Local FFA Members Attend Leadership Conference COVINGTON, Ga Members of the Wilcox County FFA Chapter recently attended the Georgia FFA Success Conference held March 6-7, 2015, at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center. The theme of the personal development event for 10-12th grade FFA members was “Go the Extra Mile.” During the two-day conference, members were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and expand their leadership abilities. Students attended sessions that focused on time management, setting goals and becoming leaders in their schools and communities. Participants also engaged in a hunger simulation dinner and were challenged to be thankful for what they have and give to others in need. Members of the Georgia FFA state officer team led the conference. Georgia FFA State Vice President Kandice Hooper said, “The Success Conference is an incredible opportunity and enables FFA members to develop the skills necessary to be effective leaders within their chapter, school and community. We hope these students will utilize the skills they learn at the conference to become life-long leaders.” Members of the Wilcox County FFA chapter attending the conference included: Maggie McGuinty, Robert McGuinty, Junior Satterfield, Drew Willingham, and Tyler Wise. With more than 37,000 members, the Georgia FFA Association is the third largest state association in the nation. The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, changed its name in 1988 to reflect the growth and diversity of agriculture. The mission of the FFA organization is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
