THE PANMACMILLAN PRIZE 2016
One of the key pieces of artist research into children’s books by one of my favourite illustrators: Isabelle Arsenault
RESEARCH & IDEAS
Basic character design and early mock-ups of possible cover art as well as the inside pages and possible wrap designs that would ago around the actual product itself. These sketches would then be taken a bit further. These pages also include actual studies of cranes and a look into their body language.
THE PANMACMILLAN PRIZE 2016
The front and back page spread of ‘The Crane Wife’ & due to the fact that the competition rules stated that text shouldn’t be flat on the images themselves I’ve yet to place any text on top of these images. However the front-cover itself will be much like a wrap.
FINALS
A healthy blend of digital editing and black ink with some brushing up here and there. The character is the main focus for the spread as well as the use of colour that is consistent throughout the book itself.
