Brings Marketing Expertise to Alma Mater

"The GC experience is like no other. I’m honored to give life to the many amazing Georgetown stories.”

For alumna Bethany (Hornback) Langdon, accepting a position at Georgetown College was a homecoming. Langdon graduated in 1993 with her bachelor’s degree in philosophy and French with a minor in English. In June, she accepted the position of Vice President for Communications and Marketing. Langdon is delighted to work for the first woman president in GC history, Rosemary Allen, and join the College’s Executive Cabinet. “I am honored to be working with President Allen, who was also my English professor,” says Langdon. “I am confident she, and the entire Executive Cabinet, are building a solid strategic plan for Georgetown’s future. Returning to GC has been an absolute joy. I have experienced first-hand the quality of the education we provide our students. This, alongside the lasting relationships fostered not only with fellow students but with professors, is part of what makes GC a very special place.” Langdon has extensive experience leading marketing, communications, and public relations efforts in the nonprofit sector. For the past several years, she served as the Corporate Director of Marketing and Communications for New Vista, the largest community mental health center in Kentucky. Before that, she worked for University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union, YMCA of Central Kentucky, and Girl Scouts of the United States. Langdon currently serves as President of the Public Relations Society of America, Thoroughbred Chapter. Through the years, Langdon has developed new brands, championed digital marketing, and designed more websites than she can count. As marketing trends continue to shift, she is adamant that GC embraces new technologies to meet students where they are today. “Parents and students source information about higher education almost exclusively online. We are partnering with experts who understand the higher education landscape and can help Georgetown tell our unique story,” says Langdon. “We provide an open, caring, and rigorous educational experience where students receive personalized attention and support. Helping prospective students understand why the GC experience is like no other is paramount to our success. I’m honored to give life to the many amazing Georgetown stories.”
