Course Year: 2010 Course: ARCH 743 Instructors: Cecil Balmond, Roland Snooks Team Members: Yohei Yamada, Hongcheng Tse, Jianqiu Ouyang Role on the Team: Designed concept of research, behaviors of swarm intelligence agents, and composed the coding using Rhino Visual Basic language. Concept & Research: The goal for the seminar is to get familiar with swarm intelligence agent behaviors, be able to compose scripts that creates such behaviors and to manipulate the behaviors and explore complexity of geometries. The concept of our team was to use the agents as tiny pellets and bombard a simple chunk of solid from various directions and under various force fields. We also set a rule that the pellets were allowed to bounce at most 5 times onto the object, with each time a power falloff which means a reduced size of craters until they eventually diminished. The end results of the geometry were complex forms as expected yet never achievable using other methods.
