This is a FREE concert with an opportunity to give to Watoto during the concert or support them through merchandise sales and child sponsorship. Since 2010, the Gateway family has donated more than $20,000 to Watoto and we have sponsored 43 orphans! 10 host families will be needed for the choir and volunteers will be needed for the event itself. Welcome to our new edition of the Gateway magazine. At Gateway, we seek to make the Christian faith understandable and show that it is relevant to the times we live in today.
A LETTER FROM THE PASTOR
If you are new to our church, then you will find lots of information in this magazine (and on our website - www.gateway.ac) about the various groups, events and ministries we have to offer. If you are a regular part of the Gateway family - then read carefully, because some familiar things are now developing into full ministries, and you won’t want to miss those new innovations. For example, our House Parties are growing and going to a whole new level, as we seek to maintain the socializing-emphasis of them, yet learn to remain open to being led by God’s Spirit as we encourage, pray for, and strengthen oneanother in our faith.
In fact, the New Testament is full of these “one-another” verses, where we are encouraged to love one another, pray for one another, bear one another’s burdens, accept one another, be at peace with one another, serve one another etc. Our House Parties are where we are building micro-communities of our church, with 20+ people in each “community” so that we have a place to truly get to know one another, and learn to serve one another. Another new development is taking place in our Academy classes. Up until now, we have simply taken individual themes each season, but this year we will begin to develop a full mentorship program, training you to understand the Bible, experience what it speaks of, and apply it to your life - and to prepare for this we have some sample nights coming up (see page 7 for details). Not only our Sunday message series, but all our ministries will be emphasizing the need to Dig Deeper and Rise Higher this year - in every area of our lives - faith, family, career, ministry. I invite you to join us on this journey!

In our new message series, Pastor Martin will be looking at how a positive attitude of faith and some practical spiritual wisdom can help to shape our lives into something fresher, stronger, better. Very often we trip ourselves up with a lack of wisdom, and yet the Bible teaches us that we should seek wisdom above all else because “Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace” (Proverbs 3:16-17). God tells us: “I know the plans I have for you; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to bring about the future that you hope for” (Jeremiah 29:11). Let’s learn about these promises, about the wisdom required to maintain them, and then let’s take a huge leap of faith - believing that “all things are possible, for those who believe!” (Mark 9:23)

Our theme over the next few months is TRANSFORM. We want to take a look at what it means to be transformed by God. God gives us a new start, new life and life that overflows. Our whole being needs to be transformed by God and become God’s GREAT WORK OF ART. Over these next few months we are going to seek to explore what it means to transform our heart, our mind, our attitude and our decisions? It is going to be an exciting and fun environment where your kids will be able to explore these questions.

This event is all about both Information and Inspiration! We will be sharing what we have accomplished over 2014, what our plans are for 2015, plus a sneak-peak at the new 5 year plan we will be launching this year. Our Annual General meeting will be incorporated into this service, using media and creative elements.

For two years now we have been running classes under the banner of The Academy. At these classes we have looked at various topics and investigated theology, Biblical history, and controversial subjects. All of this has been aimed at broadening our perspective of what the Bible teaches and how people have understood it and applied it throughout church history. The Academy has become a popular part of our ministry at Gateway, now, we feel it is time to take it to the next level, and develop The Academy into a full training and mentorship program, helping people to grow in their knowledge and application of Theology - Leadership - and Spiritual Growth. In May we will launch our new Academy ministry - a two year, 6 module mentorship program aimed at helping you understand the Bible, develop a growing relationship with God, discover your gifts & calling, grow as a leader in life & ministry, and stretch your mind with insights into the obscure parts of scripture. To give you a foretaste of this new ministry, we are offering three free Academy taster nights this season, where we will look at one lesson from each of the 6 new modules.

HAROLD EBERLE Harold pastored a church for a number of years in the 1980’s before being called to a traveling teaching ministry. He is a popular conference speaker and visiting instructor at numerous Bible Colleges, and is currently focusing on the Middle East. He has authored over 25 books, dealing with issues such as Church leadership, life-centered Christianity, Kingdom finances, Church history, victorious Christian living, and various areas of theology. He lives in Yakima, Washington, US with his wife, Linda. worldcastministries.com
JONATHAN WELTON Jonathan is a teacher and seer, who is passionate about releasing Biblical truth about the New Covenant and our identity in Christ, and has a recognized prophetic gifting. He also leads the Welton Academy, which offers live and online training, with many hundreds signing up to study each year. He is the author of 9 books, including his most recent: Understanding The Whole Bible: The King, Kingdom, and the New Covenant. OUTBREAK is the result of a team looking to create opportunities for youth and young adults to discover their gifts and how they can use them in the church and in the world. Each night consists of passionate worship, relatable teaching, real community, and the chance to build relationships outside our own church walls.

Grade 6 are invited to join XLR8 youth for our CHAOS NIGHTS once a month. These nights are tailored specifically to Grade 6-9 and give our preteen’s a chance to dive into what it will be like when they enter youth and make some connections and friends on the way.

Our theme for XLR8 this year is I Am Second: Don’t just believe, but become. I Am Second is a movement meant to inspire people of all kinds to live for God and for others; to not just believe, but live this faith out in real life. Through the stories of real people, their dealing with typical struggles and everyday living, seeing God work in these stories, we hope to be inspired to not only look to our own interests but the interests of others, serving those around us and living out God’s purpose for us today—a real honest look of faith in real life with real people and with a real God. WATER BAPTISM Baptism is about declaring you belong to the Kingdom of God. Much like a wedding ring is an outward symbol of a commitment to someone, baptism is an outward symbol of the inward work God has already done in your life and declaration that you belong to Him.
FAMILY MATTERS: WEDDINGS/CHILD DEDICATIONS/FUNERALS The journey of life is full of beginnings and endings. MEMBERSHIP Do you call Gateway home? Membership is all about digging your routes deep and planting yourself in a community that you can call family. Be a part of the movement that God is doing at Gateway and discover what God has for you in this Faith community. HEALING PRAYER & CRISIS COUNSELLING The Bible says: “Are you hurting? Pray. Do you feel great? Sing. Are you sick? Call the church leaders together to pray and anoint you with oil in the name of the Master.” (James 5:13) One of our Elder’s would be happy to meet and pray with you. CHILD DEDCIATION: When your family is blessed with a new addition, we want to celebrate and support you. Child Dedication is one avenue to do this. FUNERALS: Funeral preparation can be difficult while grieving the loss of a loved one. While never easy, this can be a time to celebrate a life and shared memories.
