Los desvíos de vuelos de Túnez y Egipto provocan una subida del 15% en la llegada de turistas a Fuerteventura es adaptar los servicios a la nueva oleada de turistas, “para atender lo mejor posible las demandas de estos visitantes que no esperábamos pero que están llegando a Fuerteventura, para conseguir, en última instancia, fidelizarlos”, apunta Montelongo. Los asistentes respaldaron la idea de que los esfuerzos deben centralizarse en los servicios y la atención.

FMHOY - Fuerteventura El Hotel Fuerteventura Playa Blanca acogía el pasado mes de enero un encuentro entre la Consejera de Turismo del Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Águeda Montelongo, y los receptivos de los tour operadores que operan con la Isla, cuyo objetivo era conocer profundamente la situación especial que vive el turismo de Fuerteventura producida por los desvíos de aviones de Túnez y Egipto, y tomar las medidas necesarias para sacar el máximo provecho de las circunstancias. La reunión contó con la presencia de Jo Walton, directora de destino de TUI Travel, representante en Fuerteventura de TUI, Hotelbeds, Karavel, Nouvelle Frontiers, Thomson, First Choice y Arthuus Charter, ; Marcial Lozano, de Canarias Continente Atlántico, que representa a los tour operadores Itaka y Thalasso nº1; Jos Jansen, de Viajes Canarias Europa, en representación de Fram y Schauinsland; Carmelo Villaba, de Travelplan; y Werner Binder, representante de ITS. De forma global, fruto de la puesta en común de los datos de cada tour operador en la reunión, se prevé que la llegada de turistas a Fuerteventura se incremente aproximadamente un 15% durante los próximos meses, debido a las cancelaciones de viajes de los turistas a Egipto y Túnez. La mayoría de los tour operadores han tenido que habilitar nuevos vuelos a Fuerteventura para atender a las demandas de los turistas que no quieren viajar a estos destinos en conflicto. Una minoría de tour operadores no ha aumentado la capacidad de la oferta, pero actualmente tienen las plazas para Fuerteventura vendidas al 100%. La situación, según auguraron los representantes de compañías y tour operadores, se mantendrá, en principio, hasta mayo. Según informó Jo Walton, TUI está incrementando de manera considerable la disponibilidad de vuelos para Fuerteventura, sobre todo desde Alemania, con 3.000 plazas nuevas para Canarias, de las cuales 1.000 son para Fuerteventura. Desde Francia, Karavel ha dispuesto 2 aviones semanales más para Fuerteventura. Asimismo, se verán incrementados los vuelos de TUI Travel procedentes de Polonia, Holanda y Escandinavia. “Nos gustaría poder seguir vendiendo más viajes a Fuerteventura”, asegura Walton, “pero la disponibilidad de camas está completa, por lo que debemos centrarnos en ofrecer la mejor atención posible a los turistas, para que quieran repetir”. Desde Polonia, los desvíos han provocado que actualmente Fuerteventura cuente con dos vuelos semanales más de Itaka, que, según Marcial Lozano, “muy probablemente lleguen a ser tres nuevos vuelos más a la semana”. Thalasso nº1 también ha

aumentado los vuelos semanales a Fuerteventura desde Francia de 2 a 5, situación que se mantendrá, en principio, hasta mediados de marzo. Los representantes de Iberoservice, encargados de la gestión de Thomas Cook, My Travel, Neckerman e Iberojet en la Isla, no pudieron acudir a la reunión, pero enviaron un informe en el que se detallaba la situación de sus representados para con Fuerteventura. En este sentido, desde Iberoservice aseguran que, desde ahora hasta a abril, se producirá un notable incremento en la demanda de viajes a Fuerteventura, así como nuevos vuelos, fruto de las cancelaciones de Túnez y Egipto, lo que provocará la contratación de plazas extraordinarias para cubrir sus demandas desde, sobre todo, Alemania, Polonia y Francia. Otros tour operadores, como ITS, todavía no han incrementado el número de vuelos con Fuerteventura, pero tiene la capacidad de las plazas vendidas al 100%, según apuntó Werner Binder. Carmelo Villalba, en representación de Travelplan, se mostró un poco preocupado por la situación, ya que “se han parado las ventas porque no hay más camas disponibles, lo que quiere decir que, si esto continua así, desde Travelplan no podremos vender paquetes para Fuerteventura de cara a la semana santa”. Todos los presentes en la reunión estuvieron de acuerdo en que las circunstancias ofrecen una “gran oportunidad para el turismo de Fuerteventura”. En este sentido, en palabras de Montelongo, “tenemos la Isla de Fuerteventura llena al 100% en un momento que para nosotros históricamente siempre ha sido temporada baja”, pero también quiso destacar que “hay que hacer un esfuerzo enorme, por parte de todo el sector de la Isla, desde los empresarios hoteleros hasta la oferta de ocio y restauración, para saber responder a este imprevisto y convertirlo en una verdadera oportunidad”. Disruptions of flights to Tunisia and Egypt create a 15% increase of tourist arrivals in Fuerteventura FMHOY - Fuerteventura The Fuerteventura Playa Blanca Hotel hosted in January a meeting between the Tourism Councillor of Fuerteventura’s Cabildo, Águeda Montelongo, and representatives of Tour Operators that operate on the island in order to find out in depth about the peculiar situation that tourism in Fuerteventura is going through because of disruptions with flights to Tunisia and Egypt and in order to make the best out of this situation. The meeting included the presence of Jo Walton, destination director of TUI Travel, representative of TUI in Fuerteventura, Hotelbeds, Karavel, Nouvelle Frontiers, Thomson, First Choice and Arthuus Charter ; Marcial Lozano, of Canarias Continente Atlántico, who represents Itaka and Thalasso nº1 Tour Operators; Jos Jansen, from Viajes Canarias Europa, representing Fram and Schauinsland; Carmelo Villaba from Travelplan; and Werner Binder, representative of ITS. Globally, after putting together the information provided by each tour operator, it was assessed that tourist arrivals in Fuerteventura would increase by 15% over the next few months because of travelling cancellations to Egypt and Tunisia. Most Tour Operators have had to schedule new flights to Fuerteventura in order to cover demands from tourists who do not wish to travel

to destinations experiencing conflicts. A minority of Tour Operators have not increased their capacity, but have sold 100% of their availability for Fuerteventura. According to Travel Companies and Tour Operators the situation should remain the same until May. According to Jo Walton, TUI are significantly increa-

sing flight availability to Fuerteventura, mainly from Germany, with 3.000 extra spaces for the Canaries of which 1.000 to Fuerteventura. From France, Karavel has scheduled another two weekly flights to Fuerteventura. Also, TUI Travel flights will increase from Poland, Holland and Scandinavia. “We would like to keep on selling more flights to Fuerteventura”, assures Walton, but accommodation availability is full, which is why we must concentrate on offering the best possible attention to tourists in order to create repeat customers”. From Poland, disruptions have made Itaka schedule another two weekly flights, which, according to Marcial Lozano, “will probably increase to three additional weekly flights”. Thalasso nº1 have also increased their weekly flights to Fuerteventura from France from 2 to 5, a situation that should remain this way until mid-March. Representatives of Iberoservice , in charge of managing Thomas Cook, My Travel, Neckerman and Iberojet on the island could not attend the meeting but sent a survey that detailed their situation for Fuerteventura. Iberoservice have confirmed that from now on and until April, they will experience a significant increase in travelling demand for Fuerteventura and additional flights which implies demand for extra accommodation in order to cover the demand mainly from Germany, Poland and France. Other Tour Operators such as ITS, have not increased their flight numbers to Fuerteventura but have sold 100% of their capacity, according to Werner Binder. Carmelo Villaba, representing Travelplan, looked preoccupied by the situation because “sales have stopped as there is no accommodation left, which means that if this carries on, Travelplan will not be able to sell package tours for Fuerteventura for Easter”. All those present during the meeting agreed that those circumstances are “a great opportunity for tourism in Fuerteventura”. Also, as Ms. Montelongo added “the Island of Fuerteventura is currently at 100% occupancy during a season that has always been low until now”, but she also wanted to point out that “enormous efforts have to be made by the whole sector on the Island, from hotel facilities to the leisure and restaurant trade, in order to be able to cope with this unexpected situation and convert it into a true opportunity”. Those present during the meeting unanimously agreed that the most important right now is to adapt services to the new wave of tourists “in order to attend as best as possible the demands of those unexpected tourists who are arriving in Fuerteventura, in order to create repeat customers”, added Ms. Montelongo. All present agreed that efforts must be concentrated on services and customer care.

Die Umleitung von Flügen aus Tunesien und Ägypten führen dazu, dass 15% mehr Touristen nach Fuerteventura kommen FMHOY - Fuerteventura Im Januar fand im Hotel Fuerteventura Playa Blanca ein Treffen der Beauftragten für Tourismus des Cabildo von Fuerteventura, Águeda Montelongo, und den Vertretern der auf der Insel tätigen Reiseveranstaltern statt, mit dem bezweckt wurde, die Situation genau kennenzulernen, die auf Fuerteventura wegen der Umleitung von Flügen aus Tunesien und Ägypten entstanden ist, und die notwendigen Maßnahmen zu ergreifen, um so gut wie möglich von diesen Umständen zu profitieren. An dem Treffen nahmen folgende Personen teil: auch Jo Walton , die örtliche Direktorin von TUI Travel, die auf Fuerteventura TUI, Hotelbeds, Karavel, Nouvelle Frontiers, Thomson, First Choice und Arthuus Charter vertritt, Marcial Lozano von Canarias Continente Atlántico, der die Reiseveranstalter Itaka und Thalasso Nr. 1 vertritt; Jos Jansen von Viajes Canarias Europa, für Fram und Schauinsland, Carmelo Villaba von Travelplan und Werner Binder als Vertreter von ITS. Bei diesem Treffen wurden die Daten jedes Reisveranstalters zu dieser Lage dargelegt. Im Allgemeinen geht man davon aus, dass in den nächsten Monaten ungefähr 15% mehr Touristen nach Fuerteventura kommen werden, weil diese ihre Reisen nach Ägypten oder Tunesien canceln. Die Mehrzahl der Reiseveranstalter mussten weitere Flüge nach Fuerteventura einrichten, um der Nachfrage der Touristen gerecht zu werden, die nicht in diese konfliktgeladene Gegend reisen möchte. Nur eine Minderheit der Reiseveranstalter hat die Kapazität ihres Angebots nicht erhöht, aber diese haben zurzeit 100 % ihrer Reisen nach Fuerteventura verkauft. Nach Meinung der Vertreter der Unternehmen und der Reiseveranstalter wird diese Situation bis Mai dauern. Jo Walton erklärte, dass TUI ihre Flüge nach Fuerteventura auf bemerkenswerte Weise steigert, dies betrifft vor allem die Flüge aus Deutschland. Es gibt 3.000 Plätze mehr auf die Kanaren, von denen 1.000 nach Fuerteventura gehen. In Frankreich hat Karavel 2 weitere Flüge pro Woche nach Fuerteventura eingerichtet. Auch die Flüge von der TUI Travel aus Polen, Holland und Skandinavien werden gesteigert. “Wir würden gerne weiterhin mehr Reisen nach Fuerteventura verkaufen”, versichert Walton, “aber alle Betten sind schon belegt, deshalb müssen wir uns darauf konzentrieren, uns so gut wie möglich um die Touristen zu kümmern, damit diese Lust bekommen wieder zu kommen”. Die Umleitung der Flüge hat dazu geführt, dass nun zwei weitere Itaka-Flüge pro Woche nach Fuer-

teventura kommen. Marcial Lozano sagt: “es ist sehr wahrscheinlich, dass daraus drei werden”. Auch Thalasso Nr.1 hat seine Flüge von Frankreich nach Fuerteventura von 2 auf 5 erhöht. Es ist vorgesehen, dass diese Situation bis Mitte März dauern wird. Die Vertreter von Iberoservice, dem Unternehmen, das auf der Insel für die Verwaltung von Thomas Cook, My Travel, Neckerman und Iberojet zuständig ist, konnten an dem Treffen nicht teilnehmen, aber sie schickten einen detaillierten Bericht über die Lage der von ihnen vertretenen Unternehmen aufn Fuerteventura. Iberoservice versichert, dass wegen der Stornierung von Reisen nach Tunesien und nach Ägypten von nun an bis April die Nachfrage nach Reisen und weiteren Flügen nach Fuerteventura steigen wird. Diese Nachfrage kommt vor allem aus Deutschland, Polen und Frankreich. Andere Reiseveranstalter wie ITS haben die Zahl ihrer Flüge nach Fuerteventura zwar noch nicht erhöht, haben aber – nach Angaben von Werner Binder – 100 % ihrer Plätze verkauft. Carmelo Villalba, die Travelplan vertrat, war etwas besorgt über die Lage, denn “der Verkauf wurde ges-

toppt, weil nicht mehr Betten zur Verfügung stehen. Das heißt, wenn das so weitergeht, kann Travelplan keine Pakete nach Fuerteventura für die Osterferien verkaufen”. Alle Anwesenden waren sich darüber einig, dass diese Umstände eine “ tolle Gelegenheit für die Tourismusbranche von Fuerteventura” sind. In diesem Sinne erklärte Montelongo: “Die Insel Fuerteventura ist zurzeit 100% besetzt, und zwar in einer Jahreszeit, die für uns früher immer Nebensaison war”. Sie fügte jedoch hinzu: “Die Tourismusbranche – von den Hotels, dem Freizeitangebot und den Restaurants - der Insel muss sich sehr anstrengen, um auf dieses unerwartete Ereignis zu reagieren und eine Chance daraus zu machen”. Die Anwesenden waren sich darüber einig, dass es jetzt das wichtigste ist, die Leistungen auf die zahlreichen Touristen einzustellen, “um diesen Besuchern, die keiner erwartet hatte und die ganz plötzlich nach Fuerteventura kamen, so viel wie möglich zu bieten, und vor allem um zu bewirken, dass diese treu werden“, erklärt Montelongo. Die Anwesenden unterstützten die Idee, dass man vor allem auf die Leistungen und auf die Betreuung setzen sollte.

Las Cámaras de Lanzarote y Fuerteventura unidas firman un convenio FMHOY - Fuerteventura Las Cámaras de Comercio, Industria y Navegación de las islas orientales han firmado un convenio de colaboración que tiene por objeto impulsar el cumplimiento de fines comunes en beneficio de las dos instituciones. Este convenio se fija como primer objetivo defender el reconocimiento de la doble insularidad. Para ello, se propondrá una modulación del REF donde se contemplen y compensen los costes que ocasiona la doble insularidad. Otro de los aspectos que tiene previsto abordar esta unión es la modulación de las ayudas al transporte de mercancías en las islas de Lanzarote y Fuerteventura. Las Cámaras orientales reclamarán también su representación en diferentes órganos institucionales y crearán una Corte de Arbitraje y Mediación conjunta. Este convenio trata de aunar esfuerzos con el fin de alcanzar objetivos comunes. Para ello, se creará un grupo de trabajo que será fundamentalmente de base técnica y en el seno de dicho grupo se podrán proponer nuevos asuntos que resulten de interés para la actividad económica de ambas islas. En el marco de este convenio de colaboración, ambas Cámaras están ya trabajando en la elaboración de un documento conjunto de propuestas frente a los problemas de logística y transporte que sufren las empresas industriales de las islas de Lanzarote y Fuerteventura, con el fin de elevarlo al Observatorio Industrial de Canarias.

Die Kammern für Handel, Industrie und Schifffahrt der östlichen Inseln haben ein Kooperationsabkommen unterzeichnet, mit dem beabsichtigt wird, die Erfüllung von gemeinsamen Zielen zu fördern, die beiden Institutionen nutzen werden. In diesem Abkommen wird als erstes Ziel festgesetzt, die Ankerkennung der doppelten Insellage zu verteidigen. Zu diesem Zweck wird eine Modulation des REF vorgeschlagen, in der die durch die doppelte IInsellage verursachten Kosten festgestellt und kompensiert werden. Außerdem wird mit diesem Zusammenschluss die Modulation der Hilfen für den Transport von Waren auf die Inseln Lanzarote und Fuerteventura beabsichtigt. Die östlichen Kammern fordern außerdem, in verschiedenen institutionellen Organen vertreten zu

werden, und sie werden ein gemeinsames Schiedsund Vermittlungsgericht gründen. Mit diesem Abkommen wird beabsichtigt, sich mit vereinten Kräften für die Verwirklichung der gemeinsamen Ziele einzusetzen. Zu diesem Zweck wird eine Arbeitsgruppe gegründet, die sich vor allem mit den technischen Fragestellungen befasst. In dieser Gruppe werden Angelegenheiten erörtert, die für die Wirtschaft auf den beiden Inseln wichtig sind. Im Rahmen dieses Kooperationsabkommens arbeiten beide Kammern schon an der Erstellung eines gemeinsamen Dokuments, in dem Lösungen für die Probleme vorgeschlagen werden, die die industriellen Unternehmen der Inseln Fuerteventura und Lanzarote mit der Logistik und mit dem Transport haben, um dieses bei dem industriellen Obersvatorium der Kanaren einzureichen.

The Chambers of commerce of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura unite

The Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of the Eastern Islands have signed a collaboration agreement that aims at promoting joint initiatives that will benefit both institutions. This agreement has for first objective to defend the status of residency on both islands. To do so, it has been suggested to carry out an adjustment of the REF where the costs caused by the double residency would be recognised and compensated. Another aspect is the adjustment of financial help for merchandise transport between the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. The Eastern Chambers of Commerce also claim their representation in various institutions and wish to create a joint Arbitration and Mediation Court. This agreement aims at uniting efforts in order to reach common objectives. Therefore, a work group will be created which will mainly be based on the technical side and new projects concerning the interests of economical activities on both islands will be suggested within this group. Within this collaboration agreement, both Chambers are working to elaborate a document that contains proposals to logistics and transport problems that industrial businesses are encountering on the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura in order to present them to the Canarian Industrial Observatory.

‘No sólo sol’, promociona Fuerteventura como destino de senderismo, avistamiento de aves o museos

‘No sólo sol’, promotes Fuerteventura as a hiking, bird watching or museum destination

FMHOY - Fuerteventura El interés de Fuerteventura como destino turístico va mucho más allá del sol y la playa. Sin embargo, para poder promocionar la Isla de manera completa y real hace falta conocerla a fondo y saber transmitir todas sus singularidades. Bajo esta premisa y por primera vez, se está desarrollando en el Ecomuseo de La Alcogida una escuela taller que bajo el nombre de No sólo sol imparte, además de la formación turística tradicional (idiomas, gestión de empresas turísticas, marketing…) toda una serie de conocimientos sobre el patrimonio insular, así como las herramientas necesarias para que los futuros informadores sean capaces de transmitir esos conocimientos, tanto a visitantes como a residentes, impulsando actividades que no suele propiciar el turismo convencional como el senderismo, el avistamiento de aves o las visitas a museos. Un grupo de 20 alumnos que se encontraban en situación de desempleo, forman parte desde noviembre de 2010, de esta escuela taller, un proyecto promovido desde la Red de Museos del Cabildo, que

dirige la consejera Candelaria Umpiérrez, subvencionado por el Servicio Canario de Empleo y cofinanciado por el Fondo Social Europeo. Candelaria Umpiérrez ha explicado que esta escuela taller “permitirá dotar a la Isla de jóvenes profesionales formados en turismo rural y gestión de ocio y tiempo libre” cuyos servicios serán requeridos por empresas públicas y privadas. El proyecto, en el plano cultural posibilitará hacer llegar a todos aquellos que estén en la Isla sus singularidades. En el ámbito económico, contribuirá a posicionar a Fuerteventura “como un mercado de características singulares que no sólo oferte sol y playa sino toda una gama de parques naturales, bienes patrimoniales, zonas rurales y centros de ocio y museos”, concluye la consejera. El plan consta de una primera etapa de carácter formativo de iniciación y otra etapa de formación que se alterna con el trabajo y la práctica profesional. El alumnado que complete la formación, noviembre de 2012, obtendrá la titulación de Informadores Turísticos Insulares.

Um richtig für die Insel werben zu können, muss man sie jedoch gut kennen und ausführlich beschreiben können. Unter dieser Vorbedingung entsteht zum ersten Mal im Ökomuseum La Alcogida eine Schule, in der unter dem Namen Nicht nur Sonne neben der traditionelle Tourismusausbildung (Sprachen, Geschäftsführung, Marketing …) zahlreiche Kenntnisse über den Reichtum der Insel vermittelt werden sowie die notwendigen Werkzeuge, damit diese zukünftigen Informanten in der Lage sind, diese Kenntnisse sowohl den Besuchern als auch den Einheimischen zu vermitteln. Dabei werden Aktivitäten gefördert, die der traditionelle Tourismus nicht bietet, wie Wandern, Vogelbeobachtung und Museumsbesuche. Eine Gruppe von 20 Arbeitslosen besucht seit November 2010 diese Schule. Es ist, ein Projekt, das vom Museumsnetz der Insel gefördert und von Candelaria Umpiérrez geleitet wird. Es wird vom kanarischen Beschäftigungsdienst subventioniert und

vom europäischen Sozialfond kofinanziert. Candelaria Umpiérrez hat erklärt, dass diese Schule dafür sorgt, dass es “auf der Insel junge Fachleute mit einer Ausbildung im ländlichem Tourismus und im Freizeitbereich geben wird.” Diese werden für öffentliche und für private Unternehmen arbeiten können. Durch dieses Projekt bekommen alle Besucher der Insel die Möglichkeit, sie genau kennenzulernen. Auf finanzieller Ebene wird es dazu beitragen, “Fuerteventura als einen einzigartigen Markt zu platzieren, der nicht nur Sonne und Strand zu bieten hat, sondern zahlreiche Naturparks, historisches Reichtum, ländliche Gebiete, Freizeitzentren und Museen”, resumierte die Politikerin. Der Plan besteht aus zwei Phasen der Ausbildung, in der ersten machen die Schüler einen Einführungskurs, in der zweiten Phase dagegen kommt zu der Ausbildung auch noch die praktische Arbeit. Die Schüler, die ihre Ausbildung im November 2012 abschließen, bekommen den Titel Tourismus-Informanten der Insel.

The interest for Fuerteventura as a tourist destination goes far beyond the sun and the beach. However, in order to promote the Island in a complete and real manner it is essential to know it inside out and how to share its peculiarities. With this idea in mind and for the first time, an educational workshop is being developed in the Ecomuseum of La Alcogida under the name “No solo sol” (More than just sun) that, in addition to traditional tourist training (languages, tourist business management, marketing, etc.), also provides information on the island’s heritage, as well as necessary means so that the future guides can transmit this knowledge, to both visitors and residents, promoting activities that favour less conventional types of activities such as hiking, bird watching and visiting museums. A group of 20 students who were unemployed, integrated the educational workshop in November 2010, for a project that was promoted by the Cabildo’s Museum network, managed by Candelaria Umpiérrez, financed by the Canarian Employment Service and co-financed by the European Social Fund. Candelaria Umpiérrez explained that this educational workshop “will provide the Island with young professionals trained in rural tourism and leisure management” whose services will be required by public and private businesses. On a cultural point of view, the project will promote the Island’s peculiarities to visitors. Financially, it will contribute to place Fuerteventura “as a market with peculiar characteristics that offer more than just sun and beaches with a wide range of natural parks, heritage, rural areas, leisure centres and museums”, concludes the councillor. In its first stage, the plan is based on training, initiation and other training stages that alternate between work and professional experience. Students who complete the training course in November 2012 will graduate as Island Tourist Guides.

Premiados en la Gala del Deporte de Fuerteventura FMHOY - Fuerteventura La IV Gala del Deporte de Fuerteventura, que organizó nuevamente en esta edición el Cabildo de Fuerteventura, se celebró el pasado mes de febrero en el Hotel Elba Carlota de El Castillo (Caleta de Fuste, Antigua) contando con una gran participación de público –asistieron más de 300 personas del mundo del deporte y acompañantes de los premiados-, que disfrutó de una emotiva velada en la que se entregaron los diez premios que integran esta iniciativa. El acto estuvo conducido por la periodista Yolanda Martínez, y contó con las intervenciones del presidente del Cabildo majorero, Mario Cabrera, la consejera de Consejería de Educación, Universidades, Cultura y Deportes del Gobierno de Canarias, Milagros Luis Brito, y la consejera de Presidencia, Deportes y Caza del Cabildo, Edilia Pérez. Los tres felicitaron a los galardonados y nominados por los éxitos cosechados, y animaron a todos los presentes a seguir trabajando por el deporte majorero, desde la base hasta las competiciones de máximo nivel. El jurado de los premios, compuesto por los representantes de las federaciones y delegaciones deportivas y de las instituciones de la Isla, reunido apenas dos horas antes del comienzo de la gala, acordó conceder los siguientes galardones: Mejor Evento Deportivo Macro espectáculo deportivo Sol y Luna. Fuerteventura’ Sports’ Gala Awards Fuerteventura’s IV Sports’ Gala, organised once again by Fuerteventura’s Cabildo, took place in February in the Elba Carlota Hotel in El Castillo (Caleta de Fuste, Antigua) and included the participation of a large public – over 300 personalities of the sport’s world and their entourage were present -, who enjoyed an emotional evening while the ten first prizes of this event were presented. The event was animated by the journalist Yolanda Martínez, and included interventions from the President of the Island’s Cabildo, Mario Cabrera, the Education, Universities, Culture and Sports Councillor, Milagros Luis Brito, and the Cabildo’s Presidency, Sports and Hunting Councillor, Edilia Pérez. All three congratulated the winners and nominated participants for their successes and urged all presents to keep on working for Majorero Sport from basic to maximum competition level. The jury, composed of representatives of the island’s sports’ federations, delegations and institutions got together short of two hours before the beginning of the gala in order to decide who to hand out the following prizes to: Best Sport’s Event Macro espectáculo deportivo Sol y Luna. The prize

was handed over to Beatriz Fajardo, Sports Councillor for Puerto del Rosario’s Ayuntamiento. “Me ha tocado una época difícil, pero se que estamos sembrado para el futuro” FMHOY - Fuerteventura Desde hace mas de tres años, Jota Cabrera está al frente del Patronato de Turismo; es un joven ejecutivo canario, que estudió en Madrid la carrera de Ciencias Empresariales. En la actualidad cuenta ya, con nueve años de experiencia en empresas privadas en España y Alemania. ¿Viene desde el sector turístico? No, es mi primer trabajo en este sector. Después de estudiar Empresariales, hice un Máster en Comercio Exterior en Madrid y Londres, y después pasé al mundo de la banca en la parte financiera. De ahí pasé a la central en Múnich de la financiera de BMW, donde estuve unos cuatro años más. Es fácil imaginar que domina bien el alemán... Sí, pero hablo mejor el inglés, ya que estudié siempre en el Colegio Americano de Las Palmas y luego hice el 2º año de BUP en Estados Unidos y posteriormente seguí estudiando en Londres. Con esa base lingüística era cuestión de tiempo que llegara su oportunidad en el sector turístico. Yo considero que un gerente debe saber gestionar cualquier actividad que se marque, porque es lo mismo vender una isla en el exterior, que otro tipo de mercancía. Hay una inversión, un factor humano y un periodo de tiempo a cumplir para conseguir los objetivos trazados, sean del mundo turístico, financiero o de cualquier índole. En el poco tiempo que llevamos en su oficina, comprobamos el ritmo al que trabaja ¿Es siempre así? Sí, estamos siempre corriendo, intentando llegar a todo. ¿Qué significado tiene todo, en su caso? El Patronato de Turismo tiene como presidente a Mario Cabrera, la vicepresidenta es Águeda Monte-

longo y lo forman un Consejo Rector que lo componen en total unas 25 personas que representan diferentes entidades relacionadas con el turismo, tales como ayuntamientos, empresarios, Cámara de Comercio, etc., que se reúnen una vez cada dos meses para marcar una estrategia a seguir. Luego es Águeda Montelongo quien, como Consejera de Turismo, lleva el día a día. Dentro de este entorno, yo vendría a ser el brazo ejecutor. Colaboramos con todos los medios promocionales que pueden atraer la Isla un sector de público de un nivel económico mayor. También estamos diariamente en contacto con todas las compañías aéreas, tanto para captar las que nosotros necesitamos, como aquellas que desean volar a nuestra Isla. También tratamos con los distintos tour-operadores. Coordinamos, además, todos los eventos de la Isla y los promocionamos, nos encargamos de guías, mapas, publicidades diversas, organización de Oficinas de Información, etc.

Parece que puede dificultar el crecimiento turístico de la isla, la marcada reducción de vuelos que han hecho todas las compañías ¿No es así? Realmente es una falsa imagen, ya que la Isla, tal y como les muestro en estos gráficos, tiene más vuelos que los que tenía en el año anterior. Reducir vuelos con la Península definitivamente perjudica nuestra movilidad, pero no son sólo esos vuelos los que traen el turismo que necesitamos; a cambio se han ampliado muchos vuelos desde Europa y sobre todo de puntos que pueden llenar nuestra Isla en los meses de invierno, que es su época habitual de vacaciones. Hay incluso compañías nuevas que antes no operaban con nosotros. Esto tiene que suponer un crecimiento visible en Fuerteventura… Hemos crecido considerablemente tanto en vuelos como en número de visitantes, y es preciso aclarar que no es consecuencia del conflicto egipcio, pues aunque es cierto que esto nos ha desviado mucho turismo hacia aquí, el aumento de un 33% del que hablo se debe al año pasado y en el mes anterior al conflicto político ya habíamos crecido un 40 % más que el mismo mes del año anterior. En enero ya habíamos tenido 50 vuelos más. Somos muy conscientes, de que este crecimiento puntual, por la revuelta política no es una solución definitiva. Sabemos que cuando el sistema político se estabilice en Egipto, el turista volverá, porque es mucho más económico que nosotros y además intentará recuperar sus visitantes con unas ofertas mucho más baratas todavía. Por eso, nuestra intención es seguir captando al turista fiel a la Isla, que la elige por distintos motivos, playa y sol, deportes, o bien seguridad para la familia. Habrá segmentos que, al comparar sus actividades en donde iban habitualmente con nosotros, prefieran nuestra Isla pero otros seguirán buscando el precio menor. No debemos por lo tanto llenar nuestras camas de situaciones puntuales, dejando a la gente fiel a la isla, sin posibilidades de venir. Ha sido muy amable al dedicarnos unos minutos y le deseamos que pueda ver el fruto del trabajo que está realizado precisamente en los años más duros de crisis en la Isla. Sí, me ha tocado una época difícil, pero creo que estamos sembrado para el futuro de la forma más adecuada.

“I have had to face a difficult stage, but we are all set for the future” FMHOY - Fuerteventura For over three years Jota Cabrera has been at the head of the Tourism Board; he is a young Canarian executive who studied in Business Science in Madrid. He now has nine years experience in private businesses in Spain and Germany. Do you come from the Tourism sector? No, it is my first job in this sector. After my Business studies, I did a Master in International Commerce in Madrid and London, this is when I went over to the banking world in the financial side. Then I went to the finance central of BMW in Munich, where I stayed for four years. We guess you speak German quite well… Yes, but I speak English better, because I studied at the American School of Las Palmas and later I spent my 2nd year of BUP in the United States and then I studied in London. With such a basis in foreign languages it was only a question of time before you would have an opportunity to enter the tourism sector. As far as I am concerned a manager should be able to manage any activity at all, because it is the same to sell the idea of an island abroad, as it would be to sell any other merchandise. There is an investment, a human factor and a period of time in which to complete objectives, whether they are related to tourism, finance or anything else. During the short time we have spent in your office, we can see that you work at quite a pace, is it always this way? Yes, we are always running, trying to do everything. What does “everything” mean in your case? The Tourism Board’s President is Mario Cabrera, the vice-president is Águeda Montelongo and it consists

of a Governing Council of 25 people who represent various entities related to tourism, such as Ayuntamientos, businesses, Chambers of Commerce, etc.. They meet once every two months in order to establish a strategy to follow. Later it is Águeda Montelongo who, as Tourism Councillor, takes care of the day to day management. It is within this environment that I could be described as the executing body. We collaborate with all the promotional medias that can attract public with more buying power to the island. We are also in daily contact with all the airlines, both to attract those we need but also those who wish to fly to our island. We also deal with all the tour operators. We also coordinate all the events of the Island, we

promote them, take care of guides, maps, various publications, organise the Tourism Information Offices, etc. It seems that the tourism growth of the island could be endangered by of the airlines’ decrease in flights. Is that right? It is actually a false image, because, as figures and charts show, there are more flights to the island this year than last year. Reducing flights to Mainland Spain is definitely detrimental to our mobility, but those are not the flights that bring the tourism we need; on the other hand the number of flights from Europe have increased and mainly from areas that can fill our Island during the Winter months, which is their usual holiday period. There are even new airlines that didn’t use to operate with us. This should produce a significant growth for Fuerteventura… We have considerably increased both concerning flights and visitors’ numbers, we should also point out that it is not due to the conflicts in Egypt, although it has deviated many tourists our way, the 33% increased which I am talking about is due to last year’s work and one month before the political conflict we had already experienced a 40% increase compared to the same month last year. In January we had already received 50 additional flights. We are very aware of the fact that this punctual increase caused by the political conflict is not a long term solution. We know that when the political system is established in Egypt, tourism will start again because it is much cheaper than we are and it will work to get its visitors back with even cheaper offers. This is the reason why we intend to keep on attracting loyal tourists to the Island, those who choose the island for various reasons, beach, sun, sports or safety for their family. There will be segments who, when comparing their activities where they used to holiday with ours, will prefer our Island but others will keep on searching for cheaper prices. It was very kind of you to dedicate a few minutes to us and we hope you can enjoy the fruit of your work which is actually being achieved during the toughest years of crisis on the Island. That’s true, I have had to face a difficult stage, but I believe that we are all set for the future.

“Ich muss mein Amt in schwierigen Zeiten ausüben, aber wir säen für die Zukunft” FMHOY - Fuerteventura Seit mehr als drei Jahren leitet Jota Cabrera das Patronat für Tourismus. Er ist ein junger Kanarier, der in Madrid Betriebswirtschaftswissenschaften studiert hat. Er hat insgesamt neun Jahre in privaten Unternehmen in Spanien und Deutschland gearbeitet. Kommen Sie aus der Tourismusbranche? Nein, das ist meine erste Tätigkeit in dieser Branche. Nachdem ich Betriebswirtschaft studiert hatte, machte ich einen Master in Außenhandel in Madrid und London. Danach war ich im Bereich der Banken und der Finanzen tätig. Von dort aus ging ich nach München, wo ich in der Zentrale der Bank im Finanzbereich arbeitete; ich blieb dort vier Jahre. Sie können vermutlich gut Deutsch... Ja, aber mein Englisch ist besser, denn ich war in Las Palmas in der amerikanischen Schule, und später habe ich das zweite Jahr BUP in den USA gemacht. Danach studierte ich in London. Mit diesen Sprachkenntnissen mussten Sie wohl in der Tourismusbranche enden. Ich bin der Meinung, dass ein Geschäftsführer in der Lage sein muss, jegliche Aktivität zu managen, denn man verkauft eine Insel an die Außenwelt, wie jede andere Ware. Es gibt eine Investition, Menschen und eine Frist, um die Ziele zu erreichen, egal ob es um Tourismus, Finanzen oder sonst was geht. In der kurzen Zeit, die wir hier in Ihrem Büro verbracht haben, haben wir festgestellt, dass Sie sehr schnell arbeiten. Ist das Immer so? Sa, wir haben es immer eilig und versuchen, alles zu schaffen. Was bedeutet in Ihrem Fall alles? Der Präsident des Patronat für Tourismus ist Mario Cabrera, die Vizepräsidentin ist Águeda Montelongo, außerdem gibt es einen Vorstand, dem insgesamt 25 Personen angehöhren, die die verschiedenen Einrichtungen vertreten, die mit dem Tourismus zu tun haben, Gemeinden, Unternehmer, die Handelskammer usw. Die treffen sich alle zwei Monate, um eine Strategie zu erarbeiten. Águeda Montelongo ist als Beauftragte für Tourismus diejenige, die sich tagtäglich um das Amt kümmert. Ich bin sozusagen der ausführende Arm. Wir unterstützen alle Werbekampagnen, die ein wohlhabenderes Publikum auf die Insel bringen können. Außerdem sind wir tagtäglich in Kontakt mit allen Fluggesellschaften, sowohl um diejenigen

anzuwerben, die wir brauchen, wie diejenigen, die auf unsere Insel fliegen möchten Wir verhandeln auch mit verschiedenen Reiseveranstaltern. Außerdem koordinieren wir alle Events, die auf der Insel stattfinden, und werben für diese. Wir geben Führer, Landkarten und verschiedene Publikationen heraus, sind für die Organisation der Informationsbüros zuständig usw. Es scheint, dass das touristische Wachstum der Insel dadurch beeinträchtigt werden kann, dass alle Fluggesellschaften die Zahl Ihrer Flüge reduziert haben. Stimmt das? Das ist eine falsche Vorstellung. Ich kann Ihnen mit

diesen Graphiken beweisen, dass dieses Jahr mehr Flüge auf die Insel kommen als im letzten Jahr. Die Tatsache, dass es weniger Flüge vom spanischen Festland gibt, hat natürlich Folgen. Aber die Touristen kommen nicht nur mit diesen Flügen; Es gibt dafür immer mehr Flüge aus Europa, vor allem aus Orten, aus denen die Touristen im Winter auf unsere Insel kommen, da sie in dieser Saison normalerweise Urlaub machen. Es gibt sogar neue Unternehmen, die früher nicht mit uns gearbeitet haben. Das muss zu einem sichtbaren Wachstum auf Fuerteventura führen… Wir sind sowohl was die Flüge als auch was die Besucher betrifft, bemerkenswert gewachsen, und ich möchte klarstellen, dass das nicht an den Problemen in Ägypten liegt, obwohl es stimmt, dass deshalb viele Touristen hier her gekommen sind. Das Wachstum von 33%, von dem ich spreche, ist im vergangenen Jahr verankert. Auch in dem Monat vor dem Konflikt sind wir im Vergleich zum gleichen Monat des vergangenen Jahres um 40 % gewachsen. Schon im Januar gab es 50 Flüge mehr. Wir sind uns dessen bewusst, dass dieses vom Zufall bewirkte Wachstum keine endgültige Lösung ist. Wir wissen, dass die Touristen, sobald die Lage in Ägypten wieder stabil ist, wieder dorthin fahren werden, denn dort es ist billiger als hier. Außerdem wird man versuchen, die Touristen mit noch billigeren Angeboten wieder zu ködern. Deshalb setzen wir auf die Touristen, die der Insel treu sind und diese aus verschiedenen Gründen auswählen: Strand, Sonne, Sport oder die Sicherheit für die Familie. Es gibt Leute, die – wenn Sie unser Angebot mit dem vergleichen, was ihnen an ihrem üblichen Urlaubsort geboten wird – unsere Insel bevorzugen; andere dagegen werden weiterhin das Billigste suchen. Daher dürfen wir unsere Betten nicht mit Zufallsgästen füllen, so dass die treuen Besucher nicht mehr kommen können. Es war sehr freundlich von Ihnen, dass Sie uns Ihre Zeit gewidmet haben, und wir wünschen Ihnen, dass man bald die Erfolge dieser Arbeit sehen kann, die Sie in den harten Krisenjahren auf der Insel geleistet haben. “Hemos digitalizado las salas para poder ofrecer películas en 3D” FMHOY - Fuerteventura ¡Tenemos buenas noticias para nuestros lectores amantes del cine!, y para poder informarles correctamente nos hemos reunido con el director de Yelmo Cines del Centro Comercial Atlántico, Luis Becerra. ¿Luís en qué consisten estas novedades? Hemos digitalizado las salas para poder ofrecer a nuestros clientes las películas en 3D, que son la tendencia del mercado actual. Tenemos ya tres salas en 3D y 2 en 2D. Nuestros lectores ya saben que las proyecciones en 3D, se acompañan de unas gafas especiales, que permiten ver con una gran realidad las imágenes, sintiéndote incluso casi participe de la historia pero ¿cuál es la diferencia de las salas que se han digitalizado para 2D, con lo que veíamos antes? Mejora mucho más la calidad de la imagen y del sonido. Yelmo Cines ha sido pionero en Canarias, y ahora ya hemos llegado a Fuerteventura, aportando esta nueva tecnología y esperamos que para agosto estén todas terminadas aquí también. Están celebrando con grandes promociones estas nuevas tecnologías, cuéntenos... Sí, estamos haciendo varias promociones con el fin de que nuestros clientes vivan de cerca la experiencia del 3D. Sí, pero tenemos más novedades. Luis, los habituales al cine hemos notado un cambio importante y a mejor tanto en la higiene del centro como en el cuidada e higiene de las salas... Sí, desde que llegué a esta gerencia me he preocupado mucho de que las salas estén en perfectas condiciones de higienes, olores y cuidado de las buracas, me agrada que haya notado este cambio del que he tomado personalmente medidas. “Wir haben die Vorführräume digitalisiert, um 3D Filme anbieten zu können” FMHOY - Fuerteventura Wir haben gute Neuigkeiten für die Kinofreunde unter unseren Lesern und Leserinnen! Heute haben wir uns mit Luis Becerra, dem Direktor des Kinos Yelmo Cines, das im Centro Comercial Atlántico untergebracht ist, getroffen. Luís, was hat sich geändert? Wir haben die Vorführräume digitalisiert, um unseren Kunden 3D-Filme zu bieten, die immer beliebter werden. Wir haben 3D-Säle und 2 2D-Säle. Ich glaube unsere Leser wissen, dass man bei 3DVorführungen besondere Brillen trägt, durch die die Bilder wirklicher aussehen, so dass es einem vorkommt, als ob man selbst dabei wäre. Aber was ist neu an den 2D-Filmen? Die Bild- und Tonqualität sind wesentlich besser. Yelmo Cines war auf den Kanaren bahnbrechend. Nun sind wir mit dieser neuen Technologie auch nach Fuerteventura gekommen und wir hoffen, dass im August alles fertig ist. Sie machen große Werbeaktionen für diese neuen Technologien; erzählen Sie uns bitte etwas darüber... Ja, wir führen verschiedene Werbekampagnen durch, damit unsere Kunden die 3D-Filme kennenlernen. Die erste dieser Kampagnen läuft bis zum 3. März; in dieser Zeit bekommen alle Kunden, die die MoviYelmo-Karte besitzen, sowohl im Kino als auch für das Menü in unserer Bar einen 2x1 Gutschein. Das ist ja toll! Man kauft eine Eintrittskarte und bekommt eine zweite geschenkt. Gilt das wirklich auch für das Menü? Ja, das stimmt. Außerdem werden die Filme Avatar und Toy Story für all diejenigen Kinofans, die noch nicht die Gelegenheit hatten, diese Filme zu sehen, in 3D für nur 3 € gezeigt; dazu kommt 1 € für die Brille. Dieser Preis gilt für alle Vorführungen dieser Filme. Unsere Kunden dürfen die Brillen behalten, und können sie bei anderen Filmvorführungen nutzen, so dass sie dann keine mehr kaufen müssen. Das ist ja sehr interessant! Dieses Angebot muss man nutzen. Ja, aber es gibt noch mehr Neuigkeiten. Wir haben die Exklusivrechte für zwei weitere Filme in 3D: Saw-7 und El Oso Yogui; und am 11. März führen wir auch exklusiv Torrente 4 zum ersten Mal in 3D auf. Außerdem kosten die Eintrittskarten für 3D-Filme

im März nur 5 €, wenn man einen Flyer vorlegt, und darüber hinaus erhält man den Zuschlag für 2.50 und die Brille für 1.-Euro, wenn man sie nicht schon hat. Luis, das Kinopublikum hat sowohl im Zentrum als auch in den Vorführungssälen bemerkt, dass es viel sauberer geworden ist.... Ja, seit ich den Betrieb leite, ist es mir sehr wichtig, dass die Säle im Hinblick auf Hygiene und Geruch in perfektem Zustand sind. Es freut mich, dass diese Veränderung bemerkt wurde, für die ich mich verantwortlich fühle. Wir sind zuversichtlich, dass wir dank all dieser Maßnahmen sowohl von der besseren Instandhaltung der Säle als auch vom technischen Fortschritt profitieren werden.

La XXII Feria del Libro de Fuerteventura se celebrará del 17 al 20 de marzo FMHOY - Fuerteventura El Cabildo de Fuerteventura, desde la Consejería de Cultura y Patrimonio Histórico que dirige Genara Ruiz, organiza la XXII Feria del Libro de Fuerteventura 2011, cuya celebración esta prevista entre los días 17 y 20 de marzo, en esta ocasión bajo el epígrafe Cofete Paisaje Inspiración. Como en anteriores ediciones, la Feria se celebrará en el Centro Bibliotecario Insular, aunque la programación se extenderá también al resto de los municipios de la Isla a través de diferentes actividades. El programa incluirá maratón de lectura, encuentros con escritores, conferencias, presentaciones de libros, actuaciones teatrales, cuentacuentos y otros espectáculos, teniendo como objetivo común facilitar el acercamiento entre el libro, el escritor y los lectores, y promocionar la lectura, sobre todo en aquellos que aún no han descubierto el placer de leer. El pregón de este año correrá a cargo de Juan Pedro Martín Luzardo autor de los libros Orígenes de la Propiedad en la Península de Jandía y Bienes comunales en Fuerteventura.

La Red de Museos de Fuerteventura incrementa un 30% sus visitas FMHOY - Fuerteventura La Red de Museos de Fuerteventura, dependiente del Cabildo de Fuerteventura, se ha consolidado como una fuerte alternativa frente turismo de sol y playa. Los datos publicados respecto a las visitas recibidas durante el año 2010, revelan un crecimiento de un 31,92% en relación al año anterior. La Corporación insular ha confirmado que, en 2010, 282.114 personas visitaron alguno de los espacios que conforman la oferta cultural de la isla de Fuerteventura. 14 ESPACIOS La Red Insular de Centros y Museos está integrada, en la actualidad, por un total de 14 complejos distribuidos por los seis municipios de la isla. En Antigua se encuentra el Molino de Antigua, el Museo de la Sal y el Poblado Aborigen de la Atalayita. En Puerto del Rosario se ubica el Ecomuseo de la Alcogida, el Merendero de Felipito, la Casa Museo Unamuno y la Casa Museo del Doctor Mena.

Si nos trasladamos a Pájara, allí encontramos el Faro de Jandía; en Betancuria, el Mirador de Morro Velosa y el Museo Arqueológico de Betancuria. Por último, en La Oliva están las Cuevas del Llano, el Museo del Grano la Cilla y el Museo de la Pesca Tradicional del Faro del Tostón. “GOZA DE BUENA SALUD” El lugar favorito de los visitantes fue, sin duda, el Mirador de Morro Velosa, desde donde pudieron disfrutar de las vistas al Parque Rural de Betancuria. Por allí pasaron 5.891 personas, el 30% del total de los visitantes. Este solo es un ejemplo de “la buena salud de la que viene gozando la Red de Museos en los últimos años”, tal como afirma la consejera de la Red Insular de Museos, Candelaria Umpiérrez. Para Candelaria, “la Red de Museos ha supuesto una apuesta clara por dar a conocer” la identidad de los canarios, “nuestras costumbres y, en definitiva, nuestra cultura a las personas que nos visitan”.

“Las campañas desarrolladas alrededor de la Red de Museos han dado buenos resultados, pese a las dificultades que viene experimentando el sector turístico a todos los niveles. Es destacable que los meses de enero de los últimos años hemos venido mejorando el número de visitas en un 34 por ciento en 2008, un 17 por ciento en 2009, y un ahora un 14 por ciento en 2010”, concluyó. Un buen comienzo La Red Insular de Centros y Museos de Fuerteventura empezó el 2011 con buen pie. En enero, el número de visitantes creció un 14 % con respecto a las cifras del mismo mes del año anterior, según informó el Cabildo insular. Los 18.701 visitantes del mes de enero apostaron, principalmente, por el Mirador de Morro Velosa (6.243 visitas), el Faro de la Punta de Jandía (2.495 visitas), el Molino de Antigua (1.518 visitas) y el Ecomuseo de La Alcogida (953 visitas).

La Red, compuesta por 14 espacios, ha recibido la visita de 282.114 personas en una tendencia claramente ascendente.

The figures published concerning 2010 visits show a 31,92% increase compared to the previous year. The island’s Corporation has confirmed that in 2010, 282 114 people visited Fuerteventura’s cultural sites. 14 SITES The Island’s Museums Network currently consists of 14 sites spread over the island’s six municipalities. Antigua’s Windmill, the Salt Museum and La Atalayita’s Aboriginal settlement are situated in Antigua. Moving on to Pájara, we find Jandía’s lighthouse; in Betancuria: the Mirador de Morro Velosa and Betancuria’s Archaeological Museum. Finally, in La Oliva there are Llano caves, La Cilla Grain Museum (Museo del Grano la Cilla) and the Traditional Fishing Museum of el Tóston Lighthouse. “GLOWING WITH GOOD HEALTH” Visitor’s favourite site was undoubtedly the Mirador of Morro Velosa, from where they were able to enjoy the views of Betancuria’s Rural Park. 5 891 people stopped there, which is 30% of visitors in total. This is just one example of “how the Museums Network has been glowing with good health over the past few years”, confirms the Island’s Museums Network Councillor, Candelaria Umpiérrez. Candelaria adds that “the Museums Network represents a definite tool to teach visitors about” the Canarian’s identity, “our customs and our culture”. “Campaigns developed around the Museums Network have generated good results, despite the difficulties that the tourism sector has experienced at all levels. The visits received during the month of January have definitely been improving over the past few years with 34% in 2008, 17% in 2009 and 14% in 2010”, she concluded.

A GOOD START Fuerteventura’s Museum Network started 2011 on a good note. In January the visits increased by 14% compared to last years figures or that same month, according to the Island’s Cabildo.

In January, 18 701 visitors mainly visited the Mirador of Morro Velosa (6 243 visits), the Lighthouse of Punta de Jandía (2 495 visits), Antigua’s Windmill (1 518 visits) and La Alcogida’s Ecomuseum (953 visits).

The Museums Network, that consists of 14 sites, has received visits from 282 114 persons which shows a definite increase.

Das Museumsnetz von Fuerteventura verzeichnet 30% mehr Besucher FMHOY - Fuerteventura Das Museumsnetz von Fuerteventura, das dem Cabildo von Fuerteventura unterstellt ist, hat sich als starke Alternative zum Sonne-und-Strand-Tourismus konsolidiert. Aus den Daten, die über die Besucherzahl im Jahr 2010 veröffentlicht wurden, geht ein Wachstum um 31,92% im Vergleich zum Vorjahr hervor. Die Inselregierung hat bestätigt, dass im Jahr 2010, 282.114 Personen eine der Einrichtungen besucht haben, welche das kulturelle Angebot der Insel Fuerteventura bilden. 14 EINRICHTUNGEN Heute besteht das Inselnetz der Sehenswürdigkeiten und Museen aus insgesamt 14 Komplexen, die sich in den sechs Gemeinden der Insel befinden. In Antigua sind die Mühle von Antigua, das Salzmuseum und Ureinwohnerdorf in Atalayita. In Puerto del Rosario befinden sich das Ökomuseum von La Alcogida, der Rastplatz Felipito, das Unanmuno Museum und das Dr. Mena Museum. Wenn wir uns nach Pájara begeben, stoßen wir auf den Leuchtturm von Jandía; in Betancuria dagegen finden wir den Aussichtspunkt Mirador de Morro Velosa und das archäologische Museum von Betancuria. Und in La Oliva befinden sich die Cuevas del Llano, das Getreidemuseum La Cilla und das Museum für traditionelle Fischerei im Leuchtturm Faro del Tostón. “ES LÄUFT GUT” Der Hauptanziehungspunkt für die Besucher war zweifellos der Aussichtspunkt Mirador de Morro Velosa, von wo aus sie einen Blick auf den Landpark von Betancuria hatten. The Macaronesia Biosphere Reserves initiate projects against climate changes The research and projects concerning climate changes and their consequence, species in danger of extinction, Studies for the improvement of livestock and agriculture farming and the development of renewable energy projects will be the focus of the initiative coordinated by RedBIOS along the next few years, as per what was agreed during the ninth edition of the Macaronesia and East Atlantic Biosphere Reserve meeting held in February in Costa Calma. The Network of East Atlantic Biosphere Reserve (REDBIOS) is a Network concentrated on Biosphere Reserve or Project for Biosphere Reserves of UNESCO’s MaB Programme. This network was created in 2000 in order to establish cooperation and exchange of experiences between the area’s biosphere reserves. This includes the Biospheres of the Canaries Archipelago (Spain), Madeira and Azores (Portugal) and Cape Verde, as well as those of Mauritania, Morocco, Senegal and Guinea Bissau and that of Intercontinental del Mediterraneo (Spain-Andalucía/ Morocco). REDBIOS currently consists of 16 Biosphere Reserves included within the frontiers of Senegal and Mauritania and the Intercontinental Reserve of the Mediterranean, between Spain and Morocco. Work days included the presentation of projects for the declaration of Biosphere Reserves for Tenerife and La Gomera, as well as actions that are being developed amongst other members. “There is an agreement to promote joint initiatives concerning international projects for renewable energies, support for developing countries and exchange of experiences for projects of protection of species in danger of extinction within the same geographic area. The most important is that this meeting will be useful to coordinate projects concerning those joint initiatives and concerning local and national authorities”, explained Fuerteventura’s Cabildo’s Environment Councillor, Natalia Évora.

Das Netz der Biosphärenreservate des nordöstlichen Atlantik (REDBIOS) ist ein thematisches Netz der Biosphärenreservate und der Projekte der Biosphärenreservate des Programms MaB der UNESCO. Im Laufe der Tagung wurden auch die Projekte präsentiert, mit denen beabsichtigt wird, Teneriffa und La Gomera als Biosphärenreservate anerkennen zu lassen; dazu kommen auch noch die Aktionen, die von den übrigen Mitgliedern durchgeführt werden. “Es gibt ein Abkommen, um auf internationaler Ebene gemeinsame Initiativen zu fördern, die mit den erneuerbaren Energien, der Unterstützung von Entwicklungsländern und dem Austausch von Erfahrungen bei Projekten für den Erhalt der vom Aussterben bedrohten Arten in der gleichen geografischen Zone zu tun haben. Das wichtigste ist, dass dieses Treffen nutzen wird, um uns bei den nationalen und örtlichen Behörden gemeinsam für die gleichen Ziele einzusetzen”, erklärte die Beauftragte für Umwelt des Cabildo von Fuerteventura, Natalia Évora.

Vestigios de la forma de vida de Fuerteventura desde la época aborigen El yacimiento de Llano del Sombrero en Betancuria podría convertirse en una las áreas arqueológicas más importantes de Fuerteventura, de confirmarse las primeras teorías y estudios previos, que apuntan a un uso continuado de la zona desde la época aborigen a la actualidad, siempre con la ganadería como constante, y que lo asocia además a los primeros pobladores europeos y lo relaciona con el que probablemente haya sido además la primera vía de comunicación de los conquistadores normandos del siglo XV con el interior de la Isla. La arqueóloga que dirige el proyecto de excavaciones Rosa López, explicó que “buscamos confirmar teorías e hipótesis previas, pero a priori se trata de un área muy interesante por su emplazamiento y por su uso continuado durante siglos, ya que actualmente incluso son utilizadas por los ganaderos en las apañadas. Hay estructuras circulares en un número importante y algunas cuadrangulares que estudiaremos para tratar de confirmar o descarta la posibilidad de que incluso tuvieran fines funerarios. El número de estructuras y su distribución nos habla incluso de la posibilidad de que el área acogerá varios núcleos poblacionales”, apuntó. El yacimiento del Llano del Sombrero está ubicado en un lugar singular, por su cercanía al mar, de manera que sus habitantes pudieran aprovecharse de los productos marinos para su dieta; pero además a ambos lados cuenta con barrancos que proporcionaban agua potable, todo ello compatibilizado con la actividad ganadera, de la que quedan abundantes restos y estructuras, e incluso la posibilidad del complemento dietéticos con la recolección en los alrededores, ya que se trata de una zona de medianías abierta a Barlovento. Junto a ella discurre el camino de Betancuria, que probablemente fue la primera vía de comunicación utilizada por los conquistadores normandos, y está muy cerca además del límite del mancomún en el que permanecía suelto el ganado. Trayectoria Esta intervención está relacionada con el trabajo emprendido desde el año 2008, llevando a cabo diversas actuaciones arqueológicas en diferentes yacimientos de Fuerteventura que han permitido ampliar la documentación arqueológica de los mismos. Estos trabajos incluyeron la realización de diez sondeos en distintos emplazamientos de la isla, dos de los cuales se llevaron a cabo en el yacimiento arqueológico “Llano del sombrero” en 2009. A partir de ello se planteó esta segunda fase de ejecución en la que se llevará a cabo una intervención arqueológica tipo sondeo centrada únicamente en este yacimiento, con el fin de ahondar en una zona que puede aportar datos de interés acerca de la evolución histórica de este sector. Objetivo El principal objetivo es ampliar el conocimiento existente en la actualidad del yacimiento, que constituye uno de los mejor conservados y menos conocidos de la isla. Debido a las características del entorno natural en el que se enclava, entre dos barrancos y muy cercano a la costa; y las características del propio yacimiento, sus dimensiones y la gran cantidad de material que se observar en superficie, pudo tratarse de un asentamiento prehispánico de gran entidad, utilizado luego por los primeros pobladores europeos. DESCRIPCIÓN DEL YACIMIENTO El yacimiento de Llano del Sombrero se encuentra ubicado en la costa del término municipal de Betancuria, en un sector compuesto por suelos marrones encalichados y afloramientos rocosos y litosoles en régimen de humedad arídico en los que predomina los matorrales de aulagas, matos y tarajaledas. Se extiende prácticamente en llano, en un área

de dos kilómetros de longitud por uno de ancho, en toda la zona denominada Llano del Sombrero. Está formado por más de treinta estructuras en su mayoría de planta circular de diferente tamaño, ya que los diámetros oscilan entre 10 y 40. A pesar de que la zona en la que parece existir un mayor volumen de restos y materiales en superficie también es el sector más remodelado y reutilizado ya que en la actualidad los ganaderos aún siguen utilizando algunas de estas gambuesas. La intervención se centrará en el sector noreste del yacimiento, que se cree mantiene su riqueza arqueológica y presenta menos remodelaciones posteriores. En el sector objeto de estudio se puede encontrar un corral de mayores dimensiones, al que se le adosan otros menores y algunos espacios de planta circular que por la densidad de material pudieron presentar una funcionalidad habitacional. Las estructuras murarías se encuentran en buen estado de conservación, superando en muchos casos el metro de alzado y en superficie se documenta abundante material constructivo fruto del derrumbe de los propios muros y posibles techos. Así mismo, en superficie aún se observan abundantes restos materiales tanto de cerámica aborigen como de malacofauna y lítico que necesita de un estudio en profundidad. TRABAJOS DE CAMPO Para esta fase se han planteado tres sondeos, dos de ellos en las estructuras del sector noreste descritas anteriormente y otro más en unas estructuras que se documentan en la ladera norte del yacimiento. Tanto con el Sondeo A como el B, el objetivo principal es definir las posibles fases del yacimiento ya que en ambos se aprecia como las estructuras probablemente aborígenes han sido reutilizadas posteriormente. Mientras que el Sondeo A se sitúa en una de las estancias con muros mejor conservados, el Sondeo B se ubica en la que se cree puede constituir la entrada principal a los espacios, a juzgar por las estructuras visibles aún en la actualidad. Por su parte, el Sondeo C ha sido planteado en

el interior de una estructura de planta rectangular situada en la ladera norte del yacimiento. Llama la atención que en esta zona se concentren pequeños espacios más o menos cercanos entre así y no demasiado alejado del edificio donde se realizaran los sondeos A y B. Uso funerario Esta zona pudo adquirir en origen un uso distinto al edificio anterior que quizá pudieran corresponder a un uso funerario. Por ello, se plantea sumamente interesante la realización de este último sondeo. El objeto de su realización es, por tanto, comprobar o desestimar la existencia de enterramientos en esta zona, aspecto más que interesante si tenemos en cuenta el gran desconocimiento que sobre este tema se tiene por el momento en la isla. Su excavación se realizará manualmente mediante niveles estratigráficos caracterizados según composición, materiales asociados, etc. que permitan reconstruir la secuencia de ocupación de este sector. La profundidad que alcanzarán los sondeos será la necesaria hasta agotar la secuencia arqueológica, es decir, hasta nivel geológico y, por tanto, la inexistencia de niveles antrópicos. De cada uno de ellos, se recogerán todos aquellos restos materiales asociados a dichos estratos que nos permitan definir su uso y cronología y una vez finalizada la documentación completa de los sondeos se procederá a la protección cautelar del registro detectado mediante los medios que se estimen oportunos en cada sondeo. Excavación La excavación se realizará manualmente mediante niveles estratigráficos. Con ello, se analizarán los procesos de sedimentación, siendo considerados como un conjunto de modelos naturales de erosión y depósito entrelazados con alteraciones del paisaje originadas por el factor antrópico. Por tanto, se individualizará cada sedimento o nivel con un número de referencia describiéndose mediante la distinción de criterios (color, textura, consistencia, composición, dureza...) que quedarán convenientemente recogidos en una ficha individualizada.

Aboriginal remains in Fuerteventura The site of Llanos del Sombrero in Betancuria could become one of the most important archaeological sites in Fuerteventura, as the first theories and studies get confirmed, which indicate that the area was continuously used since aboriginal times until now. It was always used for livestock, and this also associates it to the first European settlers and means that it was probably the first communication path of the Norman conquerors in the 15th century towards the centre of the island. Rosa López, the archaeologist who manages the digging project explained that “they are aiming to confirm existing theories and hypothesis, but a priori this is a very interesting area for its situation and because it was continuously used during centuries, and is still being used now by livestock farmers to round up their herds. There are many circular structures and some quadrangular ones which we will study in order to confirm or disregard the possibility that those also were used for funerary purposes. The number of structures and their distribution also includes the possibility that the area was used by various villages”. The site of Llano del Sombrero is situated in a peculiar place, because of its closeness to the shore, which means that habitants could add marine products in their diet; but also because it is situated between two barrancos that provided drinking water, which is all combined with a livestock activity, of which remain many structures, including the possibility of dietary complements with picking in the surrounding area as this is quite an open area towards Barlovento. The path to Betancuria goes along the site which is probably the first communication path used by Norman conquerors. Trajectory This project is related to the work that has been carried out since 2008, which has initiated various archaeological projects in various sites of Fuerteventura, and increased their archaeological documentation. Those initiatives included ten digs in various sites of the island, two of which were carried out in the archaeological site of “Llano del Sombrero” in 2009. This is when the second phase of the project was suggested which will include an archaeological intervention that consists of digs purely in this site in order to look in depth into one area that can bring interesting data concerning the evolution of this area in history. Objective The main objective is to increase the existing knowledge about this site which is one of the best preserved and little known site of the island. Because of the characteristics of the natural environment where it is situated, between two barrancos and close to the shore; and the characteristics of the site itself, its size and the great quantity of material that it contains, we are dealing with a pre-hispanic site of great potential, which was later used by the first European settlers. DESCRIPTION OF THE SITE The archaeological site of Llano del Sombrero is situated on the coast of the municipality of Betancuria, in an area that consists of brown levelled out soil and rocky surface and topsoil with aridic moisture regime where we find mainly gorse bush, matos and tarajaledas. It extends in a flat band on a two kilometre long and one metre wide area in the whole area called Llano del Sombrero. It consists of over thirty structures of various sizes which are mainly circular in shape. Despite the fact that there seems to be a large quantity of remains and material on the surface of the area it is also the most redesigned and reused area as livestock farmers still use some of those structures to round up their herds. The search will mostly take place in the North East area of the site, which is believed to be rich in archaeological remains and has not been redesigned

as much. There is a larger corral in the area that is being studied to which other smaller corrals are attached as well as circular areas that may have been used as accommodation because of the density of materials found in the remains. The remaining walls are quite well preserved and in most cases are over one meter in height and there are large quantities of material that are remains of walls and roof structures. There are large quantities of materials on the surface such as aboriginal ceramics as well as other of malacofauna and litico kind that must be studied in depth. WORK IN THE FIELD This phase will consist of three searches, of which two are in the North East structures described previously and the third one in the structures found of the North hillside of the site. The first two searches (A and B) aim at defining the possible phases of the site as both look like aboriginal structures that were later reused. While search A takes place within a structure with better preserved walls, search B is carried out in a space that could be the main entrance to those spaces, judging by the structures that can still be seen now. On the other hand, search C takes place within a rectangular structure situated in the North hillside of the site. There are some small areas rather close to one another which are not far from the building of

searches A and B. Funerary use Originally this area may have had a different use that could be funerary use. This last search is therefore quite interesting. It aims to confirm or reject the existence of burials in this area which is an interesting aspect if we take into account the lack of knowledge around this theme on the island. Spuren des Lebens aus der Zeit der Ureinwohner auf Fuerteventura Die Fundstelle in Llano del Sombrero, Betancuria, könnte zu einer der bedeutendsten archäologischen Zonen von Fuerteventura werden, falls die ersten Theorien und Untersuchungen bestätigt werden sollten, nach denen diese Gegend von der Zeit der Ureinwohner bis heute immer für die Viehzucht verwendet wurde. Es wird außerdem vermutet, dass diese auch von den ersten europäischen Siedlern genutzt wurden und dass hier wahrscheinlich für die normannischen Eroberer im XV. Jahrhundert der Verbindungsweg ins Binnenland der Insel war. Die Archäologin, die dieses Projekt leitet, Rosa López, erklärte: “Wir versuchen die die vorhergehenden Theorien und Hypothesen zu bestätigen, aber diese Gegend ist auf jeden Fall wegen ihrer Lage sehr interessant, und weil sie über Jahrhunderte genutzt wurde. Sogar heute führen die Viehzüchter in dieser Gegend ihre Apañadas durch. Es gibt viele kreisförmige und einige viereckige Strukturen, die wir untersuchen werden, um herauszufinden, ob diese für Beerdingungen geschaffen worden waren. Aufgrund der Zahl dieser Strukturen und ihrer Verteilung auf dem Gelände ist es sogar möglich, dass es hier mehrere bewohnte Siedlungen gab”, erklärte sie. Die archäologische Fundstelle von Llano del Sombrero befindet sich an einem einzigartigen Ort, da sie so nah am Meer liegt, dass die Bewohner Fisch und Meeresfrüchte als Nahrung nutzen konnten; außerdem sind an beiden Seiten Schluchten, aus denen die Einwohner Trinkwasser bekamen. Dazu kam die Viehzucht, von der es zahlreiche Zeugnisse und Strukturen gibt. Es ist sogar möglich, dass die Ureinwohner einen Teil ihrer Nahrung in der Umgebung sammelten. Dort befindet sich der Weg nach Betancuria, der wahrscheinlich der erste Verbindungsweg war, die von den normannischen Eroberern genutzt wurde und sich ganz in der Nähe der Grenze des gemeinschaftlichen Weidelandes für das Vieh befand. Geschichte des Projekts Dieses Vorhaben hat mit den im Jahr 2008 begonnen Arbeiten zu tun. Zu diesem Projekt gehören mehrere Arbeiten an verschiedenen archäologischen Fundstellen auf Fuerteventura, die dazu beigetragen haben, dass die Dokumentation über diese Fundstellen selbst erweitert werden konnte. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeiten wurden zehn Untersuchungen an verschiedenen Orten der Insel gemacht. Zwei davon wurden 2009 in der archäologischen Fundstelle “Llano del sombrero” durchgeführt. Danach soll diese zweite Phase durchgeführt werden, in der eine archäologische Untersuchung über diese Fundstelle vorgenommen wird, um in einer Zone Ausgrabungen zu machen, in der es interessante Daten über die historische Evolution dieses Sektors geben kann. Zweck Mit diesem Projekt wird vor allem beabsichtigt, das Wissen über diese Fundstelle zu erweitern, die zu den am besten erhaltenen und die wegen ihrer Lage auch zu den am wenigsten erforschten Fundstellen der Insel gehört. Wegen ihrer Lage - sie liegt zwischen zwei Schluchten in der Nähe der Küste - und der Beschaffenheit der Fundstelle selbst, ihren Umfängen und der Menge an Material, das man auf diesem Gelände findet, könnte es sich um eine große Siedlung aus der Zeit vor der Kolonialisierung durch die Spanier handeln, die später von den ersten europäischen Siedlern benutzt wurde. BESCHREIBUNG DER FUNDSTELLE Die Fundstelle von Llano del Sombrero liegt an der Küste am Rand der Gemeinde von Betancuria, in einer Gegend mit braunen Böden und Felsvorsprüngen und feuchten Litosolen, in denen das Dickicht mit Ginster, Gebüsch und Tamarisken vorherrschend ist. Das Gebiet dehnt sich auf einem flachen, zwei Ki-

lometer langen Grundstück aus, das in der Gegend Llano del Sombrero genannt wird. Dort gibt es mehr als dreißig Strukturen, von denen die meisten aus einem runden Geschoss unterschiedlicher Größe bestehen; ihre Durchmesser sind zwischen 10 und 40 m groß. Obwohl es scheint, dass es in dieser Gegend die meisten Überreste und Strukturen gibt, ist es auch das Gebiet, das am häufigsten umgestaltet und wieder verwendet wurde, und noch heute nutzen die Viehzüchter einige dieser Gambuesas. Das Projekt wird im nordöstlichen Teil der Fundstelle durchgeführt, weil man davon ausgeht, dass hier der archäologische Reichtum am besten erhalten ist und weil dort weniger Umgestaltungen stattgefunden haben. In dem zu untersuchenden Bereich findet man einen großen Hof, an den drei kleinere angebaut sind; dazu kommen einige runde Räume, die möglicherweise Wohnräume waren. Für diese Vermutung spricht, dass das Material sehr dick ist. Die Strukturen der Mauern sind gut erhalten, und viele von diesen sind mehr als einen Meter hoch. Auf dem Grundstück gibt es viel Baumaterial, das aus eingestürzten Mauern und vermutlich auch von Dächern stammt. Man findet dort ebenfalls Reste von einheimischer Keramik sowie von Malakofauna und Steinen, welche ausgiebig untersucht werden müssen. ARBEITEN AUF DEM FELD Für diese Phase wurden drei Untersuchungen geplant, zwei davon in den Strukturen im nordöstlichen Bereich des Geländes, die schon beschrieben wurden, und eine weitere der Strukturen am Abhang im Norden der Fundstätte. Sowohl mit der Untersuchung A als auch mit der Untersuchung B wird vor allem beabsichtigt, die möglichen Phasen der Fundstätte zu definieren, denn in beiden wird untersucht, wie die Strukturen, die wahrscheinlich von den Ureinwohnern stammen, später wieder verwendet wurden. Während die Untersuchung A in einem der Räume durchgeführt wird, deren Mauern am besten erhalten sind, wird die Untersuchung B dort ausgeführt, wo man wegen der Strukturen, die man noch heute dort

sieht, vermutet, dass dort einmal der Haupteingang gewesen ist. Die Untersuchung C dagegen ist im Innern einer rechteckigen Struktur im Norden der Fundstelle geplant. Es ist bemerkenswert, dass es dort mehrere kleine Räume gibt, die mehr oder weniger nah bei einander liegen und auch nicht sehr weit von dem Gebäude weg sind, in dem die Untersuchungen A und B durchgeführt werden. Grabstätten Dieser Bereich wurde möglicherweise für einen anderen Zweck verwendet als das vorherige Gebäude; wahrscheinlich als Grabstätten. Aus diesem Grund wird diese letzte Untersuchung als äußerst interessant bezeichnet. Mit dieser Untersuchung wird beabsichtigt, festzustellen, ob es in dieser Gegend wirklich Gräber gibt oder nicht. Dies ist die interessanteste Frage, wenn wir in Betracht ziehen, dass zurzeit auf der Insel sehr wenig über dieses Thema bekannt ist. Die Ausgrabungen werden manuell durchgeführt, mit stratigraphischen Ebenen, durch die ermöglicht wird, zu rekonstruieren, zu welchem Zweck dieser Bereich zu welcher Zeit verwendet wurde. Es ist notwendig so weit in die Tiefe zu gehen, bis die ganze archäologische Sequenz zum Vorschein kommt, das heißt bis in die geologische Tiefe. Aus jeder dieser Schichten werden alle Überreste entnommen; dann wird untersucht, wofür sie verwendet wurden und aus welcher Zeit sie stammen. Wenn die vollständige Dokumentation über die Untersuchungen fertig ist, wird man in dem Maße, wie die Untersuchungen es für angebracht erscheinen lässt, fortfahren, den registrierten Bestand zu schützen. Ausgrabung Bei den Ausgrabungen werden die Sedimentationsprozesse untersucht. Man betrachtet sie als natürlichen Modelle für die Veränderung der ursprünglichen Landschaft durch Erosion und Ablagerung , die vom anthropischen Faktor verursacht wurden. Deshalb wird jedes Sediment mit einer Referenznummer versehen und nach verschiedenen Kriterien beschrieben (Farbe, Textur, Konsistenz, Zusammensetzung, Härte...), die in einer individuellen Registerkarte aufgeführt werden.

“El cultivo de la criada tiene un futuro y una demanda muy importante” Antes de comenzar la entrevista con Mario Honrubia, biólogo de la Universidad de Murcia intentaremos hacer un breve resumen de la importancia del hongo criada en Fuerteventura. Las criadas son hongos hipogeos del genero terfezia también llamadas trufas del desierto. Se dan en la raíces de la planta, el turmero (Helianthemum Canariense). Muy apreciadas en la gastronomía majorera, se pueden encontrar en toda la isla, tanto en los terrenos arcillosos como en los jables. La época tradicional de recolección comienza en primavera aunque cada vez se va adelantando más, sobre todo en los jables donde maduran antes. Este tipo de hongos, también llamados en la antigüedad equívocamente “trufa blanca”, son propios de las zonas semiáridas de todo el Mediterráneo, aunque también se encuentran en países como China, Hungría, Irak, Kuwait, Península Arábiga, y

en toda Canarias. En casi todos estos lugares estos hongos son muy apreciados y su recolección y venta es habitual y muy demandada. Por este motivo GDR Maxorata, junto con otras comunidades participa en el proyecto MICODES, que pretende impulsar la mejora económica y social, con una estrategia de valorización de los recursos micológicos, que en Fuerteventura son las criadas, tan abundantes en la isla. Desde el pasado mes de junio del 2010, está en marcha un proyecto piloto, para reproducir la criada de manera controlada. Con este fin se han plantado 2000 plantas de turmero, que han sido previamente inoculadas, con las esporas del hongo de la criada, mediante un proceso llevado a cabo en los laboratorios del Departamento de Biología Vegetal de la Universidad de Murcia. El biólogo Mario Honrubia, ha estado en Fuerteventura para visitar estas plantaciones experimentales y reunirse con los agricultores de la isla en un encuen-

tro al que también asistieron la consejera de Medio Ambiente y Agricultura, Natalia Évora, y el gerente de GDR Maxorata, Cristóbal David de Vera. ¿Cuando comenzó la negociación de este proyecto?. La gestión de este proyecto comenzó en el año 2009, junto con distintos grupos de desarrollo rural de la península. Comenzamos las conversaciones con David Vera y se vio la posibilidad de participar en el proyecto MICODES, y hemos tenido un año y medio para preparar las plantas, devolverlas a Fuerteventura, y ahora ver cómo van resultando. ¿Cómo se inoculan estas plantas? Es a través de un proceso biotecnológico, establecemos el hongo dentro de la raíz y desde la semilla hasta que puede salir al campo, el tiempo que pasa debe estar alrededor de unos seis meses. Después de este periodo tenemos una garantía de supervivencia. Y ya en el campo, ¿cuánto tiempo necesitará para poder ser recolectado? Puede variar, pero de media general debemos pensar en unos dos años. ¿Y siempre tendrán que ser las plantas inoculadas de nuevo, o se regeneran por sí solas? Efectivamente, se regeneran. Es una planta que tiene una vida de unos 20 años, pero produce mucha semilla y todas esas semillitas, al caer a la tierra que ya está contaminada con el hongo se autoinoculan y el sistema se va automanteniendo. ¿Esta idea pionera donde nació? Surgió en mi grupo de investigación de Micología

Micoriza, de la Universidad de Murcia. A partir de este grupo hemos creado una empresa de base tecnológica, que al surgir de un centro de investigación, se les denomina spin-of. Ya tiene una experiencia importante, tras 11 años de trabajo…. Sí, y además de estos once años, los muchos anteriores de trabajo y estudios previos para llegar a esto. ¿Está contento con los éxitos conseguidos? Sí, es mucho el trabajo que llevamos realizado, pero son muchos los éxitos conseguidos. ¿Qué significa MICODES? Es el acrónimo de proyecto de desarrollo rural micología, conservación y desarrollo. En los seis grupos de la península y el séptimo que es Fuerteventura, se han hecho plantaciones que están saliendo adelante con mucho éxito. MICODES, ¿abarca más comunidades? ¿Puede hablarnos de otros tipos de proyectos parecidos en más lugares? MICODES tiene unas 20 plantaciones en siete lugares, todas en producción ya activa. Las primeras ya han tenido sus respectivas cosechas al año y las más tardías esperamos que sean al cabo de dos años. Por lo que esperamos que la primera recolección aquí sea para el año 2012. Entonces estos avances tecno-biológicos han hecho posible una producción controlada, que hasta ahora estaba sujeta un poco a la casualidad, ¿Correcto?. Esto es el inicio de un cultivo que antes no existía y que tiene un futuro y una demanda muy importante.

LAS MURGAS Y COMPARSAS RECIBEN LA VISITA SORPRESA DEL ALCALDE

Desde hace unos pocos años, el alcalde del Ayuntamiento de Antigua, Gustavo Berriel y la concejal de Festejos, María Peña Cruz, visitan los ensayos de las tres murgas y dos comparsas que hay en el municipio, saludando a todos los murgueros y haciéndoles entrega de un obsequio, dulce o bebida que de normal se comparte en el momento. Alcalde y Concejal son recibidos con chanzas sobre lo que les viene encima, y los murgueros entre las letras eligen las estrofas que pueden cantarles, sin descubrir lo más jugoso, sólo para ir abriendo boca. Todas las murgas de Antigua crecen en número de componentes y desde la más joven como los Majochichas formada hace tres años, a los que retoman una larga trayectoria como los Cachivaches, o continúan dando guerra como los Garabato, junto a las comparsa Nueva Samba o los Alegres Reformados del Centro de Mayores, “mantienen una carrera contra reloj cosiendo trajes, memorizando letras y bailes, y ensayando cada tarde en la cuenta atrás de los escasos siete días que les queda para tenerlo todo preparado”, concluye la concejal María Peña Cruz.

THE MURGAS AND COMPARSAS GET A SURPRISE VISIT FROM THE MAYOR

Over the past few years, Antigua’s Ayuntamiento’s Mayor, Gustavo Berriel and the Festivities’ Councillor, María Peña Cruz, have attended some of the rehearsals of the Municipality’s three Murgas and two Comparsas (bands of street musicians and singers). They saluted all the musicians and gave them a small present, cake or drink that they normally share in this occasion. The Mayor and the Councillor were welcomed with jokes about what was expecting them, and the musicians chose verses they could sing without revealing the best, just enough to wet their appetite. All the Street Bands from Antigua are growing in members’ numbers, from the youngest ones such as the Majochichas created three years ago, to those who have already had a long trajectory such as Los Cachivaches, or keep on fighting like Los Garabato, together with the Comparsa Nueva Samba or Los Alegres Reformados of the Elders Centre, “who keep young by sowing costumes, memorising songs and dances, and rehearsing every night during this short seven day countdown in order to get everything ready”, concludes the Councillor María Peña Cruz.

Sie begrüßen alle Mitglieder dieser Gruppen und bringen ihnen Süßigkeiten oder Getränke mit, die normalerweise geteilt werden. Der Bürgermeister und die Beauftragte für Feste wurden mit Witzen empfangen, die davon handelten, was noch auf sie zu kommt. Die Straßenmusikanten suchten eine Strophe aus, die sie ihnen vorsingen konnten, ohne das schärfste zu verraten. Sie taten das nur, um ein bisschen den Mund aufzumachen. Alle Musikgruppen aus Antigua haben inzwischen mehr Mitglieder: Dies gilt für die neuesten Gruppen, die erst vor drei Jahren gegründet wurde, und für die traditionsreichen wie Cachivaches und die, die immer wieder provozieren wie Garabato, dazu kommen die Maskengruppe Nueva Samba oder Los Alegres Reformados des Seniorenzentrums. “Alle haben es eilig und tun ihr bestes, um Kostüme zu nähen, Lieder und Tänze zu lernen und jeden Nachmittag zu proben, denn sie haben nur noch sieben Tage, um alles vorzubereiten”, erzählt die Beauftragte für Feste, María Peña Cruz.

FINALIZA EL ALUMBRADO PÚBLICO DE LAS NUEVAS ACERAS DE LA ORILLA

El Ayuntamiento renueva al cien por cien la infraestructura de alumbrado público de la localidad de La Orilla. finalizando así dos proyectos de alumbrado público con una inversión final aproximada de 115.000 euros, que en La Orilla complementa la pavimentación de 3.000 metros de nuevas aceras en las calles Fuerteventura, Tenerife y La Gomera, proyecto en el que se invirtió 160.740,45 euros, y en La Corte el Proyecto finalizado de Alumbrado Público proporciona luz al nuevo Paseo que une esta localidad con el centro urbano de Antigua, y que supuso una inversión de 81.459,71 euros. Se han instalado 60 luminarias, entre pies y codos de farolas, dejando preparada la preinstalación para la prestación de otros servicios de suministro eléctrico o red de comunicaciones. The materials used are rust proof and resistant to meteorological interference. Street lights are also fitted with consumption reducing devices, anti-glare reflectors that ensure the light does get not dispersed and improve lighting efficiency. Public cables have completely been buried, thus eliminating all exterior cables, contributing to improving the look of the villages and their environment, as well as complying with the environmental norms and avoiding light contamination.

Die Gemeinde erneuert die Infrastruktur der Öffentlichen Beleuchtung des Ortes La Orilla vollständig, und schließt mit einer Investition von ungefähr 115.000 Euro zwei Projekte für die Erneuerung der öffentlichen Beleuchtung ab. Diese Arbeiten werden in La Orilla durch die Pflasterung von 3.000 Metern neuer Bürgersteige der Straßen von Fuerteventura, Teneriffa und La Gomera ergänzt. In dieses Projekt wurden 160.740,45 Euro investiert, und in La Corte wird im Rahmen dieses Projektes die Beleuchtung der neuen Promenade erreicht, die diesen Ort mit dem Stadtkern von Antigua verbindet; dafür wurden 81.459,71 Euro investiert. Es wurden insgesamt 60 Lichtquellen an den Straßenlaternen angebracht. Außerdem wurden die Installationen für weitere Dienste vorbereitet, die mit dem elektrischen Netz oder dem Kommunikationsnetz verbunden sind. Das verwendete Material ist rostfrei und wetterfest, außerdem wurden Energiesparlichter und blendfreie Reflektoren verwendet. Die öffentlichen Leitungen wurden vollständig eingegraben, so dass keine äußeren Kabel mehr vorhanden sind, was dazu führt, diese Ortschaften und ihre Umgebung zu verschönern; außerdem werden dadurch die Vorschriften zum Umweltschutz eingehalten, durch die Lichtverschmutzung verhindert werden soll.

A YOUNG ATHLETE FROM CORRALEJO BECOMES THE CADET RACEWALKING CHAMPION OF THE CANARIES

A young athlete from Corralejo, Sofía Elena Cardozo, won the Canaries’ Racewalking Championship that took place on 30th January in San Cristóbal de La Laguna. This event represents a great debut for this young Majorera athlete in the official athletics world, considering how she demonstrated her strength, resistance and good physical preparation over the length of this difficult athletic event. The starting gun shot was fired at 11 a.m. Sofía Cardozo achieved 29 minutes and 10 seconds to complete the 5 km distance on the closed 1km circuit, which gave her points for this championship and for her National average. On 6th March the young Majorera athlete will compete during the Spanish Championship that will take place in Valencia where she will compete against the best national athletes in her category.

Eine junge Athletin aus Corralejo, Sofía Elena Cardozo, gewann die kanarische Meisterschaft für Läufer, die am 30. Januar in San Cristóbal de La Laguna stattfand. Dieser Wettkampf war für die junge Athletin aus Fuerteventura ein tolles Debut in der offiziellen Athletik, denn die junge Läuferin aus Corralejo hat bei dieser schwierigen Disziplin der Athletik, ihre Kraft, ihre Ausdauer und ihr gutes Training bewiesen. Um 11 Uhr morgens fand der Startschuss für die 1 Kilometer lange geschlossene Laufstrecke statt. Sofía Cardozo schaffte es in 29 Minuten und 10 Sekunden, 5 Kilometer zurückzulegen. Am 6. März tritt die junge Athletin aus Fuerteventura bei der spanischen Meisterschaft in Valencia an, wo sie mit den besten Sportlern dieser Kategorie konkurrieren wird.

SE REPARTIERON 800 CORDONES EN LA FUNCIÓN RELIGIOSA

La entrega de cordones por San Blas congregó a numerosos vecinos en la iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, en La Oliva, quienes asistieron a la función religiosa en honor a San Blas que concluyó con la entrega de 800 cordones a los vecinos que formaron una cola para recogerlos. Si el día 2 de febrero se celebró la virgen de La Candelaria, en la que brillaron las candelas, un día después y con esta ceremonia por San Blas finalizan las fiestas del pueblo de La Oliva en 2011. Así, numerosos vecinos con sus hijos decidieron acercarse a la iglesia para recoger los cordones y celebrar a San Blas.

La tradición cuenta que el cordón recibido protegerá, como un símbolo, de los males en general, especialmente de las enfermedades de garganta. Dicho cordón se lleva colgado hasta el miércoles de ceniza, fecha en la que se quema y con las cenizas se hace una cruz en la frente.

A NEIGHBOUR FROM PARQUE HOLANDES WINS THE HALF MARATHON OF LAS PALMAS IN THE FEMININE 50 CATEGORY

The runner Mónica Gottardo, neighbour from Parque Holandes in La Oliva’s municipality, won the X Gran Canaria Half Marathon 2011 in the Feminine 50 Category. The Italian athlete also achieved third place in the 2010 Dunas de Corralejo Half Marathon when an old knee injury made her give up the lead for her closest rival. However, Mónica Gottardo managed to achieve second place in the 2010 Half Marathon of Arrecife (Lanzarote), a race which she competed alongside the best European athletes in her category.

800 STRINGS WERE DISTRIBUTED DURING THE RELIGIOUS CEREMONY

The distribution of San Blas strings attracted many neighbours in the church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, in La Oliva. They attended the religious ceremony in honour of San Blas which ended with the distribution of 800 strings. 2nd February marked the celebration of the Virgin of La Candelaria, when candles were lit up and one day later La Oliva’s 2011 celebrations ended with this ceremony in honour of San Blas. Many neighbours and their children therefore attended this ceremony to collect their string and celebrate San Blas. The tradition says that the string received, as a symbol, will bring protection in general and from throat diseases in particular. This string is worn until Ash Wednesday when it is then burned and a cross drawn on the forehead with its ash.

BEI DER MESSE WURDEN MEHR ALS 800 BÄNDER VERTEILT

Zahlreiche Bürger kamen zu der Verteilung der Bänder, die zum Fest des San Blas in der Kirche Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria in La Oliva gehört. Sie nahmen an der Messe zu Ehren des San Blas teil, nn deren Ende 800 Bänder an die Anwesenden verteilt wurden, die sich dafür angestellt hatten. Am zweiten Februar wurde die Virgen de La Candelaria gefeiert, zu deren Ehren Kerzen angezündet wurden. Am Tag danach wurde das Volksfest 2011 in La Oliva mit der Zeremonie für San Blas beendet. Aus diesem Grund kamen zahlreiche Anwohner in die Kirche, um die Bänder entgegenzunehmen und um San Blas zu ehren. Nach dem volkstümlichen Glauben ist dieses Band ein Symbol, das einen generell vor allem Übel schützt, aber vor allem vor Halsschmerzen. Dieses Band wird bis Mittwoch getragen, dann wird es verbrannt, und mit der Asche malt man sich ein Kreuz auf die Stirn.

The third Edition of the Pájara-Playas de Jandía Jable Raid will take place in the municipality of Pájara on 21st and 22nd October 2011. The final date change from Spring to Autumn is basically due to the necessity to avoid the bird nesting period in Jandía’s Natural Park. Considering the peculiarities of this stage of resistance hiking, which is part of the pioneering accessible sport and sustainable tourism concept, it is all about preserving the beauty of the event and of the environment at the same time, which is why the change of dates was unavoidable. The Jable Raid is an authentic Raid, however, it is also aimed at anyone able to walk who wishes to discover amazing landscapes along the Jandía Peninsula of the Majorero Island. Participants The event is open to participants who love walking tourism, hikers or enthusiasts of Nordic walking, whether they are beginners or with a higher level; it is also suitable to those who wish to run the race against the stopwatch. There are therefore three different categories: tourist trophy – with the shortest course, hiking and racing or running. Novelties in the course Despite the course being kept secret to all participants, as in any raid, until a few minutes before the first stage of the race; some details are known about the novelties that will be included in the 2011 Jable Raid, which will improve it on the beauty and on the selective side.

TERMINÄNDERUNG DES RAID JABLE

Der dritte Raid Jable Pájara-Playas de Jandía wird am 21. Und am 22. Oktober 2011 in der Gemeinde von Pájara stattfinden. Der Termin wurde vom Frühjahr auf den Herbst verlegt, damit die Veranstaltung nicht während der Nistzeit im Naturschutzgebiet von Jandía stattfindet. Wegen der Besonderheiten dieses Ausdauerwanderns, einer bahnbrechenden Aktivität im Bereich des erschwinglichen Sportes und des nachhaltigen Tourismus, war die Terminänderung notwendig, um die Schönheit des Wettkampfes und der Umgebung gleichermaßen zu erhalten. Der Raid Jable ist von seinem Konzept her ein echter Raid, es kann jedoch jeder daran teilnehmen, der in der Lage ist, zu wandern, und der die wunderschöne Landschaft der Halbinsel Jandía entdecken möchte.

El alumnado de 2º de Primaria de todos los colegios de Pájara disfrutó en febrero de la escenificación de la obra teatral ‘Recreando la paz’, representaciones que corren a cargo de los miembros de la Asociación Libert-Art. Esta iniciativa de la Concejalía de Servicios Sociales del Ayuntamiento de Pájara es posible gracias al ‘Programa de Apoyo para el refuerzo educativo y la integración social de los menores inmigrantes no comunitarios y sus familias’, y también a la colaboración de los distintos centros educativos de la localidad; y con motivo de la celebración del Día de la Paz. El programa de Apoyo para el refuerzo educativo y la integración social de los menores inmigrantes no comunitarios y sus familias’ está subvencionado por la Vice Consejería de Bienestar Social e Inmigración del Gobierno de Canarias. El argumento de la obra ‘Recreando la Paz’ gira en torno a una mujer forastera, pero de procedencia indeterminada, que amanece en l patio de una escuela junto a un caballete y un lienzo en blanco. El personaje cuenta a los escolares de dónde viene, y el alumnado le ayudará en su búsqueda de la paz, a fin de que pueda marcharse con una nueva esperanza.

THEATRE IN SCHOOLS TO TEACH SOCIAL VALUES TO CHILDREN OF 2ND PRIMARY

Schoolchildren of 2nd Primary in all Pájara’s schools enjoyed in February the staging of the theatre play “Recreando la Paz” (Recreating peace), which was performed by members of the Libert-Art Association. This initiative from Pájara’s Ayuntamiento’s Social Services Council was made possible thanks to the “Support Programme for the educational reinforcement and social integration of young non-European immigrants and their families”, and the collaboration from various educational centres of the area; also motivated by the celebration of Día de la Paz (Peace Day). The Support Programme for the educational reinforcement and social integration of young non-European immigrants and their families is financed by the Social Wellbeing and Immigration Vice-Council of the Canarian Government. The object of the play called “Recreando la Paz” is

based on a foreign woman, of unknown origins, who wakes up on the patio of a school. The personage tells schoolchildren where she comes from and they help her in her search for peace, so that she can leave with new hopes.

DIE SCHÜLER DER ZWEITEN GRUNDSCHULKLASSE SOLLEN DURCH THEATER SOZIALE WERTE KENNENLERNEN

Die Schüler der 2. Grundschulklasse aller Schulen von Pájara sahen im Februar die Inszenierung des Theaterstückes ‘Recreando la paz’, das von Mitgliedern des Verbandes Asociación Libert-Art aufgeführt wurde. Diese Initiative des Amtes für Soziales der Gemeinde von Pájara wird anlässlich des Friedenstages durchgeführt und dank dem Programm zur Unterstützung der Bildung und sozialen Integration von Minderjährigen Immigranten aus Nicht-EU-Ländern und deren Familien sowie durch die Beteiligung mehrerer Schulen des Ortes ermöglicht. Das Programm zur Unterstützung der Bildung und sozialen Integration von minderjährigen Immigranten aus Nicht-EU-Ländern und deren Familien wird vom Amt für sozialen Wohlstand und Immigration der Regierung der Kanaren durchgeführt. In dem Theaterstück ‘Recreando la Paz’ geht es um eine Ausländerin, über die nicht bekannt ist, woher sie kommt, und die im Innenhof der Schule neben einer Staffelei und einer leeren Leinwand erwacht. Sie erzählt den Schülern, woher sie kommt, und die Schüler helfen ihr, den Frieden zu finden, so dass sie mit neuer Hoffnung weiter gehen kann.

EL NUEVO CENTRO POLIVALENTE EN EL CHARCO SE TERMINARÁ EN UN MES

El pasado mes de febrero, Alcalde de Puerto del Rosario, Marcial Morales, y distintos Concejales del Grupo de Gobierno municipal visitaron las obras, en fase de culminación, de lo que será el nuevo Centro Polivalente del Charco, en la C/ Almirante Lallemand de este popular barrio capitalino. El importe de la ejecución de la obra asciende a 850.000 € y pertenece a las acciones comprendidas dentro del Proyecto “PUERTO CAMINA”, cofinanciado por el Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER). El plazo para la culminación de las obras se estima en un mes aproximadamente. El nuevo centro polivalente del Charco se eleva en una superficie de unos 1000 m² , integrado a su vez en un solar de unos 3.330 m². Se trata de un edificio donde la adaptabilidad, la accesibilidad y la funcionabilidad serán sus ejes definitorios, planteando como espacios más importantes, una sala polivalente de unos 150 m² para cerca de 100 usuarios, un escenario para actos, un gimnasio, una sala de lectura o una terraza transitable. La apuesta por la sostenibilidad quedará patente en el empleo de placas de energía fotovoltaica en la zona de la cubierta.

DAS NEUE MEHRZWECKZENTRUM IN EL CHARCO WIRD IN EINEM MONAT FERTIG SEIN

Im Februar besuchten der Bürgermeister von Puerto del Rosario, Marcial Morales, und verschiede Mitglieder der Regierungsfraktion der Gemeinde die kurz vor dem Abschluss stehenden Bauarbeiten des neuen Mehrzweckzentrums in der Straße Calle Almirante Lallemand in El Charco, einem volkstümlichen Stadtteil der Hauptstadt. Die Bauarbeiten kosten 850.000 € und werden im Rahmen des Projektes “PUERTO CAMINA” durchgeführt, das vom europäischen Fond für regionale Entwicklung (FEDER) kofinanziert wird. Die Bauarbeiten sollen in ungefähr einem Monat fertig sein. Das neue Mehrzweckzentrum des Charco wird auf einem ungefähr 1.000 m² großen Grundstück gebaut, das zu einem ungefähr 3.330 m² großen Baugelände gehört. Es wird ein zugängliches, anpassungsfähiges und funktionales Gebäude sein, das über einen 150 m² großen Mehrzwecksaal für ungefähr 100 Nutzer, eine Bühne, eine Turnhalle, einen Leseraum und eine gangbare Terrasse verfügen. Außerdem wird durch die Verwendung von Solarplatten auf Nachhaltigkeit gesetzt.

LA MANCOMUNIDAD DE MUNICIPIOS CENTRO SUR CAMBIA DE PRESIDENTE

El pasado mes de febrero, en la sala de juntas del Ayuntamiento de Tuineje, se procedió a realizar el acto formal de traspaso de la Presidencia de la Mancomunidad de Municipios Centro Sur de Fuerteventura formada por los cuatro ayuntamientos del centro sur de la isla, Antigua, Betancuria, Pájara y Tuineje. El acto consistió en que D. Salvador Delgado Guerra, actuando como Presidente saliente de la Mancomunidad de Municipios del Centro Sur de Fuerteventura, procedió a realizar el traspaso formal de la presidencia de la misma a D. Rafael Perdomo Betancor, quién aceptando toma posesión del cargo, todo ello en cumplimiento del orden rotativo establecido en los Estatutos, pasando D. Salvador Delgado Guerra a ser vicepresidente tercero y los Sres. D. Gustavo Berriel Hernández y D. Marcelino Cerdeña Ruiz,

vicepresidentes primero y segundo respectivamente. Igualmente se formalizaba el traspaso de la Sede de la Mancomunidad que a partir de este momento, y durante todo el año 2011, se ubicará en el Municipio de Pájara. La Mancomunidad de Municipios Centro Sur de Fuerteventura da trabajo a una media de ochenta trabajadores, en proyectos de formación y empleo como Escuelas Taller y Talleres de Empleo financiados por el Servicio Canario de empleo destacando la Escuela Taller “Dinamización de Áreas Comerciales” y el Taller de Empleo “Agrovida”. La Mancomunidad dispone de una bolsa de empleo y asesoramiento empresarial dentro de la Agencia de Empleo y Desarrollo Local, así como un equipo de Orientación para el Empleo y el Autoempleo. En cuanto al aspecto social se cuenta con un equipo de Menores en Riesgo y gestiona el Centro de Día para enfermos mentales. Como servicio mancomunado de los ayuntamientos está el Servicio de Recogida de Animales (Perrera).

The Centre South Municipalities’ Mancomunidad gets a new president

In February, Tuineje’s Ayuntamiento’s meeting room was the venue for the official change of Presidency of the Centre South Municipalities’ Mancomunidad for the four Centre South Ayuntamientos of the Island that consist of Antigua, Betancuria, Pájara and Tuineje. During the ceremony, D. Salvador Delgado Guerra, acting as outgoing President of the Centre South Municipalities’ Mancomunidad, carried out the formal Presidency hand over to D. Rafael Perdomo Betancor, who accepted his position. As established in the Articles of Association, D. Salvador Delgado Guerra became third vice president, D. Gustavo Berriel Hernández, first vice president and D. Marcelino Cerdeña Ruiz, second vice president. At the same time, the move of premises of the Mancomunidad also changed officially for the whole year 2011 and will be situated in the Municipality of Pájara. The Centre South Municipalities’ Mancomunidad employs around eighty people for training and employment initiatives such as Workshops and Employment Workshops Schools such as the Workshop School of “Commercial Areas’ Dynamism” and the “Agrovida” Employment Workshop. The Mancomunidad has an employment and business advice grant from the Employment and Local Development Agency, as well as an Orientation team for Employment and Self-Employment. As for the social side they benefit from a team for Children in Risk situations and they manage the Day Centre for mentally disabled people. They also deal with the Ayuntamientos’ Service of Animal Recovery (Dog pound).

DIE ZWECKGEMEINSCHAFT ZENTRUMSÜDEN WECHSELT IHREN PRÄSIDENTEN

Im Februar fand im Rathaus von Tuineje die formelle Übergabe der Präsidentschaft der Zweckgemeinschaft Zentrum Süden von Fuerteventura statt, der die vier Gemeinden des Südens der Insel, Antigua, Betancuria, Pájara und Tuineje angehören. Bei der Veranstaltung übergab Salvador Delgado Guerra, der abtretende Präsident der Zweckgemeinschaft der Gemeinden des Zentrums-Süden von Fuerteventura, die Präsidentschaft formell an Rafael Perdomo Betancor, der nun dieses Amt ausübt. Dabei wurde das in den Statuten verankerte Rotationsprinzip eingehalten und Salvador Delgado Guerra wurde dritter Vizepräsident, während Gustavo Berriel Hernández und Marcelino Cerdeña Ruiz zum ersten und zum zweiten Vizepräsident ernannt wurden.

Auch der Sitz der Zweckgemeinschaft wurde formell verlegt und wird für das ganze Jahr 2011 in der Gemeinde von Pájara sein. Die Zweckgemeinschaft der Gemeinden des Zentrum-Süden von Fuerteventura beschäftigt ungefähr achtzig Arbeitnehmer in Ausbildungskursen und Beschäftigungsprojekten wie Schulen und Kursen, die vom kanarischen Beschäftigungsdienst finanziert werden. Unter diesen müssen die Schule für “Dynamisierung der Geschäftszonen” und der Beschäftigungskurs “Agrovida” hervorgehoben werden. Die Zweckgemeinschaft unterhält in der Agentur für Beschäftigung und örtliche Entwicklung eine Beschäftigungsbörse und eine Unternehmerberatung sowie Fachleute, die interessierte Bürger bei der Arbeitssuche und bei der Selbsteinstellung beraten. Im sozialen Bereich gibt es ein Team für gefährdete Minderjährige, außerdem verwaltet die Zweckgemeinschaft die Tagesstätte für Geisteskranke. Die Gemeinden der Zweckgemeinschaft sind auch gemeinsam für die Aufnahme von Tieren (Hundezwinger) zuständig.

El pasado 4 de febrero, el Alcalde Salvador Delgado y la Concejala de Educación, Mayte Espino mantenían una reunión con los padres de los alumnos que han de trasladarse en el turno de tarde, cada día, a la Capital de la isla para cursar ciclos formativos. Durante la reunión se les informaba de una rebaja en la cuota de transporte de 40 €, ya que venían pagando 90 € mensuales por el servicio lo que dejaría una cuota mensual de 50 €.

“Die Zucht der Wüstentrüffel hat Zukunft, denn es besteht eine große Nachfrage” Bevor wir das Interview mit Mario Honrubia beginnen, einem Biologen der Universität von Murcia, versuchen wir die Bedeutung der Zucht der Wüstentrüffel (hongo criada) auf Fuerteventura kurz zusammenzufassen. Die Wüstentrüffel sind unterirdische Pilze der Terfezia-Art. Sie wachsen in den Wurzeln der Pflanze kanarisches Sonnenröschen (Helianthemum Canariense). Die Wüstentrüffel werden in der Gastronomie von Fuerteventura sehr geschätzt, und man kann sie überall auf der Insel finden, sowohl auf Gelände mit lehmigem Boden als auch im Vulkansand. Traditionell werden sie zu Beginn des Frühlings gesammelt, aber inzwischen geschieht das immer früher; vor allem im Vulkansand, denn dort wachsen sie schneller. Diese Pilze, die früher fälschlicherweise “weiße Trüffel” genannt wurden, wachsen in den halbtrockenen Mittelmeerzonen, aber man findet sie auch in China, Ungarn, Irak, Kuwait, Saudi-Arabien und auf den Kanaren. In fast all diesen Ländern werden diese Pilze sehr geschätzt und gesammelt, denn es besteht eine große Nachfrage. Deshalb beteiligt sich der GDR Maxorata zusammen mit anderen Gruppen an dem Projekt MICODES, mit dem beabsichtigt wird, die wirtschaftliche und die soziale Lage mit einer Strategie zu verbessern, durch die der Wert der mykologieschen Arten sind erkannt werden soll; auf Fuerteventura sind die weitverbreiteten Wüstentrüffel eine derartige Art. Seit Juni des Jahres 2010 läuft ein Pilotprojekt für die Züchtung von Wüstentrüffeln. Zu diesem Zwecke wurden 2000 kanarische Sonnenröschen gepflanzt, die vorher im Labor des Departements für Pflanzenbiologie der Universität von Murcia mit Sporen von Wüstentrüffeln inokuliert wurden. Der Biologe Mario Honrubia war auf Fuerteventura, um diese experimentellen Pflanzungen zu besichtigen und um an einem Treffen mit den Landwirten der Insel teilzunehmen, zu dem auch die Beauftragte für Umwelt und Landwirtschaft, Natalia Évora, und der Direktor des GDR Maxorata, Cristóbal David de Vera, kamen. Wann begannen die Verhandlungen um dieses Projekt? 2009 begann das Projekt mit verschiedenen Gruppen auf dem Festland, die im Bereich der ländlichen Entwicklung tätig waren. Wir begannen Gespräche

mit David Vera und es bestand die Möglichkeit, uns an dem Projekt MICODES zu beteiligen. Wir hatten eineinhalb Jahre Zeit, um die Pflanzen vorzubereiten und sie nach Fuerteventura zurückzuschicken, nun sehen wir die Ergebnisse. Wie werden diese Pflanzen inokuliert? Dies geschieht durch einen biotechnologischen Prozess. Wir bringen die Samen des Pilzes in die Wurzel der Pflanze, und innerhalb von sechs Monaten kann er aus dem Boden sprießen. Danach ist sein Überleben gesichert. Und wie lange dauert es, bis die Pilze dann auf dem Land geerntet werden können? Das ist unterschiedlich, ungefähr zwei Jahre. Müssen die Pflanzen dann wieder inokuliert werden oder erneuern sie sich selbst? Sie erneuern sich selbst. Eine Pflanze wird ungefähr

20 alt, aber sie erzeugt viele Samen, und wenn diese, die ja schon von dem Pilz kontaminiert wurden, auf die Erde fallen, inokulieren sie sich selbst. Wie entstand diese bahnbrechende Idee? Sie entstand in meiner Forschungsgruppe für Mykologie an der Universität von Murcia. Mit dieser Gruppe haben wir das technologische Wagnis begonnen, das Spin-Off enannt wird, weil es in einem Forschungsinstitut entstanden ist. Nach 11 Jahren Arbeit, haben Sie schon viel Erfahrung … Ja, außerdem kommen zu den 11 Jahren noch weitere Jahre, in denen die Vorarbeit für dieses Projekt geleistet wurde. Sind Sie mit Ihren Erfolgen zufrieden? Ja, wir arbeiten viel, aber wir hatten schon viele Erfolge. Was bedeutet MICODES? Das ist die Abkürzung für das Projekt für ländliche Entwicklung, Mykologie, Erhalt und Entwicklung. Die sechs Gruppen auf dem spanischen Festland und die siebte Gruppe auf Fuerteventura haben erfolgreiche Pflanzungen geschaffen. Gehören noch mehr Gemeinschaften zu MICODES? Können Sie uns bitte etwas über ähnliche Projekte erzählen, die an anderen Orten durchgeführt werden? MICODES verfügt über 20 Pflanzungen an sieben verschiedenen Orten, die alle schon in Betrieb sind. In den ersten wurden schon Pilze geerntet, und wir gehen davon aus, dass es in allen spätestens in zwei Jahren so weit ist. Hier erwarten wir die erste Ernte im Jahr 2012. Also haben es die technischen und biologischen Fortschritte ermöglicht, auf kontrollierte Weise eine Art zu züchten, die bis jetzt vom Zufall abhängig war. Ist das richtig? Dies ist der Beginn einer Zucht, die es vorher nicht gab, und nach der in Zukunft eine große Nachfrage bestehen wird.

Mario Honrubia – Biologist of the University of Murcia

“Cultivation of criada has a bright future ahead and very high demand” Before starting our interview with Mario Honrubia, biologist of the University of Murcia, we will make a short summary of the importance of criada fungus in Fuerteventura. Criadas are fungi of the Terfezia kind also called desert truffles. They grow on the root of the turmero (Helianthemum Canariense) plant. It is appreciated a lot in Majorero gastronomy, and can be found all over the island, both on clay and sandy terrains. The traditional harvest season starts in spring although it seems to get earlier and earlier, especially in sandy terrain where they mature quicker. This type on fungi, which mistakenly used to be called “white truffle”, are traditionally from semiarid areas of the Mediterranean, although they are also found in countries such as China, Hungary, Iraq, Kuwait, the Arabian Peninsula and all over the Canaries. In almost all those places this fungus is appreciated a lot, usually harvested, sold and very demanded. This is the reason why GDR Maxorata, as well as other associations participates in the MICODES project that aims at promoting economical and social improvement with a strategy of promotion of mycology resources, which in Fuerteventura’s case are criadas that grow in abundance on the island. This pilot project is under way since June 2010 and aims at growing criada in a controlled manner. Therefore, 2000 turmero plants were planted; they were previously inoculated with spores of the criada fungus through a process carried out in the laboratories of the Vegetal Biology Department of Murcia’s University. Biologist Mario Honrubia visited Fuerteventura in order to check out those experimental plantations and to meet farmers of the island during a meeting where the Environment and Agriculture Councillor, Natalia Évora, and the manager of GDR Maxorata, Cristóbal David de Vera were also present. How did the negotiation for this project start? We started working on this project in 2009, with various rural development groups of Mainland Spain. We started with David Vera and we saw the possibility to participate in the MICODES project. We had two

and a half years to prepare the plants, bring them back to Fuerteventura and then wait and see how it all evolved. How are the plants inoculated? We use a bio-technological process that consists of inserting the fungus inside the root, from the sawing stage until it is ready to be planted in the field. After this period we have the guarantee that it will survive. After it is planted in the field, how long does it take before the first harvest? It depends, but on average it takes one to two years. Will those plants have to be inoculated again or will they regenerate on their own?

Indeed, they regenerate. It is a plant that lives for about 20 years, but it produces many seeds and as those seeds fall on the ground which is already contaminated with the fungi, they auto-inoculate themselves and the system is self-maintaining. Where did this pioneering idea come from? It came up in my Mycology Micoriza research group at the University of Murcia. From this group, we created a technology based business, which is called a spin-of as it comes from a research centre. You already benefit from a wide experience after 11 years of work... Yes indeed, and in addition to those eleven years, it took many years of work and research before then to get to this stage. Are you satisfied with the successful results achieved? Yes I am, it represents a lot of work but the achievements are plentiful. What does MICODES means? It is the acronym for the project of rural mycology development and preservation. Plantations of all six groups of Mainland Spain and the seventh in Fuerteventura are doing very well. Does MICODES include other associations? Can you tell us about other types of similar projects developed in other areas? MICODES has about 20 plantations in seven sites which are all producing and actives. The first ones have already started harvesting and the latest ones are expected in two years times. This means that we are expecting the first harvest here in 2012. Therefore those techno-biologic developments have made it possible for a controlled production which until now was more or less due to fate. Is that right? This is the beginning of a production that did not exist before and that has a bright future ahead and high demand.

Mejoras para el sector hortícola en el Plan de Seguros 2011 El director general de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural del Gobierno de Canarias, Pedro Tomás Pino, y representantes de la Entidad Nacional de Seguros Agrarios (ENESA) y Agroseguro, se reunieron en Tenerife con miembros de las Organizaciones de productores de frutas y hortalizas (OPFH) y Asociaciones agrarias de las Islas para exponer las mejoras para el sector hortícola adoptadas en el Plan de Seguros para el 2011. En el encuentro, celebrado en la sede de la Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Medio Ambiente en Santa Cruz de Tenerife, se presentó el borrador del proyecto del seguro creciente de hortalizas específico para Canarias previsto para el presente año. Esta propuesta ofrece a los agricultores la opción de contratar un aseguramiento básico a bajo precio que cubre los principales riesgos que afectan a los cultivos hortícolas del Archipiélago y cuya cobertura puede ampliarse gradualmente en función de las necesidades de los productores mediante el pago de primas más elevadas. “Constituye por tanto un seguro más flexible que ofrece a los productores de hortalizas la posibilidad de elegir entre diferentes opciones de aseguramiento para encontrar la que más adecue a sus necesidades”, destacó Pedro Tomás Pino. Este seguro agrupa las líneas específicas para hortalizas y papa, el seguro integral de cebolla de Lanzarote y de cultivos protegidos o de invernadero, como el pimiento o el calabacín. Los agricultores

dispondrán de un periodo de una semana para estudiar las medidas propuestas en este documento y presentar posibles alegaciones a dicho texto. El director general de Agricultura explicó que la cobertura de las explotaciones de las Islas sigue siendo muy desigual entre los distintos sectores- del 5 al 60 por ciento- ya que mientras plátano, tomate y vacuno cuentan con una protección prácticamente total, en el caso del viñedo y actividades como el cultivo de la

papa el aseguramiento es reducido. “Sin embargo, se ha constatado un mayor nivel de respuesta de los agricultores y ganaderos canarios en el sistema de seguros agrarios, los cuales están cada vez más concienciados de la importancia de suscribir pólizas como medida para gestionar los riesgos que afectan a sus producciones”, señaló Pedro Tomás Pino.

The Plan de Seguros 2011 provides improvements for the horticulture sector

The general director for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Canarian Government, Pedro Tomás Pino, and representatives of the National Entity for Agricultural Welfare (Entidad Nacional de Seguros Agrarios (ENESA)) and Agroseguro, met in Tenerife with members of the Associations of fruit and vegetable producers (OPFH) and agricultural Associations of the Islands in order to present the improvements adopted in the 2011 Plan de Seguros for the agricultural sector. During the meeting, celebrated in the premises of the Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing and Environment Council in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the draft of this year’s specific agricultural welfare project for the Canaries was presented.

This proposal give farmers the option to take out a low cost basic insurance that covers the main risks that affect agricultural producers in the Archipelago and whose cover can gradually be increased according to the necessities of producers. “This is a more flexible type of insurance cover that offers agricultural producers the possibility to choose between various insurance options according to their needs”, pointed out Pedro Tomás Pino. This insurance regroups specific requirements for vegetables and potatoes, the complete insurance for onions of Lanzarote and for protected or greenhouse vegetables such as peppers or courgettes. Farmers will get one week in order to study the covers on offer

and suggest eventual comments. The general director of Agriculture explained that the cover for farms in the Islands is still quite uneven between the various sectors – between 5 and 60 percent – considering that bananas, tomatoes and cattle get an almost complete cover and vineyards and activities like potato growing get a reduced insurance cover. “However, we have noticed a greater level of response from Canarian agricultural and livestock farmers concerning the agricultural insurance system, as they are more and more aware of the importance of subscribing insurance covers in order to cover risks that affect their productions”, added Pedro Tomás Pino.

Bei dem Treffen, das im Amt Für Landwirtschaft, Viehzucht, Fischerei und Umwelt in Santa Cruz de Tenerife stattfand, wurde das Konzept des Gemüseversicherungsprojekts für die Kanaren präsentiert, das für dieses Jahr vorgesehen ist. Den Landwirten wird die Gelegenheit geboten, eine

preisgünstige Versicherung gegen die Hauptrisiken abzuschließen, denen der Anbau von Obst und Gemüse im Archipel ausgesetzt ist und. Die Abdeckung kann je nach den Bedürfnissen der Produzenten durch die Zahlung höherer Prämien stufenweise erhöht werden. “Es ist eine flexiblere Versicherung, die es den Obstund –Gemüseproduzenten ermöglicht, zwischen verschiedenen Versicherungsoptionen zu wählen, damit jeder diejenige findet, die sich am besten für seine Bedürfnisse eignet”, betonte Pedro Tomás Pino. Diese Versicherung fasst die spezifischen Leitlinien für Gemüse und Kartoffeln zusammen, die Versicherung für Zwiebeln auf Lanzarote, für geschützten Anbau und Gewächshäuser, die z. B. Paprika und Zucchini betreffen. Die Landwirte haben eine Woche Zeit, um die in diesem Dokument vorgeschlagenen

Maßnahmen zu prüfen und mögliche Einwände zu diesem Text zu machen. Der Generaldirektor für Landwirtschaft erklärte, dass die verschiedenen landwirtschaftlichen Betriebe der Inseln immer noch sehr ungleich abgedeckt sind, von 5 bis 60 Prozent – während die Bananen, die Tomaten und die Rinderzucht fast vollständig geschützt sind, sind der Weinbau und die Kartoffeln kaum versichert. “Man hat jedoch festgestellt, dass immer mehr kanarische Landwirte und Viehzüchter das kanarisches Versicherungssystem in Anspruch nehmen, was bedeutet, dass ihnen immer bewusster wird, wie wichtig es ist, Versicherungspolicen gegen die Risiken abzuschließen, denen ihre Produktion ausgesetzt ist”, betonte Pedro Tomás Pino.

Verbesserungen im Versicherungsplan 2011 für die Obst-und Gemüseproduzenten

El triatleta Gómez Noya empezó, en Fuerteventura, el camino hacia su tercer título mundial Parece que fue ayer cuando el gallego Javier Gómez Noya se proclamaba, por segunda vez en su carrera, campeón mundial de triatlón. Era el mes de septiembre y Javier se enfrentaba, en la ciudad de Budapest, a la última prueba del Dextro EnergyCampeonato del Mundo. La victoria del español no era fácil, ya que dependía de una combinación de factores difícil de lograr: obtener un buen resultado en la competición y esperar el fallo del todopoderoso Jan Frodeno. Sin embargo, y contra todo pronóstico, todo sucedió según el guión soñado por el gallego. Gómez Noya atravesó la meta en segundo lugar por detrás del británico Alistair Brownlee y vio como el alemán Frodeno se hundió en el tramo de carrera a pie. Con estos resultados, el español salió de Hungría coronado como campeón del mundo. Pretemporada en Playitas resort Recién estrenado el 2011, con las expectativas en todo lo alto, Javier decidió elegir la isla de Fuerteventura para comenzar los primeros entrenamientos serios de su pretemporada. Alojado en el residencial turístico-deportivo Playitas Resort, el triatleta se ejercitó durante tres semanas en compañía de su entrenador Omar González, su pareja la triatleta olímpica alemana Ricarda Lisk y otros dos triatletas españoles: Pedro Miguel Reig (3º en el Campeonato España 2010 y con un nivel en natación similar al del campeón del mundo) y Jesús Gomar (compañero habitual de Javier en Galicia, con gran potencial tanto en la bici como en la carrera pie). El triatleta se mostró encantado de haber elegido la isla majorera para su primer período de preparación de cara a una temporada donde los objetivos son muy importantes y la exigencia máxima. “Estamos haciendo mucho volumen de agua y de bicicleta. En piscina alternamos la de 50 m de Playitas Resort con traje de neopreno y otra cubierta de 25 m. Con Pedro Miguel estoy haciendo muy buenos tiempos ya que el nivel es parecido, ha sido un acierto traerle con nosotros. Para la bici esta isla es fantástica, tiene llano y montaña, se pueden hacer todo tipo de rutas. A pie voy poco a poco, por ahora no voy a forzar, eso llegará cuando se acerquen las primeras competiciones”. Tras un período de tres semanas en la isla, Javier Gómez Noya regresó a su tierra antes de continuar su preparación en el Sur de España. Esta vez su destino es Punta Umbría, Huelva, donde permanecerá hasta mediados de marzo, fecha en la que tiene previsto viajar a Australia. Allí le espera el primer gran reto de la temporada: la primera prueba de la Copa del Mundo 2011 se disputará el 27 de marzo en Moololaba. Ese será el primer asalto de un año en el que debe defender su título mundial con la mirada puesta en el horizonte olímpico. En 2012 le esperan los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres.

El deportista español se alojó tres semanas en Playitas Resort para desarrollar la primera parte de su plan de entrenamiento

solicitan voluntarios para el Playitas Challenge Fuerteventura Desde el pasado 19 de enero la organización del Playitas Challenge Fuerteventura, a través de su representante en la isla, Pablo Herrera, responsable de la captación de voluntarios para la prueba del 30 de abril, está realizando charlas informativas en los diferentes colegios (último ciclo de primaria) y en los institutos, con el objetivo de dar a conocer la importancia de la figura del voluntariado para que una competición de estas magnitudes tenga el éxito que se merece por las condiciones paisajísticas, turísticas que aglutina la isla, y por el buen hacer de su gente. Hasta el momento, la prueba que por ser novedosa,

no es conocida por todos, no sólo en el municipio en el que se encontrará el centro neurálgico de la misma: Tuineje, sino también en los otros municipios por los que pasará la carrera en su segmento ciclista (90 kms) a través de Pájara, Betancuria, Puerto del Rosario y Antigua. Por esta razón, a lo largo de las próximas semanas se seguirá con esta función de dar a conocer esta prueba de carácter internacional, donde la inscripción de los triatletas majoreros está siendo muy significativa, lo cual da lugar a que exista la posibilidad de sentirnos, aún más, identificados con

The triathlete Gómez Noya started on the path to his third World title in Fuerteventura It seems like yesterday when Javier Gómez Noya, from Galicia, was proclaimed world triathlete champion for the second time in his career. It was in September and Javier was competing in Budapest in the World Dextro Energy Championship. The victory of the Spanish athlete was no easy task; it depended on a combination of factors that were difficult to achieve: obtain good results in the championship and wait for the all powerful Jan Frodeno to fail. However, and against all odds, it all went as the Galician could only have dreamed of. Gómez Noya passed the finishing line in second place behind the Englishman Alistair Brownlee and he saw how German Frodeno went to pieces in the running stage. Thanks to those results, the Spanish athlete left Hungary with the World champion title. Pre-season in PLAYITAS RESORT 2011 had barely started, with all hopes high, Javier decided to choose the island of Fuerteventura as the site to start his first serious pre-season training. He stayed in the tourist-sports’ orientated Playitas Resort and trained for three weeks with his coach Omar González, his partner, the German Olympic triathlete Ricarda Lisk and another two Spanish triathletes: Pedro Miguel Reig (3rd ranking in the 2010 Spanish Championship and with a similar swimming level as the world champion) and Jesús Gomar (usual colleague of Javier in Galicia, who has great potential for both cycling and running). The triathlete was delighted to have chosen the Majorero Island for his first preparation period for a season whose objectives are quite high and the expectations to their maximum. “We are training mainly for the swimming and cycling. we alternate with the 50m pool in Playitas Resort with neoprene suits and the other 25m covered pool. Together with Pedro Miguel we are achieving good results because our level is similar; it has been really fruitful to bring him with us. For the cycling training, this island is great as it offers both flat and mountain roads and we can choose from a wide range of routes. For the running I am taking it slow, and at present I am not going to strain, I will get to that stage closer to the first competitions”. After spending three weeks on the island, Javier Gómez Noya went back to his homeland to continue his training in the south of Spain. This time he is visiting Punta Umbría, Huelva, where he will remain until mid-March, which is when he has planned to go to Australia. This is where his first great challenge awaits him: the first stage of the 2011 World Cup which will take place in March in Moololaba. This will be the first trial of a year when he needs to defend his world title while also aiming at the Olympic horizon. In 2012, the Olympic Games are waiting for him in London.

Es war September, und Javier nahm in Budapest an dem letzten Wettkampf der Dextro Energy-Weltmeisterschaft teil. Der Spanier hatte es nicht leicht: Er musste bei dem Wettkampf gute Ergebnisse haben und auf das Versagen des allmächtigen Jan Frodeno warten. Trotzdem gelang es dem Galizer, seinen Traum zu verwirklichen. Gómez Noya kam nach dem Briten Alistair Brownlee als zweiter ans Ziel. Er sah, wie der Deutsche Frodeno bei dem Rennen schlecht abschnitt. Diese Ergebnisse führten dazu, dass der Spanier Ungarn als Weltmeister verließ. Vorsaison in Playitas Resort Anfang des Jahres 2011 hat Javier ehrgeizige Pläne und er beschloss, das Training in der Vorsaison auf der Insel Fuerteventura zu beginnen. Der Dreikämpfer wohnte in Playitas Resort, einer Wohnsiedlung für Sporttouristen dort trainierte er drei Wochen lang mit seinem Trainer Omar González, seiner Partnerin, der deutschen olympischen Dreikämpferin Ricarda Lisk und mit zwei weiteren spanischen Triathleten: Pedro Miguel Reig (3. Spanischer Meister 2010, der im Schwimmen ein ähnliches Niveau hat wie der Weltmeister) und Jesús Gomar (der übliche Gefährte von Javier in Galizien, der sowohl auf dem Fahrrad als auch beim Rennen ein großes Potential hat). Los cambios en el estilo de vida pueden contribuir al bienestar de quienes la padecen. Se acerca el momento. El próximo día 21 de marzo será el comienzo oficial de la primavera 2011. La luz se convierte en la gran protagonista de los días, el sistema inmunológico se altera y empezamos a modificar nuestros hábitos vitales y alimenticios. Por un momento, parece que el color y la alegría toman fuerza en la nueva estación. Sin embargo, también hay espacio para un enemigo que, puntual a su cita, hace su aparición: las alergias primaverales. Propiciadas por los cambios atmosféricos y meteorológicos, las alergias afectan, en la actualidad, a un tercio de la población mundial. Consejos para mejorar el bienestar de los alérgicos Aunque muchos apuestan por la resignación, lo cierto es que, a través de algunos consejos y hábitos se puede contribuir al alivio de los síntomas más molestos. 1. Visita al médico para detectar quién es el enemigo. Las alergias afectan en mayor medida a personas con problemas respiratorios y con sensibilidad al polen. Sin embargo, hay tantas clases de polen como plantas que florecen en esta época del año, por lo que se recomienda identificar dónde está el peligro. 2. Vigila y revisa tu alimentación. Algunos alimentos pueden potenciar las reacciones alérgicas primaverales. Se recomienda lavar meticulosamente frutas y verduras y evitar su consumo en crudo. Sin embargo, se aconseja la piña natural por su efecto antiinflamatorio en las mucosas. Por otra parte, toma más pescado azul, rico en ácidos grasos omega-3 que reducen los síntomas de las alergias. 3. Cambia tus hábitos y horarios. Infórmate sobre las horas de mayor concentración de polen (normalmente entre las 05:00 y las 10:00 h.) y reduce las actividades al aire libre en esa franja horaria. 4. Ventila y renueva el aire de tu casa. Se aconseja abrir las ventanas durante unos minutos por la tarde, con la caída del sol. 5. Filtros en el coche y en casa. En el coche, lo mejor es llevar las ventanillas cerradas y poner un filtro para pólenes en el aire acondicionado. En casa, debes colocar también filtros en los aparatos de aire acondicionado y asegurarte de que estos han pasado revisiones periódicas. Un buen mantenimiento reduce las posibilidades de alergia. No está de más colocar equipos que purifiquen el ambiente. En casos extremos, usa mascarillas. Las alergias más comunes Una de las alergias más frecuentes es la provocada por los granos de polen de flotan en el ambiente. Difícil de evitar, pues está presente en el aire que respiramos, la polinosis provoca la inflamación de la mucosa cuando entra en contacto con la nariz y los ojos. Los pequeños granos de polen son, en gran parte de los casos, los culpables de rinitis, conjuntivitis y asma bronquial, entre otros problemas. Estornudos, congestión nasal, picores por todo el cuerpo o dificultades respiratorias son algunos de los síntomas más habituales de estas alergias.
