Founded Summer of 2009 in Ney York City CEO Jose Rose.

An educational program that was designed for teachers to help students learn through their individual backgrounds and learning styles. This created opportunity for students to have thier own personal curriculum that met their individual needs through technology. To achieve this they created a prgram called the Learning Algrorithm. This was rated one of the Top 50 Inventions in 2009.

Algorithm

The Learning Algorithm is a technology “database-driven system that tracks students’ progress. The student is evaluated daily from the data that was inputed the day before.

This tracking system then creates a schedule for the student to follow that day. The teachers then can review and suggest lessons the algorightm to meet the individual needs.

everyday

life

Modern Day classrooms are filled with different types of individuals and learners that it makes it harder for the teacher to meet every student’s needs. Therefore they are forced to teach in a way that makes sense for the majority of the class.

“Children are the present... Robots are the future The robot is a metaphor for technology. Children are learning from technology and adapting as it advances each day.

Algorithm I choose to save the Learning Algorithm because this generation is all about technology and what better way to incorporate technology into a positive learning environment. We rely on technology as a part of our everyday life i.e. Facebook, twitter, x-box. It’s a way of effectively communicating and socializing with one another. During this daily process we learn new things. How to download an app or install a new program or read an article that your friend posted, the list to daily learning is never ending. As times and technology shift it’s important to alter our teaching and learning methods that relate to that specific time period; I believe that School of One is taking that into account with their students. School of One studies from 2009-2010 school year show that there was a high increase in students MAP (Measured Academic Process) scores vs. their peers who did not participate in the program. Out of the entire lesson the Math portion was favored by many students which resulted in high math scores. School of One was also featured in Times Top 50 inventions of 2009. There has been lots of debate about the costly use of technology such as interactive laptops for each student but isn’t a positive investment towards children’s education more important than your daily coffee run? works cited Barton, Misty. “The History of Interactive Whiteboards.” EHow.
