A simple man, but highly experienced in the field of politics is the person whom the residents of HSR will now bank on. True. The simple man he is, gauging by his arrival in a two-wheeler (an old scooter) which raised many eye-brows. That apart, his

Ganesh Chaturthi – Good Days are Ahead

anesh Chaturthi is one of the major festivals celebrated in India with great enthusiasm and devotion. The festival marks the birthday of Lord Ganesha; the Lord of knowledge, wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. The festival is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi. This day, observed as one of the most auspicious ones in Hindu religion is << Festivities >> widely celebrated all over India. This year it falls on Thursday, the 17th of September. The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi finds its origin in the Maratha reign, with Chatrapati Shivaji starting the festival. The belief lays in the story of the birth of Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Although there are various stories attached to his birth, the one most relevant is shared here. Goddess Parvati was the creator of Ganpati. She, in the absence of Lord Shiva, used her sandalwood paste to create Ganesha and put him to guard while she had gone for bathing. While

she was gone, Lord Shiva got into a fight with Ganesha as he did not allow him to enter, as per his mother`s orders. Enraged, Lord Shiva cut off Ganesha`s head. When Parvati saw this sight, she took the form of Goddess Kali and threatened to destroy the world. This worried everyone and they requested Lord Shiva to find a solution and calm the rage of Goddess Kali. Shiva then

ordered all his followers to immediately go and find a child whose mother has her back towards her child in negligence and bring his head. The first child seen by the followers was that of an elephant and they, as ordered, cut his head and brought to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva immediately placed the head on Ganesha`s body and brought it to life again. The rage of Maa Kali was

calmed and Goddess Parvati was overwhelmed, once again. All the Lords blessed Ganesha and the day is today celebrated for the same reason. Ganesh Chaturthi preparations commence from almost a month before the festival. The celebrations last for around ten days (from Bhadrapad Shudh Chaturthi to Ananta Chaturdashi). On the first day a clay idol of Lord Ganesha is installed at homes. Houses are decorated with flowers. Temples witness the visit of large number of devotees. Poojas are performed and bhajans are chanted. Often, families gather together to celebrate the festival. Localities organize and arrange for pandals and install large idols of Lord Ganesha to celebrate the festival with friends and family. On the final day of the celebrations, the idol of Lord Ganesha is taken on the streets. People exhibit their enthusiasm and joy in the form of dancing and singing on the streets along with the idol. The idol is finally immersed in the river or sea. The day witnesses a large number of devotees expressing their happiness and offering their prayers.

Ganesha Puja starts from installing a clay idol of Lord Ganesha at home. Various dishes are cooked for offering. The idol is given a bath with pure water and then decorated with flowers. A lamp or Jyoti is lit and then the Aarti begins. Various bhajans, and mantras are chanted at this time. It is believed that chanting the mantras with complete devotion brings life to the idol. It is also believed that during this period, Ganesha visits the home of his devotees and bring prosperity and good fortune with him. For the same reason the day is observed as a very auspicious day. Although there are a large number of sweets offered to Lord Ganesha during the puja, but Modak is known to be the lord`s favourite sweet and is therefore one of the main dishes made on this day. Other dishes include Karanji, Ladu, Barfi and Pede.

But the mandate is out, so let’s look at what enormity of the mess that newly elected Corporator of this ward has on his hands. Roads With over 4238 potholes of various shapes/sizes/depth on 141 kms of road length, the basic road infrastructure is crumbling and needs major surgery. Except for repeated asphalting of roads in the IAS Officers locality and 27th main, roads across HSR have not been asphalted for over 5-10 years. Roads have been the largest source of corruption with multiple billing of the same stretch of asphalted road and

serious safety issues for commuters, women and children. Deadly potholes and lack of streetlight is an open invitation to fatal accidents especially for people using two-wheeler. Garbage & SWD One can pass on the Garbage issue as a common problem across the City & Country, but there has been no effort what so ever to create awareness or to implement segregation at source. When large part of this layout is a well planned BDA layout, it is criminal indeed if even segregated garbage is collected and dumped into the same pile. Storm Water Drains (SWD) both the shoulder inlets and the main Raja Kaluves are to the brim with garbage and silt, with choking and clogging drains a few minutes of rain can flood houses in low lying areas. Education & Health A look at Anganwadi will tell you the plight of the children for the lesser privileged section of the society. Lack of even basic facilities will only suggest that the previous Corporator gave no attention to the poorer section and left them to fend for themselves. These are just some of the key issues out of many; the previous corporator did not even bother about Ward meetings or about setting-up a strong, effective and functioning Ward Committee. There was not even a priority list or a Ward agenda, other than the big talk of ‘Model Ward’ with zero impact on ground. The previous corporator’s interactions were limited to her party workers and the select few in the ward, there by ignoring all the requirements. Is there Hope? Only time will tell, will the newly elected corporator be another puppet in the hands of the MLA or will he show some spine and address the issues that the ward and its citizens are facing? The systems themselves can cost users a lot more. The 2016 Honda Accord EX with manual transmission is the lowest trim on which Honda is offering CarPlay and Android Auto support. Ekta Kapoor throws Imran Khan out of her next venture Ekta Kapoor has replaced Imran Khan with Ayushmann Khurrana in her next production venture, ‘Bhoole Se Naam Na Lo Pyaar Ka’. Ekta throws out Imran from the film due his whopping demand. Imran, who will be next seen in ‘Katti Batti’ opposite Kangana Ranaut demands Rs 3 crore for the film, which Ekta did not agree. Hence, she has signed the ‘Vicky Donor’ actor Ayushmann Khurrana for her forthcoming film. Moreover, Imran Khan wanted Priyanka Chopra opposite him in the film. But director Tigmanshu Dhulia thought that Bhumi Pednekar will better fit the bill. As of now, the ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha jodi’ has been finalised for the leading roles. DNA quoted a source as saying, “Imran wanted Rs 3 crore and it was working out to be a very expensive affair. No distribution team was willing to back such an expensive film, which would have to be sold at a very high price. Moreover, distributors told Balaji there would be no recovery for such a film at the given budget, forcing the Balaji team into doing a rethink on casting”. The source continued, “Bhumi and Ayushmann have been approached and everything is almost finalised. Balaji’s team felt they were best suited to play the lead pair in Bhoole Se..”. Bhoole Se Naam Na Lo Pyaar Ka was earlier titled Milan Talkies. What came more surprising is that Imran Khan is not aware that he was ousted from the film. Incidentally, the actor is also clueless about the film's title being changed from 'Milan Talkies' to 'Bhoole Se Naam...' I was also surprised by the new title, when I'd agreed to do the film, it was 'Milan Talkies'. In my last conversation with Tigmanshu about a month-and-a-half back, I was told that the script was being fine-tuned and developed and he was also tweaking the climax," said Imran. He continued, "We were working on the script and casting but my focus then was on 'Katti Batti'. Now what happened in between, I have not been briefed. All this is news to me." Imran and Ekta had a fallout post the release and debacle of 'Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara' , and as a result he was dropped from 'Milan Talkies'. Subsequently, both reconciled and Imran was signed by Ekta but she ditched him without letting him know. Says he, "I will find that out today. I have asked my team to figure out what happened. Today when I woke up I saw the story. I spoke to Ekta couple of months back. My last meeting was with the director," said Imran, who says that he is no longer surprised by the industry's ways. "I tend not to be surprised by lot of things happening after having seen so many ups and downs in last seven to eight years that I have been in the industry. I have lost my ability to be surprised," he added.

avities, also referred to as tooth decay or caries, are holes in the teeth. Cavities are the second-most common health disorder Cavities usually occur in the teeth of children and young adults, but they can happen at any age. Cavities are a common cause of tooth loss in young people. Causes Cavities are the result of two primary factors: bacteria in the mouth and a high-sugar and starch diet. It is natural to have bacteria in the mouth but it becomes problematic in the case of poor oral hygiene. According to the National Institutes of Health, the mouth's normal bacteria combine with food pieces and saliva to form plaque. Plaque is a sticky, invisible substance that accumulates quickly. Foods rich in sugar or starch make plaque stickier. If plaque stays on the teeth for more than a few days, it gets harder and becomes a substance called tartar. Cavities form when bacteria in plaque and tartar convert sugar into acid. Streptococcus mutans and Strepto-

coccus sobrinus are bacteria especially likely to combine with fermentable carbohydrates like sucrose, fructose and glucose and produce acid. The acid demineralizes the hard structure of the tooth, which over time creates a soft spot, or hole in the tooth called a cavity. After the enamel is worn away, the acid reaches the next layer of the teeth. This layer, called dentin, is softer and susceptible to acid. The bacteria and acid continue to work their way through the tooth, into the pulp, creating a bigger and bigger hole. According to the NIH, cavities are

most commonly found where plaque is highly prevalent, such as on the molars, between teeth, near the gum line, and at the edges of fillings. Symptoms As the cavity progresses, the decay gets near the nerve (pulp) and can cause pain, which gets progressively worse especially with exposure to heat, cold, sweet foods or drinks, If the decay gets large enough, part of the tooth may fracture off, leaving a large visible hole, and the tooth may be sensitive to biting pressure. Bad breath and or a bad taste in the mouth are also symptoms.Cavities on the front teeth are the easiest to see and will look like a brown or black spot. Cavities in other parts of the mouth are often not visible without an X-ray. Prevention Just as there are two factors that cause cavities, there are two main factors to preventing them: oral hygiene and diet change. According to the NIH, good oral hygiene includes brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing at least once, having a professional teeth-cleaning every six months, and having X-rays and a

dental exam annually to detect cavity development. Reducing the amount of sugar â&#x20AC;&#x201D; especially sugary drinks and juices â&#x20AC;&#x201D; can help prevent cavities. You may consider brushing your teeth or rinsing your mouth after eating sticky foods. Minimizing snacking, avoiding constant sipping of sugary drinks, and not sucking on candy or mints can all help, too, because they produce a constant supply of acid in the mouth. Treatment Treatments for cavities include fillings, crowns and root canals. "If the lesion is very small and just beginning, it can be treated with fluoride paste and varnish to help stop the progression of the demineralization. If the cavity is formed, however, there is only one option: to remove the decay and put a filling in its place. If the decay is removed completely and a good filling is placed, the cavity will be gone for a long time, sometimes forever. Though the cavity itself may not return, most people do need to have their fillings replaced several times over a lifetime. Acids in the oral cavity, wear and poor oral

hygiene can cause the fillings to break down, causing micro leakage and subsequent recurrent decay to form. A new treatment? New treatment for cavities may be on the horizon. A process called electrically accelerated and enhanced remineralization (EAER) is being developed in London, this process "accelerates the natural movement of calcium and phosphorous minerals into the cavity to repair it. This process would eliminate drills and injections. It emits tiny electrical currents into the tooth to push the minerals into the repair site. It encourages the tooth to repair itself. This new process could be available by 2017. If your toothache stops, it is still important to see a dentist. Sometimes toothaches stop if the pulp dies, but the infection may still spread.
