FLAWLESS

They call her beauty And I thought I did too As I saw her step into the world with stride Sharp glint of pride in her eyes As the world stops before her She is absolutely beautiful From her damaged dry long blonde hair To the lacerated plastic in her skin She truly is an envy She walks into the world And the world welcomes her She who plasters muck on the daily Fooling us to believe she’s just that dainty I used to love her I used to stand in front of the mirror Crying, trying to be like her Because her perfection equaled my fatality

When I walked into the world The world told me to be like her That my ‘beauty’ didn’t even reach the needles in her heels Nor the starvation of her torso I tried to please the world I threw my essence into her presence Tearing pieces of my body and molding them into hers Spending my time doing makeup tutorials Or fainting

Every time I got closer to what she was The world seemed to ask for more Trying to turn me into her Until I couldn’t take it anymore I shouted at the world I stood in front of it, embracing myself in this body This body who didn’t deserve this abuse This bittersweet ‘health’ society sold So we can reach her perfection And that’s when I knew she was just a Lie.
