all ages”. As for human resources, the service will consist of one coordinator and 3 qualified security agents working in turns; technical services will include a jet-ski, a 4x4 vehicle, to name a few. The beach security patrol also has three security chairs, one first aid point, signalling material for sea conditions and other complements that are required for this professional service. This beach security patrol will officially be presented with all its staff and equipment at the beginning of July at the occasion of the hoist of the Blue Flag on the Beach for the second year running.

DER DIENST FÜR DIE BEWACHUNG DER STRÄNDE BEGANN SEINE ARBEIT

La Concejalía de Playas del Ayuntamiento de Puerto del Rosario, comunicaba que el 15 de junio, desde primeras horas de la mañana, se activó el Servicio de Vigilancia en Playa Blanca. El servicio será prestado por una entidad de reconocidas garantías como es VALORA SOCORRISMO, institución que finalmente resultó acreedora de la confianza del ayuntamiento. Marcial Morales, alcalde de la capital informaba que “se ha hecho un nuevo esfuerzo en dotar a la playa de un servicio con garantías que se prorrogará hasta el 15 de octubre en horario de 11:00 a 19:00h, de lunes a domingo, y en el marco de una serie de mejoras en la playa que realizamos cada año en Playa Blanca, una playa urbana con calidad ambiental, con servicios sanitarios, con servicios de temporada y segura para los usuarios de todas las edades”. El servicio constará en cuanto a medios humanos, de 1 coordinador y 3 socorristas titulados por turno.

Der Bürgermeister der Hauptstadt, Marcial Morales, erklärte, „wir haben dafür gearbeitet, die Strände mit einem neuen Dienst auszustatten, der bis zum 15. Oktober von montags bis sonntags von 11:00 bis 19:00 Uhr besetzt ist. Dies geschieht im Rahmen mehrerer Verbesserungsarbeiten der Strände, die wir Jahr für Jahr in Playa Blanca durchführen. Es ist ein Stadtstrand in einer hervorragenden Umgebung], mit sanitären Einrichtungen und saisonbedingten Leistungen. Dieser Strand ist sicher für Nutzer jeden Alters. Die Küstenwache besteht aus einem Koordinator und 3 ausgebildeten Rettungsschwimmern. Diese verfügen unter anderem über ein Wassermotorrad und einen 1 4x4-Wagen.

Die Küstenwache verfügt außerdem über 3 Wachtürme, eine Stelle für erste Hilfe, Hinweisschilder zur Anzeige des Zustandes des Meeres und weitere Mittel, die zu dieser professionellen Leistung gehören. Diese Küstenwache wird mit all ihren leitenden Angestellten Anfang Juli vor Ort sein, wenn die blaue Fahne zum zweiten Mal gehisst wird.

Corralejo acoge la exposición itinerante La isla mirada, Un territorio a tu alcance

Corralejo acogió la exposición itinerante denominada ‘La isla mirada. Un territorio a tu alcance’, que se despliega desde la conocida Placita o Plaza de Félix Estévez del casco viejo hasta la Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen, con la intención de relacionar iniciativas culturales en espacios directamente vinculados con el turismo. El recorrido fotográfico por enclaves mágicos de Fuerteventura estuvo instalado a lo largo de 20 paneles dobles en los que se pudieron admirar 38 imágenes de Carlos de Saa, autor de la base de imágenes de la Isla como Reserva de la Biosfera. La idea era poner en valor un territorio que además de ser admirado ha sido soñado y extrañado por grandes autores literarios como Miguel de Unamuno o Domingo Velásquez. Precisamente, a raíz de ser declarada la Isla majorera Reserva de la Biosfera por parte de la Unesco, la distinción ha hecho reflexionar y profundizar a las instituciones en el conocimiento de un territorio que por árido, extenso e inhabitado no deja de mostrar su carga de belleza. Esta muestra itinerante llega a Corralejo después de pasar por caleta de Fuste, Gran Tarajal, La vega, Morro Jable y Puerto del Rosario.

Precisely, since the Majorero Island was declared Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, institutions have thought deeply about the knowledge of this territory which despite being arid, extensive and uninhabited, has kept on showing its bountiful beauty. This mobile exhibition reaches Corralejo after having visited Caleta de Fuste, Gran Tarajal, La Vega, Morro Jable and Puerto del Rosario.

Die Wanderausstellung ‘La isla mirada. Un territorio a tu alcance’ (Ein Blick auf die Insel – ein Territorium in deiner Reichweite) kam nach Corralejo, und zwar auf dem bekannten Platz Plaza de Félix Estévez in der Innenstadt, und ging bis zur Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Damit wurde beabsichtigt, kulturelle Initiativen direkt mit touristischen Gegenden in Verbindung zu bringen. 20 doppelte Tafeln gehörten zu dem Foto-Rundgang durch die magischen Enklaven von Fuerteventura, wo 38 Bilder des Fotographen Carlos de Saa ausgestellt wurden, dem Autor der Bilder-Datenbank für die Erklärung der Insel zum Biosphärenreservat. About twenty surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing schools were competing over the exploitation of those sports’ sectors on the municipality’s beaches at the occasion of the registration meeting (Mesa de Contratación) which was held in La Oliva’s Ayuntamiento’s Congress Centre. The yearly tax payable by water sports’ schools that wish to have an activity on the coastal area represents 3.000 Euros. In the case of Flag Beach, this tax was tripled since the English owner of this school has opted to develop all three activities: surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing.

Una veintena de escuelas de surf, windsurf y kitesurf se disputaron la explotación de los sectores deportivos en las playas del municipio en el marco de la Mesa de Contratación convocada al efecto en el Salón de Actos del Ayuntamiento de La Oliva. La tasa anual a satisfacer por parte de las escuelas de deportes acuáticos que pretendan impartir una actividad en la zona costera asciende a 3.000 Euros. En el caso de la escuela Flag Beach, este canon se ha visto triplicado al optar dicha escuela cuyo propietario es inglés a desarrollar tres actividades deportivas: surf, windsurf y kitesurf.

¡Ni siquiera un coche todo terreno tiene acceso a algunas de estas rutas! FMHOY - Fuerteventura Hemos realizado un viaje en quad de la empresa de excursiones XQuad Fuerteventura y vamos a contarles cómo lo hemos vivido. Lo primero que nos ha sorprendido es la sencillez de su manejo, freno, acelerador, y volante, es una agradable sensación ir tan cerca del suelo y sentir el aire como te refresca. Teníamos temor de que el circuito de cuatro horas que elegimos se nos hiciese interminable, (los había más cortos y más largos) y sin embargo ha sido tan interesante que el tiempo ha pasado volando. Fascinados por la visión de tan sorprendentes paisajes, haciendo pequeñas paradas para fotografiar esos lugares únicos a los que no se puede llegar si no es con esta excursión. Ni siquiera un coche todo terreno tiene acceso a algunas de estas rutas. Los grupos nunca sobrepasan los siete coches, dirigidos por el guía que nos marca el camino, lo que nos ha permitido solicitar alguna parada puntual (además de las que entran en le programa), ante algunos paisajes espectaculares. Hemos parado en la orilla de los volcanes, ¡nueve

cráteres!, descubrimos un paisaje impresionante que nos trasladó al paisaje de Arizona en los famosos westerns y después continuamos por los campos de malpaís; continuamos hacia Lajares para seguir por el desierto del Jable, subiendo y bajando por el barranco del mismo nombre para continuar hacia El Cotillo. Aquí hemos realizado una parada para refrescarnos, servicio etc., y disfrutar del paisaje de las lagunas del faro. Continuamos por toda la costa norte con sus preciosas playitas hasta llegar a Majanicho, y las playas de piedra y arena negra. Desde allí regresamos a Corralejo. Al bajar estábamos tan entusiasmados con los distintos paisajes descubiertos, que nos fuimos directamente a conseguir más información sobre otras rutas. Existen distintos trayectos para las muchas personas que, desean repetir excursiones, y hemos descubierto que son muchas las personas que, de forma habitual año tras año, regresan o incluso en unas mismas vacaciones en rutas diferentes o a la misma. Pagando un poquito más, podemos personalizar la excursión, saliendo en un circuito con un guía para nosotros solos, pudiendo parar donde deseemos. Los quads se pueden adaptar para personas con discapacidades físicas y, si el grupo es impar o con niños, o no quiere conducir, disponen de chofer para el recorrido. En resumen, les aconsejamos que no se pierdan esta experiencia.

Nicht einmal ein Geländewagen kann auf all diesen Strecken fahren! Wir haben eine Reise mit dem Ausflugsunternehmen XQuad Fuerteventura gemacht und werden ihnen nun von unseren Erlebnissen erzählen. Zuerst einmal waren wir darüber überrascht, wie einfach es ist, dieses Fahrzeug mit Bremse, Gaspedal und Steuerrad zu bedienen. Es ist ein angenehmes Gefühl so nah am Boden zu fahren und die frische Luft zu spüren. Wir befürchteten, dass uns die vierstündige Fahrt – für die wir uns entschiedenen haben – unendlich vorkommen würde (es gab auch kürzere und längere Strecken), aber stattdessen war die Fahrt so interessant, dass sie uns sehr kurz vorkam. Wir waren von den überraschenden Landschaften fasziniert, machten kurze Pausen um diese einzigartige Orte zu fotografieren, an die man nur kommt, wenn man diesen Ausflug macht. Nicht einmal ein Geländewagen kann auf all diesen Strecken fahren. Die Gruppen bestehen aus höchstens sieben Autos, und es gibt einen Führer, der den Weg angibt. Daher konnten wir zusätzlich zu den offiziellen Pausen des Programms an einigen spektakulären Orten halten. Wir haben am Rand der Vulkane, es waren neun Krater, gehalten und eine beeindruckende Landschaft entdeckt, wo wir uns ins Arizona der berühmten Western versetzt fühlten, und dann fuhren wir weiter durch die Vulkanlandschaft in Richtung Lajares, um dann durch die Wüste des Jable weiterzufahren. Wir fuhren den gleichnamigen Barranco rauf und runter und fuhren dann weiter nach El Cotillo. Hier machten wir eine Pause, um uns zu erfrischen und die Landschaft von Lagunas del Faro zu genießen. Dann fuhren wir an der Nordküste entlang, an der es wunderschöne kleine Strände gibt, bis wir nach

Even a 4x4 can’t access some of those tracks! We went on a quad trip with the excursions’ team of XQuad Fuerteventura and we will now share our experience with you. First we were surprised how easy those are to handle: brakes, accelerator and handle bars. It is also nice to be that close to the ground and feel the fresh air on your face. We were concerned that the four hour circuit we chose would seem endless (there were shorter and longer ones), however it was so interesting that time flew by. We were fascinated by the numerous surprising landscapes and made short stops to take a few photos of those unique sites which we could have never got access to if it wasn’t for this excursion. Even a 4x4 could not have accessed some of those routes. Groups never exceed seven vehicles, which are lead

along the way by a guide, which allowed us to request a few stops (in addition to those planned in the trip) when we came to spectacular spots. We stopped on the edge of volcanoes, nine craters, and we discovered an impressive landscape which reminded us of Arizona in the well known westerns. We then headed for the countryside of Malpaís and reached Lajares before carrying on to the desert of el Jable, going up and down in the barrancos before we reached El Cotillo. This is where we made a stop for refreshments, toilets, etc. and enjoyed the views of the lagoons by the lighthouse. We continued along the north coast and its magnificent little beaches until we reached Majanicho, with its beach of pebbles and black sand. From there we went back to Corralejo.

Bei der Rückkehr waren wir so begeistert von den verschiedenen Landschaften, die wir entdeckt hatten, dass wir uns gleich nach weiteren Routen erkundigten. Für die vielen Leute, die mehrere dieser Ausflüge machen möchten, gibt es verschiedene Strecken. Wir haben festgestellt, dass viele Leute jedes Jahr oder sogar mehrmals im gleichen Urlaub verschiedene Ausflüge machen oder sogar mehrmals die gleiche Strecke fahren. Wenn wir etwas mehr zahlen, können wir den Ausflug an unsere persönlichen Bedürfnisse anpassen und alleine mit einem privaten Führer losfahren, der uns überall hinbringt wo wir wollen. Die Quads sind behindertengerecht und wenn die Gruppe ungleich ist, Kinder dabei sind oder wenn die Besucher nicht fahren möchten, wird ihnen ein Chauffeur für die Gruppe zur Verfügung gestellt. Kurz gesagt, verpassen Sie diese Gelegenheit nicht!

As we stopped we were so enthusiastic about the different landscapes we had discovered that we went direct to get more information about the other routes. There are other routes that are suited to people who want to repeat the experience and we discovered that many people regularly year after year come back or even go on various trips during the same holiday. By paying a little more, you can personalise the excursion, and go with the guide only on a trip that has been designed just for us. Quads can be adapted for people with physical disabilities and if the group is in odd numbers, if there are children, or if someone does not want to pilot, they can get a chauffeur for the trip. All in all, we urge to give this experience a try.
