e all have the fundamental desire to create an ideal world, where everyone is healthy, happy, and free of suffering. The habitual tendency we all have is to look around us, find out what’s wrong with the world, and then try to “fix” it. While it’s true that horrible things happen around us everyday, to transform the world we all experience, we have to start with ourselves. We can only create change in the world if we first start with our own individual healing. Because our world is our universe or rather our perception of our universe. When we heal a part in ourselves, we also heal that part in the world. When we have problem in our body, it would have been in the mind for a long time before it surfaced in the body. So how about attempting to clear those in our mind ? What is mind ? Mind is used synonymously for consciousness. What is consciousness ? It is made up of layers. The first layer consists of

ow often have you feel the need that someone else should take your car for service? Why do not service centers be more transparent and cost effective? Why we need to budget before we actually service our cars? All these questions bother us more when we stand in the queue of the service center or when we are looking at the exaggerated looking bill from service center. Here is a solution which two young engineers from Bangalore have devised. Automovill is the name which stands for Hassle Free, Transparent and Economic service for your car. They provide the door step pick up/drop, it enabled platform for booking/tracking/payment, transparent service delivery with a very affordable price range. Often arriving at almost 30% - 40% less than the service center price. All this is done without compromising the safety, quality and basic hygiene of the entire service procedure. The team along with the experienced service executives supervise the entire service procedure at
their vendor locations. They also ensure the service delivery is achieved the same high standard which service centers claim to provide. Providing the best and yet optimally priced products makes them competitive in the highly expensive automobile service market. Automovill has its trusted set of vendors through whom the service is done. Automovill in last two years moved around the city and its neighborhood to find the best mechanics with experience and knowledge which customers can bank on. Automovill has started its service all across India in cities like Bangalore, Navi Mumbai, Pune, NCR and Guwahati. The team has a solid experience of handling 5000+ cars so far in its different locations. Services can be availed by calling on the registered number on their website WWW.AUTOMOVILL.COM or simply by booking on the site. The company was started in 2015 by two young engineers from Assam Chinmay Baruah and Mridu Mahendra Das in Bangalore.
Vidya an NGO for integrated Development of Youth & Adults
fter approximately 13 years in the field of software training which involved mostly students and a brief stint with corporates, I decided to volunteer for NGO’s and/or Government schools. A chance introduction about an NGO VIDYA (Vidya Integrated Development for Youth & Adults) through my husband’s company was followed shortly by a meeting with the founder chairperson Ms. Rashmi Misra and the management team of VIDYA during the summer of 2016 at their Mali Centre, Marthahalli.VIDYAhas programmes for Govt school children and also for underprivileged women and girls in the community. With its Beyond School programme, it works out of govt schools taking classes in communicative English, Computers &Life skills forchildren. At VIDYAMali Foundation,it runs the Bhagini programme that caters to the needs of less privileged women and girls belonging to low-income group and helps in their personality and confidence development, employment and income generation. I was happy to know that I did have an opportunity at VIDYA to train students in computers, an area in which I am passionate about. A brief chat with Ms. Sunitha Menon helped me identify where I could contribute. They conduct computer
classes for NIOS (Open Schooling) students and a separate course from NIIT. I decided to volunteer myself for training students who appear for NIOS 10th and 12thboard. I started going to VIDYA from mid-July 2016. I still remember the first day when I was asked to handle computer classes for a bunch of girls. Since most of the girls are not exposed to a formal education system it was and is a real challenge for me to think through and make them understand the concepts, as well as help them in getting to work on the computer on their own with confidence. When compared to the trainings which I had done earlier in my career, I found this more challenging and at the same time satisfying, knowing that I am able to add some value to the lives of girls who really aspire to come into the mainstream of life. Does VIDYAdo only computer training for women? Well there is more to VIDYA. VIDYA with its remarkable journey of 32 years is a registered not-forprofit organisation for the education and empowerment of less privileged children, youth and women through micro-level intervention. VIDYA was founded in 1985 by Rashmi Misra, who taught a class of five girls in her home on the campus of IIT Delhi. VIDYA has now expandedto offer

At Mali Centre, they conductvarious Academic and Vocational courses. Under academic they conduct Spoken English course, Computer Literacy course (NIIT Intel computer course), NIOS and NTT (Nursery Teachers Training : a tie up is being done with The Bangalore School who are affiliated with All India Early

Yes Vidya is not a regular school, but a place which helps in regularizing the lives of many less privileged girls and women. These women are none other than our cooks, maids who help us keep our home clean, a daughter or wife of our driver or one amongthe ground staff of our gated community. By spreading the word about VIDYA and its activities we can help these women discover themselves which in turn empowers them. Mysore Paintings are known for Elegace and Bright Colours
T
h i s distinct form of painting evolved from the paintings of the Vijayanagar Empire (13361565 AD). Over the years, they kept absorbing the local artistic traditions and customs and the Vijayanagar School of Painting gradually evolved into many styles of painting in South India, including the Mysore and Tanjore schools of painting. After the death of Tipu Sultan 1799 AD, the state was restored back to the Wodeyars of Mysore who helped in ushering a new era by reviving the ancient traditions of Mysore by extending their patronage. Mysore paintings are known for their elegance, muted colours, bright gold, and attention to detail. The themes for most of these paintings are Hindu gods and goddesses and scenes from Hindu mythology. There are many portraits of the Mysore rulers, important people of those times and self portraits of the artists themselves done in this style under the ruler’s request. The ancient painters prepared their own materials. The drawings were
sketched using straight burnt twigs of the tamarind tree. The colours were sourced from vegetable, mineral and organic origins such as leaves, stones and flowers. For example the green colour is made from lemon juice. The juice is first squeezed from lemons, strained and kept in Copper Pots. These pots are then buried in the ground for a few days. This allows the lemon juice to turn into their characteristic green colour. Traditionally Gold dust or bhasma was used for the jewellery. The gold foil is also used sometimes. The brushes for this painting were made with squirrel hairs for delicate work. Superfine lines were drawn using a brush made of pointed blades from a special variety of grass. The base of the painting is done on board, paper or cloth. The Gesso work used in Mysore paintings is a paste mixture of lead, gumbose and glue. The painting is done following a particular order of steps. Once the painting is dry, the glazing is done by covering the painting with a thin layer of paper. Later this is rubbed over using a soft glazing stone called as Kaslupada Kallu. When the thin paper is removed this way, the painting shines brightly with beautiful colours and gold work.

Green coffee bean extract is the most talked about weight loss supplements in the world. It is the unroasted form of coffee bean that contains a high amount of chlorogenic acid. Research shows that chlorogenic acid inhibits visceral fat accumulation, has anti-inflammatory and cardiovascular protective properties, and increases insulin sensitivity (1). Moreover, green coffee extract has a lesser amount of caffeine as compared to coffee. But the weight loss claims of green coffee extract is highly contested. And any controversial supplement or food can raise curiosity and concern amongst those who want to use it for weight loss. So, I did a little digging to find out if green coffee extract for weight loss is a fact or faux. Read on to know if you should consider consuming it or drop the plan. The unroasted coffee bean is the green coffee bean. These beans are soaked and concentrated for creating the extract. On the other hand, the coffee that you generally drink is roasted and processed, which is why it looks dark brown in color and has a different aroma. Green coffee extract also tastes much different than coffee. This is the reason why it is not much appealing to coffee enthusiasts. However, green coffee can aid weight loss. Or, is that just a myth? Let’s find out next.Coffee beans are a great
source of two phytochemicals – caffeine and chlorogenic acid. Chlorogenic acid is the one that has weight loss properties. However, roasting the coffee bean can destroy the chlorogenic acid, which is why green coffee extract is suitable for those who want to lose weight. Researchers have found that chlorogenic acid can help improve insulin sensitivity by downregulating the genes responsible for inflammation-induced weight gain and galanin-mediated adipogenesis (2). Chlorogenic acid can also prevent fat absorption and boost fat metabolism in the liver, thereby aiding weight loss (3). Green coffee extract can also help lower blood sugar and keep insulin spikes in check (4). Apart from improving fat metabolism, chlorogenic acid also normalizes the obesity-related hormones (5). Chlorogenic acid has also been found to lower plasma triglyceride and cholesterol levels in mice (6). Finally, chloro-
genic acid also helps in weight loss by decreasing the absorption of sugar (7).So, it is clear from all the studies mentioned above that green coffee bean targets the root causes of weight gain and therefore can be a potential weight loss agent. Green coffee is marketed in various forms. Find out which form of green coffee is convenient for you to drink.Simple and quick to prepare, you can enjoy a cup of soluble green coffee just by adding water to a teaspoon of green coffee powder. There are three types of soluble green coffee that are marketed – powdered, freeze dried, and granulated. The powdered coffee is produced by crushing the green coffee beans in hot water under pressure. Freeze-dried green coffee is the best quality soluble green coffee. It is produced by freezing strong coffee infusions and vacuuming to dehydrate the coffee crystals. Granular coffee is created by accumulating coffee powder and using steam to form pellets. Though soluble coffee can be prepared instantly, it has more caffeine content. So, green coffee extract might be a great alternative to soluble coffee. Read the next section to find out more.

unhealthy pallor. Pink toned blush would make your cheeks look rosy like that of a baby. If you desire a warmer look, try a plum colored blush. To work with the blush, apply three tiny dots of the powder blush in the middle of the apple of your cheeks. Using a large, round brush, blend it with the skin in a circular motion. You can also try bronzer with a blue dress. Draw two tiny streaks under your cheekbones with the bronzing powder. Using the brush, blend it with straight strokes upward and towards the ear. It adds a pearly glow while highlighting your facial structure. Your eye should speak volumes with an alluring blue dress. You must remember that feminine eyes work really well with a powerful and gender-neutral color like blue. Metallic, smokey eyes with wing tips or cat eyes are some examples of classic eye makeup for blue dress that works up a magic. If you are already wearing a hard blue like navy, the metallic component in your eyes could be gold or champagne. However, if you are going to make your eye a focal point, try to play down your cheeks and base to avoid the costume look. If you are wearing cool blue, try to add green or blue in your eyes. Similarly, warm blue dress calls for purple or teal. Although of the same family, the colors shouldn’t be exactly the same shade. Apply light colored eye paint over your entire eyelid. Now take a shade darker shadow and with an angled, stiff brush, apply it on the outer edge of the eye in a V-shape to start off the cat eye shape. Blend the shadow towards the crease and also apply on

Psoriasis Symptoms, Causes, and its Treatment
P
soriasis is an autoimmune disorder where rapid skin cell reproduction results in raised, red and scaly patches of skin. It is not contagious. It most commonly affects the skin on the elbows, knees, and scalp, though it can appear anywhere on the body. Who Can Get Psoriasis? Anyone can have psoriasis. About 7.5 million people in the U.S. are affected, and it occurs equally in men and women. Psoriasis can occur at any age but is most often diagnosed between the ages of 15 to 25. It is more frequent in Caucasians. Psoriasis is a non-curable, chronic skin condition and there will be periods where the condition will improve, and other times it will worsen. The symptoms can range from mild, small, faint dry skin patches where a person may not suspect they have a skin condition to severe psoriasis where a person's entire body may be nearly covered with thick, red, scaly skin plaques. What Causes Psoriasis? The cause of psoriasis is unknown but a number of risk factors are suspected. There seems to be a genetic predisposition to inheriting the illness, as psoriasis is often found in family members. Environmental factors may play a part in conjunction with the immune system. The triggers for psoriasis – what causes certain people to develop it – remain unknown. What Does Psoriasis Look Like? Psoriasis usually appears as red or pink plaques of raised, thick, scaly skin. However it can also appear as small flat bumps, or large thick plaques, ,. It most commonly affects the skin on the elbows, knees, and scalp, though it can appear anywhere
on the body. The following slides will review some of the different types of psoriasis. Psoriasis Vulgaris The most common form of psoriasis that affects about 80% of all sufferers
is psoriasis vulgaris ("vulgaris" means common). It is also referred to as plaque psoriasis because of the well-defined areas of raised red skin that characterize this form. These raised red plaques have a flaky, silverwhite buildup on top called scale, made up of dead skin cells. The scale loosens and sheds frequently. Guttate Psoriasis Psoriasis that has small, salmon-pink colored drops on the skin is guttate psoriasis, affecting about 10% of people with psoriasis. There is usually a fine silver-white buildup (scale) on the drop-like lesion that is finer than the scale in plaque psoriasis. This type of psoriasis if commonly triggered by a streptococcal (bacterial) infection. About two to three weeks following a bout of strep throat, a person's lesions may erupt. This outbreak can go away and may never recur. Inverse Psoriasis Inverse psoriasis (also called intertriginous psoriasis) appears as very red lesions in body skin folds, most commonly under the breasts, in the armpits, near the genitals, under the buttocks, or in abdominal folds. Sweat and skin rubbing together irritate these inflamed areas. Pustular Psoriasis Pustular psoriasis consists of well-defined, white pustules on the
skin. These are filled with pus that is non-infectious. The skin around the bumps is reddish and large portions of the skin may redden as well. It can follow a cycle of redness of the skin, followed by pustules and scaling.
Erythrodermic Psoriasis Erythrodermic psoriasis is a rare type of psoriasis that is extremely inflammatory and can affect most of the body's surface causing the skin to become bright red. It appears as a red, peeling rash that often itches or burns. Psoriasis of the Scalp Psoriasis commonly occurs on the scalp, which may cause fine, scaly skin or heavily crusted plaque areas. This plaque may flake or peel off in clumps. Scalp psoriasis may resemble seborrheic dermatitis, but in that condition the scales are greasy. Psoriatic Arthritis Psoriatic arthritis is a type of arthritis (inflammation of the joints) accompanied by inflammation of the skin (psoriasis). Psoriatic arthritis is an autoimmune disorder where the body's defenses attack the joints of the body causing inflammation and pain.
Psoriatic arthritis usually develops about 5 to 12 years after psoriasis begins and about 5-10% of people with psoriasis will develop psoriatic arthritis. Can Psoriasis Affect Only My Nails? In some cases, psoriasis may involve only the fingernails and toenails, though more commonly nail symptoms will accompany psoriasis and arthritis symptoms. The appearance of the nails may be altered and affected nails may have small pinpoint pits or large yellow-colored separations on the nail plate called "oil spots." Nail psoriasis can be hard to treat but may respond to medications taken for psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis. Treatments include topical steroids applied to the cuticle, steroid injections at the cuticle, or oral medications. Is Psoriasis Curable? Right now there is no cure for psoriasis. The disease can go into remission where there are no symptoms or signs present. Current research is underway for better treatments and a possible cure. Is Psoriasis Contagious? Psoriasis is not contagious even with skin-to-skin contact. You cannot catch it from touching someone who has it, nor can you pass it on to anyone else if you have it. Can I Pass Psoriasis on to My
Children? Psoriasis can be passed on from parents to children, as there is a genetic component to the disease. Psoriasis tends to run in families and often this family history is helpful in making a diagnosis. What Kind of Doctor Treats Psoriasis? There are several types of doctors who may treat psoriasis. Dermatologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of psoriasis. Rheumatologists specialize in the treatment of joint disorders, including psoriatic arthritis. Family physicians, internal medicine physicians, rheumatologists, dermatologists, and other medical doctors may all be involved in the care and treatment of patients with psoriasis. Home Treatment for Psoriasis There are some home remedies that may help minimize outbreaks or reduce symptoms of psoriasis: • Exposure to sunlight. • Apply moisturizers after bathing to keep skin soft. • Avoid irritating cosmetics or soaps. • Do not scratch to the point you cause bleeding or excessive irritation. • Over-the-counter cortisone creams can reduce itching of mild psoriasis. A dermatologist may prescribe an ultraviolet B unit and instruct the patient on home use. Medical Treatment – Topical Agents The first line of treatment for psoriasis includes topical medications applied to the skin. The main topical treatments are corticosteroids (cortisone creams, gels, liquids, sprays, or ointments), vitamin D-3
slows the production of skin cells and reduces inflammation and can help reduce psoriasis symptoms in some people and artificial light therapy may be used for other people. Sunlamps and tanning booths are not proper substitutes for medical light sources. There are two main forms of light therapy: • Ultraviolet B (UV-B) light therapy is usually combined with topical treatments and is effective for treating moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. There is a risk of skin cancer, just as there is from natural sunlight. PUVA therapy combines an orally administered psoralen drug that makes the skin more sensitive to light and the sun, with ultraviolet A (UV-A) light therapy. 85% of patients report relief of disease symptoms with 20-30 treatments. Therapy is usually given 2-3 times per week on an outpatient basis, with maintenance treatments every 2-4 weeks until remission. Nausea, itching, and burning are side effects. Complications include sensitivity to the sun, sunburn, skin cancer, and cataracts. Medical Treatment – Systemic Agents (Drugs Taken Within the Body) If topical treatment and phototherapy have been tried and have failed, medical treatment for psoriasis includes systemic drugs taken either orally or by injection. Drugs including methotrexate, adalimumab (Humira), ustekinumab (Stelara), secukinumab (Cosentyx), ixekizumab (Taltz), and infliximab (Remicade) block inflammation to help slow skin cell growth. Systemic drugs may be recommended for people with psoriasis that is disabling in any physical, psychological, social, or economic way. What Is
derivatives, coal tar, anthralin, or retinoids. These drugs may lose potency over time so often they are rotated or combined. Ask you doctor before combining medications, as some drugs should not be combined. Medical Treatment – Phototherapy (Light Therapy) Ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun
the Long-Term Prognosis in Patients With Psoriasis? The prognosis for patients with psoriasis is good. Though the condition is chronic and is not curable, it can be controlled effectively in many cases. Studies for future treatments look promising and research to find ways to battle psoriasis is ongoing.
