PRESIDENT PAUL MCNULTY From 2001 to 2005, President McNulty served as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. The U.S. Senate confirmed him for this position three days after the September 11 terrorist attacks and his office handled numerous terrorist prosecutions. Earlier in his career, from 1990 to 1993, he served as the Justice Department’s Chief Spokesman and Director of Legal Policy.
A 1980 graduate of Grove City College, the Honorable Paul J. McNulty, J.D., enters his first year as the College’s ninth President. President McNulty returned to Grove City after serving as a partner in the global law firm Baker & McKenzie, where he chaired the firm’s corporate compliance and investigations practice. He is widely recognized as a leading voice on business ethics and global anti-corruption matters.
His career also includes 11 years as a senior lawyer on Capitol Hill, where he served as the Chief Counsel and Director of Legislative Operations for the Majority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives and Chief Counsel for the House Subcommittee on Crime. He began his legal career in 1983 as Counsel for the House Ethics Committee. President McNulty received the College’s Alumni Achievement award in 1998. The College awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2007. He also received an honorary doctorate in 2003 from Capital University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1983.
He joined Baker & McKenzie in 2007 after more than two decades of public service, primarily as a leader in United States law enforcement efforts.
He is the fourth alumnus to serve as President of the College, where he studied history and met his wife Brenda (Millican '80). The McNultys have three daughters, Katy (McNulty '07) Hittinger, Anni (McNulty) Blankenship and Corrie '14. Their son Joseph died of cancer in 2012 at the age of 26 while attending law school.
ATHLETIC DIRECTOR DON LYLE Dr. Don Lyle is in his 13th year as athletic director at Grove City College. Lyle is Chairman of the Department of Physical Education and Athletics and Athletic Director.
Lyle also directed Grove City to a share of the PAC men’s soccer title in 1996 as Grove City went 16-2. The Wolverines set a school record for victories in a season and won their first ECAC title. Lyle-coached teams also advanced to post-season play in 1976, 1980 and 2000. In 34 years as head coach, he compiled a 277-206-37 record. The College inducted him into its Men’s Soccer Hall of Fame in October 2006.
In that role, Lyle oversees the College’s fitness and wellness program, its rapidly-growing exercise science major and Grove City’s 19-sport varsity athletics program.
Lyle also started the women’s softball program at Grove City, posting a 91-61 (.599) record from 1980-88 as head coach. Lyle then spent nine years as baseball coach at Grove City. In addition to his academic duties as department chair, Lyle is a professor of physical education. He is also chairman of the Grove City College Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
Lyle coached Grove City’s men’s soccer team from 1972 to 2005. As head coach, he led the Wolverines to six postseason berths, including a pair of trips to the NCAA Championship Tournament.
A native of Calcutta, Ohio, Lyle earned his bachelor of arts degree from Muskingum College in 1971. He earned his master’s degree in education from Miami of Ohio. Lyle received his doctorate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
In 2005, his final season as head coach, Lyle guided Grove City to its first-ever outright Presidents’ Athletic Conference title and a trip to the finals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southern Championship Tournament. He earned the PAC’s Coach of the Year award that year.
Lyle and his wife Barbara live in Pine Township. They have three adult children and nine grandchildren.

GROVE CITY COLLEGE
SEASON PREVIEW
2014 PREVIEW After a strong finish to the 2013 season, the Grove City College football team will look to carry that momentum into 2014 as the Wolverines look to return to the top of the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Several standouts return on both sides of the ball for Grove City, which has 15 returning starters among its 37 returning lettermen. Head coach Chris Smith, now entering his 31st season at the helm, will count on that veteran group as the foundation for this season's successes. OFFENSE Grove City's offensive line play over the past several seasons has allowed the Wolverine attack to emerge as one of the conference's most balanced offenses on a consistent basis. Four starters return up front this fall, along with a handful of experienced veterans. Senior Jason Glacken returns at left tackle while sophomore Mitch Zajicek returns at left guard. Senior Ron Dornin made nine starts at center in 2013 and will anchor the offensive line while junior right guard Alex Jewell returns for his third season as a starter. Senior guard Zach Kepple has played extensively during his career and will look to reclaim a starting spot after being sidelined by injury for part of 2013. Classmate Andrew Stupakis will also compete for time at guard. Junior Jake Jaszcar will look to claim the vacant right tackle spot after seeing duty as a reserve in each of his first two seasons.
Junior tailback Steve Maskrey returns for the 2014 season after leading Grove City in rushing and scoring last year. He is a two-year letterman.
Senior Adam Shick moves from tackle to tight end and will compete with junior Donny Haney for the starting nod. Second-year player Alex Carsey is also in the mix at tight end. The Grove City backfield features several veterans at both tailback and wingback. At tailback, junior Steve Maskrey returns as the starter after rushing for a team-high 677 yards and 10 touchdowns last year. Maskrey will be joined by versatile junior Gabriel Moore at tailback. Moore caught 18 passes last year and also averaged 4.0 yards per carry. Sophomore Tyler Ramsey will also look to break into the backfield lineup this fall. Senior Sam Ivan, junior Zach Rader and sophomore Zach Gazdacko all saw ample time at wingback in Grove City's multiple spread attack. Ivan finished third on the team with 130 rushing yards last year. He also caught 14 passes. Rader played in eight games before being sidelined by injury while Gazdacko emerged in Rader's stead. Both are expected to be key contributors in both the rushing and passing game this year. Senior Brian Wells will also likely factor into the Grove City offense as a blocking back and pass receiver out of the backfield. He caught two passes last year - both of which went for touchdowns. Wells is a three-year letterwinner.
Senior Ron Dornin returns as Grove City’s starting center. Dornin is a two-year letterwinner who will also handle snapping duties for extra points and field goals.

F OOTBALL 2014
2014 PREVIEW Grove City enters 2014 with less certainty at quarterback, however. Junior Josh Peach completed 9 of 12 passes in 2013 and is a two-year letterman. He has the inside track to start this fall. Sophomore Aaron Lundmark and junior Drew Chorey are among those who will compete with Peach for the job. Graduation thinned Grove City's wide receiver ranks as the team's top three men at that position are gone. Junior David Folkmire returns after catching five passes last year. Converted quarterback P.J. Wycech will also look to earn a full-time spot this year, as will sophomore letterwinner Luke Brancato. DEFENSE Injuries and inexperience hampered the Grove City defense last season but the Wolverines appear to be in prime position to return to the top of the conference's statistical rankings. The Wolverines led the league in total defense in both 2010 and 2012 and will rely on several returning veterans to help lead the 2014 unit. Grove City returns two starting linebackers in senior Jason Skyrm and junior Bobby Tuttle. Skyrm is a two-year starter on the strong side and racked up 82 tackles last year, including a team-high 10.5 for loss. Tuttle started nine games at middle linebacker in 2013 and recorded 64 stops, along with two interceptions. Juniors Brandon Berringer and Jason Dillon are each two-year lettermen who will battle for a starting spot on the inside. On the outside, juniors Tyler Campbell and Joe Siefert both saw time in 2014 and will challenge for starting positions in 2014. Junior Brent Veerman returns as Grove City's starting nose tackle after emerging in 2013. He started all 10 games and shared the team lead with 3.5 sacks.
Junior Bobby Tuttle (39) and senior Jason Skyrm (35) are two returning starters at linebacker. Tuttle returns at inside linebacker while Skyrm returns at outside linebacker.
Junior nose tackle Brent Veerman is a returning starter on the defensive line for Grove City. He tied for the team lead in quarterback sacks last season.
5
SEASON PREVIEW
Veerman will again look to anchor the defensive line in 2014. Junior Ryan Hickey is a two-year starter and a returning Academic All-District selection at end. Hickey started six games in 2013 before a season-ending injury curtailed a promising season. He is expected to reclaim a starting spot this fall. Seniors Robert Rollick and Reese Swatsworth both saw action on the defensive line in 2013 and will pursue fulltime starting spots this year. Senior Nate Ealy and junior Ben McKnight are also looking to earn time up front for the Wolverines this fall. Grove City's secondary features four players who started at least one game in 2013. Sophomores Jimmy Cianciola and Miles Milner finished their respective rookie seasons as the Wolverines' starting cornerbacks. Senior Ryan Duran will also compete for a starting cornerback position. Sophomore Ned Hull is the lone returning letterwinner at safety. SPECIAL TEAMS While Grove City has some vacancies on both offense and defense, the kicking game features several returning standouts. Sophomore kicker Ryan Stewart went 3 for 4 on field goals last year while also drilling 25 extra points. Meanwhile, sophomore punter Anthony Marnejon averaged 35.6 yards per kick last year. He forced 11 fair catches and had just two touchbacks in 2013. Junior Nick Piett is back for his third season as Grove City's punt snapper while Dornin returns as the snapper for placekicks. Chorey returns as holder. Folkmire and Moore may again handle kickoffs while Ivan has had duty at both kick and punt returner throughout his career. Several other players will likely compete for time as return men this year.

HEAD COACH CHRIS SMITH In 1995, Smith earned the Tri-State Officials Association’s Coach of the Year award. Overall, Smith has coached seven players who have attained All-American status as well as countless others who have earned ECAC and PAC recognition through the years. The Wolverines’ on-field success has been matched by success in the classroom. Over the past two decades, numerous Grove City players have received recognition both regionally and nationally for their academic performances. Grove City’s four CoSIDA Academic All-District selections in 2005 set a new program record. Grove City again matched that standard in 2006. In 2008, linebacker Adam Eichler and guard Dave Salera both earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors following the season. Eichler, Salera and wide receiver Stephen Mercer all earned Academic All-District recognition in 2008. Defensive back Chris Gibbs became the first Grove City junior to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American following the 2012 season. In 2013, Gibbs became the program’s first-ever two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American. Gibbs, Joe Diani, Ryan Hickey, Sam Ivan and Ritchie all earned CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition last year, setting a new single-season program record with five All-District selections. A highly-respected member of the coaching community, Smith is actively involved on the American Football Coaches Association Division III Football Council. He is also a past member of the NCAA Division III Football Committee, which supervises the NCAA Division III playoffs. Smith ascended to the head coaching position at Grove City in 1984 after spending five years as an assistant at the College. Prior to joining the Grove City football staff in 1979, Smith coached the outside linebackers at Western Kentucky University. Smith’s coaching career began at Perry High School in his hometown of Massillon, Ohio. From 1996 to 2003, Smith also held the role of Director of Athletics at Grove City. Grove City teams won 59 total Presidents’ Athletic Conference titles during that span, including titles in 17 different sports. As a player, Smith started at safety for the Wolverines from 1968-71. He led the team in interceptions three times and holds Grove City’s career record for interceptions with 22. Over his 39 years as a player, assistant coach and head coach at Grove City, Smith has been involved in 370 games. Smith graduated from Grove City in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in history. He then completed his master’s degree at Western Kentucky. He and his wife, Barbara, live in Grove City. Their daughter Ellie is a 2003 Grove City College graduate.

HEAD COACH CHRIS SMITH
Chris Smith enters his 31st season as Grove City College’s head football coach. A 1972 Grove City College graduate, Smith is the dean of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference football coaches. He is also the all-time wins leader in the 119year history of Grove City football. In 2012, Smith guided the Wolverines to a 6-4 overall mark and a 5-3 record in the rugged Presidents’ Athletic Conference. The 2012 Wolverines led the conference in total defense and senior tailback Shane Kaclik became the third 1,000-yard rusher in program history. Grove City also led the nation in fewest penalty yards per game in 2012. The Wolverines ranked third nationally in that category in 2011. Overall, Grove City has been the least-penalized team in the conference seven times in the last nine seasons, including the 2013 season. The youthful Wolverines went 5-5 last year. Numerous Grove City players have earned national and regional acclaim during his tenure. In 2005, safety Aaron Margo earned First Team All-America from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and represented the U.S. in the Aztec Bowl. In 2007, center Matt Gregg became Grove City’s third Aztec Bowl participant this decade. In 2010, tackle Pete Polesnak represented the United States in the Bowl of the Stars, the Aztec Bowl’s successor, while nose tackle Jarred Frawley participated in the 2011 Bowl of the Stars. Kaclik, linebacker Jason Ferguson and guard Josh Bermann all represented the United States in the 2012 Bowl of the Stars. Former Wolverine standouts Ben Manwaring, Ethan Martin and Anthony Ritchie all played in the 2013 Bowl of the Stars. Under Smith’s direction, the Wolverine program ascended into the national picture with consecutive PAC championships in 1997 and 1998. Grove City also recorded runner-up finishes in both 1999 and 2000. During that time, Smith guided an offensive juggernaut that featured record-setting fullback R.J. Bowers, who became the first college running back to eclipse the 7,000-yard mark for his career. In 1997, Smith led the Wolverines to their first-ever PAC championship and first nine-win season in program history. Grove City capped the season by hosting the United States Merchant Marine Academy in the ECAC Southwest Bowl. For his efforts that season, the American Football Coaches Association, the Metropolitan New York Writers Association and the PAC all honored Smith as their Coach of the Year.

THE PRESIDENTS’ A THLETIC CONFERENCE
ABOUT THE PAC Founded in 1955, the Presidents’ Athletic Conference continues its mission of promoting intercollegiate athletics and the pursuit of academic excellence. Comprised of 10 select private colleges - Bethany College, Chatham University, Geneva College, Grove City College, Saint Vincent College, Thiel College, Thomas More College, Washington & Jefferson College, Waynesburg University and Westminster College - the PAC remains a unique organization in this day of highpressure intercollegiate athletics. With academics at the center of each member’s philosophy, the PAC is built on the principle that an athletic program is a part of college life, but not an entity in itself. During the 2005-06 academic year, Chatham, Geneva and Saint Vincent all joined the PAC. Chatham competed for PAC championships for the first time during the 2007-08 academic year. Saint Vincent first competed for conference titles in 2010-11. Geneva became eligible for conference titles in 2011-12. In 2014, Carnegie Mellon University and Case Western Reserve University will compete for the conference’s championship in football as affiliate members. The PAC annually crowns champions in 19 sports. All-Conference status is awarded in all 19 sports. Head coaches select all-league squads for all team sports, while in individual sports such as cross country and tennis, all-PAC accolades are based upon performances at the conference championships.
The PAC annually awards its men’s and women’s All-Sports Trophies to the schools which perform best across the board in conference competition. Grove City won the Women’s All-Sports Trophy for the 2013-14 academic year while Washington & Jefferson earned the Men’s All-Sports Trophy. In 2013-14, the league named a conference-record 902 student-athletes to the PAC Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes all participating student-athletes who attain a term grade-point average of 3.60 or above during their semester of competition.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The beautifully landscaped campus of Grove City College stretches over 150 acres and includes 28 neoGothic buildings. It is considered one of the loveliest in the nation. While the College has changed to meet the needs of the society it serves, its basic philosophy has remained unchanged since its founding in 1876. It is a Christian, liberal arts institution, dedicated to the principle of providing the highest quality education at the lowest possible cost. Wishing to remain truly independent and to retain its distinctive qualities as a private school governed by private citizens (trustees), it is one of few colleges in the country that does not accept federal funds. Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), but not narrowly denominational, the College believes that to be well-educated a student should be exposed to the central ideas of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Grove City College offers undergraduate degrees in liberal arts, sciences, engineering, business, and music and is distinguished as a national leader in education. Grove City’s programs in electrical and mechanical engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission Board of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The “big business school curriculum” prepares students for today’s global business reality. An extensive variety of internship opportunities are provided across the curriculum. Grove City College wants its students to be prepared in this age of mobile information technology. Each entering freshman receives a tablet computer which is his or hers to keep upon graduation with a four-year degree. This is part of the Information Technology Initiative, a total program integrating technology across the curriculum.
PROGRAMS AND MAJORS
Grove City College’s Breen Student Union
The College believes that its student body has a unique mix of talents and abilities. Its Career Services program helps students identify those key assets during the first year and then builds a four-year strategy to help them pursue a satisfying career. Personal counseling, professional speakers, databases, alumni contacts, summer internships, corporate visits, employer presentations and more are incorporated into the career preparation experience. Grove City follows the semester calendar plan, in addition to offering two-week sessions in January and May. Most of the 2,500 students live in separate men’s and women’s dormitories. The rest are local commuters or married students. A full program of cultural, professional, athletic and social activities is offered, including 19 intercollegiate varsity athletic teams. Grove City, a town of 8,100 people, is located 60 miles north of Pittsburgh. It is located near Interstates 79 and 80 and has a municipal airport.
Grove City College 2014-2015 Tuition $7,775 per semester Room and Board $4,236 per semester

ATHLETIC FACILITIES
All 19 of Grove City College’s intercollegiate varsity athletic teams utilize the College’s superior facilities for competition, practices and off-season training and conditioning. Grove City’s athletic facilities have undergone numerous renovations and improvements in recent years, with more upgrades scheduled in the immediate future. On lower campus, Robert E. Thorn Field is home to the College’s football and track and field teams. The College installed CSTurf at Robert E. Thorn Field. CSTurf is a synthetic playing surface that features polyethylene LSR grass fibers and a rubber infill system. The College also installed lights and resurfaced the 8-lane track around the field. Grove City also reconfigured its setup for track meets during these renovations. In 2011, the College installed a new state-ofthe-art scoreboard and new bleachers on the visitors’ side at Thorn Field. These upgrades benefit the entire campus community as the complex is used by both the College’s club sports teams and its intramural program, along with the varsity teams. The track is also available for use by recreational walkers and joggers. The complex also features 10 all-weather tennis courts next to the stadium. Phillips Field House, located at the north end of the complex, features several locker rooms, an athletic training room, meeting rooms and coaches’ offices. It is used by the football, track and tennis programs throughout the academic year. The Physical Learning Center (PLC) houses the Grove City College Arena, home to the College’s basketball and volleyball programs. In summer 2012, the College renovated the Arena by installing new lighting and a new playing floor. In recent years, the Arena has also received new scoreboards and scorers’ tables.
The home of Grove City’s football and track and field teams, Robert E. Thorn Field has received numerous renovations in recent years.
The James E. Longnecker Pool is one of the nation’s premier small-college venues for both swimming and diving and water polo.

A THLETIC FACILITIES
In addition, the PLC features the James E. Longnecker Pool, one of the premier aquatic facilities in the region. Each year, Grove City hosts the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the state-of-the-art facility. In 2012, the College also hosted the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championships at the James E. Longnecker Pool. The PLC also features a second pool, the Recreational Pool, which is used by members of the College community year-round. A fitness room featuring aerobic and Cybex equipment and a separate weight room with free and mechanized weights are also keystone areas of the facility. The PLC also features six racquetball/handball courts as well as two adjacent intramural rooms. The intramural rooms feature four basketball courts, four indoor tennis courts, four volleyball courts, an indoor track and two indoor jumping pits. The College installed new synthetic flooring and several new electronic scoreboards throughout the intramural rooms. The Physical Learning Center houses the athletic training room, locker rooms and offices for coaches and physical education faculty. The College recently constructed a new office suite for coaches and athletic administration, while also incorporating its Athletic Hall of Fame area. Grove City’s outdoor athletic facilities have also received numerous upgrades in recent years. The varsity soccer field, College Field, was expanded and re-sodded during the summer of 2005. College Field also received a new press box during the summer of 2007. Meanwhile, Grove City’s baseball and softball facilities recently received major facelifts as new dugouts, new fencing and electronic scoreboards were installed on both fields.
