FEEL GOOD DRINKS – YCN STUDENT AWARDS Re-engage 18-35 year old females with a different look on the Feel Good brand that spreads positivity and healthy living.

THE BRIEF

My role within this collaborative brief primarily involved early concept design and mock-ups that would be further developed in the later stages of the design process. I primarily researched into basic pattern design and designs that would appeal to the audience described in the brief.

William Morris was a starting point in regards to the focus of pattern

design and how extensive these designs could be. The nature-oriented theme suited well with Morris’ designs and surface textiles. I had to also consider how these designs would repeat on the bottle shape.

VISUAL RESEARCH

Yelena Bryksenkova’s extensive pattern-oriented illustrations were another point

of visual research into practitioners. These illustrations feature a lot of heavy pattern design and they are extremely sophisticated but still have an innocent air about them.

VISUAL RESEARCH

I researched deeper into the many other re-brands and redesigns of certain bottle companies and looked into how these bottle designs would work with the type of feeling, mood and shape we would like to achieve with our own designs. My research involved looking into other healthy drink brands in the market, to see how they managed to create an organic yet sophisticated and friendly mood with their branding and bottle design.

INITIAL IDEAS

After gathering enough visual research I started to play around with the idea of healthy living and organic themes in my sketchbook, I also wanted to try out certain colour palettes and how we could come across as both organic and mature. I had to keep in mind that since this is for a fruit juice brand the colour of the actual juice itself will come into play so I decided to reduce the amount of colour I used as examples later on in my sketchbook. These drawings are basic ideas thrown onto paper to see whether or not my teammates would like the certain aesthetic of one image or a collection of them.

REFINED IDEAS

These are the final designs that will be further developed and finalised over the course of the design process, they will be the basic foundation for the design aesthetic for the bottle designs and will be picked up by my other teammates for tweaking or basic development. These designs are the result of conversations with my group in regards to the kind of pattern that will wrap around the bottle and the brand logo itself.
