T
his portfolio summarizes three years of reflection in the fields of architecture, urbanism and landscape. My first years at the ENSAVT have been a strong foundation to my commitment to Architecture, and today it is a vocation to which I devote myself with passion and relentlessness. So far in my studies, it appears fundamental to me not to focus on style, or a given type of architecture but rather to try and understand the mechanisms of the architectural and urbanistic creation process by diversifying the approaches on the projects. Therefore, questioning, critical thinking and experimentation seem to be essential steps into the education of an architect. I try, in every project, to give special meaning to the buildings and facilities I imagine, transcend the functions of space to create places of life and unite form, function and purpose through extensive work on drawings and graphic representation. I hope that my above intentions will appear in the following pages which present my main last 3 year projects.

Unveil Paris Medieval museum and crafts school Paris, France license Semester 6 duration 4 months individual project Two programs coexist on this plot located in the center of Paris: a medieval museum and a crafts school. The building is organised around a central courtyard, below the street level, that encourages the mix of uses and users. The school asserts itself by a horizontal monumentality and a regular structural frame, while the museum is caracterised by a striking picture: a tower emerges behind a veil of corten steel. For the users’ comfort, entries are separated. Visitors access the museum from the lower courtyard where they begin their ascent. The visitor discovers the museum art pieces and, while ascending the tower, the surrounding cityscape slowly unveils. The panoramic terrasse is the culmnation of the ascent and offers to the brave visitors an exceptional view of the city of Paris.

In Abstracto Conceptual housing No site license Semester 5 duration 5 weeks individual project The architecture of this project offers a spatial continuum, connecting opened and generous spaces.
Rotation of the collective spaces
The project’s concept is to offer a shared collective space at every floor. It is made possible thanks to a rotation of 90° at each floor, enabling all the apartments to benefit from the collective space. The dwellings’ open spaces articulate around fonctional cores gathering the bathrooms, restrooms and storage. This organization creates a smooth circulation and a variety of spaces. While the kitchen and dining room open on the collective space, the living room opens on the corner loggia. The structure is based on a 5m x 5m frame and is an essential component of the spatial organization as well as the architectural expression.

In Situ Collective housing Champs-sur-Marne, France license Semester 5 duration 6 weeks individual project The In Situ exercise is a continuation of the In Abstracto project as it focuses on the adaptation of conceptual and ideal typologies in a real context. The site, located at the center of the Descartes campus, in Champs-surMarne, is divided in three plots of land. This project proposes to invest all the plots in a consistent way, and to deepen the design of the central plot buildings. The urban space is generated by the implantation of towers - of variable heights and sizes - on activity bases (shops and restaurants) at the groundfloor. The urban composition stages the multipurpose hall, unifying element of the public space, and related to the town square. The ENPC and the University are therefore linked thanks to this central and lively square.

Tiered gardens Intermediate housing Roissy-en-Brie, France license Semester 4 term 2 months team individual project The plot is bordered by the road, the woods and a public garden. The concept and organisation of the dwellings stems from this particular situation: the stepped morphology frees up views toward the woods and the public garden while offering generous terraces oriented south to the residents. The plant roof terrace give the sensation that the garden climbs on the building and create a distance between the terraces of the different dwellings. The cars have access to a covered parking from the road, at the groundfloor. Some paths are formed towards the woods to create a continuity with the existing pathways. Axonometry of the building

The box inside a box House Champs-sur-Marne, France license Semester 3 duration 6 weeks team M.Heupel and C.Duflot From the basic plan of a “phénix house”, the object of this exercise was to modify it on the base of a strong concept. We are working here on the “box into a box” theme, therefore the more private spaces (bedrooms and bathrooms) are gathered into a central “core” which articulates the more public spaces around (living, dining, kitchen...). Space flows continously around the core and is flooded with light. The core is composed of four thick supporting walls, it therefore supports the roof, to which the facades are suspended. The core also interacts with the exterior envelope to bring some natural light inside. The wooden core has a warm materiality, distinct from the envelope whose whiteness contrasts with the surrounding landscape.

Contemplation Student housing France license Semester 2 duration 5 weeks Individual project The organisation of this building is based on the idea to frame the horizon and that every student can benefit from it equitably. The simplex studios, being aligned and opened to the west, lean against the two stories appartments which also benefit from the view. This organisation enables the creation of a plant roof terrace over the studios. The building develops in length and seems to be contemplating the horizon. It is a monolithic looking building, where large entrance porticos are dug in the facades, and create transitional spaces between the public and the private spaces. Groundfloor and first floor plans

Contrast and fluidity Prototypes workshop France license Semester 1 duration 3 weeks individual project Prototypes of wooden, steel and glass furniture and domestic objects are made in this building.

The partition of the workshop has to be simple and effective to facilitate communication and cooperation between the different functions, and enable fluent circulation. The space created by this partition is therefore open and luminous. Contrast come from the encounter of the diffuse light coming from the north with the light coming from the south that sunscreens make uniform. The light sources merge to reveal the main workshop’s verticality, amplified by the alignement of the three porticos supporting the roof. First floor plan

Link and signalize Urban analysis and strategy Roissy-en-brie, France license Semester 4 duration 5 weeks team C.Carosone, A.Aguerre and A.Aarrouj How could we assemble the pieces of the urban puzzle that is Roissy-en-brie? And how could we link the footpath and the bikeways in order to create a network of slow-traffic which irrigates the city? Based on a deep analysis of the city, our project aims at restructuring this fragmented territory with microinterventions in the “in-between� spaces, by installing street furniture, and by improving and connecting the existing paths. The other half of our strategy aims at indroducing mixity in this suburban city by implanting equipments - small, medium and large - at the crossroads of the slow-traffic network and at other strategic places.

Roissy-en-brie, France license Semester 4 duration 2 weeks team C.Carosone, A.Aguerre and A.Aarrouj We perceive the site as an “urban clearing”, with a triangular shape, bordered on its three sides by a suburban residence, a forest and a riding school. Access plan
The main challenge is to articulate the different functions implied by those different spaces, by creating a public garden where people can gather. This means treating the limits of the garden : - An “urban” limit on the residence’s side, which provides at the same time intimacy to the residents, and installations of street furniture for the garden users’ comfort . - A “vegetal” limit offering visual and sensory experience. - A central public space, wide, opened and multipurpose.

Lightness and suspension Detail drawing Roissy-en-Brie, France license Semester 4 duration 2 weeks Individual project This detail drawing exercise is part of the architecture project “Tiered gardens”. The concept of the stairway is to go from a feeling of massivity, materialized by a monolithic concrete bloc forming the first flight of stairs, to a feeling of lightness, materialized by suspended steel stairs. A great attention is paid to the links and assemblies between the elements for this exercise. I also worked on the connection between the patio’s slab and the wall, taking care to understand how the two elements connect in the best way (taking into account the structure, the insulation and the sealing).

Economy of means “Lightweight structural set” Champs-sur-Marne, France license Semester 2 duration 2 weeks team L.Volfinger, S.Cormier and L. Berastegui The goal of this exercise was to understand the notion of economy of means thanks to the conception of a large, resistant and lightweight structure, followed by its construction with few materials. It is by wearing the structure at scale 1 that we can evaluate the economy of means. Our concept is to protect the wearer, like a precious stone, thanks to the structure. It is composed of three large triangular modules whose vertices join at the top, without touching each other, which creates a feeling of subtle tension. A particular attention is given to the structural behaviour of the materials, the paths of forces and to the assemblies of the different components which provide the structure’s solidity and balance. Freestanding braiding Modular shade house Champs-sur-Marne, France license Semester 5 duration 1 week team M. Kessaria, P. Servoir, S.Salhi, A.P, A.C This workshop’s goal was to conceive and to build a shade house using the geometrical characteristics of nexorades. The questions of space, shadow and light, but also geometry and structure are addressed by a multidisciplinary team composed of engineering (ENPC), design (ESAG Penninghen) and architecture students (ENSAVT). From the model work to the construction at scale 1, the researches alternate between the basic module and the general form. Simple calculations helped us to evaluate the loads that the structure could withstand, and anticipate bending. Therefore, the final form comes from the combination of our formal intentions and the geometrical and structural adjustments.
