BEAUTY CORNER
Give Your Skin A Fresh Start BY
SHAMIKA
BOOKER
At the start of the year millions of people make resolutions. The majority of the resolutions pertain to weight loss or fitness goals. People join gyms and start diets. Some even decide to purge or fast as a way to jump start the process. The largest organ of the body is often overlooked: the skin. There are dead skin cells, oil, sweat, and toxins from the environment trapped in our skin. There are lots of suggestions on how to rid your face of problem areas and blackheads. It can be overwhelming when you are looking for skincare products that will work specifically for you. I have found the best product for me is a mask of both bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar. That’s it, just two ingredients. They are both easy to find and you will get a lot of use out of both ingredients separately. Grab a wooden spoon, plastic or glass bowl, and mix equal parts bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar. Create a thick paste and spread evenly over your face. Let it harden and sit for 20-25 minutes. You will feel it drawing the impurities out of your skin. Rinse with lukewarm water and then use a natural moisturizer of your choosing to coat your face. Your skin will thank you. Please send us your before and after pics to post your results. Happy New Year!

LINDA SCOTT-TAYLOR CEO & FOUNDER, 1426 FASHION WEEK
2020 has been a year of disappointment, excitement, AND many other things. For me, It has been a year where my creativity has been able to grow wild. But, what I received the most from this 2020 year, is the opportunity to sit and look back at my past. I now realize who I am and understand my worth. I've had the opportunity to rebrand myself and redirect myself in a whole new area. I'm taking time to love me, to look at myself in the mirror, and thank God that I am here. I appreciate being able to care for myself and others. 2020 taught me how to survive against all odds and to be appreciative of the ones that are around me. It's important for me to let them know that I love them TODAY, in THIS moment, because we don't know what TOMORROW holds.

QUINN BARTLET
CEO/ QUEENS MAD PRODUCTION LLC IG:@iamthemightyqueen, IG:@thecornerofficeatl I am a person who practices gratitude daily and is thankful for everything I am, everything I've had, and everything that I manifest to come. This year has been a challenge for many of us and while we envisioned 2020 as a year of clear visions, we didn't expect this bigger picture of a pandemic. Although, I've experienced loss in every way imaginable, I am still thankful that I have life. I am eager to continue in my purpose of writing stories about everyday people like you and I and reminding us all about the possibilities of hope and the opportunities to overcome. I look forward to viewing 2021 as the rainbow year that precedes the storm that 2020 rained upon us. My future resolution is to be a better me and fulfill my duty to self, and God, through acts of kindness, generosity, and motivation.

"Wow! 2020 opened my eyes. The Pandemic has been a harsh reality for all of us as many love ones were lost. This has given me a deeper sense of gratitude for life. I'M SO GRATEFUL TO BE HERE! Life is truly a blessing. In addition, 2020 has brought about many great opportunities. I've been honored to have rubbed elbows with some great minds. I mean some really wonderful people. As a #SpeakLyfe Advocate, I’ve learned that my voice is powerful. I've come to realize that even more than ever "we’re in this together." This is what makes my #SpeakLyfe Movement more meaningful. I focus on encouraging everyone including myself to take a chance and believe in ourselves. My only expectations for 2021, honestly, is to win and see others win. God chooses these wins to come about, and I am up for the challenge, because I know with HIM ALL things are possible... and I’m ok with that." - Jackie B.

"While, I understand how we can harbor on the challenges we faced, the goals that eluded us, and the plans that were stripped from us in 2020, I want to express my gratitude. I've had a chance to grow by building my communication skills, my patience, my work ethic, my budgeting, my cooking, etc. As a teacher and parent, I had to allow my children the opportunity to see me mourn the loss of loved ones and heroes. Nonetheless, I remained hopeful despite not getting reprieve from my normal places of refuge like diners, parks, church, the gym, my job, or a lounge. While, I felt vulnerable and nervous about the socio-political unrest, my attitude switched from anxiety about the unpredictable, to excitement about an impending adventure. My grandmother reminded me on her 94th birthday, “As long as I have my health and my family, I'm grateful.” If she could have a sense of accomplishment and contentment when she had way more to complain about and fight against than I did, then, who was I to sulk? My mother, who is a minister, preached that “the joy of the Lord is our strength." She reminded me that it is impossible to be grateful and unhappy at the same time. I am thankful to be able to contextualize a very uncomfortable but long-overdue conversation sparked by our social justice challenges. I want to be mindful to tell my friends and family that I genuinely love them, appreciate them, and have learned to give people their roses while they can smell them...Make sure to count and recount your blessings." MISTY BLANCO
Misty Blanco, previously known as Mysterious, is determined to make it. She was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Doesn't her name sound familiar?! Well, remember that MTV hit reality show "Making The Band"? Yep. You guessed it. She was on the show!
CEO & HIP-HOP ARTIST
Who would have thought that this runaway teen would have ever amounted to anything. How did it all start? "One day, I was chillin' at a meet & greet for R&B girl group Divine. I told them about my aspirations to become an artist. They gave me phone numbers to Music Producers Tony Perez and D Moet. They were like 'maybe they can help you.' That very same night, I fell asleep and had a dream that my Great Grandmother Turner told me specifically to call D Moet. To this day, I feel as if she opened this door and showed me everyone I would meet." In 2002, Misty auditioned for Diddy's MTV hit show, "Making The Band." "At that time, I was very insecure and I felt as though I was ugly. I went on the audition and I made it however, my attitude and outlook on life did not fit within entertainment." Though Misty did not make the band, she was offered a solo deal from Diddy, but, due to her inability to control her emotions, the deal was canceled. "Looking back, I now know that I am a work in progress. If provided the opportunity again, I would do it better. It just wasn't my time. My time is now."
Making her musical debut in 2003, Misty was featured on the Making The Band's album, TOO HOT FOR TV. "In 2005, actor Orlando Brown gave me money to invest in my music. DJ International Wigg and I clicked. I went to his studio in Texas, it was so hot, I decided to stay. I was locked in the studio. That's where I met Nelly and J. Prince. I did all of my recordings there. During that time, I released my debut mixtape THE POP OFF with International Wigg featuring J T Bigga Figga and Strike from the movie "Eight Mile." I sold 125k copies hand-to-hand. In July of 2016, Misty released her first album THE BLANCO THEORY. "We got charted through the DRT (Digital Radio Tracker) charts and on college radio. My album is still Top 10 in 30 countries and I am #9 in Europe. My single, "Who The F**k You Think You Are Talking To" is produced by Kenny Black. I credit my manager, Stephen Wrench (Manager to Lynard Skinard and Marilyn Manson) for the strides in my career." Misty Blanco is now CEO of the Misty TV Firm Corporation which is a publicity, radio campaign, and branding management company for entertainers. Misty Blanco is currently in production for the second season of her new hit reality show "Misty Blanco's Greatest Show on Earth".

AFRO B.
Why you wanna do me like Joanna?
Full Blossom Magazine had the opportunity to interview Afro Beats well-known artist Afro B and this is what he had to say. FBB: For folks that may not know who you are, how would you describe yourself? Afro B: I started off as a DJ, my whole career has been spent promoting African music and African culture. I made the transition from a DJ to an artist 5 years ago. Now, I'm at a point where my record has gone global. It’s running with the wind now. Afro wave is my brand and that is what I will keep pushing. FBB: What made you go from DJing to being an artist? Afro B: I started playing keys (piano) in church. So there was always a passion for music. I am also a music head. I don’t just listen to African Music, I listen to everything. I probably listen to African music the least out of any other genre. From Amy Winehouse to Whitney Houston.

.... From DMX to 50 cent. From T Pain and ... you name it. Eventually, I was going to come down this lane but 5 years ago was when I decided to make that jump and I didn’t look back. FBB: What was your inspiration for Drogba (Joanna)? Afro B: With my genre of music, we focus more on the vibe and the melody rather than the lyrics. It was a normal day in the studio and I was putting down melodies and Joanna was a word that I picked up from what I was doing. I just ran with it. In addition, in my country there is a big icon Drogba, who used to be a top football player and alot of people from my country shout out people who are doing things for us. So big shout out to Drogba, Ivory Coast repping. FBB: What is the one thing that no one knows about Afro B? Afro B: I get a haircut every week. This week I was struggling to find one and big up to Casanova, he hooked me up. I had to go all the way to the Bronx, it was a 50-minute cab journey but we made it happen, man. FBB: It’s Black History Month, give us a shoutout in the states. Who is your favorite person in Black History? Afro B: Martin Luther King and Muhammed Ali. They both had positive messages. They stood for something and kept on going to leave a legacy. In everything you do, make sure that you are leaving a legacy. Make sure it makes sense, and, don’t do anything for no reason. FBB: Leave us with an inspirational thought for all of our women readers and fans all over the world.
Afro B: There is no difference between African Americans and Africans. We are ALL AFRICANS!!! We are all ONE!! Let’s keep pushing the culture! Pushing what we have and be proud of who we are. One Love, One Africa. FBB: So, what’s next for Afro B? Afro B: Consistency, I am going to keep pushing. I am sitting on so many tracks right now. I am going to keep pushing Joanna until it reaches its limits and beyond. I have a track with Vybz Kartel (Shape Nice) and other songs to check out are Melanin, Shaku Shaku, Vibrate, Condo, and more. I'm working on my global dreams to fulfill my global vision. That’s what I am on. I don’t want to stay in one territory in the UK. I want to keep expanding to spread the culture all over the world. Doors will open for sure. Stay tuned.

As a result, I was able to be intentional with my time, my focus, and my peace. This was a year of great manifestations rooted in faith and love (internally and externally). Moving forward in 2021, I will continue to be a light and a beam for others but ONLY after my cup flows OVER. I must RETAIN some for myself. One thing I'd love to share with everyone is to remember that as we all continue to climb to a higher ascension of ourselves in God, we must increase our vibrations so that we can flow in an airtight connection with him. I am honestly blessed and thankful for the ability to use my gifts to help myself, my family, and my community work through the challenges we currently face. I am grateful that I have been able to lead my team through the pandemic as we work from home and do our very best to help small business owners stay afloat. I’m so grateful to keep my team of nine gainfully employed and able to support their families. During this year, my job went on furlough and while most people were scared and/or eager to get back to work, I sat in the comfort of my learned

What I love most is that I took the remainder of the year and turned it into a win for me. For that, I am forever thankful. Andrea Michelle is a plus, and all that I do is A+."

2020 hasn't been easy, but I'm proud of how I've kept my poise. I pride myself for having grace under pressure. God's grace and favor that is. I'm so thankful for how blessed I am. I'm blessed with my life, health, and strength. In spite of everything wrong going on around me, I remain optimistic. All the hardships that I've overcome have made me stronger. There's a quote by Willie Nelson that says, "When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around." There is always something to be thankful for. Just look up and look around. I know there are great things prepared for me in 2021."

"With Covid-19, people are imperatively forced to come together in the home because of the restrictions put in place. We all have the option of looking at things in a positive or negative light. I believe we should look at the situation, not in terms of restrictions, but in terms of restoration and re-birth. We should take advantage of the opportunity to reconnect with our family because time is of the essence. Let's focus on how this time can bring a family together and make our loved ones concentrate on achieving their dreams and aligning their lives with what is truly important. The year 2020 taught me to think about the healing that food can bring. When suffocation and tension have become the cavity of decaying family relationships, food can be a conduit to fill crucial components of communication and nurturing. This is essential to all families' mental and spiritual health."

"2020 was filled with many twists and turns. From COVID 19 to the fight against police brutality, Through it all, there are many stories about the resiliency of our communities pulling together to fight systematic racism and work together to meet the needs of those most affected by this global pandemic. This year, I am most grateful to those who showed up to put their hands to work to make today better and tomorrow great! To the essential workers and the workers that were forced to be essential, I am most grateful for you!"

Tanzania Shakur, MURP ACTIVATE YOUR BLESSING
Over the years, I have had to revamp my spirit and healing process. I realized that I wasn't focused on me enough and that caused me to block my blessings. In order to receive a blessing, you have to let go of what you think a blessing is, and what a blessing should look like. I realized that in order to change my mindset, I had to humble it first. I always understood what it meant to be thankful, but, I truly never focused on what it meant to have GRATITUDE. This year, I spoke to a very wise man who asked me a very peculiar question, "You say that you are thankful, but, are you grateful?" He then advised me to invest in myself with thanks and gratitude. It took the entire day for me to really understand what he was suggesting. I suffered from anxiety for years but, 2020 interrupted this cycle and replaced my ailment with gratitude! During this year I had no choice but to learn how to control my emotions. I had to be brave for Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and countless others. As I reflect on the many up and downs of 2020, I appreciate all the experiences I have attained whether I liked them or not. I had to find a positive balance and accept the good, the bad, and the ugly of 2020 from Covid to the War on Racism.
What I learned about gratefulness is that it creates joy in your heart. A Grateful heart is a magnet for miracles and blessings. When you're thankful and appreciative for life and for the things that you currently possess, you will always be rewarded with more. It might not seem like much right now, but, once you activate a spirit of gratitude, you will see and feel blessings and that more abundantly. When you are ready to heal and receive your blessings from the universe, your blessings will be bigger than your problems, ONLY, if you express Gratitude! In 2021, I’m applying gratitude to myself and to the entire black community. I am dedicating my life to my people, and my culture. My charge is to cultivate and nourish my people's mind, body, and soul. Life is all about creating genuine love and bonds. It’s up to us to build positive, caring, and loving relationships. In this new year, I‘m not making plans, I’m creating opportunities. “Plant seeds every single day that you know who you are, you know what you’re about, and you know what goals you’ve set for yourself.” —Steph Curry Activate your blessing To be Thankful is to be Grateful ❤

"2020 has been the year of extreme highs and lows. While many were forced to work from home, others started a home-based business. While some were laid off, others suffered foreclosures. Some also had to quit college to support their families. So for those of us whose families were not affected by this pandemic, be grateful. For those of us who still have a job and can still pay our bills and/or mortgages, be grateful. One great thing that the pandemic did for us all was to bring about an urgent sense of community. I have seen people showing up for one another like never before. This is all due to being grateful for what we STILL have. Let's keep this momentum going!"

Let's get to work! "In a year full of uncertainty and strife, I am continuously in awe of and grateful for God's grace and mercy. He guided and provided for me as I stepped out on faith leaving a successful career in human resources to launch my own business. HRemedy Consulting is a boutique leadership development firm, specializing in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. In addition, to doing all of this, he has allowed me to fulfill my childhood dream of teaching business concepts to high school students. Although, this is not always easy, I am forever grateful for a career that allows me to inspire and impact others while showing up as authentically as I can. Most of all, I am grateful for the love, support, and patience of my family, friends, and students. From a gentle nudge, to words of encouragement, they have kept me humble, yet hungry. 2020 proved to be the year of faith, fear, and anticipation and I am claiming that 2021 will be the year of abundance, favor, and peace for us all."
