When he walks outside after school and looks around him and he sees all the people working behind their computers in the big office buildings, he thinks: guys, come outside and connect with one of my classmates, to give them a saver life…
…We met Darryl when he became Child Principle from the OBA and when he held a speech there. In this speech he talked about how kind the people from the OBA are and that is a place where safety can be guaranteed for all children..
I am Darryl, chief editor of the election special and the national newspaper, my topic is EDUCATION FOR EVERYONE AND SAFETY. I want every child to have a voice. I’m from the South-East of Amsterdam myself and I didn’t always have an easy time. The South-East of Amsterdam is in the news in a negative manner often, but I would like to show the positive side.
I’m always different than other children, I’m very focused on my future.
Darryl is a very social and sweet boy who, very well, knows what he wants and what he thinks is important. A real journalist who knows how to ask good and substantive questions.

On Wednesday the 16th of March 2022 will be the municipal elections, where 1.5 million children will be allowed to vote. Only the attendance is low, very low even though a lot of things the local council decides, impact the youth. It’s time for a program sequence in collaboration with the Jongerenkieswijzer (youth election guide).
In this edition we talk with alderman Marjolijn Moorman. How does she look back on her 4 years as alderman? What went well, what could be better and what are the plans for the future? What do youth organizations think about how she does her work? Come over and join the conversation.
Why do you think it’s important that children can join the conversation?
Jano was present at the first children’s press conference about the coronavirus and was able to ask a question to Mark Rutte and Hugo de Jonge. Jano hopes that there will be more children’s press conferences, because children should be able to be part of the conversation.
This is Achraf el Johari, the youth mayor from Amsterdam. He is worried about increasing racism and ethnic profiling by the police.

Tanja Jadnanansing is district chairman in the South-East of Amsterdam and organizes the Children’s committee there. An important theme for her is the anti-discrimination policy, where she likes to include children in. 1 in 4 children in The Netherlands experience discrimination on school!
How can we make sure that we listen better to each other in The Netherlands?
Franc Weerwind is the minister of legal protection and D66 politician. He thinks it’s important that everyone, youngand old can feel safe in The Netherlands.
What does safety in The Netherlands mean to you?
Nourdin El Ouali is an educator and Party leader of the political party NIDA. An important theme for him is equal opportunities for each child and he wants more attention toward Language development.
What do you really want to fight for when you get into the House of Representatives?

Elsa van de Loo is a lawyer and Candidate for the political party NIDA. The minimum wage has to be raised in het opinion and she hopes that we as a community can work together more and do more to help each other.
How do you want to help parents that don’t have a lot of money?
Andrej van Hout is chairman from the Jonge Socialisten, the youth department from the Partij van de Arbeid. His goal is to involve the youth more in Politics and together with parents and schools, Andre wants to fight Bullying, this is still a big problem among children.
There have been a lot of demonstrations against racism and discrimination. What do you want to do about that?

Jaron Tichelaar is Party leader for the political party JONG. He wants children to really get a voice in the House of representatives.

What do you think is the most important thing for education?
Dominic is Children’s mayor of Amsterdam. Together with the children’s council, he makes sure that the wishes of children are put on the agenda of the municipality
He wants to visit schools and do research on how many children are being bullied. If they are, he wants to tackle it!
