STUDIO BRIEF 1: Project Proposal Project Rationale
GABRIELLA BRACHO
Project Rationale. (what do you intend to do and why?) Create a thematic scenario and world inspired by Peruvian culture and folklore; created promotional items & appropriate images that will promote an animated film or shorts will achieve this. Concept art & visual development will be extremely key in this project, as will the development of character design as a professional area of interest and see how character can be applied to a wide range of different products overall. Creating either a franchise or a series of different illustrations can produce this, this area of this fictional franchise could primarily focus on Peruvian folklore whilst other branches and perhaps other movies touch upon different cultures. Why an animated film? Inspired by both the visual and contextual research that I have conducted throughout this project, creating products and illustrations that focus on the idea of a full project that touches upon different areas of both advertising and promotional work. The audience will be able to interact with this world and narrative. Theoretically this film could also be apart of a much bigger franchise and trilogy perhaps that retell or introduce different cultural narratives and legends to a wildly Western audience. Why Peruvian folklore & folk-art? Due to both personal reasons and a understanding that a general audience knows little about Latin American traditions and legends from the Andes. This will serve as both an educational introduction and a introduction into Peruvian culture and legends that aren’t European. It will bring a new breath of fresh air and introduce young people and children to wildly unknown stories as well as characters that they can grow attached to.
THEMES / SUBJECTS What Themes/Subjects will form the content of your work for this module? This should include Theoretical and non- creative based content and concerns. CREATIVE SKILLS What practical skills do you intend to further develop and apply during your project. What do you intend to use the skills for. Consider extending the use of skills that you already have in order to deliver work of a higher standard as well as identifying new skills that you will need to develop.
Conceptually driven visual skills that will help drive the art direction of this project and keep a consistency throughout the entire project itself. By extending my creative practice through extensive visual investigation through my sketchbook/visual journal I will also use these skills to solve problems and keep a range of visuals for the final mockups & proposed products. Develop professional skills in presentation and identify key points and strengths in my practice and see where I can professionally apply these images in the real world. These images must serve a purpose or be applied to one.
