The Albany Centre
The Albany Learning and Conference Centre is operated by Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector. Its main role is to provide a dedicated development centre for Glasgow’s voluntary sector organisations. The Albany Centre also functions as a venue for meetings, events and conferences.
The Enterprise Growth Fund
The Albany Centre Community Programme is supported by The Enterprise Growth Fund, a Scottish Government Fund. The Fund aims to make strategic investments in ambitious and enterprising third sector organisations across Scotland enabling them to develop, grow and become more sustainable. 2

Cookery courses
Learn how to cook simple, healthy and delicious meals on a budget. Trained chef’s Jamie and Matt will show you how it’s done - demonstrating their skills in the Albany kitchen and providing recipes to take home and try yourself!

Creating Mind Vitality with NLP
A special introductory workshop to show how Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and gentle hypnosis techniques can boost your health and wellbeing. Led by Gillian McCamley of Mind Vitality. Runs twice: Thu 30th August 6:00pm – 8:30pm or Tue 18th September 6:00pm – 8:30pm Cost: £15 (students £11)
Tai Chi – with a difference!
Tai Chi is an effective exercise for health of mind and body. The gentle flowing movements strengthen the body and improve balance. Learn the simplified Tai-Chi Chuan 10 – Form Yang Style while applying methods taken from the Alexander Technique with the help of a gentle hands-on guidance to improve posture. Led by Michal Segal, an experienced teacher of the Alexander Technique and Tai Chi Practitioner. Suitable for beginners. Sats 1pm–2pm

The Alexander Technique with Michal Segal
The Alexander Technique works by helping you to identify and prevent the harmful postural habits that aggravate, or may be the cause of stress, pain and under-performance. An effective yet simple and practical method for self-improvement and self-help. Attend the 2 hour Introductory Session to learn about the basic principles of the technique – and leave with a sense of wellbeing. The 4 week course will take you further, introducing a new set of skills that can be practically applied to all movements. Two-hour introduction: Sat 25th August

Coaching with the Brain in Mind
Neuroscience is increasingly showing us how our brain structure and thinking processes affect our view of the world and who we are. What value does this have in the realms of coaching work with individuals and groups? Discover what brain based coaching is, the core organising principles of neuro leadership and offer six key insights about the brain that may impact on your approach to coaching. Broaden your horizons
Urban Arts
Learn urban arts techniques such as stencilling, tagging and freehand design. Create artwork on canvas to be displayed at an exhibition for the local community. An 8 week programme for 12 to 19 year olds led by Artist Barry Neeson.

Lemon Volkswagens, Lucozade and the Lynx effect: a talk about adverts
Would you advertise your car as a lemon?
What are advertisers really up to? And how can you use simple branding techniques to promote your own organistion or personal business? In this interactive talk, we take a quirky look at the milennia-old history of advertising, then focus in on modern TV advertising, before looking the award-winning McMillan Cancer rebrand. Learn how to become a published author. Gain guidance on how to write and become creative. Understand the basics of copyright, ISBNs and CIP records and explore what Amazon and Lulu have to offer the self-publisher. A four week course led by author Bobby Livingston. Cupcake decoration
Works of art that you can eat!
Japanese Origami
Come along and learn how you can simply create stunning cupcakes. Amaze your friends and family by using simple techniques to create unique, eye-catching designs. You will learn how to use piped icings, such as butter-cream and Italian meringue as well as more simple sugar paste decorating techniques. We will even give you a presentation gift box to take home your cupcakes. Either bring along 6 of your own cupcakes to decorate on the night, or you can let us provide you with 6 fresh vanilla sponge cupcakes. The class will be led by Isobel Winning of Winning Cakes.

A weekly club for children with Japanese mother tongue. Participate in activities such as a dance, rhythmics, Aikido, arts and crafts, origami, calligraphy, sushi making and Japanese singing. Coordinated by The Japanese Residents Association. Every Saturday (starting 25th August)

If walking from the city centre turn right at the Sainsbury’s Petrol Station on Woodlands Road, onto Ashley Street. From Great Western Road, turn onto Carrington street, left onto West Princes Street then right onto Ashley Street.
Nearest underground station – St Georges Cross. Exit through the tunnel. Turn left up the stairway; turn right walking round the gardens, cross West Princes Street onto Ashley Street.
