Steve’s Three Favourite Finds
Gemporia Founder Steve Bennett has a passion for gemstones that stretches back decades. During his time in the industry, he has travelled the world to acquire some of the highest-quality natural treasures – so it’s inevitable that he has a select few favourites!
Speaking to us about his three favourite finds over the last two decades, Steve said:
Over the years, I have had the privilege of visiting so many wonderful countries, and travelling into the most remote areas – many never visited by Westerners before! But honestly, the gemstones came in two groups: the beautiful, timeless minerals of nature, and the wonderful communities and individuals who unearthed them.
I will never forget searching for Spinel in Tanzania, Rubies in Burma, and one of my favourite gems, Kyanite, which took an epic several-day hike in Nepal with Dave Troth and cameraman Connor. We were on some of the most frightening ridges I have ever traversed, high up in the Himalayas
