Fuerteventura consolidates its recovery amongst European markets

Fuerteventura arrived at FITUR, in Madrid, with an exciting perspective on the recovery of the European markets and fixing its objectives of sustainability and the digitalisation of the tourism sector.

Tourism recovery
The year 2022 ended with encouraging tourism figures. According to AENA concerning passenger arrivals in Fuerteventura’s airport, the figures represented 1.967.479 passengers, for 2022, compared to 1.949.754, for 2019, which amounts to a 0,91% increase. This demonstrates the recovery of Fuerteventura with figures that are even better than before the world health crisis.
Regarding the market of Mainland Spain, the year 2022 ended with a 10,9% increase compared to 2019, regarding the arrival of passengers from Spanish towns to Fuerteventura’s airport.
Looking at European countries, Germany, which is the main market for Fuerteventura, achieved a 6,95% increase compared to the same period, in 2019.
From Fuerteventura to the rest of Europe: Madrid welcomes the presentation of the new promotional campaign of the Tourism Board
To consolidate the recovery data for the future of the sector, Fuerteventura’s Tourism Board has made a strong commitment toits promotion, and for the first time, they have created a global campaign for the main European markets, which was presented during FITUR.
The Tourism Board’s campaign is aimed at countries such as Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Holland or the Nordic Countries, as well as the national and inter-island markets.
The actions include conventional media such astelevision, radio and the written press, as well as digital marketing, social networks and influencers’ marketing, focusing on tourists who are looking for something more, the kind of tourism that enables them to practice sports outdoors all year long, with an exceptional protected natural environment, a Biosphere Reserve, with a unique gastronomy offer, and kilometre zero consumption while contributing to the diversification and growth of the primary sector.
