CLYDE

ALPHONSE MOORE, son of the late Leroy Moore, Sr. and Jeannette Anderson Moore began his journey with life on February 5, 1951, in Northampton County, North Carolina and peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on October 15, 2024.

He graduated from Gaston High School in North Carolina and attended Halifax Community College in Weldon, NC. There he received certifications in welding technology which led to his decades long career at Newport News Shipbuilding until his retirement in 2017. After retirement, he focused his energy on his family, his appliance repair business in which he served clients throughout the Hampton Roads, and, of course, watching his favorite Western TV shows!

Clyde was baptized at an early age and attended Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church, Gaston, North Carolina until early adulthood. As an adult, he joined New Beech Grove Church, Newport News, VA, where he served on the Deacon’s Ministry. In recent years, he frequently visited New Harvest Christian Ministries in Hampton, VA.

In 1973, he was united in holy matrimony to Patrica Ann King. They shared over 50 years of happiness and joy. They reared one loving daughter, Petrina Antoinette Moore, who predeceased him in February 2022.

“Chunky”, as he was fondly called, leaves treasured memories with his devoted wife, Patrica King Moore, of the home; his siblings: Doris J. Vincent of Hampton, VA, Leroy Moore, Jr of Hampton, VA, Carl L. Moore (Katie) of Hampton, VA, and Ella L. Carter (Richard) of Richmond, VA. He also leaves his in-laws, Charles King Jr., Laurie King Elliott, and Letha King Brooks (Jerome), as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

“The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want... Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Psalm 23:1 and 6

A life well lived is a precious gift of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place. It is filled with moments, sweet and sad with smiles and sometimes tears, with friendships formed and good times shared and laughter through the years. A life well lived is a legacy of joy and pride and pleasure, a living, lasting memory our grateful hearts will treasure.
