Theme and purpose of the environmental graphic design proposal Artifice Design Studio is a multidisciplinary workplace engage in conceiving, designing and developing new products, interior spaces and graphics. Some of the services offered are branding, logos, advertisements, packaging, product design, space planing, etc. The office space is divided in three categories: studio, workshops & co-working space. The workshop will offer the general public the opportunity to gain knowledge in different design topics like entrepreneurship, fundaments and principles of design, arts and crafts among others. The co-working space will provide freelance designers or other business people the opportunity to rent an office space by the hour, month or year. Making this space the ultimate design central. Artifice will serve small to medium sized companies. The studio will be based in Caguas, PR. and will operate from a small, downtown office. This office will be modern, practical, and sleek. This is very important because the office of a designer reflects their work product. It will represent the aesthetic of the brand. Artifice will grow their customer base by providing strategically placed outdoor advertisements and propaganda.

Justification or need to intervene in that space Currently the Angora Block building is rented by MCS, GLAC tutoring center and CorTech. Artifice will rent all three spaces. At present there is no space or concept like Artífice in Caguas or bordering towns. The building has no signage or wayfinding system except the basics like company logo, bathroom signs and regulatory/emergency signs. That is why it’s beneficial to implement a system that is consistent with the needs of the new space, this will help the new customers get familiarized with the space and navigate it easily.

According to Calori (2015) typeface selection is key to the visual appearance of a sign program’s graphic system. For this project we will use a Sans serif face because they are better suited for projects where a contemporary look is desired. Suggested by the book is Gill Sans, this typeface is great because it has a large family. For this project the goal is to make the sign program blend in more closely with its setting, which according to Calori (2015) can be achieved through the use of sign colors that harmonize with the environment.
