A LIFE TO REMEMBER BELINDA MAE WALKER

December 28, 1956 - July 18, 2024

Belinda Mae Walker, born on December 28, 1956, in Newport News, Virginia, peacefully passed away on July 18, 2024. Raised by her loving grandmother, Belinda's early life was enriched with strong values and deep faith.

Belinda accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Friendship Baptist Church, Newport News, VA, under the leadership of Pastor Beverly Ashburn. She later became a devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, Newport News, VA where she was faithful in her service, worship and study of God's Word.

Belinda received her education through Newport News Public Schools, which laid the foundation for her diligent work ethic. Her career spanned custodial work at Gethsemane, Extended Stay, and Riverside Rehab Facility. Known for her hardworking and passionate nature, Belinda took immense pride in maintaining a tidy environment for herself and others.

A committed community member, Belinda was actively involved in the substance abuse ministry at the Friendship Baptist Church, where she ministered to those seeking support in their recovery, ushering them to the victory and triumph she herself had experienced.

Belinda found joy in watching westerns and sports, particularly cheering for the Dallas Cowboys football teble mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She am. Her greatest joy came from serving others and sharing her love for the Lord. She was a dedicated student of the Word and loved good preaching, touching many lives with her faith and compassion.

Belinda is survived by her beloved husband of 13 years, Herbert Walker, with whom she shared a 15-year relationship filled with love and devotion. She is also survived by her bonus children: Karen Hampton, Jurea Berger (Corey), Latarshi Hampton, and Antone Slaughter. Belinda was a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her best friend, Linda Bryant, and cherished family members, Mother Kelly, Debrah Kennard, and Lisa Winston. Her extended family at Gethsemane Baptist Church will also miss her dearly.

Belinda Mae Walker's legacy is one of faith, love, and selfless service. She will be remembered for her big heart, her passion for helping others, and her unwavering love for the Lord.
