Last year, our team demonstrated incredible talent and determination, finishing third in the highly competitive South Conference of Region 14 and earning a spot in the regional tournament. This achievement is a testament to the hard work of our student-athletes and coaches, and we are looking forward to building on that momentum this season.
We’re excited to introduce our new Whitecaps Head Baseball Coach, Ryne Edmondson, and Assistant Coach, Sam McElreath, who bring a fresh vision and commitment to excellence both on and off the field. Their leadership is already making a difference, as they work to strengthen our program with a focus on athletic performance, academic achievement and personal growth for our student-athletes.
At Galveston College, we take great pride in the success of our student-athletes and their role as ambassadors of our institution and community. This season, we aim to not only compete at the highest level but also continue to uphold our strong tradition of academic success and character development.

2024 in Review
In a thrilling five-game stretch in the NJCAA Division I Region 14 Tournament, Galveston College showcased its resilience and determination with an impressive performance. Despite their best efforts, the Whitecaps fell short in the final game against the Blinn College Buccaneers on May 12, ending their run.
The Whitecaps concluded the regional tournament with a 3-2 record and ended their season with a 34-25 overall record, 19-16 in conference, which included a third-place finish in the Region 14 South Conference. GC’s third-place finish earned them a place in the regional competition.
The Whitecaps’ offense generated 347 runs in 59 games for a team batting average of .251. GC’s home-field advantage paid off as the orange-and-blue racked up a 20-9 record at Bernard Davis Field during the 2024 season.
The Whitecaps’ journey in the regional competition began on May 9 with a nail-biting victory over Tyler Junior College, where GC staged an epic seven-run comeback to defeat the Apaches, 9-8. This hard-fought win set the stage for what would be a series of intense matchups.
Facing off against BC in the second round on May 10, the Whitecaps suffered a setback with a 6-2 loss. However, they quickly regrouped and came back stronger in their next game against TJC, delivering a dominant 11-3 seven-inning victory on May 11.
A few hours later, the Whitecaps faced the Buccaneers in a highly anticipated rematch. Determined to redeem themselves, GC put on a stellar performance, defeating BC, 7-3.
In GC’s fifth game in four days, the stage was set for a dramatic finale as the Whitecaps squared off against the Buccaneers for the third time in the tournament. However, GC struggled to gain momentum, ultimately falling to BC, 11-0, and ending a remarkable five-game run in the regional tournament.

Whitecaps eye the future, ready to build on success
The Galveston College Whitecaps baseball team begins the 2025 season under first-year head coach Ryne Edmondson, who served as the Whitecaps’ assistant coach for the previous three years.
Edmondson looks to bring a fresh and strategic vision to steer the college’s baseball program to an exciting future of competitive excellence.
“We’re very excited to get the season going,” said Edmondson. “Our players had a successful fall both on and off the field. The coaching staff is looking forward to watching our players’ hard work pay off this spring.”
The Whitecaps will participate in a pair of tournaments in the early part of the season, hosting the annual Island Tournament Feb 1-2 for their home-opening weekend and GC will make its second appearance in the Bregman Cares Tournament at Constellation Field in Sugar Land Feb. 7-9.
The Whitecaps will open up conference play at home Feb. 27 and play 35 conference games during the season.
The 2025 edition of the Whitecaps boasts six returning starters in the field from last year’s club, which finished in third place with a 34-25 overall record, 19-16 in the National Junior College Athletic Association DI Region 14 South Conference, and went five games deep into the regional tournament.
“Our position player group brings a good deal of experience and maturity that will help anchor the offense,” said Edmondson.
Coaching Staff
“We are projecting six returning starters in the field from last year. Our pitching staff returns several key pieces from last year’s staff and added some new pitching to fill in both starting and relief spots.”
Among the Whitecaps returning this season are outfielders Zac Daigre, Saul Soto and Seth Williams. Daigre batted .318 in 192 at-bats last year, led the team in stolen bases with 48 and was selected to the Texas-New Mexico All-Star Team. Soto hit .320 and is a consistent and mature hitter who was also an All-Star selection.
Although Williams was injured early last season, the Ball High School graduate will bring a lot of speed to the field and looks to make an impact at the top of the batting order.
Another All-Star and returning starter is infielder Jacob Bulcroft, who batted .301 in conference games last season and is a solid defender and leader in the Whitecaps clubhouse.
Finally, closing pitcher Dylan Vinson returns to the mound for GC and replaces last year’s closer Kade Foulke. Vinson finished the 2024 season with a 2-0 record, a 3.34 ERA, and a 1.34 WHIP.
Two new additions to the Whitecaps roster this season are freshman righty Lucas Moore and freshman infielder Nic Paparella. Moore transferred from the University of TexasSan Antonio and shortstop Paparella played for the Australian National Team prior to arriving in the U.S.
