THE JAMES E. LONGNECKER COMPETITON POOL
JAMES E. LONGNECKER POOL
The James E. Longnecker Competition Pool is one of the nation’s top small-college aquatic facilities. The 8-lane facility is regarded as one of the fastest pools in the region and is reserved solely for use by the College’s swimming and diving and water polo athletes. The Pool features two one-meter diving boards and one three-meter board as well as five Power Rack stations. A newly-installed eight-lane electronic Daktronics timing system is integrated into the pool and scoreboard. The shallow end of the Pool is seven feet; thus the facility is able to host several Collegiate Water Polo Association events that are restricted from “shallow-deep” pools. Since 2000, Grove City College has hosted several CWPA championship events, including the 2015 CWPA Division III Championships. The James E. Longnecker Competition Pool is 25 yards in length and 56 feet wide. It holds 408,913 gallons of water. The seating capacity of the Pool area is approximately 400. The Pool has been home to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships since 1990.

DIVING COACH TAMMY FRITZ Tammy Fritz is in her 13th season as the diving coach at Grove City College. Grove City’s diving corps has become one of the region’s elite under Fritz’s guidance. She will work with an experienced and talented women’s diving squad this winter. Last year, Fritz helped current senior Carolyn Eckendorf and current junior Grace Klimek advance to the NCAA Division III Region 4 Championships in Geneseo, N.Y., in both 1- and 3-meter diving. Under Fritz’s guidance, Eckendorf and Klimek have both rewritten Grove City’s diving record book. Eckendorf holds the 11-dive record for both 1-meter and 3-meter diving as well as the six-dive record for 3-meter diving. Klimek established a Grove City record for six dives on the low board last year. Her efforts have helped the women’s swimming and diving program capture seven straight Presidents’ Athletic Conference titles. The men’s program has earned seven conference titles with Fritz as diving coach. Prior to joining the Grove City staff, Fritz worked as the diving coach at Chartiers Valley High School in Bridgeville, Pa. for two seasons. Fritz also has 14 years of experience coaching gymnastics at various age levels. Fritz is in her 13th year as an English teacher at Grove City High School. She also taught English for eight years at Chartiers Valley. Fritz graduated from Washington & Jefferson in 1992. In July 2002, she completed her master’s degree in education from Duquesne University. She lives in Slippery Rock with her husband, Dave, daughters Emily and Mary, and sons Hayden and Harrison.
Alyssa Hunt enters her second season as assistant men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach at Grove City College. In her first season at Grove City, she helped the women’s swimming and diving team capture the Presidents’ Athletic Conference title while also contributing to the men’s team placing second in the conference. Hunt is also Grove City’s head women’s water polo coach. In 2015, she guided a youthful Wolverine squad to a 7-11 mark, including a fourth-place finish at the season-ending Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championships. She came to Grove City in 2014 after spending last five years at California Baptist University. She earned four letters as a member of the Cal Baptist women’s water polo team from 2010 to 2014, helping CBU to a 97-50 aggregate record and recording 70 career goals and 110 career assists during her four seasons of play (2010-12, 2014).

WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING 2015-2016
SEASON PREVIEW
Junior Grace Klimek is a returning NCAA regional qualifier in diving for Grove City. Both performers earned First All-PAC honors last year. Junior Amanda Hutzelmann also earned First Team All-PAC last season and is one the region’s top returnees in the butterfly. Junior Madison Van Dyke will likely again be one of Grove City’s top performers in the backstroke and individual medley while classmate Molly Gallant returns in the sprints and breaststroke. Both swimmers earned All-PAC Second Team recognition as sophomores. Butterflier Kristi Riesmeyer also returns after injury cut short her sophomore season. She earned Second Team All-PAC honors as a freshman in 2013-14. Junior breaststroker Stefani Wendelschaefer earned her first letter last season and returns to bolster Grove City in both the breaststroke and individual medley. Grace Klimek, a two-year letterwinner in diving, is also back after qualifying for the NCAA regional championships last season. Junior Shelly Newcamp will look to break into the lineup on a full-time basis this season after competing in a variety of events during her first two seasons. Seventh-year head coach Dave Fritz will also count on three sophomore letterwinners in distance performers Brynna Bartlett and Sarah Blodgett, and breaststroker Abby Noll. Blodgett and Noll both earned Second Team All-PAC honors last season. Second-year competitors Carolyn Ebel, Sarah Gazica, Mary Robison, Cassie Rummel and Hannah Shoemaker are all expected to challenge for full-time lineup spots also this winter. A number of newcomers could work their way into the mix as well.
Senior Ashley Meesuk is a three-year letterwinner and 2015-16 team co-captain for the Wolverines. 7
SEASON PREVIEW
The Grove City College women’s swimming and diving team features a mere three seniors on its 2015-16 roster. But to call the Wolverines “inexperienced” would be a major mistake. Grove City returns 13 letterwinners for the 2015-16 season as the Wolverines pursue their unprecedented eighth straight Presidents’ Athletic Conference title and a return to the NCAA Division III Championships. Among the 13 letterwinners are four swimmers who have earned NCAA Division III All-America honors and seven other performers who earned All-PAC recognition. Megan Bilko, Carolyn Eckendorf and Ashley Meesuk comprise Grove City’s three-person senior class. A five-time NCAA All-American and 2014 conference Most Valuable Performer, Bilko returns after missing much of her junior season due to injury. Bilko owns individual school records in four events and will help lead Grove City in the distance events and individual medley. Eckendorf has qualified for the NCAA regional championships in each of the last two years and owns the school record in both diving events. Meesuk, meanwhile, is a three-year letterwinner in the breaststroke and individual medley. She will be an integral part of the lineup in those events. Grove City’s deep junior class features eight returning letterwinners, including two NCAA All-Americans in Abby Jank and Megan Smith. Jank will be one of Grove City’s top sprinters while Smith returns in the breaststroke, distance and individual medley events.

GROVE CITY COLLEGE
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
ABOUT
THE
The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC), built on the basic belief that an athletic program is an integral part of college life, but not an entity in itself, looks back on sixty years of growth and ahead to years of continued academic and athletic excellence. Formally organized in 1955 by Western Reserve University, John Carroll University, Case Institute of Technology, and Wayne State University, the PAC was the result of a realization that college athletics, despite numerous virtues for the individual and the institution, were gradually becoming a financial and academic burden. If athletics were to be continued, action had to be taken to place the program on its proper level. This included the premise that benefits of participation should be provided to as many students as possible. Currently comprised of 10 select private institutions – Bethany College, Chatham University, Geneva College, Grove City College, Saint Vincent College, Thiel College, Thomas More College, Washington & Jefferson College, Waynesburg University and Westminster College – the PAC remains a unique organization in this day of high pressure intercollegiate athletics, with academics at the center of each member’s philosophy. In 2012, the PAC Presidents’ Council added Carnegie Mellon University and Case Western Reserve University as affiliate members in the sport of football beginning with the 2014 season. The PAC crowns league champions and awards allconference honors in its 21 championship sports. Head coaches determine all-PAC squads for all team sports, while in individual sports, such as cross country and tennis, all-PAC accolades are based upon performances at the conference championships. The PAC, which recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, annually awards its men’s and women’s All-Sports Trophies to the schools which perform best across the board in PAC competition. The Grove City women and Waynesburg men captured the 2014-15 Trophies. Last year, the conference named 935 of its studentathletes to the PAC Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes all participating student-athletes who earn a term gradepoint average of 3.60 or above.

GROVE CITY COLLEGE
ABOUT GROVE CITY COLLEGE
ABOUT
The beautifully landscaped campus of Grove City College stretches over 150 acres and includes 28 neo-Gothic buildings. It is considered one of the loveliest in the nation. While the College has changed to meet the needs of the society it serves, its basic philosophy has remained unchanged since its founding in 1876. It is a Christian, liberal arts institution, dedicated to the principle of providing the highest quality education at the lowest possible cost. Wishing to remain truly independent and to retain its distinctive qualities as a private school governed by private citizens (trustees), it is one of few colleges in the country that does not accept federal funds. Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), but not narrowly denominational, the College believes that to be well-educated a student should be exposed to the central ideas of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Grove City College offers undergraduate degrees in liberal arts, sciences, engineering, business, and music and is distinguished as a national leader in education. Grove City’s programs in electrical and mechanical engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission Board of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The “big business school curriculum” prepares students for today’s global business reality. An extensive variety of internship opportunities are provided across the curriculum. Grove City College wants its students to be prepared in this age of mobile information technology. Each entering freshman receives a tablet computer which is his or hers to keep upon graduation with a four-year degree. This is part of the Information Technology Initiative, a total program integrating technology across the curriculum.

PROGRAMS AND MAJORS
Grove City College’s Breen Student Union
The College believes that its student body has a unique mix of talents and abilities. Its Career Services program helps students identify those key assets during the first year and then builds a four-year strategy to help them pursue a satisfying career. Personal counseling, professional speakers, databases, alumni contacts, summer internships, corporate visits, employer presentations and more are incorporated into the career preparation experience. Grove City follows the semester calendar plan, in addition to offering two-week sessions in January and May. Most of the 2,500 students live in separate men’s and women’s dormitories. The rest are local commuters or married students. A full program of cultural, professional, athletic and social activities is offered, including 19 intercollegiate varsity athletic teams. Grove City, a town of 8,100 people, is located 60 miles north of Pittsburgh. It is located near Interstates 79 and 80 and has a municipal airport.

ATHLETIC FACILITIES
All 21 of Grove City College’s intercollegiate varsity athletic teams utilize the College’s superior facilities for competition, practices and off-season training and conditioning. Grove City’s athletic facilities have undergone numerous renovations and improvements in recent years, with more upgrades scheduled in the immediate future. On lower campus, Robert E. Thorn Field is home to the College’s football and track and field teams. The College installed CSTurf at Robert E. Thorn Field. CSTurf is a synthetic playing surface that features polyethylene LSR grass fibers and a rubber infill system. The College also installed lights and resurfaced the 8-lane track around the field. Grove City also reconfigured its setup for track meets during these renovations. In 2011, the College installed a new stateof-the-art scoreboard and new bleachers on the visitors’ side at Thorn Field. These upgrades benefit the entire campus community as the complex is used by both the College’s club sports teams and its intramural program, along with the varsity teams. The track is also available for use by recreational walkers and joggers. The complex also features 10 all-weather tennis courts next to the stadium. Phillips Field House, located at the north end of the complex, features several locker rooms, an athletic training room, meeting rooms and coaches’ offices. It is used by the football, track and tennis programs throughout the academic year. The Physical Learning Center (PLC) houses the Grove City College Arena, home to the College’s basketball and volleyball programs. In summer 2012, the College renovated the Arena by installing new lighting and a new playing floor. In recent years, the Arena has also received new scoreboards and scorers’ tables.

In addition, the PLC features the James E. Longnecker Pool, one of the premier aquatic facilities in the region. Each year, Grove City hosts the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the state-of-the-art facility. In 2015, the College also hosted the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championships at the James E. Longnecker Pool. The PLC also features a second pool, the Recreational Pool, which is used by members of the College community year-round. A fitness room featuring aerobic and Cybex equipment and a separate weight room with free and mechanized weights are also keystone areas of the facility. The PLC also features six racquetball/handball courts as well as two adjacent intramural rooms. The intramural rooms feature four basketball courts, four indoor tennis courts, four volleyball courts, an indoor track and two indoor jumping pits. The College installed new synthetic flooring and several new electronic scoreboards throughout the intramural rooms. The Physical Learning Center houses the athletic training room, locker rooms and offices for coaches and physical education faculty. The College recently constructed a new office suite for coaches and athletic administration, while also incorporating its Athletic Hall of Fame area. Grove City’s outdoor athletic facilities have also received numerous upgrades in recent years. The varsity soccer field, College Field, received a new press box during the summer of 2007. Meanwhile, Grove City’s baseball and softball facilities recently received major facelifts as new dugouts, new fencing and electronic scoreboards were installed on both fields.
