El ámbito educativo de Fuerteventura se vuelca contra la discriminación LGTBI+

Fuerteventura acogió el pasado mes de junio, la primera edición del “WORKSPACE: Erradicando la discriminación LGTBI+ en los ámbitos educativos”, el mayor evento de su clase dedicado a la lucha contra la LGTBIfobia en el ámbito educacional.

WORKSPACE es una actividad organizada por ALTIHAY Fuerteventura y subvencionada por la Dirección General de Diversidad del Gobierno de Canarias que cuenta con la colaboración del Cabildo de Fuerteventura.

Ante el incremento de los discursos de odio contra la comunidad LGTBI+ en España, el área de Educación de ALTIHAY Fuerteventura considera necesaria la realización de acciones formativas e iniciativas para erradicar la LGTBIfobia desde las aulas y las edades más tempranas.

A lo largo de dos intensas jornadas de trabajo, el Centro Insular de Juventud del Cabildo se convirtió en la sede de la lucha contra la LGTBIfobia, reuniendo a más de medio centenar de personas comprometidas del sector educacional, desde docentes, AMPAS, asociaciones, representantes institucionales…

El programa del evento que contó con mesas redondas y ponencias en las que participaron representantes del ámbito de la educación, tanto de Fuerteventura, de Canarias, como del panorama nacional.

La importancia de eventos como este es evidente, se trata de luchar contra la discriminación LGTBI+ en el ámbito educativo, para garantizar la igualdad y el respeto a la diversidad, promoviendo un entorno seguro y libre de prejuicios para todos los menores que permita su pleno desarrollo.

Fuerteventura’s Education Sector rises up against LGTBI+ discrimination

Fuerteventura hosted, in June, the first edition of “WORKSPACE: eradicating LGTBI+ discrimination in the education sector”, the largest event of the kind dedicated to the fight against LGTBI phobia in the education sector.

WORKSPACE is an activity organised by ALTIHAY Fuerteventura and subsidised by the General Diversity Department of the Canarian Government, in collaboration with Fuerteventura’s Cabildo.

In the face of the hate talks against the LGTBI+ community in Spain, the Education department of ALTIHAY Fuerteventura feels that it is necessary to organise training initiatives to eradicate LGTBI phobia in the classrooms from the youngest age.

Over two intense working days, the Island’s Youth Centre became the epicentre of the fight against LGTBI phobia, gathering more than fifty people committed to the education sector, such as teachers, parents’ associations, representatives of the institutions, etc.

The event’s programme included round tables and conferences with the participation of representatives of the education sector, from Fuerteventura, the Canaries and mainland Spain.

The importance of such events is obvious, it is about fighting against LGTBI+ discrimination in the education sector, to guarantee equality and respect towards diversity, by promoting a safe space, free from prejudice for all minors to ensure their full development.
