What is Lean Six Sigma?

Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is a process improvement methodology designed to eliminate waste, maximize efficiency, and drive profitability, while improving quality of service and outcomes.

LSS is problem solving at its best and offers practical, applicable tools that can be applied across all industries, functions, and services.

Lean Six Sigma Certification Project

All LSS certifications require the satisfactory completion of an approved project before a certification may be issued. Students pursuing their LSS Black Belt certification after completing the LSS Green Belt program do not need to complete a separate Green Belt project to progress to their LSS Black Belt coursework. LSS Black Belt students may complete one approved LSS project. Please note that all certificate requirements (coursework and project work) must be completed within a one-year time frame.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

This introductory program teaches the tools, techniques, and methodologies of LSS. Students learn the framework for solving problems and improving processes using the DMAIC principles in a variety of hands-on classroom projects and activities. Students learn 1) the processes for streamlining and improving production of a product or service’s entire life-cycle, 2) how to reduce waste and lower defects, and 3) how to improve customer satisfaction.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt: Certification Project in Panama

Another path for earning your Lean Six Sigma certification is completing the four-day Green Belt course and the required final process improvement project through an immersive trip to Panama. This program blends practical, real-world applications to build a solid foundation in the DMAIC methodology.

You and other students in the Green Belt program will travel to Panama to work directly with Georgia Tech alumni at a sponsoring Panamanian company. You’ll tour the company and gain hands-on experience as you collaborate on your final process improvement project. The trip concludes with you receiving your Green Belt certificate.
