The market for hobby games (HG) has grown explosively over the past decade, causing the value of HG intellectual property (IP) to increase proportionately. HGs are now common targets for counterfeiters, and the market is awash in fake games. This seminar explains why reliance on unregistered IP is no longer adequate to protect creative investment in HGs, and explains simple and cost-effective ways to improve IP protection of HGs. No stone will be left unturned, as all forms of IP will be discussed, from the ubiquitous copyright to trademarks, trade dress, and design patents. The seminar will consider cost-effective ways to enforce intellectual property, without recourse to costly lawsuits.
