I t is my pleasure to share with you this “Season in Review,” a snapshot of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra’s achievements during the 2013-14 season, made possible by your generous support. This season was filled with exceptional musical experiences presented by some of the finest musicians in this country and led by our gifted music director, Miguel HarthBedoya. There are always a few performances that transcend the ordinary and remain etched in our minds. For example, who will soon forget Yo-Yo Ma’s debut performance with the FWSO that brought the audience to their feet before the last note faded? Another highpoint of the season was the orchestra's long-anticipated reunion with the Texas Ballet Theater for its performances of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake last May. The performances were a triumph, and the houses were filled to capacity, an astounding result which the Ballet leaders attribute in large part to the return of live music. The collaboration is flourishing – two Texas Ballet Theater productions will feature live music by the FWSO in 2014-15 and more are planned for future seasons! Drawn to the diversity of programming, nearly 45,000 headed out to Concerts In The Garden this summer, resulting in a new revenue record of nearly $1.5 million! In its 24th year, this family-friendly summer music festival has become a statewide treasure and an object of community pride. The Orchestra devoted considerable effort to education with nearly 100 performances and programs engaging the minds of more than 60,000 children and adults in our region. Whether in the exquisite Bass Performance Hall, on the lawn of the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, or in a school gymnasium, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra is unique in its ability to bring the joy of music to all ages and audiences and further connect our community. These results represent the hard work of so many people: our wonderful musicians and esteemed guest artists who inspired us with their talent; our administrative team that accomplished daily miracles; and our dedicated trustees who provided wise and gifted leadership. And to each of you who are included in the pages of this report, I extend a heartfelt “thank you” for your continued support.
Warmest regards,
Amy Adkins, President and CEO

The 2014-15 season celebrates the 15th anniversary since Miguel Harth-Bedoya took the podium as the ninth Music Director in the FWSO’s 100-year history. The 2014-15 Symphonic Series features pieces that have not been performed by the Symphony in more than 15 years as well as Miguel’s favorite masterworks including Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony, and Beethoven’s iconic Symphony No. 5. Miguel continues to share the excitement of our Orchestra and Fort Worth through his extensive guest conducting schedule including national engagements with Aspen Music Festival, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Grand Teton Festival and international guest appearances with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic, and the Bremen Philharmonic, to name a few. In addition to Miguel's 15th anniversary, the FWSO is thrilled to celebrate its 25th summer of Concerts In The Garden with 16 family-friendly performances beginning June 5, 2015.
