Editorial HSR had Long Back Come of Age Not along while ago, HSR was in sort of a mess with factions among the associations. The going has been good with the respective RWAs doing its job on its own with aplomb. But collectiveness was lacking. All is well now. The Federation of the RWAs in HSR had been functioning on its own and also performing though it had not come to the forefront. Garden City Plus insisted to meet the OBs of the Federation. The Federation should bolster the arms of the respective RWAs by its contribution towards the development of the area. It has already started its work and is organizing events pertaining to it. Not that the erstwhile federation was not working. The result is there for all to see. Mr. BNR Reddy, the Ex-Chairman of the Federation has indeed done a commendable job in ensuring the budget being sanctioned for the opening of the separate traffic police station for HSR. This has now become a reality. It can now take pride in saying that the Iblur station is the handiwork of the associations of not only sectors 1, 2, 3 and 4, but contributions from the other three sectors 5, 6 and 7 too are to be taken note of. HSR is one layout which can be proud of having seven active associations which are all performing. It had come of age after fighting for all its needs right from scratch to what it is today. In fact, today, these associations are a force to reckon with in our Country. The Federation is an umbrella for these seven associations and would have to lend its hand and reach out to the respective associations to get their problems solved and the vice versa is that the associations concerned, will have to strengthen the Federation by its full fledged support. This will ensure smooth functioning of both and shall yield results in quick time. Editor - T Ramesh

BMTC to Introduce 3 New Services at HSR from Nov 14
F
ollowing the success of ‘Open street’ initiative to promote use of public transport, an increase in usage of the public transport was indeed observed. The Federation of RWAs in HSR, took up the matter with a great zeal and enthusiasm to ensure more BMTC bus services are pumped in and around HSR to ply within and also to other areas of destinations connecting HSR. Subsequent to the assurance from the Transport Minister, Ramalinga Reddy, during the programme, ‘Open
layout covering all sectors with a frequency of 25 minutes. Six Volvo bus shall ply between HSR and ITPL with a frequency of 30 minutes starting from 7.30 am and six Volvo services to Electronics City and back with a frequency of 30 minutes starting from 7.30 am. The inauguration of the router services is on the 14th of November. It is now up to the residents to make use of the services and ensure good number of people commute in order to make the route viable to BMTC to not discontinue as done earlier. Office going people, businessmen and senior citizens can now heave a sigh of relief.
<< Civic Issue >> Street’, the federation followed it up with the officials concerned and were victorious in getting at least 3 additional service routes to and from HSR. Post ‘Open Street’, the residents of HSR have inclined to use the public transport more frequently than earlier. The Federation did not lose time on this observation and immediately
Garden City Plus took the necessary action for the benefit of these people who are depended on public transport and those who have shun their private vehicles preferring to use buses.
The effort has fructified and the residents should well be rejoicing of the facility. Four Corona buses shall ply between Agara and Silk Board within HSR

H
SR Sectors 1, 2, 3 and 4 is all set to have its Traffic Police Station at Iblur very soon. This Police Station shall cater to a part of HSR and Iblur and its adjoining areas as it is now stationed there. Sectors 5, 6 and 7 come under Madivala Police Station’s jurisdiction. The Federation of RWAs in HSR has speeded its momentum in the uplift of the facilities to the residents of HSR it seems, by their speedy actions. Mr. BNR Reddy, Ex-Chairman of the Federation had taken a lot of interest in getting the budget allotted for the provision of a separate Traffic Police station for HSR sectors 1, 2, 3 and 4 along with its neighbourhood by following up with the Commissioner of Police, the DGP and the previous Commissioner of Police Mr. Raghavendra Auradkar, after his visit in 2014 when this request for a separate traffic out post was put before him. All the seven Residents Welfare Associations have had their share of contribution in this. Each of these associations had their task cut out in formulating the allocation of work and had taken it forward in an unified manner. This speaks volumes of the entire layout being considered as one when it comes to a problem of even one sector. Each association went about doing its part to successfully have its traffic station separately for better output. Garden City Plus spoke to the HSR and Madivala Traffic Police and was informed that though the Traffic Police Station has started functioning from Samudhaya Bhavan, Iblur, on outer ring road, a formal inauguration is yet to be announced. On query, Dr. Ravindran, General Secretary, Federation of RWAs in HSR said that it will now take up the issues relating to the traffic bottlenecks in the layout in consultation with the respective associations.

he Federation of RWAs in HSR is organizing a talk on the ‘Present Day Civic Mess and Citizens participation’ to be delivered by Mr. Ravichandar, Civic Expert, on the 8th November, Sunday, between 11am and 12 noon at Ganesha Temple auditorium, Sector 1, HSR. Today, HSR is going through a bad phase so far as the civic issues are concerned. So much so, plenty more of them are in the kitty to be addressed one by one. Hence the timing could not be perfect then this to learn and understand the city is going through in the cesspool of civic issues. The need of the hour is also the participation from the residents too if an area has to be devoid of civic problems. It is riddled with many such problems to be solved. No better person than a civic expert can guide on the methods of handling such crisis. Ravichandar shall deliver a speech on the solutions for issues with the residents participation.

Diwali is Celebrated on Victory of Good Over Evil
Diwali or Deepavali, the "festival of lights" is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn (northern hemisphere) or Spring (southern hemisphere) every year. Diwali is one of the most important and brightest festivals in India. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of good over evil. The preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, New Moon night of the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika. In the Gregorian calendar, Diwali falls between mid-October and mid-November. Diwali is an important festival for Hindus. the festivities start with Dhanteras (in Northern & Western part of India), followed by Naraka Chaturdasi on second day, Deepavali on the third day, Diwali Padva dedicated to wife–husband relationship on the fourth day, and festivities end with Bhau-beej dedicated to sister–brother bond on the fifth day.
Dhanteras usually falls eighteen days after Dussehra. Diwali dates back to ancient times in India, as a festival after the summer harvest in the Hindu calendar month of Kartika. The festival is mentioned in Sanskrit scriptures such as the Padma Purana, the Skanda Purana both completed in second half of 1st millennium AD but believed to have been expanded from a core text from an earlier era. The diyas (lamps) are mentioned in Skanda Purana to symbolically represent parts of sun, the cosmic giver of light and energy to all life, who seasonally transitions in the Hindu calendar month of Kartik.
Hindus in some regions of India associate Diwali with the legend of Yama and Nachiketa on Kartika Amavasya (Diwali night). The Nachiketa story about right versus wrong, transient wealth versus true wealth, ignorance versus knowledge is recorded in Katha Upanishad
composed in 1st millennium BC. King Harsha in the 7th century Sanskrit play Nagananda mentions Deepavali as Deepapratipadutsava, where lamps were lit and newly engaged brides and grooms were given gifts. Rajasekhara referred to Deepavali as Dipamalika in his 9th century Kavyamimamsa, wherein he mentions the tradition of homes being whitewashed and oil lamps decorating homes, streets and markets in the night. The Persian traveler and historian Al Biruni, in his 11th century memoir on India, wrote Deepavali being celebrated by Hindus on New Moon day of the month of

Kartika There is significant variation in regional practices and rituals. Depending on the region, prayers are offered before one or more deities, with most common being Lakshmi – the Goddess of wealth and prosperity. On Diwali night, fireworks light up
the neighborhood skies. Later, family members and invited friends celebrate the night over food and sweets. Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs to mark different historical events, stories or myths but they all symbolise the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, hope over despair. The Yoga, Vedanta, and Samkhya schools of Hindu philosophy share the belief that there is something beyond the physical body and mind which is pure, infinite, and eternal, called the Atman. The celebration of Diwali as the "victory of good over
evil" refers to the light of higher knowledge dispelling all ignorance, the ignorance that masks one's true nature, not as the body, but as the unchanging, infinite reality. With this awakening comes compassion and the awareness of the oneness of all things, and knowledge overcomes ignorance. Diwali is the celebration of this inner light over spiritual darkness, knowledge over ignorance, right over wrong, good over evil. On this festive occasion, Hindu, Jain and Sikh communities also mark charitable causes, kindness, and for peace. For example, at the international border, every year on Diwali, Indian forces approach Pakistani forces and offer traditional Indian sweets on the occasion of Diwali. The Pakistani soldiers anticipating the gesture return the goodwill with an assortment of Pakistani sweets. Known as Diwali in Karnataka, it is celebrated on the day before and day following Amavasye (New Moon Day) as Naraka Chaturdashi (before
new-moon day) resembling Satyabhama's victory over Narakasura and as Bali Padyami, the first day of Kartikamasa. The entire house is cleaned and new clothes are purchased for the entire family which is followed by lighting of oil lamps around the house and bursting firecrackers. The tradition in Kannada families is that all members gather together for the three days celebration. The thirteenth day of the Krishna Paksha is celebrated as "neeru tumbo habba" when the house is cleaned, painted afresh and the vessels are washed, bedecked and filled with fresh water for the festival. The next day is Naraka
Chaturdashi, considered very auspicious. In parts of North Karnataka, the women of the house perform Aarti on the men. The next day is Lakshmi mahaapooje on Amavaasye (new-moon day). On the fourth day, the house, especially the entrance, is decorated with flowers and floor decorations to invite Bali into their homes. A special entrance to the home is built, made out of cow-dung (gomaya) and Sandalwood (siri-chandana). Both materials are revered in Kannada tradition as having divine significance. The day is of special importance to agricultural families as they celebrate Govardhan Pooja on this day. Fire-camps are kindled on both Naraka Chaturdashi and Bali Padyami days of Deepavali. The celebration of Deepavali is marked by the lighting of lamps in every courtyard and the bursting of firecrackers. Kajjaya is a special Deepavali delicacy in Banalore region. Holiges and Chakkulis are prepared in all households.

He announced that the area is about 15 acres and 29 guntas, now reduced to hardly around 5 acres. He accused the land grabbers for this shrinkage of the tank. It was also made known that despite him requesting the BBMP and other related authorities (after he became a MP)to hand over the tank to him to enable him to maintain and treat it, there is still no response from any one of these departments. This has irked him. This drew a loud round of applause from the crowd. It was equally interesting for the people to know that the Garden City is spending around Rs. 550 crores on garbage only as compared to the other metros which spend around Rs. 250 crores. These are only few of the many he narrated including him not being able to take a free walk near his house due to the air pollution caused by the KCDC. Dr. Rajshekar Reddy in his address said people need not go in search of means to commit suicide. If one can take the trouble of staying in this place overnight, the life is lost automatically. The entire gathering applauded him for this statement by blowing whistles too. He cautioned that such air pollution will only lead to various ailments not only concerning lungs

This toxic smell that

This is the aftermath of the Chief Minister’s visit recently to assess the area along with the then Bangalore District In - Charge Minister, Ramalinga Reddy. They had, during the visit, promised to take action and find a solution to solve this problem on a
protest ‘Right to Breathe’ organized by Kudlu Haralakunte Hosapalya Somsundarapalya Parangipalya RWA (KHHSP Residents’ Welfare Association) and Residents Watch and make the world know of the living conditions of these people which is endangering them. The government on its part has improvised on the technology

This is a long standing problem faced by the residents which has to be looked into with immediate effect, he added. Kupendra Reddy gave out a few statistics which shocked the entire

Narrating the initial days of the fight against the Plant’s rising capacity, he said that the government and the civic body have had a lackadaisical approach to solve the issue on hand. Mr. Anees Padela, a
lead campaigner in the fight for clean air to breathe said that the government is now using this as the dumping yard camouflaging it by naming it as a Compost Plant. The garbage dump should not be in excess of 70 tonnes per day. Instead it is now raised to around 250 tonnes per day. ‘this is atrocious” he said.
Mr. Zahid, one of the lead organizers of the protest said that they were not asking the government or BBMP to shift or remove the Plant from here, but only want to reduce the input of garbage and see if this could reduce the stench emanating from the Plant, which is literally killing people. “We do not want Mandur like promises”, he said.

The arctic fox is an incredibly hardy animal that can survive frigid Arctic temperatures as low as –58°F (-50°C) in the treeless lands where it makes its home. It has furry soles, short ears, and a short muzzle-allimportant adaptations to the chilly clime. Arctic foxes live in burrows, and in a blizzard they may tunnel into the snow to create shelter. Arctic foxes have beautiful white (sometimes blue-gray) coats that act as very effective winter camouflage. The natural hues allow the animal to blend into the tundra's ubiquitous snow and ice. When the seasons change, the fox's coat turns as well, adopting a brown or gray appearance that provides cover among the summer tundra's rocks and plants. These colorings help foxes to effectively hunt rodents, birds, and even fish. But in winter prey can be scarce on the ground. At such times, arctic foxes will follow the region's premier predator—a polar bear—to eat the leftover scraps from its kills. Foxes will also eat vegetables when they are available. Like a cat's, this fox's thick tail aids its balance. But for an arctic fox the tail (or "brush") is especially useful as warm cover in cold weather.Female arctic foxes give birth each spring to a large litter of up to 14 pups.

it is often associated with a large waist. Once you get rid of this unhealthy fat, you will not only save your health, but also lose weight and trim your waistline. Studies reveal that it is very tough to remove the visceral or abdominal fat especially, if the person happens to be obese. If you are determined to lose your belly fat, then make some sacrifices in your diet and be patient to see the results. List Of Organic Foods To Eat: Forget about fast foods like pizzas and cakes. Instead, you can focus on green leafy vegetables and foods that are rich in fiber for a slim waistline. Ditch Soda: This is the first step to avoid belly fat. A recent research confirmed that people who drank even a glass of coke had a risk of increased waist size than people who didn't. Diet coke is stuffed with artificial sweeteners. It spikes the insulin levels in the body and the fat gets stored. This expands your waist line. Eat Only When You Are Hungry: In this busy world, we do not pay attention to our actual bodily needs. We eat when we are happy or sad or even when not hungry.

“All is superb in paradise… to set the record straight. Everything is beautiful in paradise. It is not true. You believe all that crap. I just feel bad when people put out things. All is beautiful in (my) paradise,” he had said. This very statement of Bollywood hunk John Abraham has been proved correct. The ‘Dhoom’ actor was spotted with his wife Priya Runchal who is an investment banker in suburban Bandra on Thursday . John drove his wife Priya and the actor looked happy and also waved to the paparazzi. Priya was dressed in a blue top and skinny jeans and she was clicked in the car and stepping out the car. John and Priya were having a long distance relationship and this very fact is concluded as the reason of their separation. When Priya got married to John, she was pursing higher studies in London. It was then reported that long distance relationship has taken a toll on their married life and the couple was heading for divorce. John Abraham was highly disappointed with the false report and took to the social media to clear the air surrounding his marriage. During New Year Eve of 2013, John Abraham married his girlfriend Priya in Los Angeles and he introduced his new wife on social media as Priya Abraham. When rumour of his divorce grabbed the headlines, John broke the silence on his personal life and said that he is being misunderstood. “I believe in being quiet because I feel that is dignified. I keep quiet but unfortunately I also see lot of negative press sometimes around me and that is very disparaging and discouraging,” he said. John thinks he does not deserve negative attention. “I feel I don’t deserve it and no one in my family deserves it. Just because no one speaks doesn’t mean you can go out and say anything you want,” he added. Well, it is great to see that John and Priya are together. We wish the couple a happy married life!
