b. Continue to ask for the Lord’s Heart c. Spiritually Lead the Room i. TM Tongues Policy 1. If you pray in your prayer language, please do not do it over the microphone (TM Policy) 2. If someone is praying over the microphone and begins to speak in tongues please politely explain to them the policy ii. Prophecy 1. Feel free to let the Lord lead you and the room in this area 2. “No babies, dates or mates” – this is a great criteria for what not to say 3. Stray from calling anyone out over the microphone, go to them instead in person 4. Be encouraged by this gift of the Spirit and if you feel like you are lacking it, ask for God to bring it into your life for such a time as this (1 Corinthians 12 & 14) iv. Prayer Etiquette 1.Apostolic Prayers a. Mentioned these above, but these are helpful when it comes to praying. Our goal is to lead and unify the room. Try to avoid "bad" prayers, that is, prayers that the group can not agree on such as those centered on darkness and demons, or prayers that turn into preaching. In the meetings, there is disunity because others may not agree with the prayers. On the other hand, apostolic prayers are "God-centered" and "positive focused." 4.”How to”- Intercession, Rapid Fire Prayer. Harp and Bowl. Worship with the word. a. Intercession i. Basic outline of 1 hour • Announce the prayer topic and pray (as worship team is transiting/ setting up) • Do 3 songs of worship (around 15 minutes of prayer) • Intercession for 5-10 minutes • Go into a more specific sub-topic • Announce sub-prayer point • Use a scripture to pray from • Limit your prayer to 1-2 minutes (long extended prayers are hard for people to focus on/agree with)

ii. iii.
Go back into worship for few minutes- focusing on prayer topic • Pray out small 1-liner prayers to keep focus on prayer topic Other options in prayer • Have them read a scripture • Have them picture what they are praying for • Ask them to get into groups of 2 to pray together • Rapid Fire prayer •Finish the set with a worship song or 2
b. Rapid Fire prayer See examples of Rapid Fire Prayer at www.ihop.org/prayerroom i. Zach Simms Intercession, October 30th 6am. • http://www.ihop.org/Publisher/Article.aspx?ID=1000066807 (start @ 49:49 minutes stop @ 10:54 minutes) • Points to notice from the video • Prayer topic of the 2 hours is “the lost” • Introduction of Rapid Fire prayer • Uses scripture • Prayer leader prays first when he asks people to come up • It’s assumed that the majority of the room is to come • Prayers are 10 second prayers • Prayer leader stands right next to the microphone c. Harp & Bowl: flowing with your worship band i. This is a format that IHOP uses, feel free to tweek it. It’s just helpful to see what we don’t usually see watching the live webstream. They actually have a system of how they flow! The prayer leader starts the new set with a prayer: i. Step 1: The worship leader sings a corporate worship song - when done she sings spontaneously and when done she says "Oh God" and that means it is the prayer leader's turn ii. Step 2: The prayer leader will announce what she is praying for and the apostolic prayer that will be used, and then expresses her heart and when done, she says, "In Jesus name." This signals to the singers to start singing choruses. ii. Step 3: The singers will sing the choruses (Singer 1, Singer 2, Singer 3) until the chorus leader or worship singer 1 picks up on a chorus for the group to sing. When the worship leader thinks this went on long enough, she will sing a worship song, and then say "Oh God" and the cycle repeats itself, and goes back to the prayer leader.

d. Worship with the Word i. How it’s different from Intercession set • Tell worship team portion scripture that you will be focusing on 7-5 days ahead of time • They will be singing from that! • Suggestions: • Psalms, NT, etc. • It can be difficult to use unfamiliar scriptures, especially narrative scripture • Find verses that focus on simple truths/revelation from scripture to meditate on ii Basic outline of 1 hour • Announce the focus (topic or main scripture) and pray (as worship team is transiting/setting up) • Do 3 songs of worship (around 15 minutes of prayer) • Read scripture and pray it out • Pick verses to highlight and stay on for a few minutes • Limit your prayer to 1-2 minutes (long extended prayers are hard for people to focus on/agree with) • Go back into worship for few minutes- focusing on prayer topic • Pray out small 1-liner prayers to keep focus on prayer topic • Other options in prayer • Have them read a scripture • Have them picture what they are praying for • Ask them to get into groups of 2 to pray together for revelation • Ask if any wants prayer • Finish the set with a worship song or 2
5. Post Set Logistics a. If there is NOT a band after you be ready to start iTunes…avoid silence. b. After your set, meet your team outside the room and discuss how the set went. i. If there is any room for growth, mention it and plan out how to improve for the next set c. Pray out & feel free to spend more time in the prayer room after you lead the set.

Worship band Etiquette Heart of a Worship Band a. Minister unto the Lord like the musicians in the Temple of David b. Not to be a “star” or to give a concert...but to bring offerings of praise to Him. In Preparation for your Set: A. Pick a day in the week where you can all get together and practice. Consider your weekly prayer focus and perhaps verses that Prayer Leader may want to present. i. The Prayer Room is not a time to practice! Take the time to practice flow with your band. Practice your exhortations and memorization of the word. Cultivate your skills on your free time. B. Pray before you begin, invite the Lord to lead and guide you. i. Be mindful of songs chosen. These songs must be first and foremost, attentive to the heart of God. Second, it must be considerate of those you are leading into worship. Other people want to sing and worship with you, pick songs that can be easily learned or sang in a group setting. C. Please allow the band leader to be led by the Spirit as he/she leads the group in song choices and leads practice time. i. Band leader please strongly consider how you can rotate your band members so everyone is feeling involved. You don’t always have to be the front person leading. D. If you have verses read them and even practice developing melodies and developing small songs so you are prepared during the set to sing out. You will already know what key the songs are being played on so work together to make a brief sentence melody with the verse. This is not required but definitely recommended. E. Make sure you know your songs. Bring lyrics and notes to your actual set if needed. F. During practice respect each others time. Don’t be distracted and start playing something else, jamming, or showing off. Time needs to be spent focused and awaiting instruction so a united and anointed worship set is born. The Day You Play: A. Come at least 15 minutes before to pray as a team and then spend a little time soaking in the Prayer Room entering into His presence before transitioning to your set. Transition your mind as well as your body and Spirit...enter into an attitude/posture of worship. I. This is not the time to be filled up, you should already be filled up! What you do in the prayer room is only an addition to your worship/prayer times when you are on your own. You can’t lead someone to places you have never been.

B. As the band before you ends, quietly set up- have some one right away jump in with either piano or guitar while the rest of team gets situated so there is a smooth transition with out noise (conversation/chit chat) and distraction. Do all you can to preserve the atmosphere of peace. C. Communicate and coordinate with your Prayer Leader. It will be the same person each week, build a relationship with them. Worship leader give them the set list. Discuss signals or learn to read each other so you know where to jump in or pull back. D. No matter what instrument you are playing learn to engage in prayer and worship, don’t just “play” music. E. Word of encouragement: There are many songs that been birthed out of times with the Lord in the Prayer Room...DURING sets. For example, many of Misty Edwards songs and other worship leaders music has come out of spontaneous worship and adoration and singing in the Spirit. These have been powerful and anointed songs from on high and the Lord wants to bless you with these. Sing out boldly and trust the Lord to speak through you. F. Sometimes there will just be your band and the Prayer Leader in the room. Don’t let that inhibit the flow. Sure it may be awkward at first but remember we are first ministering unto the Lord. People came to the temple to bring sacrifices, they didn’t come to shoot the breeze with their friends. Learn to focus your heart on the Father on high and imagine its just you and you are singing songs to him before his throne in heaven. As songs are being sung and prayers lifted up you can also contend and intercede as well. Tune into the heart beat of heaven. If You Absolutely Cannot Make it: A. Band Leader is responsible to find replacement if they cannot be present. B. Be well connected with your Prayer Leader. If worship leader/band cannot be present, he/she must communicate to prayer leader and must find their own replacement. Equipment and Setup A. The room is small, volume MUST be considered. Keep the volume to a level where you can still hear someone if they were loudly speaking without a microphone. B. The room is equipped to have 2 Acoustics, 1 Keyboard, 2 Vocalists, and djembe. If you need additional equipment, you may draw from the upstairs cafeteria rooms but, YOU MUST PUT THE EQUIPMENT BACK IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR SESSION. C. After you are done with your session and a band does not precede you, roll up cords and leave everything organized and clean. Pick up chord sheets and simply, PICK UP

AFTER YOURSELF. Think about how you would like the area setup when you come in for your session. D. The only two things on the mixer that you should be concerned about is the Channel Volume and Input. DO NOT change anything else. The speakers have already been EQ’d. If your guitar or vocals have to much bass or it is ear piercing, adjust the “CHANNEL EQ” (Knobs labeled low, mid, hi above the channel you plugged into) E. Above all, please treat all equipment with respect and gentleness. If something is broken, you must IMMEDIATELY email “Tim Hannabas” and CC “Chris Pound” explaining how it was broken. Do not let things go unsaid.
