HSR Sec 3 RWA Shows Grit and Commitment on Twin Park

fter rendering a yeomen service by seniors like H M Javali and members like C V Ramesh, leading the way, the newly elected office bearers have taken a task on hand so seriously towards the uplift of sector 3, that they have taken a oath to continue the good work left behind. In just over a month of taking charge as Office Bearers and the Executive Committee Members, have shown the way by taking the responsibility of maintaining the twin park which was almost in shambles in double quick time to give the much needed facelift. The park as it stands now is worth to be mentioned as a decorated piece of land where one can see a spurge of residents making use of the park for their morning and evening relaxations. Kids can be seen playing with glee which was nonexistent some time back, when it was almost branded as a weeds land. The parks that are supposed to be maintained by the BBMP was given a step-motherly treatment with fear of

took-over in late August 2015 are listed below. The entire work amounting to Rs. 50,000/- was spearheaded and completed under the stewardship of the new Park Development Head, DeviKumar S K. The entire cost was completely funded by Devikumar, the new Office Bearers (Sadashiva Reddy, Narayanaswami, KP Chandrashekar Series of Improvements that have Reddy, Prahalad, Pradeep Gowda) been already implemented in Twin and the EC members along with Park at Sector-3 since little over a many well-wishers of sector 3, month after the new Office Bearers without any help expected and
received from BBMP. Sector 3 has to be lauded for the efforts and initiative action taken in such quick time to ensure provision of lung space to the residents of this sector and also making way for the children to use the play area. The entire park was in such a shabby condition that one would not venture entering it for the walks in the mornings or in the evenings. Sans illumination the area was a nightmare. Poodles of water stagnating near the entrance would prevent entry too.
The work commenced from cutting, trimming and removal of bushes and weeds. Stone benches are now installed at each corner along the middle path of the park along with four polished benches for meditation and granite benches at the centre Mantapa. The muddy, slushy area at the entrance is now cemented for easy movement. The gates of the park, the Mantapa, name boards (apart from the BBMP board) and lamp posts are painted to longevity and rid of rust. << Continued on Pg 2 >>

oes the name Moti Mahal ring a name? Yes, it is the same old Moti Mahal Hotel in Delhi. This chain of Moti Mahal hotels is itself a proof of the quality and genuinity of the eateries that are served. People throng the hotel across the country, where it has over 100 successfully running outlets and 20 others around the globe. The name is so popular for the fact that it is now 95 years old, making a beginning in Peshawar, Pakistan in the year 1920, though it was later to become a brand of itself in Delhi after the partition, making its first presence felt at Daryaganj. An innovator, Mr. Kundan Lal Gujral has the right kind of aesthetics to suit all the taste buds. He was the first to introduce the taste of a Tandoori to the people of Peshawar to name it ‘Tandoori Chicken’, now one of the most famous and wanted delicacy. He is also credited of being the first to introduce the Indian palate to Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani. HSR layout is now playing host to one of its outlets, though a franchise, started by Swathi Apparaju and Archana Dharani. Come December, 2015, it will complete its one year of

While one of them had an innings of franchise of multiple restaurants in USA, the other partner has just moved in to India recently after 15 years in the US. They dreamt of starting a venture In Bangalore and decided on starting a hotel since Swathi wanted to have the taste of Delhi to be smitten by the Bangaloreans. Thus was born the franchise of Moti ahal in HSR layout on 27th main road. The first outlet started at Hebbal. Their entire staff is trained at Moti

Their most popular items are Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken and Daal Makhani and are being patronized by people from HSR Layout and surrounding areas like Bellandur, Kasavanahalli,Harlur Road and Sarjapur Road peaking at dinner on Saturdays and Sundays specially. The message from the entrepreneurs is “HSR Residents, we welcome you to come and savor the taste of Punjabi and Mughlai food with a legacy of over 94 years right here in Bangalore. We assure you that you will not be disappointed”.

ollowing incessant rain for two days, HSR witnessed an ill-maintained a manhole gushing sewage on to the road, emanating filthy and foul stinking odour polluting the area. When Garden City Plus contacted BWSSB, pat came the reply accusing the rain God and the cable laying workers who, it is alleged that they damage the sewage pipes connected to these man hole chambers. The cable laying workers are attached to the various private telecom operators who do a reckless job and the
BWSSB has to take the blame, Pillappa of BWSSB said. Two man hole chambers in close proximity were the ones that were over flowing making life miserable. The laying of cables have to be done with strict
supervision by the civic bodies else, permission should not be granted to these private operators lest the entire system is spoiled. The cable laying workers go on with their work during nights so that the
shoddy and shabby work of theirs goes un-noticed. After laying the cables, they do not even to bother to cover the portion that is dug properly, which leads to such mis-happenings, he added. The above picture illustrates our
correspondent speaking to Pillappa, Marappa and Thripal, all three of them working with BWSSB. They are venting their anger on the private telecom operators who are responsible for the laying of the cables and leaving the areas dug open.
Foot Paths or Weed Paths? The Hanging Gardens of HSR

hat an innovative method the residents of HSR have adopted to show their lethargy in disposing of waste? This is the most disgusting scenario witnessed in recent times. It shows sheer negligence on the part of the residents who are not even willing to dispose the waste at the time the garbage collectors arrive at their door steps. Are we not the ones throwing tantrums at the civic agencies at the drop of a hat for dereliction of duty? Are we not responsible citizens? Do we not have even that much time to hand over the packets to the collectors? Now where is the segregation done at source? We only preach. It is time that the citizens become more responsible marching towards having this ward more cleaner. Are we heading to Swatcha HSR at all? Leave alone Swatcha Bharath.
W
ith little or no space left, there is absolutely no way pedestrians can use the pavements meant for the purpose as these are invaded by the ever fast growing weeds making it difficult to use as a foot path. Adding to the woes, the trees planted right in the middle of the pavements act
as hurdles. This only goes to prove that the pavements have to be wider to enable walking on them. The civic authorities have to gear themselves and pay attention to mow down these weeds on a regular basis in HSR layout. The respective RWAs too have take the matter with the agency.

Animal Fact - Elephant
Elephants are the biggest land animals in the world. The African elephant is found on the continent of Africa and the Indian elephant is found in Asia. Elephants are mammals as well as herbivores, meaning they only eat plants rather than meat. Types of Elephants: There are two main types of elephants: the African elephant and the Indian elephant. An elephant's skin can be up to one inch thick, but it is also very sensitive. The biggest elephant ever weighed 24,000 pounds and was 13 feet tall. They can hear each other's calls up to 5 miles away. Male elephants, or bulls, live alone once they become adults. However, the females, or cows, live in tight family groups led by the oldest female, called a matriarch. They have poor eyesight, but excellent hearing and sense of smell. Contrary to popular belief, elephants don't really like peanuts. They will throw sand and dirt on their backs to keep from getting sunburned. An elephant is smart enough to recognize itself in a mirror. Elephants are considered very intelligent. They have very sophisticated social structures and methods of communication. They also are very skilled with tools and can be trained for all sorts of tasks. Maybe there is some truth to the saying that "an elephant never forgets".

the evergreen actor Dev Anand. Sung by the Mohit Chauhan who became the voice of Ranbir in the latter’s film ‘Rockstar’, it is a very peppy track with feel-good music composed by Academy Award winning musician A R Rahman. Irshad Kamil, who has penned the lyrics, has cleverly included names of some hit movies and songs of Dev Anand in the verse of the song. The song has the elements of a love song and Afro-Caribbean beats to it. The beautiful visuals, breathtaking coastlines and rocks of the island nation of Corsica add to the romance of the song. The sparkling chemistry between the lead actors stands out in the song. Ranbir and Deepika have exhibited their crackling on-screen chemistry in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ and will scorch the screens once again in ‘Tamasha’. In ‘Tamasha’ Ranbir plays the role of a regular professional Dev bound by social conventions. He comes across Deepika’s Tara, an effervescent girl, during a trip to Corsica. They form a troupe and stage plays – ‘tamashas’ and nautankis’ and eventually fall in love. But, later Tara discovers that Dev is actually not the kind of person she has loved. ‘Tamasha’ is set to hit theatres on November 27.

home buyers can now get more loan for property up to rs 30 lakh Banks can now provide home loans up to 90 per cent for properties that cost Rs 30 lakh or below, RBI said. Earlier, the facility was available only in cases where the cost was up to Rs 20 lakh. This will benefit those home seekers who plan to buy properties in the range of Rs 20-30 lakh. The RBI's decision comes in the wake of all major banks reducing interest rate on home loans. The Reserve Bank, through a circular, said that in the case of 'individual housing loans' falling under the loan category of up to Rs 30 lakh, the LTV (Loan to Value) ratio is now up to 90 per cent. For properties above Rs 30 lakh and up to Rs 75 lakh, the LTV is up to 80 per cent and those above Rs 75 lakh, the
ratio comes in at 75 per cent. It has also modified the provisioning or risk-weights norms for home loans. PTI

migraine is usually a severe headache felt as a throbbing pain at the front or side of the head. Some people also have other symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting and increased sensitivity to light or sound. Migraine is a common health condition, affecting around one in every five women and around one in every 15 men. They usually begin in early adulthood. There are several types of migraine, including: • migraine with aura – where there are warning signs before the migraine begins, such as seeing flashing lights • migraine without aura – where the migraine occurs without warning signs • migraine aura without headache, also known as silent migraine – where an aura or other migraine symptoms are experienced, but a headache does not develop Some people have migraines frequently, up to several times a week. Other people only have a migraine occasionally. It is possible for years to pass between migraine attacks. Read more about the symptoms of migraine. When to seek medical advice You should see your GP if you have frequent or severe migraine symptoms that cannot be controlled with over the counter painkillers. You should also make an appointment to see your GP if you have frequent migraines (on more than five days a month), even if they can be controlled with medication, as you may benefit from preventative treatment. You should call 999 for an ambulance immediately if you or someone you are with experiences: • paralysis or weakness in one or both arms and/or one side of the face • slurred or garbled speech • a sudden agonising headache resulting in a blinding pain unlike anything experienced before • headache along with a high temperature (fever), stiff neck, mental confusion, seizures, double vision and a rash These symptoms may be a sign of a more serious condition, such as astroke or meningitis, and should be assessed by a doctor as soon as possible. Read more about diagnosing migraines. What causes migraines? The exact cause of migraines is unknown, although they are thought to be the result of temporary changes in the chemicals and blood vessels in the brain. Around half of all people who experience migraines also have a close relative with the condition, suggesting that genes may play a role. Some people find migraine attacks are associated with certain triggers, which can include starting their period, stress, tiredness and certain foods or drinks. Read more about the causes of migraines. How migraines are treated There is no cure for migraines, but there are a number of treatments available to help reduce the symptoms. These include: • painkillers – including over the counter medicationssuch asparacetamol and ibuprofen • triptans – medications that can help reverse the changes in the brain that may cause migraines • anti-emetics – medications often used to reduce nausea and vomiting During an attack, many people find that sleeping or lying in a darkened room can also help. Read more about treating migraines. Preventing migraines If you suspect a specific trigger is causing your migraines, such as stress or a certain type of food, avoiding this trigger may help reduce your risk of experiencing migraines. It may also help to maintain a generally healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, sleep and meals, as well as ensuring you stay well hydrated and limiting your intake of caffeine and alcohol. If your migraines are severe or you have tried avoiding possible triggers and you are still experiencing symptoms, your GP may prescribe medication to help prevent further attacks. Medications used to prevent migraines include the anti-seizure medication topiramate and a medication called propranolol that is usually used to treat high blood pressure. Migraines can severely affect your quality of life and stop you carrying out your normal daily activities. Some people find they need to stay in bed for days at a time. However, a number of effective treatments are available to reduce the symptoms and prevent further attacks. Migraine attacks can sometimes get worse over time, but they tend to gradually improve over many years for most people. A migraine is usually felt as a throbbing pain at the front or side of the head.
