If you are interested in volunteering in the laundry, contact Volunteer Services (6204).
Lori says, “It’s nice to have help to keep the laundry flowing through the process. In the mornings we have two or three volunteers and their help with folding keeps us on track.”
Daryl Groff, Director of Volunteer Services
At the next table John Borelli, a Garden Spot Village resident since October 2004, folds towels. “I get to fold a little bit of everything,” John says. “I enjoy volunteering in the laundry. The people, the community – it keeps me busy.”
Judy encourages other residents to volunteer with her in the laundry. “We are doing a service for the community and we have fun doing it. Plus, it’s a way to get out of my apartment and get some walking and other physical movement into my routine.”
A trip to the laundry room on a Wednesday morning found volunteers busy folding towels and washcloths and enjoying each other’s company.
“We have a good time in the laundry,” offers Judy Rettew, a Garden Spot Village resident since January 2016. “There’s a lot of laughing, but we get a lot of work done.” Lori DeGeorge, laundry specialist, agrees, “We are always laughing. One day we even had a frog in here. I caught it and showed it to Judy.” “She did,” Judy says.
