If you could travel back in time to any point in history, where would you go and why?
"I would like to travel to the 1920s-1930s, a period of great scientific advances. I am passionate about physics and astronomy, and that era was marked by figures such as Albert Einstein with the development of quantum mechanics and the theory of relativity. I'm also interested in Edwin Hubble's experiments and theories about the universe's expansion. It was a golden age for science, and I would love to have been able to learn from those giants."
If I gave you a million dollars to invest in technology, what would you use it for and why?
"I wouldn't invest directly in technology, but in technology companies. I am increasingly interested in finance and how businesses achieve success. Technology companies are at the forefront, and by investing in them, you can gain time and freedom, live off the dividends, and achieve economic freedom to work out of passion and not out of obligation."
What song motivates you to be more productive at work?
"There's no specific song, but instrumental covers of pop songs from video games and movies — especially on violin — help me focus. I follow artists like Bond, Lindsey Stirling and Taylor Davis, who use string instruments to adapt pop music in an inspiring way."
If you were an animal, which one would you be and why?
"I would definitely be an eagle. I am fascinated by flying high and having a clear vision to focus on specific details. In addition, the eagle is an imposing and aggressive animal to defend its territory and loved ones. It is a symbol of resilience, especially in its last years, and has few predators. It is a combination of strength and sensitivity that I find admirable."
Which movie or television series influenced your life and why?
"Freaks and Geeks" was a series that profoundly impacted me. I discovered it by chance a few years after its original broadcast, and I often identified with the characters. It reflected people interested in geek topics like me, and it was the first time I saw people with similar interests to mine on screen before they became a trend."
If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
"I would like to have the power to read minds. Many problems arise from a lack of communication and people hiding their feelings. This power would allow me to help others overcome difficult times and foster empathy."
We hope this interview with Daniel Avalos inspires all GAPsters to continue growing and learning in their careers. Thank you, Daniel, for sharing your experience with us!
