Giving a local couple the chance to win their wedding, to essentially change their lives, is fantastic. And it gets the city talking. This year, it was bigger than ever, attracting almost twice as many couples as the year before. That’s why I am so grateful for the sponsors’ support.”

We have been engaged for five years now, and have two beautiful children under two years of age. We would love to be married and to have our beautiful children there to share our special day that we currently can’t afford. My mum is in very poor health with COPD, and I would love her to be there.

I would love to win my wedding so that I could give my beautiful princess Charlotte the day she truly deserves; we cannot afford to pay for the wedding we want because I am currently supporting Charlotte while she pursues her dream of being a star so this would be amazing! I’d like to win this prize just to surprise the woman of my dreams with her dream wedding!

I would love to get married at Cadbury house it is my choice of venue that we’re trying to save for, which is why I would love to win this wedding. I’ve been looking at the venue for ages and love it, it’s perfect.

We’ve been together 4 years and have 2 beautiful daughters, Ella just 2 and Niamh 6 months. All our spare money goes on them - swimming lessons, ballet, gymnastics, days out, clothes, toys, etc. They are our world. We are desperate to marry and be a ‘proper’ family but with living costs and 2 young children that just won’t ever happen.

We were looking to getting married this year but due to the passing of my mum couldn’t face it -would love to get married next year.

We’ve been engaged for 5 years and since having 2 children being able to afford a wedding has been tricky. It would make our family complete, and our little boy would be so happy to see his parents finally get married. I’d love to win it for him, to see his little face on our big day, so excited and proud.

Myself and my partner have been together for 12 years and lived together for 7 years, we have 5 children and had a lot of bad luck together with financial worries and ill health, so this would just be the icing on the cake for us as we aren’t able to afford it otherwise, thanks.

NEW ALBUM ● RYAN Adams has been getting a fair bit of airplay as his new album (“Ryan Adams”) hits the download charts. Normally people name their first album after themselves, and branch out after that, but it’s been 14 years since Adams went solo and released his debut Heartbreaker. Gimme Something Good, a catchy number, has been getting DJs excited.

FOOD

TELEVISION ● YOU might be sick of the sight of saltires already, but if not then from 10pm tomorrow Channel 4 are hosting a live show about the Scottish independence referendum called The Great British Break-Up? Even If the title sounds a bit sinister, the show – hosted by Jon Snow live from Edinburgh – should make interesting viewing.

● BRISTOL is now well served when it comes to tapas bars and restaurants, and the latest opening has been given the thumbs up by our food writer. When Mark Taylor visited Pata Negra (Clare Street) he found it a stylish place for a meal out, and his verdict was: “Slick service, tight and punchy cooking and a bustling, fun atmosphere.”

● THERE’S a fair bit of Champions League action across the sports channels tomorrow night and while it might be tempting to see if Diego Costa can score for Chelsea AGAIN in the Sky Sports 1 match against Schalke 04, a more enticing match is over on Sky Sports 5 as Manchester City travel to take on Bayern Munich.

A unique twist this year is the Perpetual Cinema, featuring 20 short films selected from the last 20 years of the festival, running constantly. Tomorrow the films are being shown between 5pm and 8pm – and it’s free!

Using her 20 years expertise in sugarpaste modelling and royal icing she will create a piece of edible art – stunning on the outside and delicious on the inside (fruitcake, chocolate or vanilla, even carrot or lemon cake and more). Ann also specialises in personalised wedding toppers. Using photos to designing a genuine likeness of the couple. Whether you want a traditional, contemporary, or novelty cake, even a mini-cake tower – the possibilities are endless; cakes that show a special place, or holiday; novelty cakes depicting a shared hobby or interest; contemporary cakes based on designs you love; or a traditional tiered cake with subtle flowers and piping. The Icing Centre creates stunning wedding cakes, which becomes the centrepiece of your wedding reception and is preserved forever in photos.

Phones 4U went into administration last week, closing 450 stores with several local outlets including in Broadmead, Bedminster, Yate and Kingswood. More than 5,000 staff were made redundant nationwide. The company was making strong profits but collapsed after Vodafone and then EE became the final mobile operators to cut ties with the store, making its business model unsustainable. Now EE, which employs hundreds of people in Bristol at its Aztec West HQ, has agreed to buy 58 of the stores, safeguarding 359 jobs. The stores will be re-branded as EE and staff will transfer to their new employer straight away. Vodafone announced a similar deal to take 130 stores on Friday. And Dixons Carphone has agreed to hire the 800 staff who had been employed in Phones 4U concessions in its Currys and PC World stores. The moves by EE and Vodafone is seen as part of a trend by mobile operators to cut out the middle man and deal with customers direct. Neither firm, nor administrators PWC, have revealed which stores have been sold at this stage. A spokesman for EE said: “We can confirm that we have agreed with the Phones 4u administrator to purchase 58 stores, safeguarding 359 jobs, subject to court approval.”

WHAT IS ISIS? ● ISIS stands for Islamic State of Iraq and Syria but is now more commonly known as Islamic State. It is a Sunni jihadist group which has proclaimed its own state, called a caliphate, in Syria and Iraq. The group has been denounced by many countries including Britain and the US as a terrorist organisation and has been accused by the UN and Amnesty International of grave human rights’ abuses. The group emerged from al-Qaeda in Iraq but in February, these links were severed reportedly due to Isis’s brutality and “notorious intractability”. When the caliphate was proclaimed in June, it spurred thousands of jihadists from all over the world to travel to the Middle East to take up the cause of bringing all Muslim-inhabited regions under its political control. An estimated 600 are believed to have travelled from Britain.

Y mum has moved. Instead of living two streets away from me, she is now on the other side of the city. So now, to get a free Sunday roast and to be told off about my ‘messy’ hair, I have to make a 20 minute bus journey. Therefore, I have spent more time on a bus in the last few months than I have since I was at school. It’s given me time to work on a list of my own rules for how people should behave on the bus. Here is my guide to bus etiquette: ● While you are waiting for the bus spend at least some of this time finding the right change for your fare or locating your day rider/card. Please don’t flag down a bus and then, after you ask for a ticket, look totally stunned by the driver asking for money. I am amazed by the number of people (often women, sorry but it is) who react to the request for money as if they have never paid for anything in their life. They then start searching through 17 different pockets before eventually pulling out a £20 Scottish note. ● When you get on the bus, don’t dither in the aisle, just sit down. No, not there! That’s where the woman with the pushchair behind you is going to put the buggy. ● If you are lucky enough to get a double seat to yourself – never sit on the outside chair to prevent someone else sitting next to you. You are definitely not that special. ● I love Kylie. I really like One Direction. Thanks to Glastonbury, I have even got into Dolly Parton. However, I don’t expect other people to share my (excellent) taste in music. Which is why I DON’T PLAY IT OUT LOUD ON MY PHONE’S SPEAKER. Please take note, youth of today. ● Speaking of mobiles. Please don’t phone someone and have a conversation which starts: “I’m on the bus. By Temple Meads, Number 50.Yeah, Temple Meads”. If you are going to call someone, at least make it interesting for the rest of us. ●Never get involved in making funny faces at a toddler on the seat in front of you. They never get tired of it. ● And finally…when you get off the bus you must say “cheers drive”.

But in the early hours of last Sunday thieves broke into his dad Jason’s garage in Shirehampton, broke the locks securing his two-wheelers and took them. His mum Tina and step-dad Nick Davis had paid for his race entry as a Christmas present. “It destroys you, because you work so hard to earn the money to buy the bikes, then something like this happens,” said the 22-year-old, who works in freight forwarding in Avonmouth. “We had been looking forward to the beach race all year, so we’re devastated. “Motocross is a family sport for us. My dad used to race when he was younger and he does my mechanics when we go to races. “We think they used bolt cutters and some of our tools in the garage to break the locks on the bikes. I think whoever stole them must have known they were in there. “I’ve had texts from friends who have given

T is the wedding they always wanted, but could never afford. Antonia Harper and Sean Horton planned to tie the knot in the luxury setting of the Double Tree by Hilton Cadbury House hotel years ago, but money stood in their way. Now, thanks to Bristol Post’s Win a Wedding Competition, they will live out their dream by saying ‘I do’ in the grounds of the Yatton hotel on March 28 next year. And yesterday they took the chance to take a look at what’s in store for them and their guests in six months’ time, with a tour of the venue. Antonia, 21, and Sean, 25, both from Knowle, first had their hearts set on the venue three years ago. Money forced them to revise their plans and chose a trip to Cuba to tie the knot instead. But Sean’s father was diagnosed with can-

It is going to be lovely, it will be a dream wedding.” The competition, worth £12,000, attracted a total of 6.5 million votes.
