4 Meditation Techniques For Beginners Garrett Barry

Greetings!

Garrett here, I’m glad you could stop by.

Are you wanting to find out how to do meditation? Perhaps you are just getting into it and want to learn some simple ways to do it? Well in this quick article, I’m going to share with you 4 meditation techniques for beginners, or people just starting off wanting to do this amazing and beneficial practice.

When I first started meditating, I experienced a lack of knowledge and some frustration when wanting to find out exactly how to do it. After a very long time of searching and looking, I finally found out some mediation techniques for beginners. They paved the way for me in the beginning and now because I want you to save time and energy, I am going to give you only what you need to know to get started.

The 4 Meditation Techniques For Beginners

Meditation Techniques For Beginners #1

1. Set Aside Some Time Every Day – The first, of the meditation techniques for beginners, is very important. So many times I see people wanting to start meditating, yet they aren’t consistent with it. Meditation is great for removing stress, feeling good, and allowing your body to relax. I recommend setting aside a specific time for about 5-20 minutes once or twice a day to do this practice.

Personally I do about 10 minutes in the morning, and 10 minutes before bed. It helps me start the day off great and

end on a wonderful and relaxing note.

2. Begin With Your Breathing – Meditation is all about quieting the mind and becoming still. Changing your breathing can rapidly change your state of mind and body. When you are going to meditate, start by sitting down somewhere comfortable, closing your eyes, and begin breathing deeper.

Breathe in slowly, hold for a few seconds, and release the breathe. Notice how your body begins to relax more. Continue to do this and you will progressively find yourself becoming more and more relaxed, to the point where you are in a deep state of stillness. Many people teach that you want to have your focus primarily on your breathing as you meditate. I think your breathe is an excellent focal point.

3. Pick The Perfect Place – This third, of the meditation techniques for beginners, is something I’ve found works very well with staying consistent and allowing yourself to form the ritual of doing this practice. What you want to do is you want to pick a room or spot that is your ‘mediation area’. This will be the place you go everyday to do your practice.

You can have a mat there, candles, cool lighting, or some relaxing music. This is your time so let yourself go with whatever you choose is most useful towards getting you in a still and relaxed state. Set the mood, so to speak.

4. Be Ok With What Happens – When just starting off, it is completely normal for your mind to wander and for you to have thoughts about your day. Accept this completely and be completely fine with this. So many times I see people I’ve taught this to, and they may get frustrated because they think they have to be this ‘Zen master’ being perfectly still and being totally clear headed starting off.

Just like anything else it takes time. Realize this and accept it so that you will stay motivated to continue practicing. That is why they don’t call it a ‘meditation perfect’ but a meditation practice.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these 4 meditation techniques for beginners!

These meditation techniques are the ones that I’ve found work the best when just starting off. The important thing is to just start doing it and let whatever happens happen. You will get better each time and with these techniques you are well on the right track.
