Effective CV Writing Workshop

Albany Centre Outreach has partnered with Aspire Higher* to deliver a CV workshop on how to write an effective CV.

Being offered a job interview is an achievement. However, in most cases applicants fail to be offered an interview and don’t understand why. More often than not, it is because their CV has not done the job.

A good CV must attract attention, give the required information in a structured and concise way - and make the employer want to meet the person.

This workshop has been designed for pupils, school leavers, students, graduates and jobs seekers who need guidance on writing an effective CV. Increase your chances of gaining an interview by understanding the selection criteria and what an employer is looking for. We look at: 1. What is a CV and why is it important 2. CV components, structure, style and length 3. What makes a good CV – 5 keys steps to make your CV stand out 4. Key mistakes when writing a CV

There will be a question and answer session and CV templates will also be available to take away. The workshop will be delivered by Suleman Dar, a Recruitment Specialist from Monster – ‘worldwide leader in successfully connecting people to job opportunities’. Suleman has over 8 years recruitment experience and has helped many organisations from various industries recruit key personnel into their business.

*Aspire Higher is a voluntary project sponsored by Al-Furqan Mosque and supported by The Transformation Team. Date: Cost:

Weight loss stalled? Nothing seems to work? Want to look good in the new year?

Change your health, body shape and mindset!

Albany Centre Outreach has teamed up with Glasgow-based organisation The Fat Loss Coaches to host a series of eight evening workshops that could be the key to you getting back to the shape you want to be.

The proven techniques developed by The Fat Loss Coaches are aimed especially at people who have the desire to change their current situation but who can’t seem to break through to a new level. Rather than a quick-fix diet, where even more weight piles back on as soon as you stop dieting, Fat loss Coaching focuses on the process and not the outcome, using a programme that encompasses fitness training, nutritional eduction and body fat analysis. Acquire simple tips and tools to build the good habits that achieve real, long term change!

Each of the eight classes in the program will begin with a jargon-free, short talk on one aspect of weight loss or keeping well. For instance, how important is sleep in weight loss, and what foods promote good sleep? What type of exercise should I be doing. How and where should you massage to help fat to shift? What other simple things can I be doing to improve my health and shape. After the talk, the class will take part in a series of simple exercises aimed at their individual levels, each proven to help burn calories and tone up muscle.

Dates: Eight consecutive Thursdays from 24th October, 7.45pm - 9.00pm Costs: £65 for all eight classes. Or £10 for individual classes.
