2017 CONTRACTOR OF THE YEAR NOMINEE
Deploys Innovation To Cut Construction Cost There is a distinction evident in the IAN ethos: Innovation can save money for customers. As you review their development as subcontractor to a prime, and as facilitator of cost-saving globally branded and trusted industry services and facilities, you appreciate their keen drill-down of the bid factoring levers, and how they mitigate previously stayed costs. Bottom line: IAN simply reduces costs that other bidders cannot. With a coveted Guam EPA-approved Solid Waste Management permit to operate a Solid Waste Storage & Processing Facility, that provides AN with a substantial cost-saving advantage. Ian (Jay) Chong began his industry experience working in various construction capacities on Guam since 1989. He founded Ian Corporation as a General Contractor in 2005; and thereon, guided its growth and development.
Committed to quality workmanship, on-time delivery, and total customer satisfaction, and providing a safe working environment for its employees, IAN Corporation offers both comprehensive in-house construction expertise and company-owned construction. They can quickly mobilize personnel, equipment, and materials in emergencies or when customers require swift, reliable customer service. In 2010, IAN also became the sole Guam distributor and a full service provider of GME Trench Protection Systems (www.gme-shields.com). GME offers the world's most complete line of Trench Shields and Trench Shoring Equipment, including the single hydraulic shore system, trench shields, slide rail systems, and the MD Brace system, and are widely used trench safety systems in North America, Japan and Australia. IAN grew its construction portfolio by working diligently--subcontracting to many prime construction companies. Once certified as an SBA 8(a) participant, IAN's reputation and quality work as a contractor helped it win contracts as a prime--awarded by DZSP2, NAVFAC Marianas, 36th Contracting Squadron Air Force, the US Coast Guard, the Guam Army National Guard, Department of Defense, the US Postal Service, the US Geological Survey, Guam International Airport
Agency, and many other commercial clients. In August 2015, IAN was among eleven companies included in the 8(a) Multiple Award Construction Contract (MACC) Award in Guam. Over the past ten years, IAN Corporation has completed projects valued at nearly $40 million. In December of 2016, IAN Corporation graduated from the SBA 8(a) Program. However, the company continues to build upon its existing portfolio as a Small Business. Having constructed a new, larger warehouse/office staging its company, IAN recently invested in land acquisition for multiple purposes; one, is for the construction of a subdivision (named Tre-Vista), and another, is the incorporation of Primet Rock, LLC, a surface mining company with a Guam EPA-approved Solid Waste Management permit to operate a Solid Waste Storage & Processing Facility in the municipality of Mangilao. This unique capability differentiates the company from its competitors as it factors considerable savings to the government and other clients into potential bids by negating the usual disposal of construction debris at established local facilities, with its hefty disposal fees. Additionally, IAN has purchased over $1 Million worth of equipment, maintains a heavy equipment shop at its Bello Road property.
2017 CONTRACTOR OF THE YEAR NOMINEE are proud to be a local company with 100% of its employees who are residents of Guam.
