CALL TO ORDER: By Brenda Rubenuik at 6:59 pm
ADOPTION OF MINUTES: Adoption of September 18, 2013 minutes motioned by Brenda Rubenuik, seconded by Terry Stanley.
GUEST PRESENTATION: Kelly Gould discussed the awards system at Garibaldi. The table below describes the different awards: Certificates and Pins – H Honours, S Service, A Athletics Pin colours – Yellow, Green, Red, Blue, Gold Honours Service Athletics Grade Point Average (GPA) will be calculated on final Pin 50 hours or Pin Member of at least 2 marks: more per year school sports Certificate 25 -49 hours teams per year. A=4, B=3, C +=2.5, C=2, C=1 Service (unpaid) to school. Honours with Distinction May be cumulative. If GPA of 4 Examples: playing one sport each Pin and certificate Student government year, earn a pin after 2 Honours Dances years. GPA of 3.0 Score keeping
Pin Honourable Mention GPA of 2.75 Grade 8,9,10 Includes all eight courses. No courses failed. Grade 11 Includes top six courses. Must include Com or Eng. Grade 12 courses.
Coaching or managing teams Front of house Office help Tutoring Does not include course credit hours. (Work experience, PE, Student Aide, Math)
Must play the full season and attend the majority of games and practices. Five Year Athletic Award – have played on a minimum of two teams each year.

Com or Eng. Top Academic Student each year Five Year Academic Cup – GPA of 3.4 or higher for 5 years. Subject Awards – excellence in specific subject area.
CHAIR’S REPORT: Brenda Rubenuik Signing authorities of Garibaldi PAC must be recorded and announced. Two signing officers for PAC are Brenda Rubenuik and Shirley Boag.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Tamara Gardner Only thing to report is that we have received in the mail numerous fundraising brochures from several organizations.

Teacher’s requests were discussed earlier than the PAC meeting with gaming funds being allotted to different teachers and requests. The amounts being given out are as follows: Livio Gubert - Fly Fishing Club $896.00 (for rods and equipment) Pauline Lemieux - Volleyball team/intramurals $3000.00 (for nets/posts/anchors) Todd Goodman – Video production and news network $1250.00 (for tv/mounts/installation) Kyle Ludeman – Rebels for a Cause $1300.00 (for t-shirts/supplies for 30 hour famine) Kyle Ludeman – Reach for the Top $1200.00 (enrollment fee/buzzer system/shirts) Rebekah Bell – Band programs $2000.00 (equipment) Irene Gibeault – Library $2000.00 (novels/graphic novels) Grant Frend – Grads $1000.00 (sleepover game rentals) Harjit Bahia – Badminton Club $1450.00 (30 rackets and 10 birdies) Kelly Gould – Awards $1000.00 (certificates/trophies/engraving) Cindy Lacroix – Theatre $1200.00 (headset/receiver for stage manager/booth director) Bank accounts: Sept 2013 GAMING 30-Aug Opening Balance 3-Sep Interest 20-Sep Province, B.C.

DPAC REPORT: -
Laura Stadnik not returning to position, and a volunteer is needed. Brenda Rubenuik attended PAC 101 course, we must have an AGM for the PAC. September meetings will now be the AGM for PAC. Also monthly minutes cannot be published on the website until they have been approved at the following meeting.

the leadership conference that occurred a couple of weeks ago went well, worked with Keith Hawkins. They had two speakers in the morning and then active work with Keith in the afternoon. Next year this will be on a pro-d day instead of a Saturday. Will be asking the school board for donation to host event.

NEW BUSINESS: Bursaries ~ need to have guidelines to Kelly Gould by January ~ decision on candidates will be at the April 2014 meeting ~ students should discuss: 1. What have you contributed to the school? 2. Plans for the future? 3. Why should the PAC pick you? Coupon books that were discussed at the last meeting, the band program and leadership students have both shown interest in selling these. Grant will bring some books to the next PAC meeting; they will also be available at the parent/teacher conference.
