We’re half way through “PUMPKIN SPICE” season...are you still have gearhead fun...

Before I go further, just so you really know…”pumpkin spice” is really just a bunch of cinnamon added into everything...no one adds “pumpkin” into their coffee, latte’s or drinks.

Point of this is we are half way thru the fall season and in the Middle of Oct. The car scene really starts winding down across much of the USA during this time. Yea...we know you gearheads in the warmer climates like Florida and California and some of the southwestern states keep on having gearhead fun. Good for you!

While events are slowing down based on temps going down, there still is a lot of gearhead fun out there to be had. All you have to do is read this issue or checkout our website at www.gearheadgazzette.com and you will see.

While outdoor events are winding down, the indoor / winter car show scene is getting ready to crank up. See...problem solved.

Let me say THANK YOU to all of you who put on all the car shows, be it one day or multi-day events so far this year. Having been involved in many many car shows over my years (too high to count), I know what kind of effort you all put into making sure us gearheads have a good time.

I hope your events were successful and for those of you who held an event for a charity, THANK YOU for helping out folks who need it more than you!

Thank you also to all the “CRUISE-IN event folks too.

To be dedicated enough to run a weekly for 26 weeks or more (some are run 52 weeks a year!), or a monthly event for the majority of the year...my hat is off to all of you on behalf of all of us who partake in your events.

Lingenfelter And Magnuson Announce C8 Corvette

700-HP Supercharger Package

The C8 Chevy Corvette makes impressive power in stock, factory spec, but toss some forced induction at that mid mounted V8, and things get wild pretty quick, as is evidenced by this new supercharger package from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering.

Developed in partnership with Magnuson Superchargers, this new C8 Corvette supercharger upgrade features Eaton Advanced (TVS R) High Helix Four Lobe technology, as well as C Cal tuning for the factory engine control module (ECM) and Lingenfelter’s proprietary Extreme Cooling Technology (ECT) heat exchanger. Magnuson Dynamic Flow Tuning inlet porting and a Lingenfelter 95mm throttle body round out the highlights.

“Together with our partners at Magnuson Superchargers, we have invested two years of development, thousands of road validation miles, and track testing to produce an OEM quality, fully integrated supercharger program for the C8 Corvette,” Lingenfelter states.

With the supercharger properly hooked up, peak output is measured at 700 horsepower and 675 pound-feet of torque at the crank with 7 psi of boost. Critically, stock drivability and all the OEM functions are retained. Customers that want even more go faster goodness can opt for things like a new cold air intake, half shafts, exhaust system, headers, brakes, suspension lowering, and more.

The new Lingenfelter supercharger kit is offered for both C8 Corvette Coupe and Convertible body styles, and includes a 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty as a supplement to the factory warranty.

The new Lingenfelter Magnusson TVS2650 C8 Corvette DI 700 Horsepower package is priced at $24,950, per Lingenfelter’s website. Interested customers are required to make a $1,000 deposit, with kits for the C8 Corvette Convertible set to launch early next year.

The Lingengelter supercharger kit is only sold as an installed program, with installations performed at a Lingenfelter Build Center, or by an approved Lingenfelter installer. To note, this supercharger upgrade is CARB-pending and currently unavailable in California.

Ford Reveals GT LM Heritage Edition

Ford has revealed the new 2022 Ford GT LM Edition, which honors the Le Mans winning supercar that took home a class win in 2016 and a 1 2 3 podium sweep in 1966, the company announced.

“

With innovative materials, design and engineering, the Ford GT is unlike any other production supercar,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance Motorsports. “As we close this chapter of the road going Ford GT, the GT LM Edition gave us a chance to inject even more heart and soul from a podium finishing racecar, furthering the tribute to our 2016 Le Mans win.”

Deliveries of the 2022 final model year Ford GT LM Edition begin this fall with production of only 20 special edition supercars wrapping up later this year, Ford said.

With its carbon fiber body lacquered in Liquid Silver exterior paint, the limited-edition Ford GT LM is finished in either a red or blue theme throughout, honoring the red and blue race livery of the Le Mans winning No. 68 Ford GT.

Customers can choose from exposed red or blue tinted carbon fiber that underscores the lower aerodynamics of the supercar, which includes tinting the ultra lightweight material on the front splitter, side sills and door sills, plus engine bay louvers, mirror stalks and rear diffuser. Exposed gloss carbon fiber 20 inch wheels with corresponding red or blue inner-barrel accents, plus titanium lug nuts and Brembo brake calipers lacquered in black to further modernize this package.

Unique to the Ford GT LM is a 3D titanium printed dual exhaust that features a cyclonic design inside the tips and hints at the twin-turbo 660 horsepower EcoBoost engine. Above the tips, a titanium GT LM badge is also 3D printed.

Inside, the Ford GT LM Edition’s interior features unique appointments including Alcantara wrapped carbon fiber seats with a matching red or blue driver’s seat, and Ebony passenger seat with accent stitching that matches the driver’s seat color, as well as the engine start button. The instrument panel is wrapped in Ebony leather and Alcantara, while pillars and headliner are wrapped in Ebony Alcantara. Carbon fiber carries into the cabin, appearing on the console, vent registers and lower A pillars with a matte finish.

Making the Ford GT LM Edition a special final tribute, the Ford Performance team looked for ways to embed the Le Mans podium finishing spirit into each road car, the company said. The result: the team located the third place 2016 Ford GT (No. 69) racecar’s engine that was disassembled and shelved after the race, ground down the crankshaft into a powder, and developed a unique bespoke alloy used to 3D print the instrument panel badge for each of the 20 special edition supercars.

The 2022 Ford GT LM Edition pays tribute to the third-generation supercar’s overall win and the No. 68 Ford GT of Sébastien Bourdais (FRA), Joey Hand (US) and Dirk Müller (GER) who crossed the finish line at the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours. The No. 69 Ford GT of Ryan Briscoe (AUS), Scott Dixon (NZ) and Richard Westbrook (GB) joined the winners on the podium after scoring third place. The Nos. 66 and 67 Ford GTs finished in fourth and ninth places, respectively.

Upstairs, downstairs, and in every corner of COBO hall (yea its got a new name but it will always be Cobo to us), these die hard lovers of cool cars fan out to see the whole show.

Some of the show goer’s start heading for the very back corner of the main floor. It’s there they get on the escalator to head to “THE BASEMENT” in Cobo Hall and one of the coolest events all year long The Autorama Extreme.

If you have never been to this show,,.then you have never experienced the magic and energy that is DEE-TROIT. Gearheads who have attended at least one or many years of the Detroit Autorama understand the feeling when you enter the exhibition hall. If you just stand back and watch, you see it on their

faces….smiling...staring and enjoying the hard work by so many car owners and builders

Detroit is where the traditional style hot rods, customs, drag cars, historical cars and SO MUCH MORE hang out all weekend long. This is where the party is at, all weekend long.

Add in hundreds of vendors who are integral to our hobby, automotive artists from across the USA, a Pin-Up Girl contest ( not trashy but very classy) live rock a billy bands and legendary car builders hanging out the whole weekend.
