top5 REASONS TO GET ARRESTED

Welcome to a regular NamWheels feature: our top 5 car-related list. It’ s certainly not a pleasant top5 list to compose but we thought that some people could use a gentle reminder that any naughty behaviour may just land them in hot water with the local constabulary. So, dearest reader, please follow our advice and obey the traffic laws, use common sense, and be courteous to officials and fellow road users. REASONS YOU WON’T...

There are less serious offences (like minor vehicle defects or smaller traffic infringements) which shouldn ’t get you arrested. Our advice is: always be friendly, obey the officer ’ s instructions and try to cooperate at all times. This will also help your case (and public evidence) if any matter should end up in court. Traffic officers are trained to look for potential problems; in order to serve and protect the bigger community. So the easiest way to get yourself locked up is to drive drunk or recklessly. Drunk drivers are easy to spot by their erratic or careless way of motoring, while reckless ones are even easier to identify. And with today’s video evidence technology or fast breathalizer tests, once you’re in custody it’s a one-way ticket to a holding cell.

Another punishable offence which people tend to forget is improper behaviour or verbal abuse of an official on duty. Physical violence will immediatly get you arrested while the threat (or mere implication) of harming A traffic official or law enforcement officer may ask you to comply with their wishes. Even if these seem strange (or wrong) at the time, we highly recommend that you obey their command/s. Not listening to, ignoring, arguing or fighting with An expired vehicle license is punishable by fine - in most cases - but we can’t stress enough that you shouldn’t even let any documents expire! That obviously goes for your driver’s license, any special permits or vehicle-specific paperwork. This is an open-and-shut case: if your vehicle is marked as stolen or has been flagged as wanted by local law enforcement, you as the driver will most probably accompany it to a holding pen. If you are buying or borrowing a vehicle and you aren’t sure if it’s stolen, do not take the risk!
