New North Coffee


Our Coffee is a rich blend of Peruvian, Mexican and Nicaraguan beans

They were selected for the chocolate like flavour profile, which works especially well when consumed cold and nitrogenated

We also choose a coffee blend, over a single origin, as this makes it easier for us to keep the New North taste consistent throughout the year


The Process •

We brew our coffee blend in filtered cold water for 18 hours to produce a smooth, balanced flavour profile that is 65% less acidic than hot brewed coffee

As our cold-brew is canned, we add liquid nitrogen to it at a temperature of -196 Degrees C

The cans are then sealed. As the Liquid Nitrogen warms up, it turns to gas and 1. Infuses into the coffee and 2. expands into the specially designed widget, where it is held under pressure

When the can is opened, you’ll hear a ‘rush’. This is the nitrogen being released from the widget into the coffee, frothing it up, creating New Norths signature smooth, creamy texture and giving you a coffee shop like nitro experience.

The Story •

New North Founder, Christopher, first experienced nitro cold-brew coffee in Venice Beach, USA in 2016.

He loved it and it changed the way he viewed coffee. He came back to the UK and started learning how to make it in his flat in Fulham.

His hobby became an obsession, to create the perfect balance of flavour and nitrogenation.

Everyone who experienced Christopher’s nitro coffee loved the innovative new way of drinking coffee

The reaction people had to nitro cold brew inspired Christopher to look into having his product canned


The Story Part Two •

Christopher learned of a new canning innovation made by a company in Holland. A widget, that could sit inside a can and hold nitrogen under high pressure, until the can is opened. The nitrogen is then released, frothing up the coffee.

Christopher tried for a long time to partner with this company, but with no drinks background or experience, they had no interest.

Christopher decided he needed to show them how serious he was. He partnered with a London based brand design agency called Campbell Hay. The mission was to create a ‘world’ around Nitro Coffee that was so compelling, so impressive, the company in Holland would have to work with him.


The Story Part Three •

This took nearly a year to create, and once Christopher was confident enough in the brand, he persuaded the company in Holland to meet him for just 5 minutes, so he could show them New North.

The meeting lasted for three hours. They LOVED the look and feel of the brand and partnered with Christopher that day.

The New North Adventure had started….



The Brand •

The New North brand name, look, feel and values were inspired by Iceland, where we filmed a wave rushing over black volcanic sand.

The name New North represents a new direction for coffee, as well as challenge, adventure and discovery.

The ‘New North Wave’ shot from a drone in Iceland represents the nitrogen rush you get when you open a can of New North, and the subsequent white froth

What’s Next •

We’re excited to see the brand grow. There are a lot of opportunities in this young and exciting category

Consumers are seeking out healthier products, free from dairy and sugar, so we see the brand growing as consumers become more educated and discerning

We are also excited about supporting adventure sports enthusiasts, and believe New North can become a key player in this market

With two flavoured versions of New North being released this year, the New North Adventure is just getting started
