METRO POLITEAMA
Addition project of the new Politeama station and the public space of Piazza Castelnuovo Palermo, Italy 2018 Tutors: Renzo Lecardane, UNIPA; Giuseppe Fallacara, POLIBA; Tullio Giuffrè,UNIKORE; Luigi Palizzolo, UNIPA.
In Palermo the Politeama’s area is certainly one of the most strengths of the City. The current project of the metropolitan station doesn’t return the due architectural quality to a such important place. The thesis defines its peculiarities, a project that reorganizes the public space of the square and at the underground level generates a unique monumental and architecturally peculiar space that distributes the flows of travelers on the different underground and tram lines. Particular attention has also been paid to the structural and innovation component, such IoT and 3D Print, taking advange of the collboration with Arch Giuseppe Fallacara. 9

FREED HOUSE
Sharing art, traditions and culture Alcamo Marina, Italy 2020 Tutors: Luigi Centola, NIB Master; Mauro Piantelli, De8 Architetti.
The FREED HOUSE is a redevelopment project for a building confiscated to the mafia. A hybrid cross between a guesthouse and a community center. To date the site looks like a terrain with a neglected unauthorized building on two levels in a very suggestive area, a plateau very close to the sea and immersed in the sicilian countryside. The cultural strategy of the reuse is based on a postulate: not to erase the memory of the place but to investigate its potential through a work of Architectural Overwriting. The second necessary postulate is to keep redevelopment costs low; so: avoiding demolition, use local materials and, where’s possible, maintain structure and finishing of the building. Also the design of the outdoor spaces respects the two postulates: maintain the spontaneous plant species and create a productive garden that will contribute to the costs.

WARKA VILLAGE
Hygiene & Habitats for a Pygmee Community Bibambi II Village, Cameroon 2018 - in course Tutor:
Arturo Vittori, Architecture and Vision. The Warka Village is a crowfounding project created for the purpose to give sustainable solutions to improve the life of the population living in some of the world’s most isolated communities: deep in the tropical rainforest, where lives the Pygmee Bagyeli community. The project is divided in 5 structures, all working together to decrease the health risks that are facing population living in those areas: • Warka House • Warka Tower 4.0 • Warka Tower 4.1 • Warka Pavilion • Warka Kitchen The project is subject to continuous improvement expecially during the construction. Reason why feedbaks between carpenters and architect modify every projects continuously, until the last nail was put. 27

L’ARSENALE
Expansion project for the Sea Museum 2015 - Palermo, Italy Tutor:
Cesare Ajroldi, UNIPA. The ancient Bourbon Arsenal is a building built between 1621-30 for the construction and repair of royal ships. In 1943 the rear part was heavily damaged by bombing, the rest was converted into a museum in 1997. The project described here is a work of reconstruction and expansion. The old layout was maintained only in the structural mesh, returning however a new spatial layout that with large glass openings and full-height spaces defines a monumental character; the large spaces also have a functional purpose: the exhibition of large boats. The architectonic plant thus develops on two large central bodies: the great hall for exhibitions and the auditorium; divided by a central court to intensify the supply of light for both. The three floors thus delineate the architectural (and expository) pathway that looks at the central elements at all times.

METROmentor
METROmentor: design guide to metro station 2017 - Palermo, Italy METROmentor is a book of 103 pages, outlining the “guidelines for the design of the metropolitan station divided into themes, sub-themes and references. Preliminary research work for the completion of the thesis. It is well known that urban planning is a condensation of important questions to which the prudent designer must adequately respond, the design of the underground station is no different. It would not be daring to say that it is, indeed, a condensation of many urban themes, perhaps among the most important. It cannot only be a point of interchange between different ways of moving, it must be an experience to be lived, in which Man is at the center of this process. This book addresses many of these issues and for each of them finds a reference that illustrates how talented designers from around the world have found an answer. 41
