Experience a full year of incredible
It's always a thrill to be on stage at Bass Hall. Making music with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and sharing it with our audience is a unique experience each time, and that's why every concert is exhilarating! I'd like to point out some highlights of the 2017-18 season that are particularly exciting to me. Along with the joy of standard masterpieces and beloved familiar artists, I am eager to perform some innovative, challenging programming: First, we will be bringing back notable contemporary composers Anna Clyne, Mason Bates, and Jimmy López. We are really excited to have commissioned a symphonic version of Jimmy's lauded new opera, Bel Canto. We will also tackle works that the FWSO and I have never performed together before, such as Rachmaninoff's overly romantic 3rd Symphony, Strauss’ impressive Ein Heldenleben and Debussy's Spanish-flavored Iberia. Finally, we will begin an exciting journey with our new Artistic Partner, violinist Augustin Hadelich, who will be performing symphonic concerts with us, as well as joining us on tour to Washington DC's Kennedy Center in April 2018. Each new season is an opportunity to push ourselves toward greater artistic depth and achievement, and I can't wait to get started! —Miguel Harth-Bedoya Music Director
